“Elina took wonderful care of our whippet, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. She was extremely responsive both before the stay and throughout, which gave us real peace of mind. We received plenty of photos and updates, and it was clear he was enjoying every minute. What really stood out was how she treated him like her own—giving him genuine care, attention, and affection. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Elina’s services again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

“I have just been away for the weekend and left my dog Luna with Rhian. From the first message Rhian was excellent at communicating and as it was the first time leaving my dog with her, she arranged a meet and greet. All went well and left me feeling comfortable leaving my dog with her. I received updates throughout the weekend with lots of pictures. It is clear that Rhian loves dogs and enjoys looking after them. I would highly recommend Rhian and will book again in the future. Thank you for looking after Luna as if she was your own x”

“Boarding our dog Milo with Timea was our first experience using Rover. We were really impressed with Timea throughout the process. She was friendly, communicated clearly during the booking and boarding process and most importantly cared for our furry friend with love and kindness. Timea wrote updates and was kind enough to send several photos and videos throughout our week holiday which we very much enjoyed receiving. We would be happy to board Milo with Timea again and would rest assured he would be happy, relaxed and well cared for. We would fully recommend. 5 stars!!”

“Another brilliant stay for our Bailey. As always Sinead was responsive and the ease of booking, drop off and collection was great. Communication throughout the visit to say how he was getting on with pictures. Bailey loves going to stay and this reflects how great the care he gets is.”

“Colin had a great time. It was the first visit to a new minder and Annchalee and Will were lovely. We received picture updates with messages to let us know how Colin was and we could not have asked for a better experience for him. Thank you both.”

“Stella & Rosie had the best time staying with Bree & Henry. They sent lots of photos & videos which totally put our minds at ease. It’s always scary leaving your beloved doggies with unknown people but they made it easy to trust them. We felt that we were leaving them in a lovely kind family home. I can’t recommend them enough. 💕💕”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Cheshire West
Rufus had a lovely time and Pauline looked after him with great care in the current heatwave, making sure he was drinking regularly, keeping him cool and only attempting short walks at cooler times of day. It had been a little while since he last stayed, but we could tell he was excited to see her when we arrived. As usual, we had great communication from Pauline and updates as to how Rufus was getting on. And she had remembered all his details, funny habits and requirements! Pauline’s home is set up perfectly to look after dogs and we feel very confident about leaving Rufus in her care. He was treated like one of the family. Thank you Pauline.

Chad was absolutely fantastic! Detailed handover and very accommodating of Dexter’s needs. Dexter had a great time with his new friends playing in secure fields and settled in straight away into his temporary home. Excellent communication throughout his stay. Will definitely use again, thank you so much.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
