Duncan was fantastic with Poppy. She took to him straight away and he was very confident in interacting with her. He gave her eye drops when she needed, which was above and beyond. He followed all our care instructions perfectly. We came home to a spotless house and a happy little dog! Thank you Duncan - can't recommend enough.

About: I have been around Dogs all my life , I live on a working sheep and beef farm so we have Border Collies and Jack Russell’s . I also have experience with Terriers , Newfoundland and Maremma’s as my family have owned and rescued these dogs. I regularly look after our dogs as my parents are busy on the farm. I’m currently not working as just left college so I am available anytime of the week and I do not have any holidays booked . I offer pet sitting in the owners home day or night, I don’t offer in my own home because we are a working farm

Camilla looked after Meg, my West Highland Terrier and my home wonderfully. She was very caring and I could tell when I returned home how they had bonded together. It was the first time I had used a sitter in my home but I would have no reservations in employing Camilla again. A big “Thank you”, Camilla from Sue and Meg.

Louis is a very nice, well mannered lad. He looked after my dog and 3 cats. They all seemed happy when I arrived back home after a night away. He kept me updated of the cats whereabouts and Barney loved his company. My house was left just as tidy as I had left it, I will definitely be booking him again and would recommend him to anyone

About: My experience in animal care began in the same way as many animal lovers, through the variety of pet I have had throughout childhood, my aim was to convince my mum to turn our house into a miniature zoo in which I believe my endeavour was successful, I have had a diverse catalogue of animals ranging from rodents to reptiles with some aquatic animals in between. This sprouted my passion for animal care and lead me to Myerscough College where I achieved a Level 3 City and Guilds in animal management. I also have four years of experience working in a Doggy Daycare beginning in year 11 as a work experience placement and then continuing alongside college and eventually I became permanent staff. With this I gained my most important experience as I worked with a variety of breeds and learned to read canine behavior as well as of course getting to play and create fun enrichment activities for our furry friends. I am currently on maternity leave so I have an ample amount of free time to care for your canine pal, the only loop I have to work around is my business partner being a 2 month old girl who requires feeding. Due to my experience in a doggy daycare and other previous dog walking endeavours, I have worked with a range of dogs from small timid breeds to large boisterous breeds, this has given me knowledge in how to read and manage canine behaviour which means your pooch will be in a safe hands.

About: I’ve had police working dogs that were obedience and agility trained and also took part in multiple dog shows. I also have had experience breeding dogs as my dog had a litter of her own. I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed being around dogs and walking them so I take care and walk my friends dogs too. Just an all round dog lover! Perfect fit during a day and nights. Garden and home facilities available. Enjoying spending my time with the dogs at home and walking around nature. I can do both but prefer my home. It's absolutely safe at my home and Garden is big enough also safe for the dogs all day long

About: I’ve taken care of dogs/ponies from a young age.All my friends and family rely on me to care for their fury friends. I love animals so much and I always put their needs first. Having had ponies and dogs from being a baby I have been brought up caring for animals and ensuring their needs are met. I have a flexible working from home job currently so can be on hand to look after your dogs whenever needed. Pet care is part of my daily life and I have 2 loving babies of my own. I have a fenced yard, and 10 acres to keep your pups busy. I treat my own dogs like they are family and they are allowed on the furniture, however if your dog isn’t used to this and is crate trained and sleeps in a bed this is something I can also provide.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Blackburn with Darwen walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Blackburn with Darwen choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
