“Alexandra was very responsive and gave lots of pupdates! Rupert seemed comfortable right away and even went to a gala with the family. I would happily have Rupert stay with Alexandra and her family again.”

“Matt and Zoe were wonderful with Jolene! They walked her miles, showered her with treats, and really made a giant fuss of her. They were friendly and proactive in communication with us, and sent us loads of photos of our sweet girl.”

About: Since I can remember, I have been the go-to dog sitter for my family's wide range of dogs. I will provide a safe and nurturing environment for your dog so that you can enjoy your time away stress-free. I'm always willing to make any adaptations according to the nature of your dog, so feel free to ask. I am in the fortunate position to be able to adapt my work schedule and also to work from home when needed so I can ensure that your dog gets the best care. While I live in a flat, we have a small fenced area for off-lead play (if you would like that for your dog) and some nice green areas locally for leaded walks. I have a sofa which dogs are welcome to use if (and only if) you say it's allowed.
About: We had a dog as children I later owned two dogs, Daisy and Bongo (in photo gallery). In Italy, where I managed a study centre, I looked after the owners dog during their winter absence. In Yorkshire I worked in the office and house of a stud farm and looked after Bonzo the office dog. Recently, for 4 years, I walked, swam and went on adventures with a lovely bearded collie, Nelson, until he died, which was heart breaking. John, his owner, has provided a reference. Last year I joined a house sitting site and had a great year. I first looked after Rhubarb, in Yorkshire. a sun worshipper who knew when she wanted to go for a walk, and when she didn't. Then it was Reggie, a one year old terrier who kept me on my toes and was an absolute character. Then it was Knaresborough with Mollie and Maisie, the cutest, sweetest most loving pair. Lula was an anxious little Tibetan terrier who liked sleeping, a lot, and going for quiet walks on Ilkley Moor and in the woods. She even decided the river was quite nice to chill in. They all feature in the rogues gallery. Two of the owners have given references. Having lived all over the world I returned to the UK to retire. I am available from mid March until the end of October/mid November - I don't do English winters. I am totally free of commitments and can dog sit in someone's home for one to three weeks but am flexible on dates. I prefer countryside sits in new places, Yorkshire, Lakes, Lancashire coast. I could have your dog stay with me, if I am not booked on an away stay. Only older smaller dogs to stay with me please. I live opposite the beach so plenty of space to run around and enjoy the outdoors. I love the countryside, walking, swimming, reading, creative writing and painting - so am equally as happy sitting at home quietly if your dog is more of a home body! Last year was great. I had the company of some fabulous dogs. We visited National Trust properties. Walked favourite places. Explored woods. Swam in rivers. Went on car trips. Hung around in the garden at home. Had grooming sessions and belly rubs, well that's the dogs, not me. And cuddled on the couch. I met some adorable dogs and lovely owners and visited some fantastic places. I'm hoping for more of the same this year. I absolutely love dogs and for some reason dogs always adore me, even the anxious little Lula took to me straight away. All dogs are different and I'm happy to follow feeding and walking regimes. I'm good at ball throwing, belly rubbing, grooming, cuddling up and watching TV in the evenings.

About: I grew up with a dog for 15 and a half years, which had a profound impact on me. I decided to pursue dog training after adopting a Boxer, a decision I've never regretted. I've learned a great deal about myself, including my insecurities, strengths, and how dogs and horses perceive me. It's been an invaluable experience that I've refined more and more throughout my life. I can care for dogs of any size and age, though they should be at least one year old. If needed, I can train young dogs and also care for older ones. I can also administer oral medications and give your Sweetie a soft & calming massage. In 2018 and 2021, I adopted two rescued Greyhounds whose calm and balanced nature has helped many other dogs. Even though they sometimes get excited at dog meetups, they always manage to build a stable relationship. This invaluable talent has brought us many friends on our daily walks. My two sweeties have become important members of various dog groups / packs and are, of course, always welcome among people. I am also available to help with nearly any behavioural issues you may encounter with your dog. How to read a dog's body language? How do I train my dog not to pull on the leash all the time? Why does my dog bark even when there's (obviously) no reason to? Would you like to change this unwanted behaviour in your beloved pet? Talk to me. I work from my home office in the mornings and late evenings. At midday, I take my two Greyhounds for their second walk, and they always enjoy sharing this time with new friends. They are both extremely friendly and outgoing, even with small dogs. Then it's garden time, perhaps some training, or playtime with friends like a Giant Schnauzer and a Labrador at my home. So there's always something going on, and after all that romping around, a little nap is more than welcome. I live in a typical residential area in Morecambe, yet still close to Lancaster. The area in and around Heysham and Morecambe offers plenty of opportunities for dog walks - whether out in the open countryside, across fields, or through small wooded areas. Beach walks are by far the dogs' favourite, and we regularly meet up with friends. At home and in my backyard I offer lounging areas, cooling mats in the summer, and a separate feeding area - indoors or outdoors, depending on the season and weather conditions.
“Hansen had a lovely time boarding with Caragh. He was included as part of the family. It was so reassuring to receive lots of videos and photos of him enjoying himself and looking so settled. Caragh is experienced and confident - most professional and obviously loves Hansen.”

I am so so pleased with how well he has been looked after, i received constant updates and pictures of our pooch and i knew he was in safe hands. The whole process from start to finish was amazing and went so smoothly. Chelsea and Andy are fantastic dog sitters and if your pup likes other dogs then this is a little holiday for them aswell. 10/10 review, will be using chelsea and Andy again every single time we go away. Charles was absolutely fantastic and I would happily leave my dog with him again. He was great at communicating and flexible with drop off and pick up. I got plenty of updates on my dog which was great, and it looks like she had a great time being walked in the green areas around where Charles lives. Would highly recommend!

It was our first time leaving Willow over night at a dog sitters so I was quite anxious. Will and Tor put our worries to rest in no time. Willow was so excited to see them. She had a lovely time and we got regular updates with photos. She'll definitely be back. Thanks so much guys!

Little Louis is our world so knowing he’s in loving and caring hands is a great feeling when we are travelling. Our little boy always comes back to us calm and relaxed. I highly recommend Phillip as he’s very professional and sends lots of photos of Louis on his lap and sleeping.

First time Teddy had stayed away from home where I didn’t necessarily know them. Nikky picked him up from mine which helped me out massively as I don’t drive. She sent me updates throughout his stay including photos. This made me feel a lot better about being away. She updated me when she dropped him off also. I’ve already asked Nikky to look after Teddy again!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
