“I can’t recommend Elizabeth enough. This was our first time using Rover, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Elizabeth was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared so much about our dogs. She kept us updated throughout the visit, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. It made such a difference knowing our dog was in safe and caring hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and kind sitter.”

About: I am Giulia, I live with my partner and our corgi Mortimer in a flat in the heart of Edinburgh. We are close to The Meadow (if your buddies love to meet new friends), Holyrood Park (if they prefer a more peaceful and calm park) and to a small park just behind the flat, perfect for a wee walk. Mortimer is very friendly and always happy to spend time with new dog friends :) I have always had huge love for animals and especially dogs. Since I was younger I volunteered at my local shelter back in Italy, taking care of dogs and walk them. This experience has been very important to me, I had the chance to learn how to approach many dogs with different personalities, and also with no-longer-puppies with trust issues. It has been years since we started dog boarding and walking and it has been a great experience. We will do our best to provide a loving home for your furry best friends while you are away! We want to keep your dog's routine as much stable as we can, providing as much cuddles, exercise and play as he/she needs! :) I can't wait to know your furry fellas! I work full time but I have a flexible schedule and can work remotely if needed. I usually give my dog a long walk/play in the morning and after work, and a shorter one at lunch and before going to bed. My flat is close to The Meadow (if your buddies love to meet new friends), Holyrood Park (if they prefer a more peaceful and calm park) and to a small park just behind the flat, perfect for a wee walk.
About: I have taken care of dogs all my life, I have been raised with them, I have been in charge of pets of friends, neighbours... that's why I love animals🐾 I currently have free time for pet care and boarding both weekdays and weekends . In order to give them the best treatment . :) I live near green parks and Arthur's Seat, quiet area where we can take long walks, play, explore new areas walk, run, make friends, etc.

“Eirini is a very nice, energetic and enthusiastic sitter, even on her 1st visit to my cat Julius she managed to make him warm up to her quickly. She sent me photos of her interactions with Julius straight away. Overall comms to organise everything and get to know each other went smoothly. Julius will certainly see her again! I would definitely recommend Eirini to look after your fur-baby.”
About: For the last 19 years of my life dogs have been an important part of it. They are not “ just animals” for me, they are family, dogs are living creatures deserving of love, care and respect. I have experience with small to medium big dogs. Ive had taken care of puppys to senior dogs. I know how to walk them, give medicine if needed. My schedule at the moment is mostly free on weekends (fri -sun) for drop ins or long walks, also can take care of them on weekends if needed requested in advance. I currently live in a flat so i could potentially take care of small sized dogs here but happy to watch out for bigger in their own homes.
“I cannot highly recommend Feng enough. Feng is very friendly and attentive to details. He carried out our instructions to the letter including the last minute medication for one of our cats. Would love to have him again in the future!”

“Daria was incredible looking after our cat Kyra, she not only looked after her and made sure we were updated every day but she also kept our flat immaculate. We will definitely book her again.”

“Meredith cared really well for Talula after I’d had to cancel a previous sit last minute due to illness. I felt very confident leaving Talula to be cared for after we’d met, and came home to a sleepy but happy dog!”

“Bronagh and Kathryn were absolutely amazing with my kitty while we were away visiting family. I felt so secure knowing she was safe with them, and they sent regular updates and lots of photos to keep us in the loop!”

“Aimee is extremely patient with pixie. She understand that with pixie having high anxiety and being hyper vigilant she is an extremely nervous and scared dog. Aimee respects Pixies boundaries and doesn’t impose on her to help alleviate pixies sacredness. Would definitely recommend Aimee’s services”

“Nicollette is a wonderful catsitter, she gave us regular updates and truly cared about our 2 cats. Would happily recommend to any cat owner and we would use her service again. Thanks Nicollette!”

About: We’ve always had family dogs, and I also had my own dog for a couple of years. I have experience with foster dogs, and my friends often rely on me to take care of their pups when they travel to warmer places. I genuinely love spending time with dogs, giving them cuddles, playtime, and plenty of attention. I’m currently working from home, so I can keep your dog company all day long and make sure they’re never alone if needed. I have plenty of time for hugs, games, and walks! We’ll both make sure your dog gets extra love while you’re away. I strictly follow owners’ rules when it comes to schedule and food, no treats unless you say so!

“Pat was amazing with Willow! Not only did he take care of everything perfectly, but he also came by twice on Christmas Day! Willow was very spoiled with lots of play and cuddles, and Pat kept us updated with plenty of pictures and videos. Honestly, I think Willow was disappointed to see us come home! 100% recommend Pat and would definitely rebook ”

About: I’ve completed over 30 through a different platform so far, with some lovely repeat hosts who’ve already booked me in again. I have experience looking after both dogs and cats, including rescues, shy pets, and those with medical needs. One of my regular sits involves giving medication, and I’ve previously cared for a cat with FIV as well as a dog with joint and lung issues. I’ve also house- and petsat for friends and family over the years—everything from a month-long stay in Aberdeen to shorter sits in Edinburgh and Germany. I work from home, so your pets will have plenty of company, and I always make sure to keep things clean and calm so they feel relaxed in their routine. Hi, I’m a old digital nomad with a deep love for travelling, animals, and new experiences. I don’t smoke, don’t drink, and I’m vegetarian. I grew up in Germany with a mix of pets—budgies, a Shih Tzu, and a cat—and my family’s Italian roots mean I’ve enjoyed a blend of cultures from an early age. At 18, I took a leap and spent a year in South Africa, my first trip outside Europe, to broaden my horizons. After that, I moved to Scotland for university, where I embraced every opportunity to explore, studying abroad in Canada and Switzerland, and attending summer schools in Denmark and the United States. Since completing my master’s degree, I’ve been working remotely as a sales executive. I’ve been lucky enough to work from amazing places like Finland, Malta, Romania, Estonia, Morocco, Cyprus, Spain, Italy etc. So far, I’ve visited 43 countries and can’t wait to explore more corners of the world while making new friends, especially the furry kind :) When I’m not working or exploring, you’ll likely find me with a book in hand. I love reading and finished 114 books in 2023! I’d be honoured to care for your pets and home while you’re away, bringing my love of animals and sense of adventure to every sit. Past hosts have described me as respectful, kind, and caring—some cats have even made me their “favourite person”! I take pride in looking after people’s homes and pets as if they were my own, and I always leave things just as I found them (if not tidier!).

About: I have taken care of small and medium dogs in my neighborhood for a couple of years now. Love to take a long walk on parks and play with them. Also caring of cats and respecting their space I am a master student currently doing my dissertation! I have flexible hour schedule during week and weekend days! I would be happy to arrange pre-set meetings to get to know the owner and the pet! I work from home so I would make sure the dog will always have company. At the same time I like to take pictures of different moments of the day for the owner to feel comfortable! I believe that knowing basic information about the dog / cat is key. A chat with the owner can make the full caring experience better for all.
About: I work full time caring for dogs. I really enjoy spending time with your dog, playing with them and looking after them whilst you are away. I have experience looking after a wide range of dogs and their needs. I have a very free and flexible schedule and I am willing to put a lot of time and effort into looking after your beloved pet. I have lots of flat space for your pet to play around and rest. I have no other distracting animals and no other people my full attention will be on your dog.

Josie was great and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter, She helped us out last minute and took great care of our 2 cats whilst we were away, even making sure the flat was cool for the cats in the heatwave She kept us updated and sent some gorgeous photos, and it was clear from the photos the cats were big fans!

Nicollette was a fantastic cat sitter and I hope she is free to take care of Archie the next time we are away. She was a great communicator - even whilst I was somewhere with no mobile service! She sent amazing updates and photos of a very relaxed and happy cat. Archie can be funny about eating whilst I’m away but she did a great job at keeping his comfortable and happy. We came home to a content cat and couldn’t ask for more. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!

Amy was incredibly patient with my very anxious cat, who doesn’t come out often! She kept me updated to make sure I knew that he was eating and using his litter and sent me photos when she did manage to catch a glimpse of him. It’s hard enough to leave an animal anyway, but even more so when they’re scared of everyone except you! Amy made sure I knew he was being cared for patiently and kindly. I highly recommend, especially if you have an anxious kitty!

Victoria did a fantastic job looking after our 2 boys while we were away. She was very communicative and quick to respond to messages, she asked lots of questions to make sure she knew exactly what needed doing and she gave us lovely detailed updates each day. Both cats seemed very relaxed around her and were up to their usual antics during her visits. Would definitely have her look after them again!

I couldn’t be happier with Freya’s care for my cat Eli while I was away. They bonded straight away, which made everything so much easier. She’s been fantastic with him giving him his medication on time, playing with him every day, and letting him out when the weather allowed. The daily updates and photos were a lovely touch and really reassuring. Freya was also incredibly respectful of my property, leaving everything clean and tidy. I would use her services again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend Freya to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter. Thank you! Manuele

An absolute star Trevor has taken great care and attention of my three cats and has found a new friend in my luna the next time I go away he will be the first I will call on to look after my lot I think he's just the best cat sitter they've ever had. Thanks again

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edinburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
