“I can not thank Barry enough for looking after my German Shepherd over the weekend for me. It was my first time leaving him and he made me feel so at ease. He sent lots of pictures and messages while I was away and Mase definitely had the best time. I will definitely be getting him to look after Mase in the future.”

“Harris and Maria are superb. Wee willow loved her time with them. I dont think she wanted to come home. They have molly a beautiful doggy girl who willow really enjoyed spending time with. We received daily updates, pictures and videos of willows time. Willow also requires daily medication which wasn’t a problem for them. We will defo be booking her in again. We can’t thank you enough”

“Another great stay with Ali and the gang. Our boy Blue used to be really anxious being left with anyone other than family. Now he's so happy to go to Ali's, even mentioning her name he gets so excited. This time it was just a 1 night / 2 day stay, along with his new little brother Cooper. This was coopers first time away from home without us. We were keen to hear how he was getting on. Ali kept us updated with plenty of videos and pictures and we are happy to say that he got on great! You could tell her was loving every moment, especially having some new friends to play with. We are so lucky to have found the right home away home ❤️”

“Our cockapoo Tina 3 yrs old first time ever been away from home so happy she had an amazing stay with Arleta. Don't think she wanted to leave her when Arleta brought Tina home .You just knew how much of a bond she had with Arleta. Tina's diet was also taken care off (she's got specific meats for her meals ) regular updates & pics .Definitely booking again especially now the bond they have created after all my worries & concerns I can't thank Arleta enough she's really good a what she does. 100%”

“Hope and her husband welcomed my puppy into their home and treated her like one of their own. They provided me with updates via messages and pictures. I’m sure my Nala was sad to leave when I came to collect her. I wouldn’t hesitate to use again and would highly recommend using their services if they’re available.”

“We left our collie with Lizzie for 1 overnight stay. She is lovely, easy going & responds to messages quickly. Archie was well looked after & we received lots of photos during his stay. Would highly recommend her & we will certainly be rebooking.”

“Maya was well looked after by Rhona . I was sent pictures of Maya out at play and sleeping happily alongside their own dog and on their laps. It was obvious that Maya was made welcome and cared for in a family home. I would recommend Rhona to others.”

“We were delighted that Debbie looked after Brodie so well. He was obviously very settled on our return and had certainly made himself at home! Debbie’s family were also very involved in looking after him. She was happy to send messages and photos while we were away. Should we need home boarding again we would love Debbie to take such good care of him again”

“I would highly recommend Lenka. My dog Aran was so happy staying with Lenka and her family. I really appreciated the regular updates and photos. I will definitely ask Lenka to look after my dog again.”

“First time our dog Bella has stayed with Daniela and she was absolutely excellent. Daniela and her family were welcoming and Bella settled right in, even tried going back into their house with Daniela when we picked her up. Sends updates and photos during the stay which is great and Bella was settled and tired after her stay. Already got another booking made, she was fabulous”

“Another great stay at Nicola and Kayleigh's home. Daisy didn't want to come back. She seemed so happy in the picture and when I collected her back. They were also very accommodating and reactive. Daisy is looking forward to staying again!”

“It was our dogs first time away from us and he stayed with Kassandra for the weekend. He totally loved it and was so happy when we picked him up, not to see us because of his stay. I think he really enjoyed Kassandra, Keira and Mr Poes company and all the nice walks. We were quite worried about Baxter not settling in or being badly behaved but Kassandra put us at ease. Kassandra is very knowledgeable and professional and she has an excellent manner with dogs. We were sent regular updates and pictures of Baxter having fun on his walks and he seems to have taken a real shine to Kassandra. Kassandra will be our first choice for any dog sitting, walking or boarding requirements from now on.”

“Diane was excellent with Ted, she gave us lots of updates about Ted to let us no how he was and Ted seamed really happy with here she treated him like one of her own, would highly recommend Diane”

“Fiona is a complete animal person and looked after Beau like he was her own - what more could we ask for. She sent us lots of updates to reassure us he has settled in and was enjoying himself. Fiona happily accommodated his raw food and ample freezer space to store his entire stay. He was made to feel at home with special treats and being able to snuggle up on the sofa. The property is a dream come true for humans, never mind their best friends and we think Beau was reluctant to return to his usual city living. He’s already provisionally booked back in, we just hope Fiona has space for when he returns for a dip in the burn and a suntan on the porch beanbag.”

About: I am a corporate professional working remotely from my home in Balerno, where I live with my co-host, Spencer: a gentle and incredibly friendly Black Labrador. Spencer loves making new friends, so your pet will enjoy loving human companionship, built-in canine socialization, and direct supervision in a calm environment. I offer a premium home-boarding experience right on the edge of the countryside. If you are looking for a loving alternative to traditional kennels where your dog can play, walk, and sleep alongside a sweet resident Lab, this is the perfect home-away-from-home. I have had family dogs since childhood and am therefore very experienced with training and caring for dogs of all ages and varying breeds. My (very chilled!) 10-year-old son has also grown up around dogs and he loves their company as much as I do. I am delighted to be able to offer a welcoming and comfortable environment where you can be assured that your dog will be very well cared for as a member of the family 🥰 Our location is a spectacular playground for dogs. I regularly step away from my desk to take my Labrador and our guest dogs on incredible walks tailored to their energy levels: The Pentland Hills: Energetic trail walks and hill hikes right on our doorstep. The Water of Leith: Tranquil, shaded riverside strolls perfect for peaceful sniffing and exploring. Tailored Outings: Whether your dog craves a high-energy pack run with my Lab or a separate, slower wander, their exercise routine is customized completely to their personality. My Labrador is fantastic with other dogs of all sizes, making it incredibly easy for guest pets to settle in and feel secure. To ensure total harmony, I always host a mandatory meet-and-greet beforehand to make sure our dogs get along perfectly. Our home is smoke-free, exceptionally clean, and highly secure. I prioritize safety, comfort, and a premium experience for every guest. Large Secure Garden: A spacious, fully enclosed, and escape-proof garden perfect for safe zoomies and playtime with Spencer. Complete Freedom: Your dog enjoys full, unrestricted access to the warm living spaces of our main family home. No cages, no outdoor runs, and absolutely no kennel stress. Home Comforts: From cozy naps to designated sofa cuddles in the evening, your dog will be treated like a cherished member of our own family.

“Bear loved his stay with Zena. We had the chance to meet before his stay and Zena sent regular photos of Bear enjoying himself out walking/at the beach/cooling off in a paddling pool/resting on his bed in her house. Zena really gave me the confidence that Bear was in good hands so we could relax and enjoy our holidays. I would definitely use her again.”

“My dog had a wonderful week at Madeleine's. She provided regular updates with photos and replied to messages quickly. Hazel will definitely be back next time we need a sitter :)”

We couldn't have asked for better dog sitters than Harris and Maria and Molly :) They took exceptional care of Geko and treated him as if he were their own. Throughout his stay, they kept us updated with regular messages, photos, and videos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. They were always very informative about how Geko was doing, what he had been up to, and any little changes they noticed. It was clear they genuinely cared about his wellbeing and made sure he was happy, comfortable, and well looked after at all times. We are incredibly grateful for the love, care, and attention they gave Geko. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Harris and Maria to anyone looking for trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitters. Thank you both so much—we will definitely be booking with you again!

Summer and Liam were excellent dog sitters for Zeko. This was our first time using Rover and we were a little nervous. They met us at their lovely home for an intro prior to the sit and discussed Zeko and our expectations. We met one of their wee dogs who was a joy. We required for our dog to be picked up and dropped off locally which wasnt an issue. We created a private WhatsApp group for communication and whilst away we received photos of walks and clearly a very relaxed and happy dog. We will be using Summer and Liam in the future and would highly recommend them. A relief to find lovely, reliable and trustworthy sitters. 🐱

Sarah took in my pup on very short notice, I was welcomed in to meet her and her own dog and made to feel very comfortable before leaving. I got several pictures and videos throughout the days and Bruce seemed to come back very happy. Would recommend and use again.

Charlie was looked after for the 1st time by Kathryn . I was given regular updates and also sent regular photos which gave us reassurance . We had met up with Kathryn on 2 occasions with charlie prior to her looking after him which also made us feel reassured that he would be well cared for . I highly recommend Kathryn and would not hesitate to rebook

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
