About: I have both had dogs since our childhood, and currently have two friendly cocker spaniels. All my dog experience has been from pups, I even acted as midwife for my next door neighbours bitch giving birth 3 years ago! My location has a large country park at the end of the street, and woodland behind me which I manage as a volunteer warden. I have a dog friendly rear garden and my cockers love drinking from the barrel water feature. I have very tolerant pets and they happily engage with other visiting dogs, and a previous neighbours cat. I have an engaging daily routine for them, so much so I'm convinced my dogs can tell the time, when their next activity is due. I am a stay at home foster-dad, and my wife works, sometimes from home. I volunteer in my local community woodlands, and other institutions throughout the day but I estimate our dogs are not at home for more than 3 hours alone. Apart from a clean and secure rear garden, my home is partitioned in such a way that a scared visitor could have seclusion if required. I do have a crate in the kitchen, and my dogs use it for privacy/ sleep ( door open). If your dog would be anxious at night, then I can keep my dogs upstairs with me or they can remain in the kitchen to keep their visitor company. Whichever works.

About: I've always had a genuine love for animals and understand that every pet has their own personality, routine and needs. I take the time to get to know each pet so they feel safe, comfortable and cared for while you're away. Whether it's a playful puppy, an independent cat, or a senior pet who needs a little extra patience and attention, I provide calm, compassionate care tailored to them. I'm happy to stick to feeding schedules, administer basic medications if needed, provide plenty of exercise and enrichment, and most importantly, give lots of affection and reassurance. I know how important it is to trust someone with a beloved family member, so I'll always treat your pets as if they were my own. I'll also keep you updated with regular messages and photos, so you can relax knowing they're happy and well looked after. I work from home, which means I'm available throughout the day to provide plenty of attention, companionship and care. Whether your pet enjoys regular walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply having someone nearby, they'll never be left feeling lonely. My flexible schedule allows me to accommodate most routines and give pets the time and attention they deserve. Your pet's safety, comfort and happiness are my top priorities. My home is clean, tidy and smoke-free indoors, with a secure fenced garden for supervised outdoor time and play. Larger dogs are welcome to enjoy the spacious downstairs living areas and garden, although the upstairs is kept off-limits for them. I'm lucky to live close to plenty of lovely walking routes, green spaces and adventure spots, perfect for keeping dogs active and engaged. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, gentle strolls or simply relaxing at home, I'll tailor their care to suit their needs. I also share my home with one friendly indoor cat (Koby the Bengal), so it's important that visiting pets are comfortable around cats. We are open to separating them for some shorter stays. There are no breed or size preferences, but for the safety and wellbeing of everyone, I can only accept pets that are non-aggressive and well behaved in the home environment. Most importantly, your pet will receive lots of affection, attention and companionship throughout their stay, day or night, cuddles are always included!
“Rolo had such a lovely stay, Pat was so welcoming to us and Rolo, she took Rolo for a nice walk and she was sleeping contentedly when we picked her up. Right from the outset has been so communicative and helpful. Can’t speak highly enough and hope Rolo will be back again soon!”

“Our puppy had a great day with Vikki and her dog Lacey. He enjoyed playing in her large, secure garden and Vikki also fed him and took him for a walk. We will definitely be booking with her again ?”

About: I’ve had dogs since I was a teen ager. I have house trained several along the way, and have experience with older dogs as well. I am retired after 52 years in financial services. My day is comprised of trips to the gym and the markets as I am the chef of the house. Until recently this included looking after Alice, our beloved Boston Terrier who passed away a few months ago at 15. I enjoy all aspects of dog care, and have had several dogs over the years including a Chow and a Shepard/Husky cross you I’m quite comfortable with any size dog. I live in a large house with a fenced back yard. I’m a short walk from several prime dog walking areas here in Bolton, and I also drive if a chosen location for your dog is required.
“Thanks again, good to have someone Travis loves looking after him after his trauma at that the weekend! He thoroughly enjoys his time with you, the pics speak for themselves 😀”

“Teddy loves his ‘Holiday Home’! His tail sets off as soon as we pull up! Michelle is wonderful and sends lovely pup - dates with pictures throughout the day! We”d highly recommend her. 💕🐾”

“Lovely people, looked after my Evie well and she had a doggie friend to play with all day too which made it easier knowing she was distracted whilst I was at work. Received some lovely pictures of her. Thank you for looking after her well.”

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats since I was a young child, I have had dogs all my life and started looking after other peoples pets at around 16, I have two of my own large rescue dogs that come with their own issues so I am well experienced with animals with nerves. I understand pets that are shy as I have looked after my aunties pets that struggle with anxiety and we have built a bond overtime. I have experience with slightly larger breeds such as male staffies and pit bulls as I have grown up with them since I was 7, I have also looked after puppies before (less than 1 years old, not less than a month old etc.) I am willing and capable to care of a young pup. I have looked after many cats and understand some are not as sociable, I am patient. I am no stranger to being nibbled by puppies and giving them extra play time / longer walks to tire them out, I also understand older dogs need a more relaxed approach. I have recently finished college and I have much more spare time, as such an animal enthusiast I figured this would be the perfect opportunity. I wake up early and complete daily chores around the house and feeding / walking my own pets. I also sell online so I will often be posting parcels, I am 18 with a full driving licence and my own vehicle so transport is no issue! I am available all throughout the day. I have been trusted multiple times with peoples house keys and being able to let myself in / lock up their homes to watch over their pets. Our garden is fenced off and pretty decent space wise, we also have toys at home that have never been touched as our dog is not interested, we have a large crate if necessary and other dog beds, we have a guest room that can be used for your pet. We always have treats and multiple water bowls available. The back garden is safe and we do not take the dogs on the front garden unless they are on a lead.
“Richard was an absolutely fantastic dog sitter, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. From the moment we met him, it was clear how genuine his love for dogs is, and that really showed in the way he cared for mine. He was incredibly attentive, making sure my dog was comfortable, well exercised, and happy at all times. I really appreciated the regular updates and photos, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. It was obvious that my dog felt relaxed and safe in his care. Richard went above and beyond to stick to my dog’s routine and needs, and his reliability and professionalism made the whole experience stress free. I would not hesitate to use him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter.”

About: I adopted my first dog at 14. He's now living the life with my mom abroad, but caring for him for so many years gave me invaluable experience and a deep connection with animals. I've also had the joy of dog sitting for friends and family, always ensuring their pets felt loved, safe, and happy. While I can’t have a pet in my current living space, being a pet sitter allows me to share my love for animals by providing top-quality care for your furry family members. I work full time as a people and wellbeing advisor so I am mainly available in the mornings or afternoons. I am always free on weekends. I work from home 4 days a week so I would be free for check in visits during the day. I am currently unable to dog sit at home due to request from my landlord. Hoping I can relocate soon so that I can look after pets at home too

About: I've had dogs my whole life big and small and have always walked and trained them. I do brain stimulating activitys like find the treat or puzzle feeders like kongs and lickmats. I live near a big park that I like to walk down and feed the ducks so depending on the dog going on walks is easily done. I have dog sat and looked after family and friends dogs since I was 14 ,some with medical problems that need daily treatment like tablets and skin cream. I have looked after a range of dogs from less active dogs and ones that need a good long walk. I would love to look after you fur baby's whether it's for an hour or a week🙂 I am currently not working so have all the time to spend with your dogs. I go on walks to get out and enjoy nature quite often. I like to go visit family aswell who only live a 20 minute walk down the road. I live in a flat so due to that I would only be able to sit 2 dogs at a time. But I have a bit of grass out the back and I also love right next to a massive country park. There are other dogs in the block but they are all friendly.

“Rupert had a great time and was well looked after. He had his walks, ate his meals and had plenty of play time. I was updated throughout the day with photos and videos. Rupert will definitely be coming back to stay. Thank you!☺️”

Dominika is wonderful, and Harley had the best day hanging out with her. Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
