“Ellie B and her partner are an exceptional pet sitter! They went above and beyond in caring for Nala and Daphne. They paid close attention to their individual needs and routines, and I could tell Nala and Daphne were comfortable and well-looked after. It's wonderful to find someone so dedicated and trustworthy. I wouldn't hesitate to book them again!”

“Vivien was great with our dog Ringo. Daily updates and pictures were sent. Ringo had a great time and settled in well with her! It’s evident that Vivien has lots of experience with dogs. Would definitely leave Ringo with Vivien again. Thanks a lot!”

“Georgia recently looked after our cockapoo whilst we went out for dinner. Our dog has separation anxiety and does not like being away from us. Georgia arranged a meet and greet a few weeks ago so she could spend some time with him with us present and last night looked after him for the first time and all went well. We have been very worried about leaving him and took some time to find a suitable dog sitter and Georgia has been brilliant and was not phased at all about him being anxious. We are pleased we can now have a social life again and will definitely continue to book Georgia to take care of our dog!”

“We are so happy that Viv and Nick looked after our 12 year old dog Max. Max can get anxious and is usually only minded by our son and so it was really important that we found someone who was caring, friendly, reliable and trustworthy. Viv and Nick were all of these and more. They responded quickly to messages before they looked after him and we also met beforehand. Over the weekend that they looked after Max they took really good care of him and the house. They sent videos and pictures of Max which was very reassuring to see and also good to see that Max was doing great without us. We highly recommend Viv and Nick to anyone looking for pet care, and we absolutely hope to use them again in the future.”

“On time, polite, caring, natural affinity with dogs … everything that you would want from someone taking care of your home and dogs. Megan sent lots of updates and photos while we were away so we never had to worry about anything. I would have no hesitation in requesting Megan’s services again.”

“Poppy came to look after our dog Gabriel for the day so we could visit Chester Zoo. She came to meet Gabriel a couple of days before the actual date she was going to dog sit. Gabriel and Archie our elderly cat gave their approval and both made themselves at home with Poppy. Archie climbed up on her knee and Gabriel cuddled next to her. She was very friendly and we felt confident that she would look after our boys well. On the actual day she arrived very promptly giving us plenty of time to discuss any final instructions. When we returned 7 hours later Gabriel seemed very happy and content. We would happily book Poppy again if we needed a dog sitter again when we were in the Chester area.”

I love meeting new characters, caring for regulars and enjoying the walks or swims they go for when we are out and about. Snuggles and cuddles are on tap in my household but we will uphold your guidelines on commands, treats and suggestions. We will need to meet you and your pet before the booking and I will ask you to complete a form telling us all about him, her or them. Please note- for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year and Easter bank holidays there is a £20 supplement but other bank holiday days I only ask for a supplement of £10 in addition to the usual daily fee please. I am home most of the day so fuss, company and toilet breaks in addition to feeds and or medication are regular x we have space and toys too 😊 I will understand you and your pets needs, commands and routine then continue those whilst caring for your pet. If you allow treats then I will 😃
“Jacob is the safest pair of hands imaginable, looking after our energetic 8 month old Labrador. He has a unique way of being utterly calm and patient which Otter responded to immediately. Highly recommended!”

“Mario had a fantastic stay with Fleur and her partner. They looked after him so well, he came home super happy and relaxed! I highly recommend Fleur and partner. Mario can’t wait to stay again one day 🐶🐾”

“Me and my mum were very nervous leaving our two cats (one of which had just had surgery and would require a lot of care) while we went away for three weeks, but with Michelle there was no need to be! Michelle is extremely professional, kind and easy to communicate with. It was obvious that our cats received the highest standard of care while we were gone. Michelle followed our instructions for the cats perfectly, always kept us updated with messages and photos, and did a fabulous job taking care of our garden too. I would highly recommend Michelle to anyone who needs a thorough, reliable and good-with-animals pet sitter. At the end of three weeks, we have zero complaints, only very high praise for her, as she did a perfect job!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cheshire West walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cheshire West choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
