About: I'm a freelance writer based in Leith, Edinburgh, and I'm at home most days, so your dog will have plenty of company, attention, and care throughout the day. I love having dogs around, and they're the perfect excuse to take a break from my desk for walks, playtime, and fresh air. I've had dogs since I was 16 and believe they're family members who deserve the same love, patience, and attention as anyone else. I have experience caring for senior dogs with additional needs, including our family dog, Layka (mini pinscher), during her diabetic years when she lost much of her eyesight. I've also helped care for my brother's puppy Kira (Labrador), while she was recovering from hip dysplasia surgery, giving me experience with post-operative care and following recovery routines. Living in Leith means easy access to great parks and walking routes, and I'm happy to adapt to your dog's usual routine and needs. Whether your dog loves long walks, lots of cuddles, or simply having a calm companion nearby, I'll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after. I'm always happy to provide regular updates and photos, so you can relax knowing your dog is in caring hands! :) I'm currently working from home most of the days, so I will be able to play and walk your dog - and I'll love the excuse to stretch my legs! I can care for your dog and pay attention to their needs. I live in an area surrounded by parks, which is perfect for playtime and walks. At home, I will respect their space and make sure they get cuddles (if they want) and that they are comfy and fed :)
“Amy looked after our little Ollie for a couple of weeks, and we'd definitely have her dog sit again! She made us feel really comfortable and did a great job looking after him, especially as he has some specific dietary issues and has been recovering from an injury so he needed extra attention. She shared lots of updates and pictures which always helps too!”

“Avril was extremely attentive and quick to respond. She also sent a lot of photos and it seemed like Ozzy had a lot of fun. I would certainly recommend Avril to another pet owner!”

“I highly recommend Kasia and Dominic! They were so lovely and caring with Lumi while I had to travel for a few weeks. Lumi instantly felt at home with them and in their home space, they took her on lots of trips to the park and beach, and sent regular and thoughtful updates (with such great photos!) I will definitely reach out to them to care for Lumi again. I know she already misses them :) Thanks Kasia and Dominic!”

“Cookie loved her time with Chloe. It was the longest we’ve left her with someone and we got lots of updates and photos of Cookie looking very happy and contented. We would have no hesitation in recommending Chloe to anyone wanting to leave their dog with her.”

“Michaela and Keryn looked after Nara for 4 nights while we were on holiday. They were great at keeping in contact with me, providing updates on how Nara was getting on and sending lovely pictures. They were really brilliant with Nara, they took her out to the park multiple times for a run around with her toy stick and kept her cool during the unexpected heat wave. They both have lots of experience caring for dogs and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a superb dog sitter. Nara will be very excited to see them again soon!”

“Clara looked after my dog Chispa very well. Chispa is a rescue dog and can become anxious when left alone. Clara sent photos of Chispa at home and out for a walk where she looked very happy.”

About: I’ve grown up around animals my whole life. I had a cat from a young age, and my grandparents lived next door with dogs, so caring for pets has always been a natural part of my life. With flexible working hours, I can easily fit around your pet’s routine — whether that’s long walks (which I genuinely love), playtime, cuddles, or simply keeping them company. I’d love to have a dog or cat of my own, but as I travel fairly often, pet sitting is the perfect balance. I’ve provided in-home care for both dogs and cats, including caring for my friends’ pets. I always make sure every pet feels safe, relaxed and loved, whether they prefer quiet companionship or lots of affection 🐾🍂 I work from home Monday to Friday, which allows me to easily adjust my schedule to suit your pet’s needs — whether that’s a midday walk, feeding, playtime, or simply keeping them company. I enjoy longer walks in the evenings and at weekends. With a flexible routine, I can make sure your pet always receives the care, attention, and companionship they need. My day usually starts with a coffee and a walk to Meadows Park, just next to my flat. I often head out for a shorter midday stroll, and after work I enjoy a longer walk to unwind. Throughout the day, there’s always time for play, cuddles, and keeping your pet company. I’m more than happy to follow your pet’s usual routine, even if it’s different from mine. I have plenty of experience with ball throwing, wand toys, and finding the right balance between play and rest to keep pets happy and relaxed.
“Jessica was absolutely lovely and very reliable. I could relax with peace of mind and got plenty of updates. Roxy has a heart condition so it isn’t easy to leave her with anyone but it felt safe to leave her with Jessica and everything that was advised regards Roxy and her routine was taken on board. We hope to be able to use Jessica for dog boarding again. :)”

About: Hi! I'm a lifelong dog lover with over 15 years of experience caring for dogs. I got my first dog when I was 11 years old and was actively involved in their daily care, including walks, feeding, playtime, training, and companionship. I currently have a 10-month-old puppy, so I'm very familiar with the energy, patience, and consistency that young dogs need. I also have experience pet sitting for friends, including overnight stays, daily walks, feeding routines, and providing plenty of attention while owners are away. I live in the city centre of Edinburgh, near the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links, making me a great option for both local owners and visitors. Whether you're heading away on holiday, exploring the city for the day, attending an event, or simply need some time for yourself, I'd be happy to care for your dog and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after. I specialise in puppies and small to medium-sized dogs and have experience caring for dogs with a variety of personalities, from shy and nervous dogs who need a calm approach to energetic pups who love plenty of exercise and play. I always aim to follow each owner's routine, preferences, and training methods as closely as possible to help dogs feel comfortable and secure while in my care. I'm comfortable administering basic medications when required and can adapt to your dog's individual needs. I know the local area well and have access to plenty of great walking routes and parks, providing lots of opportunities for exercise, enrichment, and fun. My home is a safe, puppy-proofed environment where your pet will receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision. I also understand how important it is for owners to stay connected while they're away, so I'm happy to provide regular photo and video updates for complete peace of mind. As I currently have full availability, I can be flexible with bookings and accommodate a wide range of schedules. My goal is to provide every dog with a home-away-from-home experience and care for them as if they were my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. As I'm currently taking a break from work, I have a very flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to the dogs in my care. My own 10-month-old puppy already keeps me active with regular walks, playtime, training, and enrichment activities throughout the day. This flexibility allows me to adapt to each dog's individual needs, whether that's multiple walks, maintaining a specific routine, providing companionship throughout the day, or accommodating early drop-offs and later pick-ups. I enjoy spending time with dogs and can ensure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and care rather than being left alone for long periods. When caring for pets in my home, I aim to make them feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. I provide a safe, dog-friendly environment where they can settle in, play, rest, and receive plenty of attention throughout the day. I follow each owner's instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, exercise requirements, medication needs, house rules, and any training routines already in place. I understand that every dog is different, so I adapt my approach to suit their personality and needs, whether they're energetic and playful or prefer a calmer environment. Dogs in my care receive regular walks, playtime, mental stimulation, and lots of companionship. As I am home most of the time, they won't be left alone for extended periods and can enjoy consistent supervision and interaction. I also provide regular photo and video updates so owners can see how their pet is getting on and have peace of mind while they're away. My goal is to give every dog a safe, happy, home-away-from-home experience and care for them as if they were my own.
“Prema is patient, and incredibly kind sitter. Ozzy had a really hard time settling down and showed some tough separation anxiety, but prema handled it calmly and professionally. She communicated with us the entire time. I am very thankful for how hard she tried to comfort him and highly recommend her services!"”

Bella stayed with Sian for a couple of days whilst we were on holiday. She went on lots of lovely walks and Sian was great with communication and sending photos. Sian was also very flexible with the pick-up and collection arrangements. Bella came home a tired and happy dog. Would definitely use Sian again.

Meadow had a great time with Deborah and family. Deborah was so helpful and professional and communicated throughout stay with photos and updates. Lots of visits to the beach and walks kept our fluffy friend very happy. Highly recommend Deborah and I will definitely be booking again.

Laura and Rob were absolutely wonderful with our little guy Moosie. They were kind, patient and attentive. They also took extra care with Moose’s Bee Allergy and made sure to keep him stimulated with walks. They are great with communication and kept us up to date with loads of photos and messages. We’ll definitely send Moosie to them again! Highly recommend ✨

Matthew was great with Marty. We know he can be a bit barky with new people and situations, but Matthew was unphased and knew how to keep him calm. From the photos it looked like Marty made himself very much at home and he was a happy boy when I collected him in the morning.

Sammie & Daniel took fantastic care of our Bella while we were away for 10 days. We came home to a very happy dog who was clearly very relaxed with them. We really appreciated the updates and communication was excellent. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for first rate pet care. Thanks again!

Couldn't recommend Elzbieta more! Communication was wonderful, received regular updates and photos which was amazing! Both my girls had a blast spending the past four days with her, new walk locations each day and lots of attention and love & incredibly accommodating with any requests I had! Will definitely be using Elzbeita’s services next time! Thank you so much again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
