“Leah was able to help me with a very last-minute request and she was amazing at looking after Dixie and keeping me updated with pictures and messages throughout the day. I will definitely use her again in the future and would recommend her to anyone. Thank you so much again Leah x”

“Annabelle was very responsive and looked after our girls perfectly. Our Spaniel is very nervous but Annabelle established a good bond with her. Our Beagador loves everyone and was very relaxed throughout.”

“Rachel has been an incredible sitter for our darling girl. Communication has been extremely professional throughout, from arranging the first meet right until handing over after our return home. Rachel kept us up to date with daily photos of Cleo on walks and playing. Our girl looked so happy and comfortable throughout. When we returned home the house was immaculate and small things let you know Rachel really cares about the animals she looks after and the experience of her customers! Our dog had played so hard with a toy it ripped but Rachel sourced a new one for her knowing how much she likes playing with it! I wouldn’t think twice about asking Rachel to look after our girl again, she has been a dream discovery for us and goes above and beyond!”

“Rowan was brilliant with our two cats, who instantly took to them and clearly felt safe with them. Rowan stayed overnight in our home with the cats, and left it clean, without any concerns. Rowan sent regular updates for how the cats were getting on, including photos. Rowan followed everything we asked of them, which we're very grateful for! We'll be booking Rowan again - thoroughly recommend!”

“Caroline did a fantastic job looking after my Bruno for a week. She is a pleasant and chatty lady who clearly loves animals. She sent me updates and pics every day. She is so good I have booked her again. Highly recommended”
“Samantha was great - she followed Caspian’s routine and kept me updated with loads of photos. He was very happy when I got home and if I’m honest I think he’s been missing her since! Will definitely ask her to look after Caspian again in the future, as he clearly had a great time. Would enthusiastically recommend Samantha to anyone considering a sitter!”

“Debbie was absolutely brilliant with our FIVE, yes FIVE dogs ! A mother dachshund and four five week old puppies for the day. She came in advance to meet us all and sent me updates through the day. I knew straightaway that she was an experienced animal lover. I would recommend Debbie 100% and will definitely ask for her again if I need more help over the coming weeks.”
“We could not of been any luckier with coming across Barbara, our dog Kasper took to her straight away and settled really easily. She did everything and more that we'd of hoped for, to which saw Kasper cuddle up to her... Something he doesn't do often!! We will definitely be using their expertise again”

About: My family have had dogs since I was 6 years old; mad Labradors and German Sheps that think they're puppies still, plus multiple family members have had dogs of all sizes, ages and trained levels. Whilst I was at university up in Scotland and when living in the Lakes I regularly house and dog sat. I just love having dogs around, live a 2 minute walk from a large park, 10 minute walk from the canal paths, also a longer, steeper walk to bridle ways and the moors. The only reason I don't have my own is because I have recently moved to the area (to my own home) and am applying for rescues. I currently work full time (8-4/9-5, depending what I have on that day). 4 days a week from home, 1 day in the office in central Manchester. I go for a walk myself every morning and lunch time, plus have the capacity to go for shorter 'round the block walks' and longer walks either side of my work day. Listening to the owner on the dogs routine, boundaries and toilet and walking habits is key - it takes a looong time and a lot of capacity to establish those, so they will be fully respected. I have a small, walled yard at the front of my house, that I am currently measuring up to build a higher fence (for when I get my own dog and a nice bit of privacy). Whenever I am downstairs in my house I have the front door open, so your dog can pootle in and out at their own leisure. I have space both downstairs and upstairs for a crate or dog bed.
About: Since starting pet sitting in April'19, I have now completed over 157 weeks of care, from the -30'C Canadian winters to the near 50'C summer in Dubai, remote Caribbean island to the hustle of capital city. Dogs & cats are equally loved, from Mini Dachshund to Bernese Mountain dogs, sleepy Pug to energetic Collie pups. So many happy memories and stories to tell. I feel honored and proud of my 5* feedback & references which are all far more important than anything I could write in my profile, and I have completed all verification available to me on this forum. Please help me to help you & your furry friends whilst you are away. Get in touch and we can arrange a call, skype, What'sApp or Zoom to make sure we would be a perfect fit. Communication is key. During my career as a Quality Manager, I always operated with the upmost professionalism, with integrity and in an open & honest way, and endeavored to instill these values to all of my team. Your house sit would be no different. I have been used to global pet sits of 1 to 2 months at a time, but equally, as I type, I'm sharing the sofa with a new furry pal in Suffolk for the week. It is unlikely that I would take any offers below 7 days. I am looking for pet sits during vacation from work. As such, my schedule would be adaptable to best match that of your beloved pet. I'm happy to explore the local woods & surroundings for up to 3hrs, dependent on the needs of your dog, and would keep to all of their normal scheduled meal / rest times. I like to pet sit to be with the pets, it is that simple. I could fly away and lay on the beach for a week or so, or maybe take myself away to the nearest ski resort, but that is nowhere near enjoyable as plotting a route to explore the woods using Ordinance Survey Apps with a new pal by my side, or playing fetch, tug or grooming. And I don't know why, but a nice pint in a quintessential British pub always tastes better with a pal at your heels.

“Very pleased with Tracy looking after Russet. Tracy always replied promptly to communications and looked after Russet and the house well. Would request Tracy again if she is agreeable.”

“Camilla looked after Meg, my West Highland Terrier and my home wonderfully. She was very caring and I could tell when I returned home how they had bonded together. It was the first time I had used a sitter in my home but I would have no reservations in employing Camilla again. A big “Thank you”, Camilla from Sue and Meg.”

“Elizabeth was great at looking after Tamu - thank you so much! She was very communicative with me sending messages and pictures regularly, which was very reassuring. She also left the house looking great too. Would happily recommend Elizabeth others.”

About: I recently moved to York for my master’s studies. While I currently live without pets, I previously lived in London with my friends and their two Belgian Malinois dogs. I also have an 8-year-old cat who is currently in Turkey, and I hope to bring him here soon. I truly love both dogs and cats and enjoy spending time with them. I am a project manager currently pursuing my postgraduate studies in York. I am flexible and available to take care of dogs and cats during the daytime. Unfortunately, my current place does not allow pets. However, I would love to meet new dogs and cats, and I am happy to take care of them in their own home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Craven walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Craven choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
