“Sue looked after Rosie for three nights, she made her feel like she was part of the family and sent us regular updates. I can see how happy she was to stay with Sue and will definitely be using her again x”

“Thank you Vivian and your husband for taking such good care of my two cats. You gave me daily updates right on time, spent extra time playing with them and even looked after one of them who has some respiratory issues with great attention. You were friendly, polite, and very thoughtful. I’ll definitely come back to you next time I need cat boarding!”
“My pooch was treated like a Prince and he was very comfortable and seemed happy within his surroundings when we went back to pick him up.He was very well looked after and would 100% recommend to other dog owners. Will definitely book again if and when required.”

“Alexandra and Chris were absolutely fantastic looking after our dog, Harley, while we were away in Cardiff for a few days. From the moment we dropped her off, we knew she was in safe and caring hands. They kept us updated throughout our trip with regular messages and lovely photos, which gave us real peace of mind and allowed us to relax knowing Harley was happy and well looked after. It was clear she was getting plenty of attention, care, and affection. We couldn’t have asked for better sitters, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with Alexandra and Chris again. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for kind, reliable, and trustworthy people to care for their dog. Thank you both for taking such great care of Harley!”

“It was the first time we had ever left Roxy overnight. We were really worried about leaving her at all. However we were greatly impressed with the young couple who looked after her. They went above and beyond to make Roxy feel at home and cared for her exceptionally well, sending us regular pup dates on how she was. They have a great set up and large garden, and are close to a large country park for walking and adventures. We both are very fussy people but we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high standard of care for their dog. We have already booked with them again, as we know Roxy will be well cared for.”

“I would definitely recommend booking Carly. Communication was excellent from start to finish and she made sure Charlie settled in well. Carly kept me updated throughout her stay, which gave me real peace of mind. Charlie was happy and well cared for and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.”

“Laura and her husband Simon were nothing short of amazing! They couldn’t do enough and were very helpful and accommodating. They were welcoming and warm and have a lovely home. Daisy had the best time with them and Laura kept in touch throughout the day with lots of photo’s including Daisy enjoying a nice walk! Thank you both so much! (I actually think Daisy misses you both a little).. I’d definitely book again!”

“We left our beloved dog Blue for the first time ever with Walter and Angela. They were brilliant from start to finish. We felt instantly reassured that Blue was in good hands. He is an older dog with particular needs and they managed them with great care and easy. We had regular updates from them too.Plus their own dog Bonnie is a very friendly gorgeous dog with a wonderful temperament. I would highly recommend them. Thank you both!”

About: Myself and my husband have grown up with dogs and have embraced them into our family life.Mainly large, male dogs some with challenging behaviour issues. We have recently lost our much loved dog in a tragic accident and consequently we have started to look after friends and family's pets and have really enjoyed this and want it to continue. We live in a nice, semi rural area with a multitude of walks on our doorstep. We have great flexibility as we are self employed and work close to home. We are early risers so would be able to take your dog out for a walk before work, and/or take your dog with us, or pop home regularly if required. We are a self employed couple with great flexibility. We have a fenced garden and yard with access to many local walks. We would treat your dog as if it was our own and maintain your boundaries and preferences around behaviour and routine.
“This is Kittys second home, she is so well looked after and enjoys being treated as part of the family. We feel so confident and comfortable going away knowing she is in such good hands. Absolutely first class in every way.”

“Sandra looked after Storm for an evening and Storm had a great time and settled in so quickly with her and her partner. I got lots of videos and photos which helped put my mind at ease that Storm was having a great time. Storm can be unsure of new people, but Sandra agreed to a pre meet and also made sure she asked lots of questions so she knew how to best look after Strom. Storm also had a day visit with Sandra and her partner for a walk and had a great time. Thanks so much!”

We couldn't be happier with the care Riley received while we were away camping for a couple of nights. We had regular updates and photos throughout, which gave us real peace of mind, and it was clear he was happy, relaxed and being well looked after. What really stood out was how thoughtful they were during the hot weather, making sure he was walked at the right times so he stayed safe and comfortable. They genuinely went above and beyond. They were friendly, caring and professional from start to finish, and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again. If you're looking for someone you can trust to look after your dog as if it were their own, I'd highly recommend them.

Halley has had another amazing stay with Shirley, she settled back in well. Shirley has been amazing at accommodating Halley at short notice and rearranged her plans multiple times to help out which I really appreciate. Halley gets 5 star treatment with Shirley, I always receive updates and photos of her having a fabulous time.
Maddie and Alex boarded our ten month old Doberman puppy again last weekend so we could attend a wedding. When Roxy arrived at their house her tail began to wag and she was eager to get into the house, and play with them both. She was happy to see them knowing she would be looked after. She went on lots of long walks in the countryside and was very well cared for. I am fussy who we leave Roxy with, but would highly recommend this young couple to look after your pet. They are knowledgeable about dogs and go out of their way to accommodate your requirements. Again would highly recommend. Thanks again from Julie and Mike.

My dog was very unsettled at the start and Sally was reassuring and sending me pictures and updates no matter what time i asked. Sally took my dog to her caravan for a few days with her and my dog seemed to love the time spent with Sally and Flea once she had settled. My dog came back absolutely knackered but that makes me think she's had a really good time and was watching Sally leave our house as she brought her back home. Sally was so reassuring and friendly and make me feel at ease as a first time of leaving my dog alone and will definitely book with her again if needed in the future. Thanks ever so much 😍

Courtney was amazing with Renzo, we couldn’t have asked for better care at all! He was the happiest little boy and Courtney was amazing with him, and was in constant communication, which was also great! Couldn’t recommend Courtney high enough to anyone else looking to book someone to care for their bundle of joy. Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 😃

Sian was incredible, so accommodating and my little jack has fallen in love with her. He came back tail wagging, better behaved and nice and sleepy. Sian kept me regularly updated the entire time to ease the stress of being away from a member of the family. Could not recommend her more, will definitely book again in future.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
