About: All-day supervision (work-from-home care) – constant presence, not drop-in only Kitten care – playtime, feeding routines, and safety monitoring Cat-proofed, clean home – preventing access to harmful items or unsafe areas Litter box maintenance – frequent cleaning to keep cats comfortable and healthy Behavior awareness – noticing stress, appetite changes, or unusual behavior Safe separation of spaces – keeping cats away from kitchens, bathrooms, and doors Enrichment & play – toys, interactive play, and mental stimulation Routine-focused care – feeding, play, and rest on a consistent schedule I specialize in caring for cats and kittens in a calm, clean, and safe home environment. I work from home full-time, which allows me to provide constant supervision, playtime, and companionship. I’m experienced in maintaining clean litter boxes, keeping cats away from unsafe areas, and ensuring they have proper food, fresh litter, and engaging toys. I pay close attention to behavior and comfort so each cat feels relaxed and secure. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work from home five days a week. This allows me to be present throughout the day to feed, supervise, play, and check on cats regularly rather than leaving them alone for long periods. I structure my day around the cat’s needs, including regular feeding times, litter box cleaning, interactive play sessions, and quiet rest time. Since I’m home most of the time, I can quickly notice any changes in behavior, appetite, or comfort and respond right away. I care for pets by creating a calm, clean, and safe environment while following each pet’s usual routine as closely as possible. I make sure cats have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and plenty of attention throughout the day. Because I work from home, I’m able to provide frequent check-ins, supervision, and interactive playtime, as well as quiet companionship for cats who prefer a calmer presence. I keep my home cat-proofed by separating pets from the kitchen, bathroom, and front door to prevent accidents or unsafe access. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and carefully follow all instructions for feeding, litter cleaning, play, and any special needs. I pay close attention to behavior and comfort, keeping owners updated so they feel confident their pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: I've cared for animals most of my life - since retiring I now have the most adorable cockapoo, Lily, she is very socialised and loves other dogs- Lily would be happy to share me with any canine guests! I know how important it is to find the right carer for your pooch because they're members of the family and you want only the best - trusted, loving and reliable - and that's what I can offer. I don't have pet care qualifications - but I possess all the practical and common sense skills required to care for your dog, as well as oodles of cuddles and plenty of walks! I have regularly looked after my friends dogs, a Staffordshire bull terrier, greyhound and Labrador so I’m used to handling different breeds of dogs and managing their needs. My secure garden backs on to woodland and open fields - offering perfect play opportunities - in a lovely part of Wigan Borough. Our dog-friendly home offers open access to dogs that are house trained. I always recommend meet and greets to ensure everybody is happy as well as trial visits/nights to assess how well your pooch will settle in. All dogs have their unique personality traits and some have issues with, for instance, separation anxiety, phobias, etc - so I'm happy to discuss strategies to help manage potential issues. I can administer medications - oral and injection - and will follow advice on medical conditions such as food allergies to the letter. I am retired and home-based and enjoy spending time with my girl, Lily - and I would love to invite other small/medium dogs with a similar happy nature into my home. As a full-time dog owner, I already have an existing routine taking Lily out a minimum of twice daily. We love going to the beach and she regularly joins us when we're out and about. We don’t leave her for long, and only then very rarely. I’m happy to work with owners to agree a suitable routine for their dog. Our home offers a safe and secure environment with a very relaxed and dog-friendly atmosphere. I can be trusted to deliver care in the owner's home, and will happily discuss all aspects in terms of access and security. I will only walk up to 2 dogs at a time and carry spare leashes, water bowls etc. I'm very vigilant around traffic and other dogs/groups of dogs whilst out and about.

Really really happy with our overall experience with James. Good communication, beautiful big home, as soon as I got there both myself & my American bully x staff, Lync, felt at ease. James is a lovely character, very trusting and friendly. Would recommend anyone to go with James for their own furry friends! 🐶🐱🐹🐰 Thanks again James for having Lync! He had the best time & I had a nice tired pup when we got home😂😇 Much appreciated, will definitely use again! Brilliant experience🤙🏽

About: Since a very young girl I begged my dad for a dog. After many years, he finally caved and we got our first family dog. Billy was our whole world for 10 years and was considered the third child of the family. I took him on hikes, swimming, and of course he cuddled with me every night. My love for dogs is something that can’t be contained, and sadly for my boyfriend we have to stop at every single dog that walks past. I have over 10 years of experience with a dog, including many other people’s dogs; walling them, taking care of them whilst they are on holiday, and treating them like my bestfriend (they all are). I’m excited to hang out with some new friends and take them on my daily walks and adventures. I’m currently self employed which allows me time most days of the week to walk your dogs & spend a fun day with them! I have a car to drive to take us on outings and adventures when it fits. I have a moderately big back garden for your dog to play in, all fenced and gated. I live right infront of the fields with lovely walks all around.

About: I’ve grown up in a family of dog lovers, caring for furry friends of varied breeds and sizes from a young age. My current little one, Millie, started house-training at 10 weeks old and is now a happy, well-adjusted 8 year old, who loves her daily walks and playtime. I also have plenty of experience with senior dogs, from my dearly missed 15 year old staffy to my current 10 year old chihuahua, Shyla. Caring for dogs has always been a second nature to me & is something I truly love and take pride in. I work fully-remote from home during the week therefore I am always available to tend to pets throughout the day. I am fully available all day for the majority of weekends. I have a medium sized, fenced back garden with enough space for pets to roam and play. I currently have 2 small sociable dogs of my own, I have no concerns with bringing another dog into the home as long as there is an opportunity for them to be introduced and get familiar with each other.

About: When I was 16 our family got two miniature Schnauzers and I've been a dog lover ever since! Now that I've moved out and now live with my fiancee (Raissa, pictured) we miss having the company of dogs and before we get one of our own would like to trial having them in our lives on a more short term basis. We both work from home, so can have someone at home at all hours of the day. We have no children in the house and a secure garden. We have recent experience of looking after dogs for weeks at a time and know lots of good walks near our home too! Ideally looking for smaller hypoallergenic dogs, but would be open to other breeds. We have had one great experience on Rover last year with Oscar but have had our diary closed so far this year as we are awaiting a foster dog, however we have recently reopened our diary for new bookings for a rolling six week period in the mean time. We both work full time for the same company with one office day required per week which we do on Weds and Thursday - so someone is always at home every week day. Generally we'd be able to take the dog out in the morning before work, at lunch and after work if required. We have a back garden which is fenced and leads onto a quiet avenue. Generally keep dogs on lead until I can build up trust that it will come back on command. Will be cautious around other dogs without avoiding them and allowing social time when we've built up confidence. Love cuddles and playing in the house but won't allow dogs on the bed or the sofa without covers.

Olivia has been great from the first contact. I have a blind dog that needs extra support and care and she arranged a free meet and greet to get to know her and to check if she’d feel comfortable there. My girl Ophelia ran through the front door wagging her tail so I knew that she felt it was a safe environment. Olivia is very professional in the service that she provides and its obvious that she cares so much about the dogs she looks after. Ophelia felt so relaxed at her first day staying with Olivia and was absolutely shattered after playing with toys and exploring all day :)

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - Wigan

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Wigan on Rover is £25.3 per day (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 2,492 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in Wigan. About 86% of Wigan sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day cover for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Wigan commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
