I'd love to take care of your pet
I'm experienced in caring for both cats and dogs, and especially passionate about giving excellent care to older and/or medically complex pets. I love the wide variety in cat behaviour, whether they are happiest just existing in the same room, or sitting on my lap, I am always happy to take care of them. While I love all types of dogs, I'm best suited to dogs with less intensive exercise needs, such as smaller breeds or elder dogs. I also have experience taking care of reactive dogs. For drop-ins and dog walks, I may be able to offer a discounted rate in the LA1 3 and LA1 4 areas. If pricing is a concern for you, for example due to low income, or having a large multi-pet household, please get in touch as I may be able to offer a discounted rate. My first proper petsitting experience was taking care of my neighbour's cat when they went on holiday. Even once her owners were back from holiday, we got into a routine where she would wait on the front doorstep every day for me to give her chin scritches. My interest in taking care of medically complex pets comes from personal experience, as my family dog suffered a spinal cord injury a few years ago. Luckily, after excellent vet care, he has an excellent quality of life and is very happy, just with shorter walks than before and regular pain-management medication. I'm very happy to take care of pets that need a little extra attention and support, whether that is with medication, toileting, pain management, reactivity, anxiety, and anything else your pet needs support with. If you're going to be away overnight or for multiple days, I recommend house sitting, as this guarantees your pet will receive love and care whenever they need it. I'll probably ask a lot of questions just to make sure their is minimal disruption to your pets regular lifestyle, and will of course send plenty of updates and photos while taking care of them.

I will care for your pets as you do! I trust that you know what is best for your pet, and will always to my best to minimise any disruption to their usual routine and lifestyle. I understand that some pets can find it stressful to be taken care of by a new person, so am always happy to do home visits ahead of your trip to make sure your pet knows and likes me - or at least, accepts my presence. I am also insured as a petsitter and dog walker, should any incidents occur. For safety reasons, I prefer to provide my own lead for walks - I will bring this along to a meet and greet so that we can check it's comfortable for your dog. If your dog (or cat!) has a usual walk route, I always appreciate it you can map it out for me.

Rowan was fabulous looking after our three dogs. She kept us informed and asked questions when needed, and sent lots of updates. We have one old dog who is a bit quirky and she managed him beautifully and didn't bat an eye at his eccentric ways. Our dogs were super calm when we arrived home, and were obviously very comfortable with Rowan. We would not hesitate to use Rowan again.
Rowan was brilliant with Truffle. I felt very at ease knowing she was being looked after. Rowan was very professional and made note of any instructions I had. I would definitely ask Rowan to look after Truffle again!
Rowan was brilliant with our two cats, who instantly took to them and clearly felt safe with them. Rowan stayed overnight in our home with the cats, and left it clean, without any concerns. Rowan sent regular updates for how the cats were getting on, including photos. Rowan followed everything we asked of them, which we're very grateful for! We'll be booking Rowan again - thoroughly recommend!
We were very pleased with the care our two cats received. She looked after them overnight and took excellent care of both of them while we were away. She made sure they were well fed, comfortable, and given plenty of attention, which gave us real peace of mind. Everything was kept exceptionally clean and tidy, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about their wellbeing. We came home to two happy, relaxed cats and a spotless house. Rowan looked after my dog, Kitsune, and provided exceptional care throughout. Kitsune has complex medication requirements, and Rowan confidently managed administering his medications while ensuring the process was as stress-free as possible for him. Kitsune can be reactive, but Rowan approached him with remarkable kindness, patience, and empathy. They respected his boundaries, accepted his behaviour without judgement, and handled him in a way that made him feel safe and understood. During periods of hot weather when walks were not suitable, Rowan took the time to provide enrichment activities to keep Kitsune mentally stimulated and help tire his brain out. They also worked hard to maintain his normal routines, which is incredibly important for his wellbeing. Rowan supported Kitsune's raw feeding diet and had no issues managing the preparation and feeding of his meals, including some of his particularly pungent favourite foods. Knowing that Rowan was attentive to both his physical and emotional needs gave me complete peace of mind. I would highly recommend Rowan to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated pet caregiver.

Schedule
I primarily work as a petsitter, alongside occasional knit and crochet commissions. This gives me full flexibility to work within your pets' usual routine, and dedicate as much time as they need to be happy, healthy and comfortable.
