We are really happy with the service received from Olivia and the time taken to get to know Charlie before our booking. Charlie settled really well and Olivia clearly understood Charlie's needs and quirks, regular updates were lovely to see Charlie relaxed, and he was happy following the sitting. Definitely recommend and book again without question. Thank you Olivia.

If I could put 10 stars I would. Isla is fab with dogs and has experience and intuition with them and knows how to bond with them. My nervous dog turned from hiding to cuddling so quickly without pressure from Isla. Her focus is on enrichment and she goes above and beyond to make the time your away be the best possible for your animals and caters for them individually xxxx Highly recommend Isla

About: I’m a qualified veterinary nurse with many years of hands-on experience caring for both cats and dogs. My professional background means I’m confident administering medications, monitoring health, and responding calmly to a wide range of needs. I understand that every pet has their own personality — from confident and playful to shy, anxious, or independent — and I always tailor my care to suit them. I’m experienced with reactive dogs and use calm, patient, positive handling to help them feel safe and understood while in my care. I also have experience with puppy training, helping reinforce good habits, basic commands, and routines, as well as providing gentle, attentive care for senior pets who may need extra patience, comfort, or medical support. I know how stressful it can be leaving your pets when you go away, so my goal is to give you complete peace of mind by treating your pets as if they were my own and keeping you updated every step of the way. Currently work 4 days a week. Weekends are available for pet sitting either in your home or in my home. I have Tuesdays available for dog walking and home visits. Additional availability during time off work. Your dog will be welcomed into a calm, safe, and caring home environment. I have a fully fenced garden where dogs can enjoy secure outdoor time, play, and supervised breaks throughout the day. Inside, I have an enclosed kitchen area that can comfortably fit a large crate if your dog is crate-trained or benefits from having their own quiet space. I share my home with two dog-friendly cats, so any dog staying with me must be comfortable around cats. I’m experienced at managing introductions and ensuring everyone feels safe and relaxed. I also live in an area with plenty of dog-walking routes, allowing for regular walks tailored to your dog’s energy level, age, and needs — from gentle strolls to more active outings. My goal is to provide a home-from-home experience where your dog feels settled, cared for, and happy while you’re away.

Would use again! Danielle was amazing at providing updates with pictures and/or videos daily. I have two fussy, anxious boys but both of them have been well looked after, including giving a daily tablet to one of my boys. House was very tidy and I can tell the cats were very well looked after. Thank you very much!

About: I’ve gained valuable experience caring for dogs through both owning my own and looking after the pets of friends and family. I raised my own dog from 12 weeks old, taking responsibility for his training, daily care, exercise, and overall wellbeing throughout his life. As he grew older, I also cared for him through his senior years, ensuring he remained comfortable, happy, and well looked after. More recently, I’ve been helping care for a family member’s 3-month-old puppy, supporting with daily routines, toilet training, and basic obedience. Despite his young age and curiosity, I’ve already taught him commands such as “paw” and to jump through a hoop using positive reinforcement, while helping him build confidence and good behaviour. I’m currently working part-time, which gives me the flexibility and time to provide dedicated care for your beloved pets. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and after recently losing my own dog, I know just how much love, attention, and companionship our furry friends deserve. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, or simply keeping your pet company while you’re away, I’ll care for them as if they were my own. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your pet is safe, happy, and receiving plenty of love and attention. My availability works on a two-week rota: * Week 1: Wednesday to Friday * Week 2: Saturday and Sunday I understand that every pet is unique, so I’m happy to follow your routine and cater to their individual needs, ensuring they feel comfortable, cared for, and loved while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my top priority. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or in yours, I’ll make sure they are in a clean, secure, and calm environment where they can feel relaxed and at ease. I will always follow your instructions regarding feeding, exercise, medication, routines, and any special requirements to ensure your pet receives the same level of care they’re used to. I’ll treat your home with the utmost respect, keeping it tidy and secure while you’re away. I understand how important trust is when leaving your pet in someone else’s care, so I’ll provide regular updates, photos, and messages, giving you complete peace of mind that your furry family member is safe, loved, and well looked after.

Sophie was booked for dog sitting for my two girls, one being only 8 months old and Sophie was so good with them and I felt they were fully cared for whilst we were away for the evening. We met up before hand and I immediately felt completely at ease knowing the girls would be in good hands. The girls are looking forward to seeing her again soon!

About: I have taken care of animals for as long as I can remember. I have lived with Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Cats and most recently my Sproker Spaniel. I love all animals and really enjoy making a connection with them. I am working full time, but work from home on Fridays and I will be free across the weekend. Perfect for weekend breaks and short trips! Additionally I can ad-hoc work from home so drop ins midweek are absolutely no issue at all I am not currently offering pets in my flat as I am renting. However in terms of home visits I have 5 years of crate training with my current dog. As well as this I have trained her to loose lead walking as well as worked hard to improve her recall if your pet requires off lead walking as well.

She put me at ease while we were away sending updates and photos and leaving the camera on when she was out the house so I could check in on him. Really recommend Lydia as a pet sitter she is so lovely and attentive. Would definitely use her services again

About: Hi! I’m Georgie and my wife is Lianna. We’re an active, dog-obsessed couple based in Didsbury who would love to give your dog an amazing time. I grew up with my own dog for 16 years, and together we've also looked after dogs through another pet sitting platform. We genuinely love getting to know each dog's personality so we can tailor our care to their individual needs and make them feel completely at home. I work partially from home and am usually out of the house for between 2–5 hours a day. We make sure your dog is never left alone for long and fit our routine around giving them plenty of attention, exercise, and toilet breaks. Our weeks are filled with daily runs, long walks, and adventures in the Peak District. We also love weekend trips to the Lake District and, if suitable, we'd be delighted to bring your dog along for scenic walks, fresh air, and a little adventure. We have a clean, tidy one-bedroom flat where your dog will be treated like part of the family. They'll enjoy morning and evening walks or runs, regular toilet breaks throughout the day, lots of playtime, and endless cuddles. We always take the time to learn your dog's routine and preferences so we can provide the care they're used to. At night, your dog would sleep in either their own bed or a crate on the floor in our bedroom, so they're close to us and feel safe and settled. If you're looking for a loving, reliable, and energetic home away from home for your dog, we'd love to hear from you!

Ellie was amazing with Beans, she kept in touch with regular updates and I came back to a very happy cat and a spotless house. She’s kind, polite, professional, reliable, experienced, knowledgable and clearly cares about what she does. I’ve used Ellie numerous times now and she’s never let me down

About: I’ve had dogs in my life for over 40 years. I’ve looked after my own dogs and my children’s dogs. I have no full time pets at home. I can provide a safe and secure home for your dog to suit your needs. I have a very large fenced and secure garden with access to the country side from my front door. I work from 5 am to 1 pm Monday to Saturday. However my work is very flexible and I can meet most needs in looking after a pet. I am able to dog walk either very early in the mornings or afternoons after 1 pm. Within the time that I am at work. Your pet will be in a very secure garden with ample shelter or shade. I am also happy to dog sit overnight at your home. I have a very secure large garden that is fenced. During the day your pet will be outside with plenty or shelter or shade. When I return home from work. ( generally after 1pm ) your pet will be exercised around the local walks in my area. Please note. Even though my garden is very secure. A determined dog could escape. Unless the dog is on a leash full time during the day. I can not g/tee that the dog would not escape. I suggest in all instances that you visit the property first before finalising your booking.

Isla looked after our boy Walter for the first time and we can’t praise her enough! She listened to all the info we gave her and kept him in the routine he’s used to which meant a stress free time for both Walter and us! We got regular updates with photos and it reassured us how settled her was. Isla has got extensive knowledge when it comes to canine behaviour and body language which we think is really important. Will definitely be booking Isla again to look after Walter!

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter. Looking after a Rottweiler isn't for everyone, but it was clear from the start that they were completely comfortable and confident handling a larger, powerful breed. They clearly know how to read dogs, respect their boundaries, and make them feel comfortable and secure. My dog settled with them so well and I came home to a very happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for boy! Nothing was too much trouble for them, they were happy to accommodate whatever they could and were so respectful of my home and routine with Ronnie! It's such a relief finding someone who genuinely understands dogs rather than just watching them, they kept me updated throughout with amazing pictures and I had complete peace of mind while I was away and wouldn't hesitate to leave my Ronnie with them again. Highly recommend to anyone, especially owners of larger breeds! Will never go to anyone else!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Wigan on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,640 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wigan. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Wigan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wigan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
