Sakshi has looked after Alfie twice now and we’ve got to say he’s a very happy dog when he’s round at her place! All of the communication and organising went like clockwork and we would always be happy for her to be looking after our - not the easiest dog in the world! - Patterdale Terrier. Super highly recommended 😊

From start to finish, Claire was brilliant. So warm and caring with our wee old man French Bulldog, Frank, and he had an absolute ball. Her home is lovely and welcoming, and she and her wee daughter were great with him, he settled in straight away. Claire kept in touch while we were away, sending photos and videos, which really put our minds at ease. Frank barely wanted to come home. If you’re looking for someone genuinely caring to look after your pup, Claire’s your girl. Couldn’t recommend her enough.

About: I grew up with a gorgeous wee border terrier named Roxy, who lived until she was 16. There’s since been a doggy-shaped hole in my life, but I’m unable to have my own pup at the moment. As a student, Rover is a great way for me to spend my free time looking after doggos and make some extra cash as I go. ☺️ I love caring for all types of breeds, and I have experience with lots of different temperaments as well as rescue pups. Please drop me a message if you have any questions at all! 🐾 As I’m in the final year of my PhD, I usually work from home and can provide pretty much constant company for dogs staying with me. I’m also very flexible for walks throughout weekdays and weekends. I have a dog-friendly flat + I’m happy to have the dogs I look after be snuggled up on the sofa, beds, etc. I also have a fenced garden they can play in if we aren’t out walking or at the park! I can make any adjustments for your dog as needed.

About: I am a dog lover and have had a furry friend for the past 25 years. I have a small cockapoo dog called Bessie who is 6 years old. I have looked after my family and friends dogs on many occasions. I welcome dogs into my home and they are allowed to roam and make my house their home during their stay. I work from home 2 days per week. I am comfortable caring for different breeds and personalities and I am confident with walks, feeding, routines, playtime and making sure your dog feels safe, comfortable and well cared for while in my company. I work from home 2 days per week and can provide dog sitting on those days. I work short hours the rest of the week. I have a small cockapoo dog who can provide company to your furry baby. I schedule my plans around the routine you provide me with so your fur baby feels comfortable and safe whilst in my care. I always ensure there is time for walking and playing. I have a fenced secure back garden which your fur baby will have full access to whilst in my care. Your dog will have access to most rooms in my house and is allowed on the sofas if this is ok with you.

About: These days my own schedule is busy, so I’m not looking to take on a full time dog of my own right now but I’d love to offer that same care to other people’s pets on a flexible, as needed basis. Whether it’s a drop in visit, a bit of company during the day, or an occasional overnight stay, I treat every animal like they’re my own: plenty of attention, patience, and a calm environment. I’m reliable, communicative (expect photo updates!), and happy to work around your schedule and your pet’s specific needs - feeding times, medication, walk routines, whatever keeps them settled. A few things worth mentioning: • Comfortable with dogs of most sizes and temperaments • Live in a flat with my partner - happy to host visits or provide updates from your home • Flexible availability that fits around occasional bookings rather than daily commitments Looking forward to meeting your furry friend! I currently work in an office around 50% of the month, and my days are flexible rather than fixed, so I can often adjust my schedule around a pet’s needs. On my days off or lighter weeks, I have plenty of time for walks, playtime, and company. I’m also happy to plan bookings in advance around my known office days so there are no surprises. I live in a flat with my partner, so pets get a calm, comfortable indoor environment with lots of attention rather than a big garden. I’ve had dogs of my own in the past, so I understand routines, feeding schedules, and how to keep animals settled in a new space. I’m attentive, patient, and happy to follow any specific instructions you give me.

James was great; responsive to a meet up before we left just to ensure dogs got on etc., and kept us updated with photos while we were away. Pablo clearly felt at home, and was returned healthy and happy - we’re so pleased to have met someone we’d be happy to leave him with again. Thanks to both James and his partner for looking after him so well.

About: I've had a small dog growing up and have been dogsitting for friends and neighbours for years, including stepping in at the last minute to help out. I have a special soft spot for the sensitive souls; I’ve found that even the most anxious dogs tend to warm up to me. Being Austrian, long walks are in my DNA! When we aren't out exploring, my flat is a place of total relaxation. I’m more than happy to share my space (and my sofa!) for snuggles. I partly work from home, and when I do, I’m there the entire day. This means your pup won't be lonely; they’ll have my company while I work, with plenty of breaks for play time, walkies, and snuggles. On my days off, I love taking even longer walks, so your dog will get all the exercise and fresh air they need. My flat is a safe, cozy space where dogs are welcome to snuggle on the sofa and truly relax. I have a doggy play pen outside my door and lots of nice routes for walks. Whether they want to be my 'paw-ffice assistant' by my feet while I work or join me for a long trek, I adapt my day to their energy level.

Jacques was truly amazing. From first contact, he was so responsive and friendly. He looked after our 1 year old slightly timid lab in his lovely home. She had a fantastic time with lots of walks and playtime. It was clear just how much Jacques loves dogs and wants to ensure they are cared for, properly exercised and stimulated. He has a lovely soft Alsatian who I think our dog became quite close to. Frequent updates with photos and videos. Our family was so reassured during our 2 week holiday. Thoroughly endorse Jacques for anyone looking to use his services and would not hesitate to use again. Thank you!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
