“Karen was incredible, she was so calm and considerate around Pearl who can be nervous and bark at new people. Karen took the time to let Pearl get to know her and they bonded very fast! Pearl was looked after amazingly well and we felt so comfortable leaving Pearl and the house with Karen while we were away. Could not recommend Karen enough! And I’m sure Pearl can’t wait to have her back soon. 🐾”

“Laura has been amazing with Buddy! She recently stayed and looked after him, whilst we were on a shorts break away & she really put my mind at ease when leaving him. The updates were amazing and everything was just so easy! We have already booked for Laura to stay again with Buddy later on this year! Thankyou so much for everything Laura - you are amazing!!!”

“Anna has looked after my dogs a few times now and she’s always excellent. I came home to three relaxed, happy dogs, with Benji nicely tired after two woodland walks he clearly loved, and the girls having enjoyed separate beach trips. She really understands their different needs. As always, communication was great, with regular updates and lovely photos throughout. Anna is reliable, thoughtful and brilliant with the dogs.”

About: I've been around animals my whole life and have experience caring for both dogs and cats. I currently own two dogs, including a 25kg Goldendoodle, and caring for them has given me hands-on experience with dogs of different sizes, ages, and personalities. I have experience with puppies, senior dogs, and senior dogs with medical needs, as well as administering medication, feeding, walking, and providing plenty of love and attention. My own dogs are reactive, so I'm currently working with Dog Pawfection on ongoing training. This has given me valuable experience in handling reactive, nervous, and aggressive dogs safely, including lead handling, crate training, and managing challenging situations calmly while out on walks. Alongside caring for my own pets, I've regularly looked after friends' and family's dogs over the years, so I'm confident adapting to each dog's individual routine and needs. I'm also planning to complete a canine first aid course to continue developing my knowledge and provide owners with even greater peace of mind. I work as a dental nurse during the week, so I'm available after work and on weekends. I genuinely love spending time with animals, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. My goal is always to make them feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I currently work full-time as a dental nurse, which means I'm available for pet care on evenings and weekends. Pet sitting is something I'm truly passionate about, and I'm excited to grow my client base while providing reliable, loving care to every pet I meet. My long-term goal is to gradually reduce my dental nursing hours and dedicate more of my time to caring for animals. Whether I'm looking after your pet for an evening, a weekend, or regular visits, you can count on me to treat them with the same care, patience, and attention that I give my own. When caring for your pet in your home, my priority is making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while keeping to their usual routine. I'll provide plenty of love, attention, playtime, walks, feeding, fresh water, and, of course, lots of cuddles if they enjoy them! I have experience with crate training, lead training, and reinforcing basic training around the home, so if you'd like me to continue practising simple commands and good habits while you're away, I'd be more than happy to help. I also have experience caring for reactive, nervous, and senior dogs, so I'm confident adapting my approach to suit each pet's individual needs. For cats, I'm equally happy to spend time playing, giving them affection on their terms, keeping litter trays clean, feeding them, and ensuring they have everything they need to feel relaxed and settled. Every pet is unique, so I'll always follow your instructions carefully and tailor my care to their routine, personality, and any specific requirements. I treat every pet as if they were my own, so you can have peace of mind knowing they'll be cared for with patience, kindness, and plenty of attention while you're away.

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats my whole life. I grew up with two family dogs from the age of 15, both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which we got the first at 6 months old and the second, 6 months after, at 4 months old. From an early age, I helped with their daily care, including feeding, walking, grooming and training, which gave me a great understanding of their needs and behaviour. I now have my own dog, Muffin the miniature dachshund, who I’ve had for the past year and got him when he was 9 weeks old. Raising and training my own puppy has given me hands-on experience with everything from toilet training and socialisation to building routines, reinforcing good behaviour and providing plenty of exercise, enrichment and affection. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine and needs. I’ll always make sure they feel safe, loved and well cared for while they’re with me. I have a flexible schedule and can accommodate weekday and weekend bookings. I’m reliable and able to adapt to your pet’s usual routine to ensure consistent and stress-free care. Safety and trust are my top priorities when looking after pets. I make sure to follow all care instructions closely, maintain a secure environment and build a calm, reassuring space so pets feel comfortable and relaxed while in my care.
“Outstanding!! That is the only word to describe the excellent service Natalie provides. I left my 5 year old Weimaraner Jerry for the 1st time for a family holiday with Natalie house sitting. I was nervous about leaving her but I needn’t have worried. Throughout our trip Natalie kept me up to date with messages, photos and videos of Jerry. Jerry had plenty of walks in her favourite places, play and cuddles. In fact I’m not sure she entirely missed us due to the high level of care and attention Natalie gave her. Even when snow and ice conditions meant it was impossible for Jerry to be walked, Natalie made sure Jerry had plenty to keep her happy and provided brain stimulation games and toys to keep her occupied and completely content. I really do feel like Natalie goes above and beyond to care. We returned home to a very calm and content dog thanks to Natalie. I even think Natalie may have provided an additional bit of lead training as Jerrys lead pulling has improved too. I will definitely be using Natalie’s service again and would highly recommend anyone to do the same.”

“India was fantastic! She communicated with us brilliantly, from making arrangements to for a meet and greet to sending us multiple daily photos and updates of what Peanut was up to while we were away. We felt our dog and our home was in really safe hands the whole time we were away, Peanut loved her and we won’t hesitate to book her again.”

“Kylie was amazing with our cats, she looked after both of them really well, tending to their different personalities. very friendly, positive and easy to communicate with, with consistent updates on our cats. Would highly recommend!”

“We couldn't have asked for a better house-sitter than Jordan. When he came to meet us and our dog, he was so polite and friendly, and clearly wanted to know all about her needs and routines. He provided lots of photos and updates throughout the time we were away. We got home to a very happy dog and a very clean and tidy house. He was extremely respectful of our home and attentive to our pet. We'd definitely ask Jordan to come and stay again! Highly recommend.”

“Aww Amy was amazing all round - such a nice girl and my dogs absolutely loved her. Felt so at ease leaving them with her for the weekend - would love to have her mind them again soon 😍”

About: Hi I love animals and for the last twenty years I have had the pleasure of sharing my life with cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, and fish. I have two rescue Greyhounds and have been volunteering for the Greyhound Trust and Home Run Hounds for 6 years. Prior to that I have volunteered for the RSPCA. I am currently completing an online course in dog behaviour and welfare. I have been a nurse for 30 years now working 9-5 Monday to Friday but with flexibility and my dream is to eventually work full time with animals. I'm currently working full time Monday - Friday (9-5) but there is plenty of time to help with animal care early morning, after 5pm and weekends. I volunteer at dog kennels 8-10.30am on Saturdays. I would not see fitting in animal care as a chore but instead a priveladge. Who doesn't love animal cuddles, obviously on their terms 🙂 My hope is to reduce my 9-5 nursing role and build up my animal care role. I have two rescue Greyhounds, one who is anxious and we are working on her reactivity which is through fear so at this time I am not offering home boarding however I am happy to come to you. Just let me know your routine and requirements and I will respect and work with you.

We are very happy to have found Alex. She has looked after our 2 dogs wonderfully, especially as it has been during a heatwave. She has been getting up early to take them out and waited until late evening for their 2nd walk. She has even had the paddling pool out for them. She gets to know the dogs very well and keeps you well updated with how they are. The dogs love her. The house is left very clean and tidy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely use again. Thank you so much, Alex ☺️

Tara has been amazing with Rolo! As a large dog who needs a muzzle and can be a handful she has really been a blessing when looking after him when we were away! She has got to know him really well and I’m sure he misses her since we have been home! Can’t thank you enough!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Saint Helens walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saint Helens choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
