Francis looked after our two little dogs whilst we went to get married. We received pics and videos of their time with him and everything showed that they were being cared for just as we do. He basically loved them. Thank you so much Francis - you are great

Penny absolutely loved Rachel! She settled in so quick after dropping her off, and felt right at home, playing in the garden and having cuddles on the couch in no time! She was even crying when I drove away the next day 😭😭😅 We’ve already rebooked a few more days in August, and I’m sure Penny can’t wait!! Excellent communication with Rachel as well, not to mention lots of updates and pictures throughout her stay!

What can I say, this by far is one of the best home stays Rio has had! Bruna and her family have been fantastic from the moment I made contact with them. From the very first conversation we had I knew Bruna was the right fit for Rio from the questions she asked. I could tell straight away that she and her family will love and care for Rio in the same way that we do and I wasn’t wrong. Bruna knew I was nervous about leaving a very precious member of our family with her but from the moment we dropped Rio off she made sure to put my nervousness to rest. She was prepared with lots of questions before we left and whilst we were away I got regular updates throughout the day. She has kept his routine that he has at home and looked after him really well during this heatwave. Bruna and her family have done everything to make their home welcoming for Rio and taken exceptional care of him. I would not hesitate to leave Rio with Bruna again, if anything I hope Bruna and her family can be regular carers for Rio. I would highly recommend Bruna for any kind of dog sitting / boarding, she is so loving and caring and has treated Rio like her own. Thank you so much Bruna ❤️.

Louie and his family are amazing. I cannot praise them enough for how well they have taken care of our boy George. They loved him as if he was their own and so when my dad went to collect him he was extremely reluctant to leave!!! We were able to enjoy our holiday without any worries knowing our precious pooch was in excellent hands. 😊

Alba was the best person we could have chosen. What gave us the most peace of mind during the days she took care of our babies was how frequently she kept us updated, which allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. Alba followed all the instructions we left, especially regarding the amount of food (our dogs are predisposed to pancreatitis). She gave them natural treats like broccoli, carrots, and fruits that they are used to and are allowed to eat. Our babies clearly loved staying with her, and the feeling was mutual. Alba truly loves animals and cares for them as if they were her own. We were so satisfied that we’ve already booked her a second time. Even though it’s for fewer days, she will always be our first choice.

About: Experienced dog owner and sitter with years of caring for many breeds and ages. Confident with puppies, training, and older dogs. Working from home means I can provide plenty of attention, company and round-the-clock care. I work 8am-4pm, but my partner Gemma works from home, so your dog will have company and care all day. We have plenty of time for walks, play and cuddles throughout the week, and are around all weekend. Boarding from 9am weekdays and weekends. We have a spacious, secure fenced garden with plenty of grass for play and relaxation, plus large playing fields right outside, perfect for dog walks. Our two dog-friendly cats are used to sharing their home with dogs, and there’s plenty of space for everyone. We can only board dogs that are used to cats and are not aggressive toward them.

Abby looked after our dog so well. It was a last minute booking and she stepped up just in time for our trip. She made the effort to come out before the trip at short notice to meet our dog. Lady is energetic and needs lots of walks to tire her out and she came back really tired and content. Will use again

We were really nervous about leaving Spud, but we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Francis. Spud stayed alongside two other dogs, and Francis took the time to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable and helped Spud navigate meeting two new dogs. Spud is great with other dogs and very inquisitive, and it was so reassuring knowing that Francis understood him and made sure everything was managed properly. Spud had also managed to get a wound on his head just before his stay and Francis was absolutely brilliant with it. He kept it lovely and clean, monitored it for us and kept us updated, which was a huge weight off our minds. Throughout his stay we had regular updates, photos and videos, so we could actually relax knowing he was happy, safe and very well looked after. And he clearly had the BEST time! So much so that since coming home, we’re fairly sure he’s a little bit depressed and missing his new friend Francis! Thank you so much for looking after our boy so well. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave Spud with Francis again and would absolutely recommend him.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
