“Rachel was fantastic with Stevie! Met us beforehand last minute to put us at ease about leaving her, sent regular updates and lots of great photos and we could tell she put time and effort into playing with Stevie and getting to know her and she definitely knows her stuff when it comes to dogs. Stevie also made a new friend in Bowie! We would 100% recommend and leave Stevie with Rachel again. 5 ⭐️”

“This is the first time we ever left Marlo on his own and Jodi was simply the perfect host for him. A real dog lover and it showed through her caring nature and making him feel so comfortable. Within a day he had her wrapped around his paw and although he's a pampered pooch, no task was too small for Jodi. Marlo has a routine and Jodi did a perfect job of feeding him and walking him. She also has two beautiful dogs that were very comfortable to have Marlo there. Regular updates and photos put our minds at ease. Jodi is absolutely fantastic and we would use her again without a second thought. Thank you so much Jodi you're the best xx”

“Ziggy had a wonderful time with Christine and her lovely son. He settled quickly and loved having a little buddy to play with. I received updates, photos and videos on him enjoying walks and playing fetch in the garden. He was extremely relaxed and happy when I picked him up, and I hope he can stay again.”

“Winnie had the best time with Rachel, loved the constant updates on her stay. I want to thank you so much for looking after her especially in such high temperatures. She looked like she had a lovely time and if you’ll have her I’m sure she would love to stay with you again :) ❤️”

“This was our first time leaving our dog with anyone who wasn't family and we was a little worried ,however, there was no need to be at all. Louie and family took him in and Charlie had a great time! He was well looked after and by the sounds of things, they was able to give him his medication & Charlie thrived being there, plenty of walks, attention and they cared for him like he was their own. We would 100% reccomend & will be using again the next time we need a dog sitter.”

About: I have grown up with pets from a young age, which has given me strong experience and confidence in caring for animals. I currently have a cat of 4 years and a dog of 1 year, so I am familiar with both daily care routines and understanding different pet needs. I am currently not working and I am at home full time, so I have plenty of time to give pets attention, care for them, and play with them. I have a garden and a friendly dog, which helps create a safe and welcoming environment for other pets. I ensure all animals are supervised, well cared for, and introduced carefully to maintain comfort and safety.
“Well Harley has certainly enjoyed her stay, Bettyna gave regular updates while we were away on our holiday. Gave us lots of peace of mind. Thanks so much, we will definitely re book for our next trip away x”

“What can I say, this by far is one of the best home stays Rio has had! Bruna and her family have been fantastic from the moment I made contact with them. From the very first conversation we had I knew Bruna was the right fit for Rio from the questions she asked. I could tell straight away that she and her family will love and care for Rio in the same way that we do and I wasn’t wrong. Bruna knew I was nervous about leaving a very precious member of our family with her but from the moment we dropped Rio off she made sure to put my nervousness to rest. She was prepared with lots of questions before we left and whilst we were away I got regular updates throughout the day. She has kept his routine that he has at home and looked after him really well during this heatwave. Bruna and her family have done everything to make their home welcoming for Rio and taken exceptional care of him. I would not hesitate to leave Rio with Bruna again, if anything I hope Bruna and her family can be regular carers for Rio. I would highly recommend Bruna for any kind of dog sitting / boarding, she is so loving and caring and has treated Rio like her own. Thank you so much Bruna ❤️.”

“Absolutely incredible, not only does she take incredible care of your dog and treats them as her own, she also offers pick ups and drop offs for an additional charge which is extremely handy. I got sent a tonne of pictures and videos throughout my dogs stay and he looked incredibly happy. Despite max never have been away from me before overnight he settled extremely well. Would highly recommend and thank you again, Max will definitely miss you and his new furry friend 🐾”

“We really couldn’t have asked for a better person to have looked after our Mabel. She was happy and content during the whole visit. Francis kept us updated daily with messages and videos which meant a lot to us. Cannot recommend Francis enough. We will definitely be using him again.”

“Cosmo had such a great day with Emily! I was kept up-to-date with photos etc and it was clear Cosmo was having a blast - he was absolutely wiped out after, and I got a bit of peace in the evening! He was having too much fun during the day :) 10/10 would 100% recommend Emily and will definitely send Cosmo again.”

“Busta had the best time with Katie and her partner, they sent lots of pictures and kept me up to date on everything he was doing. He seemed so happy with Katie’s dog buster! He looked so happy and settled really well. Will definitely use Katie again! 🩵”

“Beverley was so welcoming and made us feel confident in leaving our dog for the first time . Duncan, Beverley's dog was so cute, bith digs got on really well. Wouldn't hesitate to use again and would recommend to friends and family.”

About: I am a Primary School Teacher in the day, but happy to look after your furry loved ones for long weekends or during school holidays. I have a high-energy Hungarian boy Vizsla myself so we enjoy long walks and cuddles on the couch. I’d be happy to look after your dog and send lots of videos and photos! I currently work full-time as a teacher, with the odd day off in the middle of the week. I am available for weekend work and boarding over school holidays! I have a detached property with a fenced garden area. I also live near parks and fields for fun with a ball, or two! We have lots of space for the dogs to run, play and snuggle!
“Fabulous, It was like home from home. Teddy had a brilliant time and has slept all afternoon. Thanks Christine. Would thoroughly recommend Christine for peace of mind and the excellent care she takes of your precious pooch xx”

“Our Frenchie has had as good a time as us on holiday Great communication with Wes, did prior dog walks and stay over to ensure our Frenchie fitted in with Wes’s lovely pair of Frenchies. Wes kept us updated with pictures and allowed us to relax whilst on holiday. Would highly recommend Wes as a dog boarder and will definitely be using Wes again. 🐶”

“Just picked Tyson up from Danielle and once again she has gone above & beyond for him . All the walks cuddles and play he needs Tyson is given but when he,s not sleeping and wide awake Danielle makes sure she does everything to make him more settled & relaxed without much sleep herself. He,s even got a fave toy out the toy box now ! Danielle is brilliant with our big bear .”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Saint Helens
We couldn’t have asked for a better first experience leaving our puppy, Milo. As first-time owners, we were naturally quite nervous about leaving him with anyone, but from the moment we spoke to her, she immediately put our minds at ease. She was incredibly knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and it was obvious how much she genuinely cares about dogs. Throughout Milo’s stay, she sent us lots of updates, photos, and messages, which gave us so much reassurance and allowed us to relax knowing he was in great hands. It was clear he was being well looked after and having a great time. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, experienced, and trustworthy dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Milo!

I booked Jodi to look after my very sensitive dog Daisy as I was going in hospital for a procedure only overnight I was worried about Daisy as she’s a very nervous dog But she was fine with Jodi and her family Now if I ever have to use rover again I will use Jodi again and feel very comfortable That Daisy will be happy there Thanks Jodi you were ace with my Daisy xxx

Buzz had a great time with Chrissie! He had regular walks and plenty of cuddles whilst he was there, which are his two favourite things! We were kept updated and sent photos of his stay, which put us at ease as he hadn’t stayed with Chrissie before. Would highly recommend Chrissie to anyone looking for someone to have their dog well loved and looked after whilst they are away. We will definitely use again! Thanks Chrissie!

Garry looked after my lovely little terrier and she had a lovely time. He sent photos and videos the whole weekend so I didn’t need to worry. He took my dog for a swim in his local lake and she loved it. His two dogs are super friendly and clearly very well-socialised. He even showered Star so she came back cleaner than when she went. Thank you, Garry. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Elaine and Gary are doing a great job in taking care of Jumbo. They are caring to his well being and his needs. Sometimes Jumbo might be naughty but they are super patience. They will share the photos with us every day which gives us a lot of confidence that he is being taking good care of.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
