“Chloe was an absolute star, responded very quickly to our queries and kept us well informed and was clearly very good with Ziggy. I highly recommend Chloe, a delightful person who is super friendly and has a big heart for animals.”

“Absolute star. My Cat can be a bit standoffish but from the regular upgrades I received, it sounded like they got on well. Id definitely book again with Libby, and recommend her to others.”

“10/10 would recommend Sarah. Sarah was very reliable and kept us up to date every day. We enjoyed receiving the daily photos and felt at ease knowing our cat was very well looked after.”

About: I can offer care for all animals at your house. I have had 3 dogs in the past at home to look after alongside a cat. The age and size of dog doesn't bother me as long as if I am to walk them they won't pull me over as I am small. I am 26 and love animals, but working at the station means owning one is difficult. I can groom, walk, play and cuddle. I have a car so can take the dogs to parks or other places further out the way for walks as well as being able to provide my own transport. I can give regular updates on the animals during the day if wished. I work a shift pattern so can help with different days, different times to suit as needed. I walk plenty and own a house with a garden so happy to have your dog for as long as needed across the day I have a 6ft walled garden and plenty of knowledge of where to walk dogs in the local area to suit whatever needs are required
“Matthew was fantastic with drop ins for my cats! He kept me so updated and it really alleviated my travelling stress. I came home to 2 happy cats and had a relaxing time away knowing they were safe. He even went above and beyond cleaning up after them.”

About: I have over seven years of hands-on pet care experience, including working in a busy doggy daycare and managing both a cattery and daycare facility. Throughout my career, I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and personalities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and happiness at all times. I’m deeply passionate about animal wellbeing, which extends into my personal life as well—I share my own beloved golden girl with my husband, and caring for her has further strengthened my understanding of the love, patience, and responsibility pets deserve. I currently work at a doggy daycare three days a week, from Tuesday through Thursday. This gives me full availability on Mondays, Fridays, and weekends, allowing me to offer flexible and reliable pet care during those times. I’m happy to accommodate a variety of schedules and provide attentive care whenever your pet needs it most. I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs and routine, whether in my home or a pet owner’s home. I focus on maintaining familiar schedules for feeding, walks, playtime, and rest to help pets feel comfortable and secure. I provide plenty of attention, enrichment, and affection, while also prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and calm handling. In a pet owner’s home, I respect their space and follow all care instructions closely, keeping the environment tidy and ensuring pets feel relaxed and well cared for in their own surroundings.
“Our cats (and also plants) enjoyed the care and attention she gave them. The cats were so relaxed and happy when we came home. Every day she send very lovely and clear updates and photos during the time we were away. We will definitely ask you first next time when we are going away. Thank you for your care.”

About: I’ve got lots of experience in looking after dogs of all shapes and sizes from my childhood sleepy greyhound to my sisters stubborn miniature dachshund Richmond. Based in the centre of Lancaster I’m in a convenient location and close to some great walks. I currently work full time but from home a few days week so I’m keen to make friends with lots of furry faces either giving them the perfect home away from home or just taking them for a stroll I love making sure the dogs feel safe and comfortable around me & in my home. I make sure to give a lot of attention, cuddles & play with their favourite toy but also make sure to stick to their usual routine so they know they can relax in my company.
About: I grew up with a dog for 15 and a half years, which had a profound impact on me. I decided to pursue dog training after adopting a Boxer, a decision I've never regretted. I've learned a great deal about myself, including my insecurities, strengths, and how dogs and horses perceive me. It's been an invaluable experience that I've refined more and more throughout my life. I can care for dogs of any size and age, though they should be at least one year old. If needed, I can train young dogs and also care for older ones. I can also administer oral medications and give your Sweetie a soft & calming massage. In 2018 and 2021, I adopted two rescued Greyhounds whose calm and balanced nature has helped many other dogs. Even though they sometimes get excited at dog meetups, they always manage to build a stable relationship. This invaluable talent has brought us many friends on our daily walks. My two sweeties have become important members of various dog groups / packs and are, of course, always welcome among people. I am also available to help with nearly any behavioural issues you may encounter with your dog. How to read a dog's body language? How do I train my dog not to pull on the leash all the time? Why does my dog bark even when there's (obviously) no reason to? Would you like to change this unwanted behaviour in your beloved pet? Talk to me. I work from my home office in the mornings and late evenings. At midday, I take my two Greyhounds for their second walk, and they always enjoy sharing this time with new friends. They are both extremely friendly and outgoing, even with small dogs. Then it's garden time, perhaps some training, or playtime with friends like a Giant Schnauzer and a Labrador at my home. So there's always something going on, and after all that romping around, a little nap is more than welcome. I live in a typical residential area in Morecambe, yet still close to Lancaster. The area in and around Heysham and Morecambe offers plenty of opportunities for dog walks - whether out in the open countryside, across fields, or through small wooded areas. Beach walks are by far the dogs' favourite, and we regularly meet up with friends. At home and in my backyard I offer lounging areas, cooling mats in the summer, and a separate feeding area - indoors or outdoors, depending on the season and weather conditions.

About: I'm experienced in caring for both cats and dogs, and especially passionate about giving excellent care to older and/or medically complex pets. I love the wide variety in cat behaviour, whether they are happiest just existing in the same room, or sitting on my lap, I am always happy to take care of them. While I love all types of dogs, I'm best suited to dogs with less intensive exercise needs, such as smaller breeds or elder dogs. To give more information about my experience taking care of animals, I began with taking care of my neighbour's cat when they went on holiday. Even once her owners were back from holiday, we got into a routine where the cat would wait on the front doorstep every day for me to give her chin scritches. My interest in taking care of medically complex pets comes from personal experience, as my family dog suffered a spinal cord injury a few years ago. Luckily, after excellent vet care, he has an excellent quality of life and is very happy, just with shorter walks than before and regular pain-management medication. I'm very happy to take care of pets that need a little extra attention and support, whether that is with medication, toileting, pain management, and anything else your pet needs support with. I'm most comfortable house-sitting, as this guarantees your pet will receive love and care whenever they need it. I can also travel for drop-in visits and walks. I'll probably ask a lot of questions just to make sure their is minimal disruption to your pets regular lifestyle, and will of course send plenty of updates and photos while taking care of them. I'm currently focusing on petsitting, alongside occasional crochet commissions. This gives me full flexibility to work within your pets' usual routine, and dedicate as much time as they need to be happy, healthy and comfortable. I will care for your pets as you do! It depends upon the individual pet and their usual routine - whether it's a cat that roams as they wish, a dog that has specific walk times, or anything in between. I trust that you know what is best for your pet, and will always to my best to minimise any disruption to their usual routine and lifestyle. I understand that some pets can find it stressful to be taken care of by a new person, and am always happy to do home visits ahead of your trip so that we can make sure that I am the right person to take care of your pet. I am also insured as a petsitter and dog walker, should any incidents occur.
“Paige did an excellent job taking care of our quite shy cat. She kept us updated with photos and videos while we were away, which really put our minds at ease. We felt completely reassured knowing our pet was in such good hands. I would definitely hire Paige again in the future :)”

About: I have taken care of both my own dogs and other peoples for 10 years, I also have experience in cat sitting and have previously owned Guinea pigs. Throughout my time looking after dogs I have dealt with both senior and puppies making me well suited to accommodate the specific needs of individual dogs. I am currently studying at university and have plenty of time both to walk dogs and make home visits, as well as overnight stays so am very flexible in terms of how many hours I can work as well as when those hours are. Both at home and in another pet owners home I make sure that Gates leading out of the property are properly shut so that all pets remain safe. I also make sure that the needs of all pets including food, water and attention are met so that the pets in question are not only well looked after but are also happy.
About: I’ve owned 2 dogs in my lifetime, ranging from a boxer to a small yorkie, both of which have completely different personalities but I love them equally. My yorkie is currently 13 years old and so I have experience working with older dogs and I acknowledge that they need more time to go on short walks, as well as the possibility of bowel problems, sleepiness, and limited eating. I have also had the opportunity to take care of my friends dog while she was away on holiday, he was a cockapoo. I love going on walks around nature and whilst on these walks, I have helped reunite owners with their lost dogs twice through looking at collars, as well as ensuring the dog stays with me and is given lots of cuddles for reassurance! Im currently a second year university student and apart from Mondays, my days in university aren’t busy at all, with me only in university for 2 hours at most from Tuesday to Friday. I have Wednesdays and weekends off, as well as every evening and I would love to be able to give my love to other dogs whilst I’m in university and away from my baby at home. I’m happy to travel to different places around lancashire and Cumbria so your doggo can have a new place to wander and run about :) I Have my own room in university and it is a house with 4 other people. There is a small back yard but I live opposite the University of Cumbria which has a field, perfect for letting dogs have a toilet break if needed. I also have a car and I am more than happy for dogs to have a drive around whilst we search for a big field or nature walks!

“Ashleigh came to do a meet and greet with me and my Border Collie, Casper, and took him for a walk. He seemed to love her straight away and she had a great skill and confidence in getting my cheeky dog to behave! Really looking forward to Ashleigh taking care of Casper again and have booked further dog walks and house/dog sitting with her.”

Chloe took the time to meet our two cats before the booking, which we really appreciated. She was very easy to communicate with and always asked questions if she was unsure about anything. Throughout our time away, she provided plenty of updates and photos, giving us peace of mind that our cats were well cared for. We came home to two happy, relaxed cats and would happily recommend Chloe to anyone looking for a reliable and caring cat sitter.

Linda has been absolutely amazing. She gave so much care and attention to all of our elderly cat’s needs and eccentricities, ensuring he got all of his meds and plenty of time for strokes. We were a bit worried about leaving our cat in the hands of a stranger, especially as he has additional health needs, but Linda treated him like he was one of our own and we were able to see him contentedly purring in the videos she sent during her visits, leaving us free to relax and enjoy our holiday knowing he was in safe hands. I highly recommend Linda, and would definitely use her services again.
Bonnie did a fantastic job taking care of our two cats when we were away at short notice. She was reliable and professional and kept us updated with lovely photos every day which made us feel very reassured! Both cats were really happy and relaxed when we returned. We would highly recommend Bonnie and would not hesitate to book with her again.

It was in the initial meeting that i knew Beatrice was the perfect person to look after a rather nervous cat who would be feeling lonely when i went on holiday. She was great in learning what was needed and i know that in her 30 minute visits, my cat would have got a huge amount of 'tlc'. It was great to receive a video during my time away. The end of my holiday was thrown into total chaos due to severe weather in Europe, airport closures and flight cancellations. However, Beatrice willingly stepped in with anything extra which was needed until i could return home. The wonderful thing is that when i go away again, i will be asking Beatrice to look after my cat in full knowledge of the superb care and attention my 'fluffy friend' will get!
Izzy and Ben are wonderful sitters for our 8 week old puppy. They took the time to meet us first and understand what we were looking for and have provided him excellent care and play where we have needed. Covering both future and last minute bookings. Great communication, photos and feedback.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Lancaster pet parents with similar pet households.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lancaster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
