I've been a dog parent for 8 years. I raised my Labrador from just 30 days old, walks, feeding, grooming, and nursing him through illness. When he became paralysed in his back legs, I cared for him through that too, learning patience and the kind of attentive, hands-on support dogs with mobility challenges need. He's with my parents now, and while I miss having a dog at home, that experience shaped how seriously I take care.
