We were so pleased to find Svitlana when we needed somewhere in Workington for our dog to stay. Sivtlana was quick and professional to communicate with and very willing to be flexible with us when we couldn't confirm exact drop off time til close to the day, and also when we needed to collect our dog early due to a change in our plans. Had a lovely video of Harley playing, so I'm sure he had a great stay :) We'll rebook if we are in need to have him stay in Workington again.

Hunter and Monty have just got back from an amazing weekend stay with Katrina. She has looked after them so well with lovely walks, games and chill times on the setee, sending us regular photos and videos to keep us updated of their adventures. Katrina was also happy to deal with their raw food diet and medication which was great. I would wholeheartedly recommend Katrina as a great person to look after your dogs and will definitely be using her again.

Our dogs stayed with Kat for four nights and we were absolutely delighted with the service. It was truly a home-from-home experience. The boys were so well looked after and clearly very happy when we collected them. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend Kat to anyone looking for loving, reliable care for their dogs!

Diane was amazing from start to finish & Petra had a wonderful time. Communication was excellent and when we arrived Petra was welcomed & settled in beautifully. Diane clearly cares deeply for the animals she looks after and we felt really happy about leaving Petra with her overnight. The photos and video updates throughout Petra’s stay were lovely & it was really reassuring for us to see her looking so settled and happy. Definitely recommend 😊

From the moment Hector met Nicola we knew he would be in safe hands. He can be a bit of nervous dog until he gets to know a person and she immediately made him feel at home getting down to his level. According to Nicola they had a nice four days together and he loved his swims in the nearby beck and he was very chilled throughout. Looking forward to his next stay. Thank you so much Nicola.

About: I’ve grown up with dogs since being tiny always having a family dogs. I’ve had a range of breeds and currently have my own puppy Labrador and my family have 4 dachshunds which I lived with and looked after before I moved into my own home. I currently work full time as a A&E nurse. I work 13 hour shifts and usually have 4 days off a week I can come and visit your dog. I get my rota 2 months in advance so can give plenty of notice on my free days. I live in a fully fenced off garden which I let my puppy play in. I will never take your dog off the lead unless instructed to.

Sam was well looked after for the 2 nights he stayed with Katrina, he is hard of hearing and seeing and she made him feel at home and he was very comfortable. She respected our worries about him being picked up as he is old and has a bad back. She sent us regular updates on how he was doing to give us peace of mind while we were away. Im very happy he was happy with Katrina. Will definitely book her to look after him again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
