“Bowser was really well cared for during his overnight stay. I was kept updated throughout the sta6rt, so I felt really reassured that bowser was doing well and having a great time Orla and Aine will be my first port of call next time I need him looked after”

“This was over first time using Rover and it was a much better alternative than using kennels. Elizabeth is so lovely and friendly and gave us total piece of mind that our wee Marshall was being properly looked after. She gave us regular updates which we appreciated. We wouldn't hesistate to use Elizabeth again or recommend her. Thank you so much Elizabeth!”

“This was the first time we used this site and I was a bit apprehensive. We met with Iona prior to our Max’s stay with her. She instantly made us feel at ease and I was confident that he would be well looked after. Iona sent pictures and videos to keep us updated. I would not hesitate in asking her to look after our little Max again 😊”

“Highly recommend mark & Sandra. Matilda stayed 4 nights and mark kindly kept me posted of her stay. Even sharing a wee video. Lovely couple and I felt at ease leaving my wee frenchie. Thank you & I will certainly use them in future. Liz”

About: Dogs are my life I just couldn’t be with out one that’s why I have 3 (only small and well behaved) take a look at my profile to see what to expect when you board your loved Dog with me I work part time as Cabin Crew (I don’t take any dogs when working) so I have many days free to care for your pets I spend most of those days at home only popping out to the local shops etc. I have had dogs as pets all my adult life, I have Riley (miniature poodle) Simon (chihuahua) and Toots (miniature poodle x chihuahua) I’m confident I caring for and walking any breeds and my dogs are very well trained and socialised with other dogs. I have a large enclosed garden that’s very dog friendly.
“Shivani cared for Carbon as if he were her own, and I truly couldn’t have asked for more. She kept me constantly reassured with regular photos and videos, which meant so much, especially as he’s still only four months old. It’s not easy looking after a young puppy with endless energy and curiosity, but she was incredibly patient, calm and understanding throughout. She handled all his playful mischief with kindness and good humour, and even went out of her way to buy him treats. It’s clear she genuinely loves animals and invests real time and attention into their care. I came back to a happy, confident little pup, and that says everything. I would wholeheartedly trust her with Carbon again. Thank you Shivani.🙏💖🌸”

“Paula was very accommodating, accepting my booking quite last minute (few days before) and was flexible about pick up and drop off times. She came to pick up Beau with her dog so they got to meet and continued to send me picture updates while I was away. Beau was crying after he got dropped off which is always a good sign he had a good time/ became attached. Will definitely use Paula again for short term dog sitting!”

“Skye had a fantastic time with Milena and was very well looked after. She can be quite timid at times and Milena took her time to let Skye get to know her and the area without pushing her too soon. She was very patient with her and let her settle in. I wouldn't hesitate to leave Skye with Milena again - in fact, I'm about to go and check her availability for a weekend in a few weeks.”

“Sara was a wonderful host for my dog Frisa for a few days while I visited Glasgow for a hospital procedure. Sara had a strong intuitive grasp of Frisa's needs and wants. Sara's descriptions and photos sent to me during Frisa's time with Sara matched my own experiences of Frisa's behaviour when engaged and contented. Frisa is a medium sized, but strong, dog and Sara paid careful attention to the advice that we gave her about handling Frisa on walks. I thoroughly recommend Sara.”

“From start to finish, Claire was brilliant. So warm and caring with our wee old man French Bulldog, Frank, and he had an absolute ball. Her home is lovely and welcoming, and she and her wee daughter were great with him, he settled in straight away. Claire kept in touch while we were away, sending photos and videos, which really put our minds at ease. Frank barely wanted to come home. If you’re looking for someone genuinely caring to look after your pup, Claire’s your girl. Couldn’t recommend her enough.”

About: I have taken care of animals for most of my life, whether that be my own animals or someone else’s. I currently have 3 cats and a dog. I am 20 years old and currently studying at the dundee university full time but i am looking to make some extra income over the summer while im back in glasgow to help me through my studies! I have a fenced garden and one very friendly pup who is always happy to have new friends. I am more then happy to take dogs for walks, watch them from my own home! As for cats i am more than happy to pop by to look after them! However as i have other cats I will not be able to have any other cats in my home.
“Holly took an amazing care of my pup, Belle 🥰 she truly took care of her as if she was her own, and I’m so thankful for it! I will ask Holly again to watch Belle next time I have to leave her!”

“I found Harry to be really supportive, caring and with great communication and updates about Marcy. I'd love her to sit for Marcy again and would happily recommend to anyone looking for a home-from-home for their beloved doggy 🐶”

About: I grew up with dogs and cats, and we always had three dogs at home, so caring for animals has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m a true dog lover and have always felt a special bond with dogs. Over the years, I’ve looked after dogs for friends, family and neighbours, and I take the time to understand each dog’s personality. I like to learn what makes them happy, comfortable or anxious, and tailor my care around that, whether that means longer walks, shorter gentle walks, extra attention, playtime, or simply giving them space to settle. What sets me apart is that I don’t treat every dog the same. I take the time to understand their individual needs and routine, so they feel safe, relaxed and properly cared for. I care for every dog as if they were my own, and my goal is for both you and your dog to feel completely comfortable and confident while you're apart. My routine is very flexible and will fit around your dog’s needs. I am at home throughout the day, so I can adapt to their usual schedule for walks, feeding, playtime, rest and toilet breaks, helping them feel settled and comfortable. In my home, your dog will be treated like part of the family. I have a secure fenced garden, so they will have plenty of opportunity to run around, play and get fresh air throughout the day. I will be at home all day, every day, so your dog will not be left alone while in my care. I’m also close to some fantastic parks and walking areas, including Mugdock and Garscube, so I can provide proper daily walks, hikes and outdoor time depending on your dog’s needs and energy levels. My living room is tiled and right beside the back door, which makes it easy to care for younger dogs or dogs that are still toilet training. I always aim to keep dogs comfortable, safe and relaxed, while sticking as closely as possible to their usual routine.
“Great experience for both Laika and her owners! Amy was really good with Laika and sent several photos over her short stay. We'd be happy to recommend Amy as a sitter and will certainly use her again. Thankyou Amy from us all!”

“Gavin was really helpful and organised a pre sit meet up so he could get to know Ted a little bit and asked lots of questions to make sure he knew his routine which was really reassuring. He kept in touch while I was away with pictures and Ted was happy and relaxed when I got home. :)”

“Tracey was brilliant taking our dog Jax for the week while we were away. Tracey took time to make sure any queries or requirements were understood before Jax’s stay to make him as comfortable as possible as well as making it easy for us. As well as this, kept us up to date throughout our trip to see how he was settling in. This was our first time using a sitter instead of kennels and would definitely recommend Tracey to anyone thinking of doing so as well as we will look to do so in the future! 10/10!”

“Felt very at ease leaving Max with Stephen. He gave me updates, sent photos, was more worried about him not earring than me. Will be using him again I am very happy with the care and attention Stephen gave my dog”

This was over first time using Rover and it was a much better alternative than using kennels. Elizabeth is so lovely and friendly and gave us total piece of mind that our wee Marshall was being properly looked after. She gave us regular updates which we appreciated. We wouldn't hesistate to use Elizabeth again or recommend her. Thank you so much Elizabeth!

Ioana is a total superstar. She loves animals and is really attentive to what your pet needs! I was really nervous about leaving our Yogi Bear because he doesn't always like other dogs but she was calm, attentive to how Yogi was on walks-no problems at all! She regularly sent photos and videos and kept us updated with how he was. I would absolutely recommend Ioana to anyone- a star sitter from us!

I would highly recommend roslyn and her partner..this was the first time my dog bear had been with anyone else..he’s a very energetic dog and I was abit worried incase he didn’t settle..but he was well looked after and cared for with Roslyn I had constant updates and pictures regarding how he was doing and he looked so happy with them he got plenty of walks and cuddles from them.and I’d definitely be using the both again
Holly has been fab she looked after Bella & Jax while we were on holiday! Plenty of updates to put our mind at ease and showed us how well they settled in! Communication was great and we are happy Bella & Jax had a fab time .. will be back to see you again soon Holly … Bella & Jax 💙

Gracie was with Lisa for 10 nights while we visited family in the States and she clearly loved her time there! It was great peace of mind knowing that Gracie was happy and content and very well cared for in a lovely homely environment! Lisa sent regular updates and we could see that Gracie was enjoying her time there and not missing us at all! I would highly recommend Lisa to look after your pet and would most definately use Lisa again!

Holly was fantastic looking after Seymour and I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter. She kept me updated regularly with messages and plenty of photos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. It was great to see Seymour looking so happy and relaxed, especially in the photos of him enjoying his treat puzzles and getting lots of attention. It was clear he was being very well looked after and having a great time. I came home to a happy dog and wouldn’t hesitate to book with Holly again.

Echo was very well looked after. Sophie paid a lot of attention to him, and Echo felt comfortable with her. It was clear when we picked him up that he had bonded with Sophie which made us feel reassured. We are so glad we have met Sophie and hope this is the first of many times.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
