Pet care experience
Your pet loved like one of our own
Hi, I’m Chloe! I’m 22 years old and have been caring for dogs since I was around 10. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life and I genuinely love giving them the care, attention and affection they deserve. ❤️ I have a Shih-Poo called Lottie, who lives with my mum, and I absolutely love her to bits. I also had a Westie x Maltese called Ellie, who sadly passed away at the amazing age of 13. Towards the end of her life, Ellie developed a stomach tumour and required a lot of care, including medication, a strict diet and day and night attention. I used to take her out in a doggy pram alongside Lottie so she could still enjoy being outside. Over the years, I’ve often been the first person family and friends come to when they need someone trustworthy to look after their pets. Since starting Happy Hounds Elsecar, we’ve had the pleasure of caring for lots of lovely dogs, including Lottie, Peggy, Star, Buddy, Storm, Scampi, Jess, Nala, Yogi and Delilah. Each dog has had their own personality, routine and needs, which has given us great experience with different temperaments, breeds and care requirements, from playful dogs who love garden time and walks, to dogs who prefer cuddles, calm company and reassurance. We currently do not have any pets living in the house full time, although Lottie does still come for sleepovers every now and then. Your fur-baby would be staying with my boyfriend and I in our home and would receive plenty of love, care, attention and cuddles from us both (me and my boyfriend Josh). 💖 We always aim to make every dog feel safe, settled and treated like part of the family during their stay. Chloe was amazing! Yogi was extremely well looked after and given all the care and attention he needed. I would not hesitate in asking Chloe to look after him again! Thank you so much Chloe- we really appreciate it ❤️

We had a fantastic experience with our dog boarder! Chloe looked after our border collie, Buddy, for 3 nights and we couldn’t have asked for better care. Communication was excellent throughout, and the regular pictures and videos were such a lovely touch—it really put our minds at ease. Buddy looked so happy and relaxed when we picked him up, which says it all. We’ll definitely be using her services again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others!
Chloe was amazing with our little Maltese Star. It was obvious that she really cared for him and that he loved being her. We could completely relax knowing how well he was being cared for. Thank you so much Chloe, we will be using your services again.

Think we have found the best dog sitter in the world. It was Sargents first night away from us in four years, Chloe was so good with him and kept us informed with msg and pictures, he won’t be stopping anywhere else.

My pup Peggy loves her days with Chloe. I was a little nervous leaving her for the first time at 12 weeks - as much for Chloe's wellbeing as Peggy's, she can be a handful and is pretty bitey - but from our first introductory meeting I knew she'd be in good hands 😊 Chloe is a natural with Peggy and is very patient with her puppy behaviour. She has arranged meetings with her family dog - after checking initially that I was OK with this - and I get a full summary of the day, updates and pics. She even checks in to see how Peggy is on the weeks she hasn't been 🫶 I know Peggy is very happy there as instead of fussing when I leave her she will dash upstairs to wake Chloe's boyfriend (sorry Josh 🫣), and after a quick hello when I pick her up, she's off to find another toy to play with 😂 Peggy will definitely be back and is looking forward to her first sleepover. I highly recommend Chloe for doggy day care ☺️

So glad I found Chloe on here and last minuite as well. Her and he partner were so welcoming and accepted both my pooches as their own. Would 💯 recommend. Plenty of photos and updates. Cant wait for them to stay again!

Schedule
Both my partner and I work flexibly. This means we can plan our days around the dogs we care for, including regular toilet breaks, walks, feeding times, playtime and plenty of cuddles. We are usually able to make sure someone is at home for most of the day, so dogs are not left for long periods of time. We like to keep each dog’s routine as close to their normal home routine as possible, whether that’s morning walks, garden time, quiet time, or extra attention if they need reassurance. Caring for dogs is something we genuinely enjoy, so we’re happy to fit our schedule around their needs and make sure they feel safe, settled and loved during their stay.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
For dogs staying in our home, we aim to make them feel safe, settled and treated like part of the family. We follow the owner’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, toilet breaks, walks, medication if required, playtime and rest. Dogs have access to a comfortable home environment, a secure garden for toilet breaks and play, and plenty of attention, cuddles and reassurance throughout their stay. For daycare, we provide a safe and relaxed environment where dogs can enjoy company, playtime, walks if required, garden time and quiet rest periods. We understand that every dog is different, so we adapt the day depending on whether they are energetic and playful or prefer a calmer, more settled routine. For dog walking or visits in the pet owner’s home, we always respect the owner’s property and follow any instructions carefully. This may include walking, feeding, topping up water, letting the dog out for toilet breaks, giving medication, cleaning up after them and making sure they are comfortable before we leave. We always ask owners to provide details about their dog’s routine, behaviour, likes, dislikes, feeding, health needs and emergency contacts so we can give the best possible care.
Pets
A typical day
The activities we do depend on each dog’s personality, age, energy levels and what their owner is happy with. We always want pets to feel safe, happy and comfortable while they are in our care. We love taking dogs for walks in the local area, especially around Elsecar Park, giving them plenty of time to explore, sniff and enjoy being outside. We also offer playtime in the garden, fetch and lots of interaction to keep them entertained. For dogs who prefer a calmer day, we provide cuddle time, chill time, gentle play and quiet rest periods so they do not feel overwhelmed. We always adapt activities to suit each dog, whether they are energetic and playful or prefer a more relaxed routine. Our aim is to make sure every dog has a fun, loving and happy stay with us.
