“Lindsay took care of my cat and my mums dog in our house for a week and she was absolutely brilliant! I’m usually so anxious about leaving them both for even just a day and we’d never left them for this long before but that anxiety was quickly gone after meeting Lindsay! She sent photo updates multiple times a day, made sure the pets had daily enrichment sessions, sent us her daily dog walking route and took care of our home! The pets absolutely loved Lindsay and were super sad to see her go ❤️ If there’s anyone in Merseyside that you can rely on for taking care of your babies, it’s definitely Lindsay! 🤩”

“Professional and kept in touch throughout! Sent us loads of pictures, our cats took Emilie really well! Would recommend to anyone looking for a cat sitter and we won’t hesitate to book again!”

About: I grew up with lots of pets of all different kinds! I have had one dog and three cats, a bunny, a hamster and guinea pigs. And yes, simultaneously! All my family always had pets too, so I am used to taking care of them when the family went on holiday 😁 I have also looked after my friends’ pets often, from a husky to a bulldog, to the most divas of black cats! I love animals and I can assure you that your pets will be in very good hands and showered in love 🥰 I currently work from home on most days, going into the office only once a week, so I am available to flat-sit for long periods of time or to have a pet here all day! I love to go on walks with dogs and play around with cats, so me and your pet will have the best time! I live in a flat, close to the docks, which is perfect when taking a dog on a walk by the river. Either at yours or mine, I will strictly follow your instructions and update you regularly on how your baby is doing. I do my best to get the pet comfortable around me to make sure we have the best time!
About: Hi, I’m Lauren and I’m 27. I have years of experience caring for both cats and small dogs through family pets, as well as owning a lovely, playful Siberian cat myself. I understand that pets need plenty of love, attention, and play, especially when their owners are away and their routine has changed. Alongside my love for animals, I have recently worked in front-facing customer service roles in both a hospital and an international school. These roles have taught me the importance of responsibility, reliability, and providing a caring, reassuring experience, which are qualities I believe are just as important when looking after someone’s beloved pet. As a pet owner myself, I know how worrying it can be to leave your pet in someone else’s care. That’s why I understand how important it is to find a sitter who will take the time to understand your pet’s individual needs, helping them feel happy, calm, and comfortable. My aim is to be someone you can trust and rely on, knowing your pet is in safe and caring hands. I decided to start pet sitting because I really miss my own cat, who is currently living with my boyfriend while I’m studying at university and staying in student accommodation. I’d be delighted to spend time caring for other people’s pets, giving them the same love, attention, and affection that I’d want for my own. I will be at uni typically 4 days a week 9am-5.30pm with a 1 hour break at lunchtime, so during weekdays (depending on distance) I can stop by in the morning, at lunchtime and again in the evening for feedings, toilet breaks and attention 🐾 On my 1 weekday off and weekends I am fully available to visit or stay overnight. As I currently live in student accommodation, I’m unable to offer pet boarding in my own home. However, when caring for pets in their own home, I will always make their safety, comfort, and wellbeing my top priority. I will ensure that anything potentially harmful is kept safely out of your pet’s reach and that your home is left exactly as you expect. I’ll make sure your pet receives plenty of attention, play, exercise (where appropriate), and affection while maintaining their usual routine as closely as possible. Before our booking starts, I’ll take the time to learn about your pet’s individual needs, including their feeding schedule, any allergies or medical conditions, medications, exercise requirements, and any likes, dislikes, or behaviours I should be aware of. I’ll also monitor their eating, drinking, and toilet habits to make sure everything is normal, and I’ll let you know straight away if I notice anything that concerns me. I would like to provide a safe, calm, and caring environment where your pet feels happy and secure while you’re away, giving you complete peace of mind.
About: I’ve always loved dogs and we currently have four of our own, 3 Chow Chows and 1 Morkie from age 4-14, so I’m very used to caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, temperaments and needs. I have hands on experience caring for a dog through pregnancy, supporting a litter, and helping raise puppies from birth. I’m confident with all the day to day care dogs need, including walks, feeding routines, grooming, playtime and making sure they feel safe and settled. I also have experience caring for dogs with additional health needs, as one of my own dogs has arthritis and joint issues and has had hip replacements, so I understand the importance of patience, gentle handling, mobility support and giving medication correctly. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I genuinely love spending time with them and making sure they are happy, comfortable and well cared for. I also know what it’s like to do everything you can for your dog and always go above and beyond for their health, happiness and wellbeing. At the moment, I’m only offering house sitting in the owner’s home, where your pet can stay comfortable in their familiar surroundings and routine but I would be open to discussing care in my own home if it felt like the right fit, as they would need to be friendly and comfortable around other dogs to settle in well with my four. I work a hybrid and flexible schedule, which allows me to offer reliable pet care throughout the week. On my work from home days, I’m able to work from your home if needed, so your pet can have company, supervision and their usual routine while you’re away. I’m also available for walks, drop ins, feeding visits and overnight stays depending on notice and availability. I’ll always be clear and communicative about timings to make sure your pet gets the care they need. I’m happy to follow feeding schedules, walking routines, medication instructions and any house rules you have. I’m respectful, tidy and reliable in other people’s homes, and I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you have peace of mind while you’re away.

“Ruby was very good with Oreo. She played with him, sent me pictures and update. I can back home and Oreo was very relaxed and his normal self. Very happy with Ruby and recommend her.”

“Misha was lovely with our two greyhounds, they can both be a little on the aloof side and they were made to feel comfortable straight away. The stay was also during a heatwave and the upmost care was carried out to make sure they were comfortable.”

About: I’m a dedicated animal lover with a passion for caring for cats and dogs! By day, I work from home! so it’s easy to pet sit🐕 🐱, but in my free time, I’m always seeking ways to be around animals! I even plan vacations to places known for their cat populations! I have a grey tabby named Potato, who I moved all the way from Canada, and she’s been a big part of my love for animals. Their unique personalities, independence, and the comfort they bring really resonate with me. Whether it’s playtime, quiet companionship, or just keeping them company, I love making fuzzy friends feel happy and at home!
“We were really impressed With Lilly. She took care of our beagle Tilly at our house and was extremely professional and helpful. She kept us updated to let us know all was fine. She is meticulously neat and tidy. Would highly recommend her.”

About: My name is Ollie, I am 28 years old with 11 years paid Dog Walking/ Sitting experience, though I have been looking after animals for people since childhood. Through my early teens I have attended Dog Training classes with a variety of dogs to be used as a demonstrator for the classes, attended fly ball and agility classes, and pre-covid started a course in dog grooming which sadly got cancelled. I am also looking into hopefully taking a canine first aid course in the future. Whilst I have mainly worked with dogs, I have also done cat sitting and small pet visits for a few years, and I have owned and cared for every pet imaginable from Dogs and Cats to Chipmunks and Hedgehogs. For your peace of mind, I am also DBS checked so feel free to ask to see the certificate! I am currently between jobs having just moved across the country so have a completely free schedule! I don't require a lot of notice just enough time to get a train :) I have worked and cared for dogs from a variety of backgrounds and their safety and comfort is my number one priority. As long as I am aware of any behavioral issues, illnesses, fears, and requirements for your dog I will be able to tailor walks and activities to suit them. I can provide references from times when I have stayed in peoples homes.
“Joanne came to my house to meet my dogs before we finalised our booking and we had a lovely chat. My bouncy pups settled quickly while she was here which was a good sign! Joanne was really accommodating when I requested a couple of changes to our booking. Although nervous leaving the dogs initially, I was updated daily on how they were doing. When we collected them it was heartwarming to see them run back to Joanne while excitedly greeting us. Thanks again”

“Amazing again. Reece has Jack semi-regularly overnight and we are now in a situation where Jack looks forward to him coming and doesn’t even glance back at us as we walk out of the door. I never thought I’d see the day! Thank you Reece!”

About: I have cared for and owned dogs since I was 12 (35 years and counting!). I absolutely love dogs and think you can never have enough of them in your life. I am equidistant to Sefton Park and Princes Park, so lots of opportunities for nice, safe walks

Lindsay watched my dog chauncey for the first time. You know when you get home and your dog has had a great day? Chauncey very much enjoyed his time! Lindsay is very attentive and she sends photos! I had no worries while I was out! I have booked Lindsay again already!

Carys was the perfect cat sitter. She took amazing care of both my cat and my home and gave me regular updates which was great to receive. Coming back she left my home clean (if not cleaner) and tidy and my cat seemed happier than ever. I would recommend Carys to anyone looking for a cat sitter. Have absolutely zero complaints!! 5+ stars!

Claire was fantastic and took such great care of our cat, Frank, as well as our home. She kept us updated regularly with lots of messages and photos, which made me feel really reassured that he was getting plenty of company and affection while we were away. It was the first time we'd left Frank for more than a couple of days, so this really helped me feel at ease as it was clear our cat was relaxed, happy and in capable hands. She left the house just as we found it and we would definitely book Claire again next time we need a cat sitter.

Ruby was great, our four animals loved her, particularly our ginger cat, Buddy, who was Ruby's shadow from the moment she arrived! We got plenty of update pics, the dogs were taken on some good long walks and the house was left lovely and tidy. Would definitely recommend Ruby 😊

Chloe recently looked after our dog Winston at short notice for a wedding. She was very professional accommodated things at the last minute . Winston is quite clearly settled and was well looked after . She provided timely updates and we enjoyed our trip thoroughly because we knew he was in such safe hands. I would thoroughly recommend.

Dilki and Chamy are super conscientious and clearly love animals! They took care of my parrot Taco while I was away for a few days. Because Taco is a more unusual animal with a big personality, I always worry but Dillon and Chamy did an amazing job! They took the time to get to know Taco and sent lots of updates. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them 100%.

Amy was amazing! She was great with the cats, they warmed to her immediately and seemed to have the best time while we were away. She sent lots of updates and we felt comfortable knowing they were in safe hands. Would book her again in a heartbeat :) Thank you! xx

This is the 3rd time Jess has looked after Mia for me. Cant recommend Jess enough shes absolutely brilliant with Mia, i think Mia is missing her now im home, she gets spoiled with attention, walks, treats, she is always so well looked after, Jess keeps me up to date with photos, videos, texts. Mia always looks so happy with her, always come home to a spotless house. Completly trust Jess with Mia and will definitely be booking again. Thanks Jess xxx

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Liverpool walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Liverpool choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
