“It was great peace of mind leaving Pippa and Charlie with Sue given her experience of owning her own dogs previously - both dog were warmly welcomed and settled in quickly. When we collected they were both well looked after and clearly enjoyed the hospitality.”

“Lesley and Howard were great hosts. They were very understanding about Rico’s reactivity to other dogs, taking care to walk him in quieter areas. I was reassured that they are both experienced and confident dog owners and let Rico have the full run of their house and garden. Thank you would definitely book again.”

“Ula had a lovely time with Sarah. She was looked after from drop off to pick up. It was evident from the onset that Sarah loves dogs very much, and provides a 5-star service. Sarah would undoubtedly be my first choice should Ula require looking after in the future.”

“I was terrified of sending my rescue cat for boarding as he had never been away from his home in the 7 years he has been with me. He is an indoors-outdoors cat who has access to his cat flap at any time. Very shy with humans and friendly to other cats. And not used to be kept indoors. Vivian’s cat room is perfect, with a large bay window, shelves for the cat to climb upon, corners to hide if nervous and plenty of space to roam around. Vivian did an amazing job with my cat, being very patient to give him confidence and feel comfortable in the new surroundings and with new people. She gave him plenty of cuddles and reassurance throughout the stay. And monitored his food and drink intake as well as his litter use. Vivian also introduced him to their really sweet and cute kitten to give him a playmate. Vivian kept me updated throughout with pictures, videos and reported on his progress. I could not have dreamt of a better place and better couple to keep my cat safe, happy and comfortable during my absence. I would not hesitate to recommend Vivian’s services for boarding and will happily use again when required in future.”

“Laura and her husband Simon were nothing short of amazing! They couldn’t do enough and were very helpful and accommodating. They were welcoming and warm and have a lovely home. Daisy had the best time with them and Laura kept in touch throughout the day with lots of photo’s including Daisy enjoying a nice walk! Thank you both so much! (I actually think Daisy misses you both a little).. I’d definitely book again!”

“It was the first time we had ever left Roxy overnight. We were really worried about leaving her at all. However we were greatly impressed with the young couple who looked after her. They went above and beyond to make Roxy feel at home and cared for her exceptionally well, sending us regular pup dates on how she was. They have a great set up and large garden, and are close to a large country park for walking and adventures. We both are very fussy people but we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high standard of care for their dog. We have already booked with them again, as we know Roxy will be well cared for.”

“Would highly recommend Carly if anyone was looking for a pet sitter. She communicated with us regularly for peace of mind and sent photos of our dog enjoying lots of lovely walks. Thank you very much for everything!”

“Jessica and Lewis were amazing with our two whippets. Lots of exercise and lots of love was given to my dogs, that I could see on the daily morning and evening updates. When we went to pick them up, after jumping on us, they went back to Jessica and Lewis for cuddles on the sofa and that told me everything I needed to know. I have one dog that isn’t a fan of strangers and she was definitely at ease and relaxed with them which is a testament to the kindness and love they showed her. 💖💖 Their dog Ralph was a wonderful friend to my dogs as well 😊”

“My Storm went for a sleep over as an extended meet and greet to see if Tracy and her were a match.. I could tell instantly that Storm was comfortable. I got photos and updates.. and when Storm was dropped off she was happy.. and as soon as Tracy's back was turned Storm jumped back into her car.. although I wasnt impressed that Storm was happy to go back off with Tracy it gave me comfort that she had clearly given her the care and love that she receives at home... have already rebooked for a longer stay.. I just hope I get a better greeting off Storm after my trip. Thank you, 🐾”

“From the moment we dropped Mabel off, it was clear that she was in great hands. Mabel had a lovely stay with Nicola, Rebecca and Teddy. We received regular updates, including photos and messages, which gave us total peace of mind. We could tell our pup was well cared for, happy, and comfortable the entire time. She had a great time playing with Teddy in the garden, snuggles on the sofa and even got treated to a pub trip. We highly recommend Nicola to anyone looking for a caring, responsible, and communicative sitter. We’ll definitely be booking Mabel in for a holiday again soon!”

“We left our beloved dog Blue for the first time ever with Walter and Angela. They were brilliant from start to finish. We felt instantly reassured that Blue was in good hands. He is an older dog with particular needs and they managed them with great care and easy. We had regular updates from them too.Plus their own dog Bonnie is a very friendly gorgeous dog with a wonderful temperament. I would highly recommend them. Thank you both!”

“Kath and her husband put us at ease straight away when meeting our dog. So welcoming and lovely. Badger has had a wonderful few days which included plenty of playtime, walks and splashing in water. Thank you again.”

“Gizmo had another great stay with Aaliyah. It was lovely to see how excited he was to see her again. Aaliyah sent some great photos whilst looking after him and you could see how happy and content he was. I would absolutely recommend Aaliyah.”

“I couldn’t recommend Olaniyi enough. This was my first time leaving Bailey with him and, naturally, I was a little worried about how he would settle, but Olaniyi was absolutely brilliant with him. He kept me updated throughout our holiday with messages and photos, which really gave me peace of mind. Bailey was initially a little nervous and even fussy with his food, but Olaniyi was so patient with him, took the time to understand him and even found a food he enjoyed. By the end of his stay, Bailey was completely settled, happy and following him everywhere! 😂❤️ It was obvious when we collected Bailey that he had been genuinely cared for and treated like part of the family. I would happily leave Bailey with Olaniyi again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone kind, patient and trustworthy to care for their dog. Thank you again! 🐶❤️”

Shirley is absolutely amazing! 🥰 We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to look after our dogs. The regular updates and photos made us feel so reassured while we were away. It was lovely to see how happy and settled they were. Poppy & Coco were clearly treated like part of the family and had the best time! ❤️ We’re so grateful for all the love, care and attention they received. We will definitely be using Shirley again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their fur babies! 🐾💕

From the very start we knew Lola was going to be well looked after by Alex and Madeline. She took to them immediately and it seemed the feeling was mutual. They were super thorough in every way, including a detailed questionnaire, clarification of all requirements, gave us information and asked us all our preferences. It was clear she was in safe hands. Lola is on meds and that was handled superbly. She clearly had a great time and we were sent updates which were really cute! In all Lola had a great time and we felt completely confident she was in good hands. Will definitely be coming back! Thank you so much Alex and Madeline!

My dog was very unsettled at the start and Sally was reassuring and sending me pictures and updates no matter what time i asked. Sally took my dog to her caravan for a few days with her and my dog seemed to love the time spent with Sally and Flea once she had settled. My dog came back absolutely knackered but that makes me think she's had a really good time and was watching Sally leave our house as she brought her back home. Sally was so reassuring and friendly and make me feel at ease as a first time of leaving my dog alone and will definitely book with her again if needed in the future. Thanks ever so much 😍

Courtney was amazing with Renzo, we couldn’t have asked for better care at all! He was the happiest little boy and Courtney was amazing with him, and was in constant communication, which was also great! Couldn’t recommend Courtney high enough to anyone else looking to book someone to care for their bundle of joy. Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 😃

Sian was incredible, so accommodating and my little jack has fallen in love with her. He came back tail wagging, better behaved and nice and sleepy. Sian kept me regularly updated the entire time to ease the stress of being away from a member of the family. Could not recommend her more, will definitely book again in future.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
