“Elina took wonderful care of our whippet, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. She was extremely responsive both before the stay and throughout, which gave us real peace of mind. We received plenty of photos and updates, and it was clear he was enjoying every minute. What really stood out was how she treated him like her own—giving him genuine care, attention, and affection. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Elina’s services again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“Alan, Hil and their son took excellent care of our dog Honey for a week. We got regular updates with lots of pictures and videos. Honey always looked like she was having the best time. They provided lots of mental and physical enrichment for her. They took her out on lots of walks and trips out to the forest and river. They treated her like a part of their family. I wouldn't hesitate to have them look after Honey again in future and will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a sitter.”

“My big lively Chocolate Lab, Alfie, absolutely loved his stay with Celine, he is quite needy and a bit spoilt, so I was a bit nervous about leaving him for a week. However, Celine and her family made him very welcome and treated him as part of their family. Celine sent me loads of updates - photos, videos and messages and I was very quickly re-assured that he was not only being very well looked after, but was actually enjoying a holiday of his own! I would have no hesitation in recommending Celine , and will definitely be sending Alfie to stay next time we go away.”

“Absolutely amazing! Plenty of updates, allowed us a little leeway on times due to fight delays! Met up before hand to make sure our dogs got along! Poppys come home happy and tired 😂 thank you so much!”

“Colin had a great time. It was the first visit to a new minder and Annchalee and Will were lovely. We received picture updates with messages to let us know how Colin was and we could not have asked for a better experience for him. Thank you both.”

“Buddy had a lovely time with Pauline,a home from home. Pauline is amazing and a really lovely sitter and I am so glad I found her for Buddy, she understands his needs and little ways perfectly. Thank you so much Pauline, see you soon”

“I cannot recommend Viviene highly enough! She took such wonderful care of my sprocker, Penny, and treated her as if she were her own. Penny absolutely loved her time with Viviene, from the lovely long walks to all the care and attention she received, it was clear she was in the best hands. Viviene is not only reliable and professional, but also genuinely kind and loving with dogs, which gave me complete peace of mind while Penny was with her. It’s easy to see how much she truly cares for the animals she looks after. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and amazing with dogs, Viviene is the perfect choice. I’ll definitely be booking with her again, thank you so much for looking after Penny so brilliantly!”

“Paige has looked after my dog for a week and I cannot recommend her enough! Winter was really happy and got her exercise and loads of attention and love while staying with Paige. We had daily updates with photos and videos and we were rest assured the whole time that our dog is having a great time. Will be booking more stays in the future. :)”

“Brilliant care for my little Pixie, not sure if she wanted to go back home ? Emma was great, sending me updates every day with some pictures and videos of Pixie. I couldn't ask for more. I am very happy and already booked next week of care for my doggy in July with Emma. Thank you for everything and see you soon xx”

“Another brilliant stay for our Bailey. As always Sinead was responsive and the ease of booking, drop off and collection was great. Communication throughout the visit to say how he was getting on with pictures. Bailey loves going to stay and this reflects how great the care he gets is.”

“This was our first time leaving Teddy with a boarder and I feel like we have made a great pick with Artur and Wioleta! They have been great in wanting to meet him and have a trial stay before a longer stay later in the year. A real home from home environment 😊”

“Lauren was absolutely amazing with our 10-month-old Cockapoo, Max. We booked a last-minute holiday and were so lucky to find Lauren, who was available to look after our boy. She sent us lots of photos and videos throughout his stay, keeping us updated on what he was up to, which really reassured me that he was happy, settled and being well looked after. In fact, for a minute I thought he was having so much fun with Lauren’s dog, Ivy, that Max wouldn’t want to come home! 😃 Lauren clearly has lots of experience with dogs and is such a warm, friendly person. I would have absolutely no hesitation in using her again and would highly recommend her to all my friends and family. Thank you so much, Lauren, for taking such wonderful care of Max. 😊❤️”

“A very lovely couple with a sweet dog of their own. They made Dolly very welcome and she was very happy to stay with them, I have rebooked for another weekend. Their set-up is very professional and there is plenty of space in the area for walkies.”

“What can I say!!!! I left my precious boy with Emily & Rich for 18 days whilst going on holiday. Despite my boy staying on several settling in weekends and I knew he would be looked after well - it tore my heart to leave him. However Emily and Rich “got me”. They knew how much Beaux means to me and how I worry about him being a flat faced dog in the recent heat. Emily put my mind at rest sending me pictures and updates of how he was doing. It really reassured me despite me continuing to miss him ! There’s no wonder Emily is booked up so much! The care, attention and understanding is second to none. I have absolutely 100% faith and have no issues leaving Beaux with her. After all - he practically runs in to the house when we go there!! (Which is also so reassuring that he’s happy to go in!!). Thanks so very much - see you again soon!!! Xxx”

“Excellent service from Filip. Ted was spoilt and well looked after. Plenty of pictures and good communication. Filip even picked me up from the station on his way to drop Ted. Very impressed and definitely use again. In fact already booked in for next week. Good job.”

“Laura and Josh looked after my little dog Luna over the bank holiday weekend. From the minute I dropped Luna off I felt confident leaving her, Laura & Josh are such a lovely couple and you can see how much they love dogs. I’ve had regular updates throughout the weekend, I could see how happy Luna was in their company. I would recommend Laura & Josh for dog care without hesitation and will definitely re-booking in the future. Thank you so much for looking after Luna like she was your own dog xx”

Polly came to rescue for us at very late notice after we were let down by another boarder. Turned out to all be for the best! The communication was excellent, he was taken for some lovely walks and generally treated like part of the family. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Polly. Our dog Jimmy will definitely be coming back!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
