“I have just been away for the weekend and left my dog Luna with Rhian. From the first message Rhian was excellent at communicating and as it was the first time leaving my dog with her, she arranged a meet and greet. All went well and left me feeling comfortable leaving my dog with her. I received updates throughout the weekend with lots of pictures. It is clear that Rhian loves dogs and enjoys looking after them. I would highly recommend Rhian and will book again in the future. Thank you for looking after Luna as if she was your own x”

“Jodi was amazing. We met before fudge stayed over so she could introduce us to herself, Mabel her gorgeous fur baby and her dad. On the day fudge was staying over, she ran to the door all happy to be having a play date with Mabel. Jodi kept me updated all the time via texts. I would 100% recommend Jodi and Fudge was very happy there. Will definitely be booking back in for when we need to. Thank you Jodi 🐶😊”

“This was our second time using Kerry and Nick, and we highly recommend them. They looked after Marlow and Bonnie for three nights and kept us updated throughout, treating them as if they were their own. Bonnie felt at home straight away, and although Marlow had never stayed with anyone other than us before, he settled in quickly and seemed completely comfortable. Thanks again 😊”

“Sue and Ian were amazing with us and Freddie, we were a little on edge as this was the first time leaving Freddie for an overnight stay as he can be a little anxious about new places. We were given regular updates with pictures and Freddie was settled in very quickly and he had a great time! Booked him in for next year for a week and feel completely comfortable for him to stay here again for a longer period :)”

Filip was looking after my hyperactive spaniel last weekend and I highly recommend his service. We back from our weekend away to very happy and well looked dog. Filip kept us updated with pictures and videos from Winston's stay, fantastic communication from first request until our return and we were 100% sure that our dog has the best care which we could organise for him. We would definitely recommend Filip and already asked if he would be happy to look after our dog next time. Thank you :)

Champ stayed with Ange for a few days while I was away, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I received daily updates and lovely photos showing what they'd been up to, along with messages letting me know how he was each day, which gave me real peace of mind. It was clear that Champ was well cared for, happy, and having a great time. He absolutely loved his stay! I would highly recommend Ange to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with Ange again.

Katie looked after my dog, Timmy, during the recent heatwave, and I couldn't be happier with the care she provided. She made sure he stayed cool, comfortable, and well looked after despite the hot weather. Timmy was clearly very happy with her and settled in so well. It gave me real peace of mind knowing he was in such caring and capable hands. I would highly recommend Katie to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful dog sitter.

We left our two year old spaniel Buster with Rachel having never boarded before. The whole family made Buster feel welcome and a part of the family straight away. Rachel kept us updated with regular message and pictures and helped keep our minds at ease. Highly recommended!

Snoop has had another wonderful stay with Chloe. Chloe truly loves animals and goes above and beyond to look after Snoop and make him feel loved and at home when he stays with her. It's lovely to get pics and videos of their adventures and puts my mind at ease that he's being so well cared for. Thanks again Chloe, Snoop can't wait for his next sleepover! X

I can’t recommend Mandy highly enough - she was fabulous. Severus was looked after so well and we got regular updates while we were away with photos of their outings and how comfortable he was. He slept in Mandy’s dog’s bed rather than his own, even though the beds were identical 😂. He usually goes bananas if we leave him for any length of time but he was quite calm when we picked him up after 6 days - I don’t think he was keen on leaving 🤣🤣. 10/10 and 5 stars.
Excellent service and a "home from home" - Liam made Reggie feel very at home which was great as we knew he would be in safe hands, and didn't need to worry about leaving him with someone different for the first time. Liam is also great with dogs. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use again.

Ian and his family looked after our dog Ziggy while we were away in Poland and she honestly couldn’t have been happier. She was clearly loved just as much as at home, had loads of walks, and we got plenty of photo updates which was lovely. Not sure she even missed us! Would definitely recommend.

Craig was absolutely fantastic with our dog, he had such a good time with him. Craig kept in touch with us so well and we could see that our dog was happy & cared for. Craig treated him like one of his own. Highly recommended and we will definitely use again ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
