“We couldn’t have asked for a better first overnight experience for our dog than with Elina. We were a bit nervous to leave him, but from the moment we had the meet-and-greet with Elina and her dogs, we felt completely reassured that he would be in excellent hands. Elina’s communication was outstanding both before and during the stay. She kept us updated throughout and totally put our minds at ease. It was clear from the updates (and from how happy and relaxed he was afterwards!) that he had an amazing time. We would absolutely book with Elina again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an incredibly caring and reliable sitter.”

“I have just been away for the weekend and left my dog Luna with Rhian. From the first message Rhian was excellent at communicating and as it was the first time leaving my dog with her, she arranged a meet and greet. All went well and left me feeling comfortable leaving my dog with her. I received updates throughout the weekend with lots of pictures. It is clear that Rhian loves dogs and enjoys looking after them. I would highly recommend Rhian and will book again in the future. Thank you for looking after Luna as if she was your own x”

“Cannot thank Celine and her wonderful family enough for taking such good care of Lexi. Lexi had the best time ever and was treated like royalty. I would not choose anyone else. Celine is by far the best sitter we have ever had. Thank you so much!”
About: For as long as I can remember, dogs have been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve cared for all sorts — from playful puppies finding their paws to gentle seniors who just want a quiet cuddle. I’ve had the joy of looking after everything from tiny Brussels Griffons to giant English Mastiffs, each with their own quirks and charm. Much of my time has been spent managing small groups of dogs, whether out exploring open fields or in safe, enclosed spaces. I’ve learnt how to keep even the most energetic breeds — like Labradors, Border Collies, and Cocker Spaniels — happy, calm, and well-exercised. Above all, I take pride in creating a caring, fun, and secure environment where every dog feels at home. Running my own business gives me a lot of flexibility, which means I can easily fit pet care into my week. I’m generally available Monday to Friday, with plenty of time for everything from a quick midday walk to a longer afternoon play session or even an overnight stay. Because my schedule’s my own, I can adapt to what works best for you and your pet — keeping things simple, reliable, and stress-free for everyone. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing always come first. I follow all the recommended animal welfare guidelines and take extra care to make sure every pet feels comfortable and secure from day one. Before any booking, I like to arrange a meet-and-greet to get to know your pet — their personality, temperament, and what helps them feel at ease. Home Care: When looking after pets in their own homes, I make sure their usual routine is kept as normal as possible. I double-check that all doors and gates are secure before letting any dogs out, keeping their environment calm and familiar. Dog Walking: I plan walks carefully, matching dogs with similar temperaments, sizes, and energy levels. I never overcrowd groups — it’s all about balance and safety. For transport, I use a secure, well-ventilated crate system in my van so every dog travels comfortably and safely. My goal is simple: to build trust with every pet I care for and give owners complete peace of mind knowing their furry friends are in safe, experienced hands.
“Sinead and Matt has had Shinko for a full week. Regular updates. Shinko seemed super happy being there. And he came home looking good and seeming super content. Would recommend this family looking after your fur baby any day!!! Amazing Dogsitter’s!”

“Brilliant care for my little Pixie, not sure if she wanted to go back home ? Emma was great, sending me updates every day with some pictures and videos of Pixie. I couldn't ask for more. I am very happy and already booked next week of care for my doggy in July with Emma. Thank you for everything and see you soon xx”

“Thank you so much for looking after Oscar, great service and communication/updates through out the time he was with you. We would definitely book with yourself again, thank you.”

“If I could give Emily more than 5 stars, I absolutely would ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ She lovingly cared for our Jack, while we were on holiday and I honestly don’t think he wanted to come home! From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease — and that feeling only grew while we were away. Emily included Jack in everything she did, treated him like one of her own, and made sure he felt totally “at home.” We received the loveliest photo and message updates, which made such a difference and let us properly relax knowing he was happy and settled. We came back to a very content, well-cared-for little dog. I would recommend Emily to anyone looking for kind, reliable, home-from-home care for their pet. We’ll 100% be booking with her again!”

“We can't thank Paige enough for the wonderful care she gave Jasper during his stay with her. We had daily updates on how he was doing, especially all the cuddles and lovely walks he enjoyed. We'll definitely ask Paige to take care of Jasper in the future. Thankyou so much Paige - you are fabulous ❤️🌺❤️”

“I cannot recommend Viviene highly enough! She took such wonderful care of my sprocker, Penny, and treated her as if she were her own. Penny absolutely loved her time with Viviene, from the lovely long walks to all the care and attention she received, it was clear she was in the best hands. Viviene is not only reliable and professional, but also genuinely kind and loving with dogs, which gave me complete peace of mind while Penny was with her. It’s easy to see how much she truly cares for the animals she looks after. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and amazing with dogs, Viviene is the perfect choice. I’ll definitely be booking with her again, thank you so much for looking after Penny so brilliantly!”

“Bruce had another wonderful stay with Artur and Wioleta. He was so happy to see Wioleta again he ran straight into the house and made himself at home. Artur and Wioleta are such a lovely couple who absolutely love dogs and they took great care of Bruce throughout his stay, sending lots of videos and photos.”

“Rufus had a lovely time and Pauline looked after him with great care in the current heatwave, making sure he was drinking regularly, keeping him cool and only attempting short walks at cooler times of day. It had been a little while since he last stayed, but we could tell he was excited to see her when we arrived. As usual, we had great communication from Pauline and updates as to how Rufus was getting on. And she had remembered all his details, funny habits and requirements! Pauline’s home is set up perfectly to look after dogs and we feel very confident about leaving Rufus in her care. He was treated like one of the family. Thank you Pauline.”

“Couldn’t rate Bree and Henry highly enough. Both super friendly and made be feel at ease. It is really hard leaving your fur baby but they both kept me updated throughout stay with photos and videos. They were also so flexible and understanding when I had train delays resulting in being late for pick up. Thank you Bree and Henry”

“Samantha and her family were amazing! Great communication throughout organising the pet sitting and while our sausage dog Rupert was staying with them. We received daily photos and updates of how Rupert was getting on. We got lots of photos of Rupert hanging out with the family and he got to play with their dog Roxy. I can’t fault Samantha at all. Highly recommend Samantha and her family :)”

“Sarah took such good care of Ebenezer and sent pictures of him so I knew he was having a good time! She really put my mind at ease and I could tell she cared for him the same as she cared for her own sweet dog. The two of them got along great, too! Highly recommended.”

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
