“As someone who never used dog boarding before, we were initially very reluctant and anxious. Our pets have been our family for years, most especially our senior dog (who’s 13 yrs old-he’s been with us since he was a pup), there was that fear, even thinking about the idea but because its necessary, we just have to do it. We are very thankful that James and Jane really took care of Pierre and Zaki. James is reassuring and made us feel confident that there isn't anything to worry about. He kept us updated and was responsive all throughout Pierre and Zaki’s stay. We are glad we got to the right sitters the first time and we do recommend them in anyone’s future pet services.”

“I was looking for a sitter to watch our little Banksy whilst we went on holiday. I am so so pleased with how well he has been looked after, i received constant updates and pictures of our pooch and i knew he was in safe hands. The whole process from start to finish was amazing and went so smoothly. Chelsea and Andy are fantastic dog sitters and if your pup likes other dogs then this is a little holiday for them aswell. 10/10 review, will be using chelsea and Andy again every single time we go away. Couldn’t have asked for a more amazing family to give Banksy the best week ❤️ From Scarlett and Tom”

“Matt and Zoe had a wonderful care of our little dog. We were updated daily about his activities and I believe he became an even better dog with their care and stimuli. I strongly recommend them if you need someone to look after your dog. You won't be disappointed.”

“Sarah and her family made Pumpkin so welcome, I'm sure she would have stayed there forever! Daily exercise and lots of attention as well as great communication during the booking process and an update everyday that we were away. We will definitely be rebooking in the furture. Thank you so much!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Barrow-in-Furness
Our dog, Tiggi is always excited when she realises where she is going. Olivia sends me photos and messages so I can see how happy Tiggi is while in her care, often in the company of Olivia and Scott's spaniels who are her best mates. I trust Olivia and Scott to take the best care of Tiggi.

Felt relaxed and at ease leaving my little Bentley with Will. Previously met him and his lovely Huskie dog prior to his stay. This made me more relaxed, as they were ok with each other. Bentley can sometimes be a apprehensive with bigger dogs. Will messaged me photos of Bentley showing he settled in well and liked been in his dogs company too. I would definitely recommend Will to other dog owners to have their dog stay with him as a dog sitter. I felt very comfortable and would more than happy for Bentley to stay their again.

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
