About: I grew up with energetic spaniels and labradors for most of my life and in more recent years have started dog sitting for friends. Myself and my fiancé Emily love spending time with dogs but unfortunately are not able to have a dog of our own due to work travel commitments mid week. We are excited about the opportunity to meet and care for your dog. My fiancé and I work from the office Tuesday-Thursday but are home Friday-Monday. We spend most weekends walking around the city or hiking in the Pentlands. Growing up with dogs and spending many weekends looking after our friends dogs (Moose and Roo pictured) we're confident in our ability to provide a safe environment for your pet. We guarantee that your pet will never be left on their own.
About: Hi! I'm a lifelong dog lover with over 15 years of experience caring for dogs. I got my first dog when I was 11 years old and was actively involved in their daily care, including walks, feeding, playtime, training, and companionship. I currently have a 10-month-old puppy, so I'm very familiar with the energy, patience, and consistency that young dogs need. I also have experience pet sitting for friends, including overnight stays, daily walks, feeding routines, and providing plenty of attention while owners are away. I live in the city centre of Edinburgh, near the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links, making me a great option for both local owners and visitors. Whether you're heading away on holiday, exploring the city for the day, attending an event, or simply need some time for yourself, I'd be happy to care for your dog and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after. I specialise in puppies and small to medium-sized dogs and have experience caring for dogs with a variety of personalities, from shy and nervous dogs who need a calm approach to energetic pups who love plenty of exercise and play. I always aim to follow each owner's routine, preferences, and training methods as closely as possible to help dogs feel comfortable and secure while in my care. I'm comfortable administering basic medications when required and can adapt to your dog's individual needs. I know the local area well and have access to plenty of great walking routes and parks, providing lots of opportunities for exercise, enrichment, and fun. My home is a safe, puppy-proofed environment where your pet will receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision. I also understand how important it is for owners to stay connected while they're away, so I'm happy to provide regular photo and video updates for complete peace of mind. As I currently have full availability, I can be flexible with bookings and accommodate a wide range of schedules. My goal is to provide every dog with a home-away-from-home experience and care for them as if they were my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. As I'm currently taking a break from work, I have a very flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to the dogs in my care. My own 10-month-old puppy already keeps me active with regular walks, playtime, training, and enrichment activities throughout the day. This flexibility allows me to adapt to each dog's individual needs, whether that's multiple walks, maintaining a specific routine, providing companionship throughout the day, or accommodating early drop-offs and later pick-ups. I enjoy spending time with dogs and can ensure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and care rather than being left alone for long periods. When caring for pets in my home, I aim to make them feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. I provide a safe, dog-friendly environment where they can settle in, play, rest, and receive plenty of attention throughout the day. I follow each owner's instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, exercise requirements, medication needs, house rules, and any training routines already in place. I understand that every dog is different, so I adapt my approach to suit their personality and needs, whether they're energetic and playful or prefer a calmer environment. Dogs in my care receive regular walks, playtime, mental stimulation, and lots of companionship. As I am home most of the time, they won't be left alone for extended periods and can enjoy consistent supervision and interaction. I also provide regular photo and video updates so owners can see how their pet is getting on and have peace of mind while they're away. My goal is to give every dog a safe, happy, home-away-from-home experience and care for them as if they were my own.

About: I love animals, and they seem to love me too. As my children have grown and become more independent, I've been able to spend more time with dogs -walking and caring for family and neighbours' dogs, many of them larger breeds. What I enjoy most is getting to know each dog as an individual. Every dog has its own personality, preferences and way of communicating, and I naturally adapt my approach to suit them. Whether your dog enjoys energetic adventures through woods and parks, playful games, or a slower, gentler walk with plenty of reassurance, I'm happy to meet them where they are. I'm an active person who loves being outdoors, especially in nature around Blackford Hill and the Grange, so long walks are something I genuinely enjoy rather than a chore. I'm reliable, calm and attentive, and I understand that trusting someone with your dog is a big decision. My aim is to build lasting relationships with a small number of local dogs and their owners, giving each dog the time, consistency and care they deserve. I'm also planning to undertake training in working with young dogs in the near future to continue building my knowledge and skills. I'm currently building my advisory business, so have good flexibility to walk your dog or look after it when you need it. I typically walk in the mornings 8-9am and can rake your dog - or walk during the day as well. My early evenings are a bit busier. I live in a spacious lower villa with two unfenced gardens in a quiet crescent in the Grange near the cricket field. I am 10 walking minutes from Blackford and braids nature reserve and 10 min from Grange or Ainslie hospital grounds. I have an MPV car that allows me to transport your dog, even if it's bigger. I have a cat that grew up with dogs in her earlier life and will just hide when another pet is around. I am well integrated in my neighbourhood which is very safe and with little traffic.

“Thankyou Michaela and Keryn for taking such good care of Ruby. She has obviously had a great time and is very settled coming back home. I will definitely feel happy leaving her in your care again”

“Avril was extremely attentive and quick to respond. She also sent a lot of photos and it seemed like Ozzy had a lot of fun. I would certainly recommend Avril to another pet owner!”

“Cookie absolutely loved staying with Rachael. In fact I don’t think she wanted to leave! Cookie settled in with Rachael very quickly and was soon playing and snoozing and just having the best time. Rachael sent us updates and photos and we felt very comfortable that Cookie was having a great time in safe hands. Would have no hesitation in booking Cookie in with Rachael again and also recommending her to anyone.”

“Velveth looked after Milo for the first time this July for 3 days and nights. My mind was set at ease with an easily organised meet and greet and Milo was able to sniff around her flat. Velveth sent many written and photo updates over the time she had him which was really appreciated. I was very pleased to see and hear how my shy guy got comfortable and even playful with her over such a short period of time. Would recommend and book again. Thanks Velveth!”

“Thanks again for having Miss Tilly for the weekend. She looks like she had a great time and we got all the story when we got in. We highly recommend Gillian as a wonderful dog minder xxx”

About: I have grown up with 4 Great Danes in my family household over the years, so I am very comfortable looking after larger breeds as well as smaller breeds. I have always been extremely fond of dogs and very much consider them part of the family! Alongside my own experience with family dogs, I also regularly looked after friend’s dogs, helping with walks, feeding, playtime, and maintaining their normal routines while my friends are away. Whether that be the dog staying with me or me staying at my friend’s house with the dog. I genuinely get nothing but pleasure looking after dogs - they bring so much love and joy and make the world a better place! I work from home, with very flexible hours and thus can work from anywhere and able to take dogs out for a walk throughout the day etc. I live in a block of flats but am on the ground floor next to the back exit of which have access to a shared garden.

About: I grew up in Rome with a Greyhound, which sparked my lifelong love of dogs. Since I was 12 years old, I have been caring for dogs and have looked after the pets of family members and friends on many occasions. This experience has given me confidence in caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities. I understand that every dog has unique needs and always make sure they feel safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for. Pet care fits well into my weekly routine because I work part-time, which gives me the flexibility to provide dogs with plenty of time, attention, and companionship. I can easily adapt to their usual schedule, including walks, feeding times, playtime, and rest. I live in a clean, comfortable, and pet-friendly apartment just a five-minute walk from Pilrig Park, which is perfect for regular walks and exercise. I make sure dogs have a safe, calm, and loving environment where they can relax and feel at home. I always follow each owner's instructions regarding feeding, walks, medication (if required), and daily routines to ensure their dog receives the best possible care. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can have peace of mind while they are away.

“Vaida was amazing! I have a very shy rescue and she so patient and understanding, both with him and me, (being anxious to leave him with someone new). I have picked up a happy and relaxed pup, will definitely book Vaida again”

“Can't thank Chloe and Andy enough! River and Scout stayed with them for 4 nights and had the best time. Chloe sent us so many photos of the pups enjoying themselves, with regular updates on how they were getting on. They had trips to the beach and up to the Pentlands, and it was a big relief for us knowing they were looked after with so much love and care. Couldn't recommend them enough! Thanks again 💛”

“Absolutely amazing! Calum and their partner provided a really welcoming place for Floyd. They were able to get him calmed down for bedtime in a new place - which isn’t easy! He was well exercised and came back to us very happy and content :)”

“Matilda was amazing and kept us updated on how Lola was doing. We could see that Lola really enjoyed spending time with her. She also had the chance to make a few friends. We highly recommend Matilda to everyone!”

“Willow had a fantastic week staying with Anna. Lots of fun and adventure. Anna was very easy to coordinate with and was kind enough to help with a last minute booking. She sent lots of photos and videos throughout the week to keep us updated. Thanks Anna!”

“I've just picked my dog up from Mathew after her 5 night stay. It was my first time using Matthew and I totally would again. He was really patient with all my questions before booking. Communication was great while I was away, pictures, funny stories and even a video. All of this meant I didn't worry at all. I would absolutely recommend Matthew and his gorgeous wee dog to anyone. Thank you Matthew and Hiccup!!”

“I don’t really know how to adequately explain how grateful we are for Kamal. We did an overnight and a weekend in preparation for just over a week away for our needy border terrier. By the second time she visited him she was dragging us towards his flat. She LOVES him. The amount of contact and photos and videos was absolutely amazing and to be away with family and never even think about how she was doing because we knew she was in good hands was invaluable. We will be keeping in touch with Kamal for as long as he’s willing. Cannot recommend him enough.”

Anna was absolutely lovely! She is so conscientious and caring and well prepared. She had everything needed to look after my highly strung, wee bit anxious spaniel. She was patient, communicative and warm. I felt very reassured knowing she was looking after him despite both him and I having anxiety (lol). I would highly recommend her if you are looking for someone to watch your furry family member. Harris loved her straight away - always a good sign! Thank you Anna x

My Saayeh isn't really a troublemaker, but it does sometimes take him a little while to settle and feel comfortable in a new environment, and Louise was super patient with him, giving him all the time and space he needed to feel safe. By the end of our week-long holiday Saayeh loved lounging around Louise's place and didn't want to go back home with us (I'm just a little heartbroken 🥲). Louise was also very accommodating to my request for many many pictures every day! Overall great experience! 😊
Dolly is an amazing pet sitter! Monty became slightly unwell before our holiday and needed to take his meds twice daily, there was no problem with meds administration. Dolly sent us pictures and updated us how Monty is doing but it was not overwhelming. It seems like Monty has little bit of holiday on his own having long walks in the park, going in different adventures, playing with his favourite ball.

We left Mylo with Eva for ten days whilst we were away on holiday. He had such a great time with her and was clearly very happy and besotted with her when we picked him up. Eva was brilliant at keeping in touch with us too and sharing photos and videos. She made me and Mylo feel instantly at ease and took him into her home having only met us once. We will definitely be using Eva again and I’m sure her and mylo will become great pals! Would not hesistate to recommend!

Beatriz was friendly, reassuring, and super communicative! I felt totally calm having her look after my pup. I know Harris had the absolute best time and already adores her. She even offered to bring him back after I started feeling unwell during the day and couldn’t pick him up. I would definitely recommend using her to anyone, she’s absolutely lovely!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
