“Rosie LOVES Reece, that's all I need to say! Second stay and she recognised the house as soon as we approached, desperate to get inside for the all important tum tickles! So glad we found you;)”

“Matt and Zoe had a wonderful care of our little dog. We were updated daily about his activities and I believe he became an even better dog with their care and stimuli. I strongly recommend them if you need someone to look after your dog. You won't be disappointed.”

“This is the first time we have left Bobby and we were slightly apprehensive. We needn’t have worried! Nicola made us feel welcome from the get go. We had a meet and greet previous to Bobbys stay and Nicola was warm and helpful in every way. She even said Bobby could sleep with her like he does at home! When we left Bobby was tearing round the beautiful enclosed garden with another new doggy friend that was there. During the stay Nicola kept us up to date with messages and photos. When we went to pick Bobby up he was so happy to see us but really I think he would have liked to stay a bit longer!! We will most definitely be using Nicola again with no apprehension this time and will go away knowing Bobby is in the best of care! Thank you so much! Xxx”

“It was our first time leaving Otis for more than one night but I felt confident and reassured that Jayne and James were giving him lots of love, care and attention. We received lot of photo and video updates and Otis was so relaxed and happy when I picked him up that I know he had a wonderful time.”

“Daisy 2nd day care with Liv and she had so much fun playing with her doggies going on a little adventure walk and overall just having doggy fun. Lots of updates which is always lovely helps out my mind at rest as I hate leaving her but I know she is in safe and loving hands. Thanks Liv xx”

“Pete is the perfect choice for boarding, I couldn’t be happier with his service. Genuinely nice guy and brilliant with dogs. Constant updates keeping my mind at ease while I was away for the weekend and pictures of a very happy puppy daily. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!”

“Angus loved his time with Barbara, he gots lots of exciting walks and settled in well with her. She is very friendly ,we got updates and photos of what they had been up ,hes going back for another little break with her soon”

“What can I say, our dogs absolutely loved being at Sarah's. Sarah was very communicative and sent pictures and updates throughout their stay. I would absolutely send my dogs to Sarah again, and highly recommend her for looking after dogs. Thank you Sarah!”

“Marjorie and her husband were amazing and accommodating from the beginning. We were let down last minute to look after our boy and she took him on. With updates and pictures every day and spoiling Winston and including him in every day life. A great bond was formed between them. Since we have been home, we have had one sulking boy for the first day or two back as he thoroughly enjoyed his time there that much. A nice big house, back field and near by woodland that he enjoyed daily to tire him out. Two lovely people with an evident love of animals and dogs. Rest assured, your dog will be looked after and loved as if one of their pets. We could not recommend highly enough and will always look to have Winston stay there when we are away in future. Thank you both so much”

“We left Angus our 6 month old puppy for the first time with Chelsea, we were worried about leaving him with only being a puppy but we were reasured with photos and meeting previous to stay, it was a home from home for him he was chilled out and well looked after, will definitely book again”

“Sue looked after Rosie for three nights, she made her feel like she was part of the family and sent us regular updates. I can see how happy she was to stay with Sue and will definitely be using her again x”

“Lesley and Howard were great hosts. They were very understanding about Rico’s reactivity to other dogs, taking care to walk him in quieter areas. I was reassured that they are both experienced and confident dog owners and let Rico have the full run of their house and garden. Thank you would definitely book again.”

“Would put more stars if we could ❤️ Alex and Chris looked after our pride and joy, 11 month old border collie just like we knew they would. Jota has had a great time, lots of pictures of him enjoying himself. We were immediately put at ease by a lovely couple and we did not worry once about if he would be well looked after because we knew he would. Lots of questions asked so they knew him and the family and they treated him like their own. Would highly recommend and Jota will be a frequent visitor in the future. Thank you 😊 for caring so much about him x”

“I am always a little concerned leaving Lola with anyone. As she didn't have a good start in life. I had a very good feeling on our first meeting with Ian and Tracy. I immediately felt at ease as they clearly experienced and comfortable with dogs. They have two dogs of their own and Lola was happy to be with them. I always feel a little nervous and guilty when we go away. So to have someone like Ian and Tracy who reassures you, that she will be well looked after, gives you peace of mind. Excellent communication received, with regular updates and photos, this all helped us. Lola had lots of walks and play time, she was very happy and relaxed when we picked her up. ` I will definitely be using Ian and Tracy again. I highly recommend them for dog boarding. Thank you again.”

“Bluey and haggis had a lovely time with Janice. Highly recommend. Received regular updates and photos of Bluey and haggis, made me feel better about leaving them in their friendly and loving home. Thank you very much x”

Reece and Lucy looked after Lady for 2 weeks and she had a wonderful time. We got regular updates and photos where she looked very settled and a part of the family. This is the first time we have left Lady for more than a couple of days and they made it much easier to leave her knowing she was safe in their hands. She went on fun walks and trips and got lots of cuddles. They made it a home away from home for Lady.

Matt and Zoe had a wonderful care of our little dog. We were updated daily about his activities and I believe he became an even better dog with their care and stimuli. I strongly recommend them if you need someone to look after your dog. You won't be disappointed.

It was our first time leaving Willow over night at a dog sitters so I was quite anxious. Will and Tor put our worries to rest in no time. Willow was so excited to see them. She had a lovely time and we got regular updates with photos. She'll definitely be back. Thanks so much guys!

Little Louis is our world so knowing he’s in loving and caring hands is a great feeling when we are travelling. Our little boy always comes back to us calm and relaxed. I highly recommend Phillip as he’s very professional and sends lots of photos of Louis on his lap and sleeping.

First time Teddy had stayed away from home where I didn’t necessarily know them. Nikky picked him up from mine which helped me out massively as I don’t drive. She sent me updates throughout his stay including photos. This made me feel a lot better about being away. She updated me when she dropped him off also. I’ve already asked Nikky to look after Teddy again!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
