“Thank you so much to Daria for taking amazing care of our cat!! He looked so happy in every picture she sent and we loved the detailed updates. She even went the extra mile to vacuum and take out the trash before we got home. I would highly recommend her for your pet care needs!”

“Aimee is extremely patient with pixie. She understand that with pixie having high anxiety and being hyper vigilant she is an extremely nervous and scared dog. Aimee respects Pixies boundaries and doesn’t impose on her to help alleviate pixies sacredness. Would definitely recommend Aimee’s services”

I have experience looking after a wide range of dogs and their needs. I have a very free and flexible schedule and I am willing to put a lot of time and effort into looking after your beloved pet. I have lots of flat space for your pet to play around and rest. I have no other distracting animals and no other people my full attention will be on your dog.
“I can’t recommend Elizabeth enough. This was our first time using Rover, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Elizabeth was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared so much about our dogs. She kept us updated throughout the visit, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. It made such a difference knowing our dog was in safe and caring hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and kind sitter.”

About: I am Giulia, I live with my partner and our corgi Mortimer in a flat in the heart of Edinburgh. We are close to The Meadow (if your buddies love to meet new friends), Holyrood Park (if they prefer a more peaceful and calm park) and to a small park just behind the flat, perfect for a wee walk. Mortimer is very friendly and always happy to spend time with new dog friends :) I have always had huge love for animals and especially dogs. Since I was younger I volunteered at my local shelter back in Italy, taking care of dogs and walk them. This experience has been very important to me, I had the chance to learn how to approach many dogs with different personalities, and also with no-longer-puppies with trust issues. It has been years since we started dog boarding and walking and it has been a great experience. We will do our best to provide a loving home for your furry best friends while you are away! We want to keep your dog's routine as much stable as we can, providing as much cuddles, exercise and play as he/she needs! :) I can't wait to know your furry fellas! I work full time but I have a flexible schedule and can work remotely if needed. I usually give my dog a long walk/play in the morning and after work, and a shorter one at lunch and before going to bed. My flat is close to The Meadow (if your buddies love to meet new friends), Holyrood Park (if they prefer a more peaceful and calm park) and to a small park just behind the flat, perfect for a wee walk.
“Fantastic as always! From the photos and notes left on the Rover card, Daisy is so relaxed and happy, which gives me peace of mind while I’m out for the day, and is uncommon for Daisy who can be a little nervous with new people.”

“Meredith cared really well for Talula after I’d had to cancel a previous sit last minute due to illness. I felt very confident leaving Talula to be cared for after we’d met, and came home to a sleepy but happy dog!”

About: I have just moved to Edinburgh after doing the Pacific Crest Trail last year - a 2650 mile hike. I am taking some time to settle in here and look for jobs and have been enjoying walking dogs and meeting their owners in the meantime! I grew up on a sheep farm in New Zealand with 10 sheep dogs, I'm very comfortable and happy around them. I'm happy to look after all sorts of dogs - I can keep up with more active dogs or just chill with a cosy pup. I have just moved to Edinburgh and currently am job hunting, so can be very flexible with whatever works for you! I'm likely to be working from home once I get a job - but will need to play that by ear a bit in the meantime. I'm happy to have pets at my flat but wouldn't be my core offering - it's a studio, spacious and light with a nearby park. If I'm in your home I will be respectful and careful with your space!

About: I’ve been taking care of all kinds of dogs since I was a kid. I have had two Great Danes (LOVE large breeds) and most recently lived with three cats of my own. I’m the go-to ‘pet sitter’ for all of my friends and frequently will watch theirs for weeks at a time. I love making sure pets feel safe and at home with me, whether it’s cuddles or going on adventures! I work remotely, so generally can fit my routine around the pet! If they need cuddles or alone time I can organize accordingly. For pets who need lots of outdoor time, I can hang in my front garden (weather permitting) and I love going on long walks and runs, so they can come with me when appropriate. I have a fenced front garden, and with pets I give them the space or lack of space they want generally. At my home,I give them a place to establish comfort, and at your home I follow your guidelines to make sure they have a routine to keep things normalized (with lots of treats if allowed)
“Charlotte was great with Olive! Olive went on really long walks which was super helpful as she is a very high energy puppy, Charlotte was on time, communicated well and very willing to accomodate olive and her needs :)”

About: For the last 19 years of my life dogs have been an important part of it. They are not “ just animals” for me, they are family, dogs are living creatures deserving of love, care and respect. I have experience with small to medium big dogs. Ive had taken care of puppys to senior dogs. I know how to walk them, give medicine if needed. My schedule at the moment is mostly free on weekends (fri -sun) for drop ins or long walks, also can take care of them on weekends if needed requested in advance. I currently live in a flat so i could potentially take care of small sized dogs here but happy to watch out for bigger in their own homes.

About: I’ve taken care of friends and family dogs and cats previously and have helped raise and train my flat mates puppy. I work from home Tuesdays and Fridays so can be flexible (including weekends). I have a small ground floor flat but able to provide toilet breaks as much as needed and walks before and after work and at lunch time if needed! I currently work full time - Tuesdays and Fridays from home. 9-5 Monday to Friday and will be available on some weekends too! When I work from home i am able to provide toilet breaks whenever needed and time outside/ walks before and after work and also on my lunch hour! Can be flexible - I sometimes dog sit for friends when they are in the office. I have a secure ground floor flat next to a safe walk way. I am also next to a lot of green space and there are many routes away from main roads.
About: We’ve always had family dogs, and I also had my own dog for a couple of years. I have experience with foster dogs, and my friends often rely on me to take care of their pups when they travel to warmer places. I genuinely love spending time with dogs, giving them cuddles, playtime, and plenty of attention. I’m currently working from home, so I can keep your dog company all day long and make sure they’re never alone if needed. I have plenty of time for hugs, games, and walks! I’m really flexible, and I believe a tired pup is a happy pup, so I love long adventures and play sessions! My partner and I live in a one-bedroom flat on Leith Walk, with plenty of parks nearby! We’ll both make sure your dog gets extra love while you’re away. I strictly follow owners’ rules when it comes to schedule and food, no treats unless you say so!
About: I have cared for dogs previously including dog sitting while owners go on holiday. I can deal with all things from cuddles to picking up the goods! I am a chartered accountant who works in a home based role therefore I can be flexible to suit your dogs needs throughout the day I will care for your animal as if it were my own. I pride myself on being a very organised and trustworthy person demonstrated by owners leaving their pets with me during their holidays.
“Annie has been absolutely fantastic with our dog Jazz. Jazz is quite shy and anxious about new people, but Annie has been so patient and gentle with her, she’s really taken the time to build up trust with Jazz. Annie is always very responsive, and gives detailed updates about her visits. We’ll definitely trust Annie to look after Jazz again.”

About: I have always been around animals and have so much experience dealing with them. I understand the needs and can read their cues very well I work from home so would like to fill that time up looking after some furry friends. I enjoy the outdoors and love long walks I have a fenced garden and live close to a giant park which is perfect for adventure for dogs. Georgina was amazing! I couldn’t recommend her enough. This was my first time booking with Georgina and she gave me full confidence from the get go. Every check in was accompanied with a kitty litter clean, food bowls cleaned, feeding, playing and brushing! These were all done without asking and shows how much she cares. I was given updates and multiple photos and videos each visit also! To top it off I was able to rely on Georgina to meet someone at my house to collect an item I had left behind and she did it without hesitation. A true gem! Xx
Shea did a fantastic job looking after my cat, Maszat, while I was away. She provided regular updates and photos throughout the stay. It was clear that she genuinely cared about Maszat and paid attention to her routine and personality. When I came home, Maszat was happy, relaxed, and very well looked after. I would happily book Shea again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

Jenni came to our rescue with very little notice and looked after our two cats after we were let down by another sitter. The cats liked her instantly and she kept us well updated, provided photos and looked after the house whilst we were away. We came back to two very happy, relaxed girls and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.
Lisa truly was a life saver and managed to kindly help me out last minute!! I really appreciated the updates she sent me whilst I was away and noticed that Lisa brought some extra toys for the cats! (Ive now been on Amazon to buy one I could see Judy was enjoying!). Thank you again so much Lisa! Will absolutely be using your services again and recommending you to friends and family who might need a cat sitter down the line.

Jessica looked after our cat Millie for two weeks while we were on holidays. She was friendly and reliable and provided daily updates including photos. We came home to a relaxed and happy cat. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Jessica again or recommend her to others.

Trevor is great with cats and felt very comfortable knowing he was going to look after Polo when I was away for the weekend. He gave thorough updates and took plenty of pictures which was very reassuring and even brought cat toys for Polo to play with. I have no doubts that I will use Trevor again in the future 😸

Our girls were so at ease with Amy, and when we came home they were happy, healthy and lovely as ever. She sent us lots of updates and we knew that Arti and Cal were getting all the attention they needed. We will definitely be asking Amy to look after them again.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Edinburgh pet parents with similar pet households.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edinburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
