“We really enjoyed meeting Sharon and she was fabulous with our lurchers. They were in great hands all day and she handled their quirks well. We wouldn’t hesitate to book Sharon’s services again.”

About: I’ve had dogs on/off for 30yr, and the last 25yr I’ve also had horses. I’ve worked in kennels and cattery and been around all kinds of animals lol. I enjoy being outdoors and the dogs would just come with me wherever I go as part of the family. I have house sitting on to book but it’s rare I can do it but do ask and I’ll see what I can do. I currently work full time so don’t really want a dog full time as not fair on them even though I can work from home sometimes :-) a friend recommended this app so seems like the next best thing to help others I have a fully enclosed back garden with 6ft fence, grass and yard areas. I live on a cul de sac so safe when first take the dogs out. Dogs won’t be allowed on my bed but can go on the living room furniture and will as my own dog would. I attended dog training classes for agility and obedience for a long time then helped out at the classes so I can carry on with any training you may be doing with your own dogs. I’ve cared for family and friends pets when the need arises, they vary in size and temperament. I have also had a springer, working cocker and boxer of my own, sadly no longer here.

About: I've taken care of dogs ever since I can remember. I've always walk, fed, and bathed family, neighbours and friends pets when they ahvent been able to I'm a university student so this is very therapeutic for me around the stress of coursework and exams. It fits well into my routines as I have hours to spare each day Taking care of pets is simple, make sure they have the right amount of food, always top up the water bowl, a good amount of exercise and cuddles!
“Laura is such a lovely lady so very friendly she arrived on time to look after Coby & he was all over her,she sent me a pic of him when we were out. I will gladly have Laura to look after Coby anytime I highly recommend. 🥰 Thanks again x”

About: I have owned and cared for my horse Rhona since I was 13, feeding, cleaning and maintaining her stable/field and riding her regularly. I used to travel up and down the country with her to participate in British show jumping. I have recently returned home from travelling Australia for a year so have plenty of time to look after your pets while I look for work. I am happy to follow any care instructions provided so that the pet gets the most normal routine that’s it Is used to as possible.
“Morgana was very caring with my puppy when I had to leave him home alone for the first time when I went back to work. She made sure he was well looked after and she sent lots of update pictures too. Would recommend to anyone in the area.”

“This is the first time I’ve used this and all I can say is the service was exceptional and I was really impressed with the excellent level of communication throughout. Emily accommodated my dogs needs and took time to learn the dogs routines, likes and dislikes. My two dogs were happy and content when I came home and I had no doubt in my mind whilst I was away that they were getting the very best care. Emily is Honest, trustworthy and outstanding at what she does !”

“Jenny looked after our 2 dogs for the day on pretty short notice. We were super anxious about leaving the dogs, but Jenny was amazing with them. She followed their routines perfectly & kept the dogs super calm while we were away. Will definitely be booking again.”

About: Hi, I’m Charlotte. I’ve recently moved back to the UK after living in Australia for 4 years and I’m now offering pet and house sitting. I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life, my mum’s house has basically been a bit of a dog kennel over the years (in the best way!), so I’ve always been hands on helping with everything from walks to feeding and general care. We’ve had Staffies, Chihuahuas, German Shepherds and Cocker Spaniels, so I’m very comfortable with different sizes, temperaments and energy levels. I also come from a healthcare/admin background, so I’m reliable, organised and used to responsibility and routines. I’ve recently returned from Australia and trying to adjust being back so i wanted to put my time, energy and love into something I genuinely enjoy alongside my admin work to help me get back to adjusting to be back home! I’m confident with dogs, cats and other small pets, and I’ll always follow your pet’s routine closely. I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you have peace of mind while you’re away. Currently offering a lower introductory rate while I build reviews. Happy to arrange a free meet & greet. I work Monday to Friday in a flexible admin role, so I’m able to plan my day around pet care, including walks, drop-ins and spending quality time with your pet. I’m fully available near enough every evening and weekends. I’m often out on the fells so I love getting dogs out for walks as it keeps me company rather than being on my own. I’m happy to be flexible and follow your pet’s usual routine to keep them comfortable and settled. I provide pet care in your home, so your pet can stay in a familiar and comfortable environment while you’re away. I’m respectful, clean and trustworthy, and I’ll follow your instructions closely to keep your pet’s routine as normal as possible, including feeding, walks and any specific care needs. I’m confident with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I’ll also keep you updated with regular messages and photos so you have complete peace of mind while you’re away.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Copeland
Don’t let Sophie’s lack of reviews deter you from booking her. This was my first time leaving my puppy (as well as my mums elderly chocolate Labrador), so I was very nervous to be out all day! Sophie was lovely at the meet and greet, you could tell immediately that she loves dogs (and they love her back) - the updates throughout the booking were very reassuring, and all of the instructions we left for curtains being shut, key being posted and the kitchen light being left on were bang on! Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Copeland walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Copeland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
