“Lexie what’s a great Sitter for our dog Parker. She offered to come and meet him beforehand so she could get to know him and his needs. She sent photos while we were away and he seemed very happy and comfortable there. Would use again.”

About: I am a young, fit individual who loves going on walks and spending time with animals🐾🏔️☺️ I can provide daily visits for dogs (or cats), dog walking, doggy day care or at times overnight boarding! For overnight boarding the dogs are allowed on the sofa, and there are lots of toys and balls to play with here too☺️ I have had dogs my whole life, starting with labradors and now border terriers. My own dog Teddy has a diagnosis of epilepsy so I am able to manage dogs with medical conditions well. I have access to a car and can drive to any appointments🚘 If my availability doesn’t suit, don’t hesitate to send a request or message anyways and I will see what I can do. My partner often helps me too if I am unavailable🥰 I currently work full time through a shift schedule. However I often have spare time on my hands during days off on which I would love to go a walk or help out other dog owners. I can also provide overnight boarding for well behaved, socialised dogs. When in someone else’s home I will respect any instructions given to me. I can bring my own dog on walks (if wanted) to keep company.
“Alexandra and Matt looked after Woody who is a hyper 2 year old spaniel! So friendly and reassuring as soon as we arrived at their place and Woody instantly took to her! Regular updates and photos/videos throughout his stay and he was knackered when we collected him. Would 100% recommend Alexandra and Matt 😊”

“I would like to thank Savannah and her partner for taking exceptional care of Matilda. Matilda is an old lady now; and we didn't want her in a kennels. The updates and the uploaded pictures of my baby really gave us peace of mind whilst on holiday. Matilda looked so happy and content. Thank you so much for giving her such outstanding care, she is so relaxed at home, which; if in kennels would have taken a day or two to return to her normal self.”

“Fantastic sitter and such a lovely person. Booking for mine and my mums dog, my mum was quite nervous leaving her senior dog for a few nights but can't believe how settled she was. Both of our girls have come back happy and relaxed”

“Michelle was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much for her. Our dog has a disability Michelle was so good and did more than we expected in caring for Mouse. I couldn’t thank her enough and her wonderful family. Thankyou”

“Harriet, James and Desmond the dachshund were very welcoming of Barney. The photos of Barney relaxing on the sofa and on a walk with Desmond the next morning after his sleepover were very reassuring. We will definitely use Harriet again in the future to look after Barney when we are away. Thank you.”

About: I have over 10 years of hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals, from cats and dogs to horses and pigs. I’ve house-sat for multiple families, ensuring their pets are well cared for and kept in their usual routines while owners are away. I hold a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, which gave me in-depth knowledge of animal health, welfare, behaviour, and husbandry across multiple species. Alongside this, I have experience working in a small animal veterinary practice, where I developed strong skills in recognising signs of illness, supporting senior pets, and assisting with general animal care. I am confident with basic medication administration and maintaining consistent routines for puppies and younger dogs. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve regularly cared for my own pets as well as those of family and friends for many years. I am responsible, reliable, and understand the trust involved in caring for both pets and homes. Pet care is my full-time focus. I run my own business caring for dogs and horses, which means I have full control over my schedule and can plan my days around the animals in my care. Because of this flexibility, I’m able to provide consistent attention, regular walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Whether your pet needs active stimulation, structured exercise, or simply calm company, I can tailor my routine to suit their individual needs.
“Katy and Chris were fantastic! Ruby had such a good time while she stayed with them. She got on so well with her buddy Tiger their golden retriever. We felt very reassured throughout her stay because Katy was excellent at keeping in touch with us with pictures and updating us what they all got up to. Will definitely book again and highly recommend Katy and Chris for your furry friends :)”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Carlisle
Mollie, Patrick and the sweetie pie Rodney were such lovely people. What an AMAZING time Macy had on her little holiday staying with them all in their beautiful home. They did exactly what was promised and more. Macy was treated like one of their family and Macy adored them back. In fact, she had such a fab time that she was very reluctant to leave and come home lol 😂!!! I'm sure Macy will be returning (if Mollie and the rest of the family will have her back!😂)

Our two shih tzus had a great stay with Cora. She was welcoming and reassuring from the start, kept us well informed throughout their stay, and went out of her way to make sure they were happy and comfortable. She also has a great location right beside a nice park. Would highly recommend and use again.

Alice and Ronan were fantastic! My dog can be quite anxious with new people but they were great with keeping him occupied with treats and snuggles. I really appreciated the updates and photos from Alice. He clearly had an amazing time and was made to feel at home during his stay. Thankyou so much, I'll definitely be booking again! 🤩

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
