Isla provided an amazing service! She came round to meet the gang before we confirmed the booking & was very thorough with the information she wanted prior to her looking after them to ensure she could give them the best care possible, the house was immaculate when we got back & the dogs we clearly well stimulated 🤣 we will definitely be using Isla again

We are really happy with the service received from Olivia and the time taken to get to know Charlie before our booking. Charlie settled really well and Olivia clearly understood Charlie's needs and quirks, regular updates were lovely to see Charlie relaxed, and he was happy following the sitting. Definitely recommend and book again without question. Thank you Olivia.

Would use again! Danielle was amazing at providing updates with pictures and/or videos daily. I have two fussy, anxious boys but both of them have been well looked after, including giving a daily tablet to one of my boys. House was very tidy and I can tell the cats were very well looked after. Thank you very much!

Honestly can't rate Michaela highly enough, from the first message right through to the house / dog sitting she was amazing! Allegra took to Michaela immediately and they say animals are the best judge of character. The house was spotless when we returned and Michaela went way above and beyond simply caring for allegra whilst we were on holiday. We got regular updated and pictures and came back to a pampered, settled and happy pup, truly can't thank her enough and will absolutely be booking again!

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter. Looking after a Rottweiler isn't for everyone, but it was clear from the start that they were completely comfortable and confident handling a larger, powerful breed. They clearly know how to read dogs, respect their boundaries, and make them feel comfortable and secure. My dog settled with them so well and I came home to a very happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for boy! Nothing was too much trouble for them, they were happy to accommodate whatever they could and were so respectful of my home and routine with Ronnie! It's such a relief finding someone who genuinely understands dogs rather than just watching them, they kept me updated throughout with amazing pictures and I had complete peace of mind while I was away and wouldn't hesitate to leave my Ronnie with them again. Highly recommend to anyone, especially owners of larger breeds! Will never go to anyone else!

I would say Rocco is alot of work and needs the attention and long walks and Millie handled it really well. She sent updates with pictures and videos every day which made me feel at ease. Rocco looked so content with Millie and I was impressed with one big walk she took him on which he would of loved. When we came home he was all happy and we could tell he had been well looked after. Thank you Millie for looking after our boy Rocco. We would highly recommend Millie for any dog lovers out there who need someone with high energy dog experience, pet care and long walks!

About: Hi! I’m Ellie, I’m 19 and currently saving up to travel around Australia. I’ve always loved animals and genuinely enjoy spending time with them, so pet sitting is something I’m really excited to do! I have my own gorgeous Border Collie called Myron. He’s super intelligent, full of energy, and needs lots of exercise, attention and mental stimulation every day. Because of him, I’m very used to caring for dogs that need more than just a quick walk and dinner, but would also love looking after pets who are low maintenance and need space! I love playing with pets, keeping them entertained, and making sure they’re happy. I also have an adopted cat who is naturally very nervous and anxious. When we first got him, he wouldn’t come anywhere near us, but over the years I’ve built up his trust by being patient and respecting his boundaries. One of his biggest milestones recently was finally choosing to sit on our laps (while still keeping a careful eye on everything going on!). Looking after him has taught me a lot about understanding anxious pets and letting them settle at their own pace. As part of my Animal Care course, I spent a year doing work experience at both an animal rescue centre and an equestrian riding centre. I learned how to carry out basic health checks, keep enclosures clean, feed and care for different animals, and make sure they were comfortable and well looked after.(this includes guinea pigs, bunnies, cats and kittens) I also gained experience looking after horses, including feeding, grooming and general stable duties. I also volunteered with a sea turtle conservation project in Kefalonia, which was an amazing experience. I helped relocate vulnerable nests when needed, carried out morning beach surveys, took part in beach cleans, and used red lights when guiding hatchlings to the sea to avoid disturbing them. It taught me a lot about caring for wildlife while respecting their natural behaviours. I’m a friendly, reliable, respectful and caring person, and I’d love to give your pets the same love, attention and care that I’d want for my own. Whether they’re energetic and playful, shy and nervous, or just love lots of cuddles, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy and well looked after while you’re away. PS - I am also consistent with cleaning and keeping places tidy. I can’t wait to meet you and your pets! I work part-time, so I have a flexible schedule and can easily work around my shifts to make sure your pets get the care and attention they need. I typically work about 3 days a week. At home, my mum is the primary carer for my own pets, so I’m usually free to look after other pets without any issues. The only exception is if she’s away, as I’d need to stay home with my own animals. However, I’d still be happy to help with shorter visits, such as dog walks or toilet breaks. If your dog is friendly and you’d be happy for them to have some company, I could even bring my dog, Myron, along on walks / to your house so they can enjoy some social time together! Whenever I’m looking after someone’s pet, I always take the time to get to know them first so I can understand their personality, routine, and what makes them happy. Every pet is different, so I like to make sure their care is tailored to their individual needs. I have experience caring for pets with different personalities. My cat, Charlie, is quite anxious, so I’ve learned how important it is to be patient, gentle, and give him the space he needs to feel comfortable. My dog, Myron, is very intelligent and needs lots of mental stimulation as well as exercise, so I’m used to keeping him busy with training, games, and fun walks. Whether I’m caring for pets in my own home or at an owner’s home, I’ll stick to their usual routine as much as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, medication if needed, and, of course, plenty of love and attention. My main goal is to make sure every pet feels safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away.

About: Caring for animals isn’t just something I do — it’s something that has been part of my life for over 12 years. I truly love building connections with the pets I care for and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, and reptiles, each with their own unique personalities and needs. From playful, high-energy pups to independent cats and reptiles requiring attentive habitat care, I take the time to understand what makes each animal feel secure and happy. I know how important routines are, and I do my best to keep everything consistent so your pet feels at ease. I offer house sitting and drop-in visits because I believe pets are most comfortable in their own environment. Whether it’s keeping up with daily walks, playtime, feedings, litter box cleaning, or carefully monitoring a reptile’s temperature and humidity, I handle every detail with care and responsibility. I also understand how much trust it takes to leave your pets and home in someone else’s hands. I treat every home with respect and every animal like they’re my own. You can expect thoughtful updates, photos, and open communication so you always feel connected and reassured. At the end of the day, my goal is simple: for you to come home to a happy, relaxed pet who felt loved the entire time you were away. 🐾 I’m available full-time because I work for myself, which gives me a very flexible schedule. This allows me to prioritize pet care and adjust my day around your pet’s specific needs. I’m available for: House Sitting – Weekdays & Weekends Drop-In Visits – Morning, Midday, Evening Last-Minute Bookings (when available) Holiday Care Because I create my own work schedule, I’m able to provide consistent attention, stick closely to your pet’s routine, and accommodate special timing requests whenever possible. If you have specific scheduling needs, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to work with you to make sure your pet receives the care and attention they deserve. 🐾 Caring for pets in their own home is something I truly value because it allows them to stay comfortable in a familiar, stress-free environment. When I’m house sitting or doing drop-in visits, I focus on keeping your pet’s routine as normal as possible — from feeding schedules and walks to playtime and quiet cuddle time. I pay close attention to their behavior, energy levels, and overall well-being to ensure they’re happy and healthy while you’re away. I also treat your home with the utmost respect, keeping everything clean and secure. My goal is for you to return to a relaxed pet who felt safe, loved, and well cared for the entire time

Isla has just completed a very successful 11 night sit for our two dogs and We could really not have chosen anyone more perfect ! She understands your pet and is very knowledgeable, has your pets best interests at heart and keeps them in the routine that they’re used to so that it’s as stress free as possible for them. We have one nervous rescue dog that took to Her so much just on the meet and greet that we were instantly reassured, and a spoilt’ Mummy’s Boy’ who, after being wary at first, as usual, was having cuddles within 10 minutes of Us leaving and had decided Isla was His surrogate Mum ! We had plenty of pictures and videos while We were on holiday to put our mind at ease when we saw just how happy they were. I 10000% recommend Isla as She is so understanding and compassionate and yes, We will DEFINITELY be booking Isla for next year just as soon as we book the holiday as there really is no one else that we’d be happy with and we we’re so lucky to find to find Her Thankyou once again from Walt,Drac,Ellen,Eve and Sol ❤️

FAQs for House Sitting - Wigan

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Wigan on Rover is £36.23 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,646 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wigan. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Wigan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wigan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
