“Michael and Val were exceptional hosts for our Jessie, she was treated very well and we had regular updates of all of the walks they went on. Would very much recommend. Thanks again.”

“Gabriella and her partner were amazing with twix. They allowed me to meet up with themselves to see twix before the book. They have a lovely home with 2 great kids and sent me regular updates and photos. I will be booking them again if they’re available”

“Ciara was so lovely and friendly. Loved the updates from Ciara and felt so at easy knowing that Luna was being well looked after. Will 100% be sending luna back if she will have her ☺️”

“I can’t recommend Oliver and his partner highly enough! They took such wonderful care of my dog Archie while I was away. I received tons of adorable photo updates, which gave me so much peace of mind and let me see just how much fun Archie was having. Archie and their dog Milo became fast friends, seeing them play together was the absolute highlight of my day. It was clear from the pictures and videos that Archie was not only well cared for, but genuinely having the time of his life. From long walks to cuddle sessions, every detail was thoughtful and loving.”

“Gabby and her housemates are superstar dog minders: I cannot overstate how happy I - and of course Cilla - were with this arrangement. As a protective dog-parent, having her stay with three vet students who so clearly adored her almost as much as I do, who lived very close to the university and the no-pets hotel I was staying in whilst working there, who sent lots of photos of her being so well looked after, who would have brought her to visit if my schedule allowed, and above l who were so friendly and communicative was PERFECT. Thanks Gabby, housemates, and indeed Rover app. A great arrangement all round.”

“Sarita was amazing with out puppy. It was the first time leaving her but she had the best time. We had daily updates of what she was up to and felt relaxed that she was in safe hands.”

“Andy and his family have been super stars at welcoming Mouche for a weekend. He sent us many pictures attesting run at the park and walks. He is a very serious and reliable dogsitter, we won't hesitate to leave our little dog again with them. Plus she had such a great time, that was lovely to see. Many thanks again!”

“Thank you so much for looking after Oreo. I really appreciated all the photos and video you sent throughout. She looked so happy to be staying with you and I felt less guilty for leaving her behind knowing she was having a great time. You were so accommodating and easy to communicate with. I can’t wait to book Oreos next stay with you. Thanks again”

“Absolutely outstanding boarding experience for My Shih-Poo! Marianna and the girls were all incredible and I’m so lucky to have found them. Highly recommended and delighted with the care and love they gave my dog. 10/10 - thank you so much”

About: I have been working as a Veterinary Nurse now for over 10 years so I have plenty of experience working with dogs and cats! I currently work 3 days a week and find I miss their company on my days off! I started dog sitting over 3 years ago so I have some regular doggie guests visiting my home. I can provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment for them and because I live in a rural village there are lots of lovely, varied walks nearby and the beach is a short drive away. I currently have regular work 3 days a week and an occasional day during the weekend. I am available most weekends and Monday/Tuesdays to look after your pet. I will follow their normal daily routine, I will provide them with regular exercise and entertainment. They can explore and enjoy the freedom of our fenced garden. I can also help out with administering medication and flea treatment if required.
“Our cocker spaniel absolutely loved his stay with Rachel. From the very start, it was clear how professional, kind, and genuinely interested she was in getting to know Maxi. She arranged a thoughtful meet and greet, which instantly put us at ease and showed how much she cares. Throughout his stay, Rachel kept us updated with excellent communication and sent plenty of pictures and videos showing Maxi having a fantastic time—which gave us real peace of mind. It was obvious she treated him like one of the family. Maxi came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. We’ll definitely be using Rachel again!”

“My dog Gigi went to Hannah for 12 days and she had the best time. They went on hikes and lots of walks and played lots of games. She was really well looked after and we got lots of updates when we were away. Gigi did not want to come home and had an amazing holiday herself with Hannah. I will definitely book again!”

About: We have an 8 month old working cocker spaniel, Guinness, who loves making new friends and having extra company around the house. We only offer dog care on the days we aren’t working, so we can give your dog all the attention they need and stick to their usual routine. I have recently completed a CPD Accredited first aid course for dogs. We have lots of experience with looking after dogs of all ages, mainly spaniels and labradors, but we will care for any breed as long as they are happy with Guinness being around. We only show ourselves as being available on the days we aren’t working, so we are around all day. Our usual routine is two long walks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with time for naps and play in between. We keep Guinness stimulated with daily scent games, and walks in the countryside or the beach where he can be off lead and free to run and sniff. He ends the day with cuddles on the sofa before bed. We live in a semi rural location, and we have a large garden secured by fences and a set of double gates so your dog can run around safely

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
