Pet care experience

Here for those tail waggles! 😊

I am a caring person that loves to give as much as attention to a dog as possible. I have been around so many in life and therefore have the confidence to approach any on the street for a stroke or cuddle. I am organised and like to stick to routines for myself or pets I look after. I am definitely an outdoors person but also can relax inside with a lovely cat when I am feeling in the mood for that on a rainy day or for an indoor cat to be loved. I have worked in a lot of customer service roles and therefore have the ability to deliver great experiences for any owner I connect with I have recently completed an Animal and Behaviour psychology course via Alison courses and learn't about various topics - communication, social structure within the animal kingdom, cognitive processes including memory, learning and problem solving for domesticated animals too. I am happy to evidence my certificate and course transcript for any owner and I am keen to do anything else which improves my skills and knowledge about animals in the future too. ** Please note - I am also fully registered on DBS on update service too". Any questions, just drop me a message Mike 😊

Mike was great with Rupert, our old fox terrier, who is almost fully blind! Mike's flat was great for Rupert to roam around and he felt at home soon after I left him. I would highly recommend Mike if you are looking for a sitter.

Mike cared for my dog Nala and did an amazing job. Nala is a very timid and sensitive dog, so I provided Mike with a detailed care plan to help her feel safe and comfortable. Mike listened carefully, understood all of her needs straight away, and followed the plan perfectly. He was calm, patient and very responsible with her, especially during walks and around other dogs, as Nala can be nervous and reactive when overwhelmed. Mike showed real understanding of dog behaviour and made sure she always felt secure and settled in his care. Nala was happy, relaxed and very well looked after with Mike. It was clear he genuinely cared about her wellbeing and took the responsibility seriously. I would completely trust Mike to care for Nala again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, kind and attentive dog walker or pet caregiver

A Gentle friend Mike is always very gentle and kind to my A, (labrador/husky). Whwnever he pops over my dog is always the first to say hello. Mike loves animals and speaks fondly of his late family pet.

Schedule

I am a general volunteer for a community theatre group (In another place) and a self-advocate for People first Merseyside so a lot of my voluntary work is split between those organisations that are very important to me in the week. I generally help In another place on Saturdays in the castle where games and shows happen until 3pm so my day is busy from 10am-3pm on most Saturdays. I can work my hours around my voluntary work or hikes during each day of the week unless there is something that is extremely important not to miss out during my advocacy work at People first. Church for me is attended on 1st or 3rd Sunday of the month as it's part of the open table network and therefore allows for Sunday pet sitting opportunities too

Safety, trust & environment

I have a secure locking system on my door and a indoor camera which is good for looking at what's going on indoors as well as outdoors in the estate I live in. There is a beautiful canal nearby me and rimrose valley which has plenty of space for dogs to run about in. I like to keep my home as quiet as possible and don't like disturbances much from neighbours either so dogs or cats can relax easily when I am watching TV a low volume or reading a book in the evening in bed. I have very high standards and like to keep my flat as clean as possible through an organised system of tasks to complete each week. I don't have a lot of clutter around me and tend to keep floors as spacious as possible for me or animals too.

Pets

A typical day

I would be happy to play with toys, chase dogs around a field or my flat, tease cats with toys, spend time teaching dogs tricks if necessary for their energy levels or the benefit of their owner

Cats
0 to 7 kg
7 to 18 kg
Dogs over 1 year old
No females in heat
Takes only 1 client at a time
Mike can host up to 2 pets per night
I don't have a preference for a particular coloured or fur covered animal but I do want a dog I can manage which isn't too strong or heavy for me. As for cats, I like ones that enjoy being on my lap or playing about regularly. The fluffier they are the better!
