She also went above and beyond, washing/grooming Daphne and bring her to our wedding to be our ring bearer before taking her away again. We will most definitely use Elizabeth again!”

“From start to finish a phenomenal experience! Initially this placement was chosen given it’s proximity to my brothers house however this turned out to be an excellent move! Judit and family were beyond helpful, kind, considerate and kept us fully up to date with lots of lovely and reassuring pics/videos. We were welcomed into their home pre weekend stay so that Hemingway could get used to the space, they took this time to get to know him and chatted away in a friendly and warm manner. Hems was definitely treated as part of the family! I cannot recommend this wonderful family highly enough to other prospective doggy parents.”

About: I’ve grown up with cats and dogs and now I am a lucky dog mom to a wee dachshund. He is super friendly and always needs company so having another pet over would be great for both of us! I currently work full time but open up my calendar on my days off :) Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Whether your pet is staying over for a daycare or boarding, I treat them just like my own. I will do my best to implement any requests to make sure your dog feels welcomed and comfortable. My partner and I (and our dachshund Corny) love to stay active and go on long walks to the locals parks in Edinburgh or taking day trips to the neighbouring coastal towns. I am slowly transitioning into working hybrid so will be spending more time at home soon :) We live in a flat, which is located in a nice area with lots of parks nearby (e.g. Montgomery, Leith Links). There is lots of greenery near the flat as well.
About: I'm a freelance writer based in Leith, Edinburgh, and I'm at home most days, so your dog will have plenty of company, attention, and care throughout the day. I love having dogs around, and they're the perfect excuse to take a break from my desk for walks, playtime, and fresh air. I've had dogs since I was 16 and believe they're family members who deserve the same love, patience, and attention as anyone else. I have experience caring for senior dogs with additional needs, including our family dog, Layka (mini pinscher), during her diabetic years when she lost much of her eyesight. I've also helped care for my brother's puppy Kira (Labrador), while she was recovering from hip dysplasia surgery, giving me experience with post-operative care and following recovery routines. Living in Leith means easy access to great parks and walking routes, and I'm happy to adapt to your dog's usual routine and needs. Whether your dog loves long walks, lots of cuddles, or simply having a calm companion nearby, I'll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after. I'm always happy to provide regular updates and photos, so you can relax knowing your dog is in caring hands! :) I'm currently working from home most of the days, so I will be able to play and walk your dog - and I'll love the excuse to stretch my legs! I can care for your dog and pay attention to their needs. I live in an area surrounded by parks, which is perfect for playtime and walks. At home, I will respect their space and make sure they get cuddles (if they want) and that they are comfy and fed :)

Bella stayed with Sian for a couple of days whilst we were on holiday. She went on lots of lovely walks and Sian was great with communication and sending photos. Sian was also very flexible with the pick-up and collection arrangements. Bella came home a tired and happy dog. Would definitely use Sian again.

Meadow had a great time with Deborah and family. Deborah was so helpful and professional and communicated throughout stay with photos and updates. Lots of visits to the beach and walks kept our fluffy friend very happy. Highly recommend Deborah and I will definitely be booking again.

Laura and Rob were absolutely wonderful with our little guy Moosie. They were kind, patient and attentive. They also took extra care with Moose’s Bee Allergy and made sure to keep him stimulated with walks. They are great with communication and kept us up to date with loads of photos and messages. We’ll definitely send Moosie to them again! Highly recommend ✨

Matthew was great with Marty. We know he can be a bit barky with new people and situations, but Matthew was unphased and knew how to keep him calm. From the photos it looked like Marty made himself very much at home and he was a happy boy when I collected him in the morning.

Sammie & Daniel took fantastic care of our Bella while we were away for 10 days. We came home to a very happy dog who was clearly very relaxed with them. We really appreciated the updates and communication was excellent. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for first rate pet care. Thanks again!

Prema is patient, and incredibly kind sitter. Ozzy had a really hard time settling down and showed some tough separation anxiety, but prema handled it calmly and professionally. She communicated with us the entire time. I am very thankful for how hard she tried to comfort him and highly recommend her services!"

Couldn't recommend Elzbieta more! Communication was wonderful, received regular updates and photos which was amazing! Both my girls had a blast spending the past four days with her, new walk locations each day and lots of attention and love & incredibly accommodating with any requests I had! Will definitely be using Elzbeita’s services next time! Thank you so much again!

As of June 2026, there are 993 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Edinburgh. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
