Opie had a great stay! From the start, everything felt really professional—they provided a form to fill out and arranged a meet and greet beforehand, which gave me a lot of confidence. During his day and overnight stay, I was kept regularly updated on how Opie was doing and what he was getting up to, which I really appreciated. It made me feel relaxed knowing he was in good hands. Overall, a very positive experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommend!

Jack was fantastic from start to finish. He was communicative and flexible when it came to our plans changing at fairly short notice. He gave us some lovely updates throughout our Lottie’s stay and we could tell that she was very happy and comfortable, putting our mind at ease. We would very happily book with Jack again

TJ had a wonderful time with Alison and her hubby over the weekend. We visited her home a couple of weeks beforehand so that he could get to know them and become familiar with the house and garden. They clearly love dogs and he took to them straight away. He had lots of walks, treats and cuddles. I can't recommend Alison highly enough and will definitely board TJ with her again. When I am on holiday, I know that TJ is enjoying a holiday too. Thank you for giving me peace of mind and a special home from home for TJ.

Monty stayed with Sonia and Mick for a week and he’s had a brilliant time. Monty suffers with separation anxiety and always needs ‘A PERSON’ and I’m so pleased to say he found that here. Their communication was brilliant they kept us up-to-date with pictures and text whilst we were on holiday which put our minds at rest. We felt he was completely in safe hands and very happy and I would not hesitate to use Sonia and Mick again thank you so much for looking after our third child! X

Trisha, Shane & Juliet - thank you so much for looking after Socks this week after i needed to travel away for work. Socks had a fantastic time staying with you & had lots of play with Juliet, snuggles and walks with you both. You did a fantastic job of keeping me up to date on how Socks was & what she had been up doing. Have no hesitation in recommending you to others to look after their furry friends. Socks is already looking forward to visiting you all again in August. Thank you again.

Saoirse was fantastic at looking after Milo for us. We received regular updates and photos, and he seemed like he had the best time staying with her. She took such good care of him and we can tell he was shown so much love and attention. I think he was a little sad his own holiday was over when we picked him up 🥲 Milo became very fond of Saoirse and we will be booking again for our next trip very soon and all future trips. 100% recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We cannot thank GuGu enough for the care and love she gave our little dog Millie during her 2 week stay. we were really nervous leaving her as we have always had family looking after her prior to this but i can honestly say we are so happy with her care. Millie was treated as one of the family and made friends with Gugu's dog Hughie, who is absolutely lovely and very gentle. Millie settled really quickly into their lovely home. Gugu sent us daily pictures and updates on Millie while we were away and it was obvious that Millie was very happy, she had her daily walks, lots of little treats and Gugu made sure she was eating well, Millie is fussy eating and does go off her food sometimes but Gugu always gave her something that she would eat even some of their own meat etc in her dinner to tempt her. they have a lovely, very dog friendly home and garden, perfect for any dog and Millie did make herself at home. When we went to collect her she was relaxing on their sofa, this is a perfect home from home for any dogs, even our very fussy little Millie. Thank you so much Gugu, Hughie and co., we cannot thank you enough. highly recommend and will definitely be our first choice from now on.

We couldn't be happier with the care Luke and his family provided for Bailey and Benji! The boys absolutely loved their time with them — it was clear from the moment we dropped them off that they were in wonderful hands. We received regular updates throughout their stay, which gave us such peace of mind. The photos and videos of their walks were a highlight — it was lovely to see them so happy and well looked after. Luke and his family are just the loveliest people, and it really shows in the way they care for the dogs. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a warm, attentive, and reliable family to look after their fur babies. We'll definitely be booking again!

Jay was absolutely wonderful. This was the first time our 7 month old Labradoodle had been left. Jay let us come and meet her a week before the stay and I instantly felt at ease with her. Jay sent us photos and videos of Minnie during the stay and I know she was so well cared for. I would highly recommend Jay, I can’t thank her enough and I hope she will be our regular sitter.

About: I have been around dogs for most of my life. Currently the proud doggie Mum to Luna the Cockapoo who is our world ! We are a family of 5, my husband is an optician, studying to become an optometrist. I work part time a couple of evenings a week. We have three older children (17, 14 and 13) who are all very fond of dogs and love to make a fuss of any visiting dogs! We have a calm house, suitable for dogs who are used to being allowed on the furniture and not being left alone. My own dog is never left alone due to separation anxiety so there is always an adult at home with her and it's almost always me ! I have business insurance to care for dogs, dog first aid and boarding certificates, an up to date DBS which can be seen and we have a very dog friendly home with a fully secure back garden and no hazards. We contemplated getting a second dog as a friend for ours as she loves company but I've gone down this route instead. We are based in Thingwall, can offer flexible days and times and will provide updates when required. Any dog who comes to stay with us will receive as much attention as they like, we can follow their usual routines if that's sleeping on a bed with a human or having belly rubs all evening. The house can be calm and serene, or if the dog is more used to long walks and adventures then we can do that - I want your dog to feel at home so lots of details will be taken to ensure your dog has the best time ! There is always someone at home - usually me. If I have to nip out to pick someone up I will take any dogs with me. Most days involve a trip to the park, beach or woods, a laze on the sofa with some TV and cuddles, another walk and more cuddles ! Fully secure fenced garden, non slip floors which are cleaned regularly, a very clean and tidy home with no clutter or choking hazards. Safety checks completed - working smoke detectors, fire extinguisher, dog first aid kit. The use of doggy seatbelts and car seats when travelling. My own vet is available in an emergency but all paperwork completed beforehand will go over anything like this.

I've never used a dog sitter before, so this was all new to me and I must admit, I was apprehensive. However, Susan and her partner Julian could not have made me feel more comfortable and at ease! We arranged a quick meeting before hand so my Italian greyhound (and me) could meet Susan - she was so friendly and professional that you cannot help but feel totally confident leaving your pet with her. Whilst I was away, Susan gave me regular updates to let me know how Bree was and reassure me that everything was fine. When I collected Bree, I could tell that she had been so well looked after and loved - I'm quite sure she was a little put-out that I took her home, I think she would have been more than happy to stay! Bree is an Italian Greyhound and is a demanding breed of dog, yet I could see that Susan and Julian had given her the love and attention she needs. I cannot recommend Susan enough. If anyone else is nervous or unsure of leaving their beloved pet with a DogBuddy - use Susan - she is fantastic and will ensure you and your dog are well and truly looked after and at ease. Thank you Susan and Julian! Alex and Bree xx

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have my own whippet puppy, so I know the ins and outs of daily care, training, and keeping pups happy. I’ve also helped neighbors and friends with pet sitting, which has given me plenty of hands-on experience. I’m confident with everything from walks and playtime to feeding and keeping dogs comfortable. I work remotely, which means I’m at home most of the time and can easily fit in walks, play, and cuddles throughout the day. My routine is flexible, so I can adapt to your pet’s needs. I always make sure pets feel safe and settled with plenty of love and attention. I’ll follow your routines closely so your dog feels right at home.

Arne had a wonderful 12-night stay with Emma, Sean, and family from 17–29 August. Before his holiday, he had a little pre-visit to meet their lovely dog, Bruce, and it was clear from the start they’d be great pals. Throughout his stay, Arne and Bruce played, snuggled, and enjoyed each other’s company. We were kept updated regularly with photos and stories of Arne’s adventures, including a trip to Scotland, which was so reassuring. It was clear he was treated as part of the family. We’re so grateful to Emma, Sean, and family for welcoming Arne into their home and caring for him so well. I know Arne would be absolutely delighted to stay again. Thank you so much!

FAQs for Boarding - Wirral

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Wirral on Rover is £36.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,129 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Wirral. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
