We couldn’t have asked for a better first overnight experience for our dog than with Elina. We were a bit nervous to leave him, but from the moment we had the meet-and-greet with Elina and her dogs, we felt completely reassured that he would be in excellent hands. Elina’s communication was outstanding both before and during the stay. She kept us updated throughout and totally put our minds at ease. It was clear from the updates (and from how happy and relaxed he was afterwards!) that he had an amazing time. We would absolutely book with Elina again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an incredibly caring and reliable sitter.

Rhian is really a star. She made me feel so comfortable with leaving my puppy with her and you can tell how much she loves and cares for each dog she looks after. I received constant updates and he was the happiest boy ever - don’t think he wanted to come home. Honestly couldn’t recommend a better person to look after your pooches. Amazing from beginning to end.

Pauline was very accommodating. From the initial query, meet and greet and eventually stay. Daisy was well looked after and got plenty of exercise and attention and you can just tell Pauline loves dogs. Receiving updates throughout her stay was also a very nice touch.

Boarding our dog Milo with Timea was our first experience using Rover. We were really impressed with Timea throughout the process. She was friendly, communicated clearly during the booking and boarding process and most importantly cared for our furry friend with love and kindness. Timea wrote updates and was kind enough to send several photos and videos throughout our week holiday which we very much enjoyed receiving. We would be happy to board Milo with Timea again and would rest assured he would be happy, relaxed and well cared for. We would fully recommend. 5 stars!!

Lua spent over 10 days with Paige and it was absolutely brilliant. I feel she was always made to feel welcome, respected and looked after as if she were in her own home. She received plenty of attention and cuddles, just as she likes. Paige was very affectionate with her and sent lots of photos over the days. She was incredibly attentive and understood all the needs a dog of Lua’s age might have. I can only thank Paige for the way she and her family looked after Lua.

Sinead and Matt had our Ruby (7yo high energy Staffy) for a long stay while we went on our honeymoon over the festive period. We haven’t been away from her for more than a couple of days before, but the whole experience was great and comforting - from the original meet and greet, to getting updates/pictures and videos daily about how she was getting on. She can be a bit of a handful at times getting excited/reactive but the videos showed she had settled in really well, bonded with the family like she was at home, which meant we could relax and enjoy our honeymoon knowing she was in good hands. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be booking again in the future for any other holidays etc. I’m sure Ruby would appreciate more cuddles off Matt :) Thank you very much for a pleasant experience.

About: I have over 6 years of experience pet sitting, caring for a wide range of animals with different needs, temperaments, and routines. Alongside this, I work as a Veterinary Care Assistant, which has given me hands on experience in animal health, behaviour, and welfare. I’m confident handling everything from energetic puppies to senior pets, as well as small animals and more specialised care requirements. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after while their owners are away, and I always aim to keep their routine as consistent as possible. Whether it’s administering medication, managing nervous behaviour, or just making sure they get plenty of attention and exercise, I approach every pet with patience and care. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare. References are available on request. Pet care fits easily into my routine, allowing me to provide reliable and consistent visits throughout the week. I finish work at 4:30pm Monday to Wednesday, so I’m available for evening visits, feeding, and check-ins on those days. On Thursdays, I don’t start work until 11am, which means I’m available for morning visits as well as later in the day. My weekends are completely free, giving me full flexibility for multiple visits, longer stays, or more tailored care depending on your pet’s needs. I currently don’t offer pet care within my own home. In my experience, most pets feel far more comfortable and settled in their own environment, surrounded by familiar smells, routines, and spaces, which helps reduce stress while their owners are away. That said, I understand that every situation is different. I currently have no other pets in my home and live alone, so it’s a calm, quiet environment. I also have an enclosed garden and a park nearby, which is ideal for exercise and outdoor time. If care in my home is something you’re specifically looking for, it can be discussed and requested, and I’m happy to consider this on a case-by-case basis.

Samantha and her family were amazing! Great communication throughout organising the pet sitting and while our sausage dog Rupert was staying with them. We received daily photos and updates of how Rupert was getting on. We got lots of photos of Rupert hanging out with the family and he got to play with their dog Roxy. I can’t fault Samantha at all. Highly recommend Samantha and her family :)

Rufus had a lovely time and Pauline looked after him with great care in the current heatwave, making sure he was drinking regularly, keeping him cool and only attempting short walks at cooler times of day. It had been a little while since he last stayed, but we could tell he was excited to see her when we arrived. As usual, we had great communication from Pauline and updates as to how Rufus was getting on. And she had remembered all his details, funny habits and requirements! Pauline’s home is set up perfectly to look after dogs and we feel very confident about leaving Rufus in her care. He was treated like one of the family. Thank you Pauline.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
