“Helena looked after my little Chihuahua Poppy for a second time and again I am really pleased with how well the boarding went. Poppy is elderly and Helena and her family take great care of her and give her lots of attention, love and cuddles meaning that I can relax on holiday knowing that Poppy is very happy. Helena is such a lovely kind person and Poppy was happy to see her when I dropped her off, that says it all! I would definitely recommend Helena as a sitter and would have no hesitation in leaving Poppy with her again.”

“Alfie had a great couple of days with Kim. At first he was a little nervous and had a little toilet accident (he gets like that when nervous) but Kim called me straight away to let me know she had to bath him etc and to make sure he was ok, he settled in nicely after. Was giving plenty cuddles and kisses. I would 1000000% recommend Kim to anyone. She is so nice and gives you little updates throughout the day. Alfie had a great time. She took them to the dog park the next morning, he loves it there. Also kept him an extra night as something popped up, was at such short notice too. Thanks again, appreciate it so much ❤️”

“An amazing professional who gave our dog exceptional care. Our German shepherd fell in love with kaelan and had her best holiday ever. He truly went above and beyond with her care and could not recommend him enough! Plenty of cuddles and a homey environment which she loved and settled into quickly”

“Moya is very friendly and kind hearted. Very welcoming and friendly. Moya has looked after Bentley a few times now. Bentley instantly is settled and happy. Thank you Moya and hope your available for our next holiday x”
“Koko and Yoyo were absolutely fantastic with my two Shih Tzus. They settled in almost immediately, which really put my mind at ease. I received plenty of updates and lots of lovely photos throughout their stay, so I always knew they were happy and well cared for. The children were wonderful with the dogs too. They were so patient and respectful, giving them space to settle in and letting the dogs come to them in their own time. Once they were comfortable, they got lots of cuddles, attention, and playtime, and it was clear they were having a great time. I felt completely confident that my dogs were in safe, caring hands, and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave them with Koko’s family again. I highly recommend Koko to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter!”

“Fester had a lovely stay with Adele, she took exceptional care of him and accepted all of his special quirks and needs. As an older dog he is quite particular and she accommodated everything perfectly. Fester came home happy, bouncy and rested - we will definitely be using Adele again for Fester sitting!”

“Eccles had a great overnight stay with Audrey and came back a happy girl. Audrey was very flexible with drop off and collection times and I was kept updated throughout the stay with photos and messages. Audrey really loves dogs and this showed by the care she gave to Eccles. Highly recommend and would book Eccles again to stay with Audrey.”

“Declan has had Hugo on 2 separate occasions now and it certainly won’t be his last! Hugo has the best time and is so well looked after, Declan provides updates and photos throughout Hugo’s stay which puts our minds at ease that he’s in good hands! 😊”

“Suzanne was fantastic sending updates every day and Peggy loving the attention and getting spoiled with all the cuddles, Peggy made herself right at home and went exploring round the house testing the beds out to see which one was the comfiest, will definitely leave her with Suzanne again.”

About: I’ve been passionate about dogs for as long as I can remember and have had a few pet dogs in my life. Whilst I don’t have a dog of my own at the moment, I still want to have them in my life albeit part time. In addition to dog sitting for friends and family, I previously volunteered for a charities fostering service puppies for anything up to 6 months. I’ve also attended multiple dog training classes and first aid courses. I’m fortunate to have my own “dog proof” garden with a 6ft fence and dog friendly astro turf so the puppies can get outside rain or shine. I’m an extremely active person and love long walks as much as the puppies do! I currently work from home mon-fri although I’m mainly looking to dog sit on weekends or days off. I’m very much a hands on person when it comes to dogs with lots of play, stimulation and of course… walks! I have a fenced garden with dog friendly artificial grass which allows the dogs to come in and out rain or shine (and without mud!). I’m a very routine-based person and believe that dogs need safe and loving environment but also structure.

“This was our first time leaving our dog with anyone out with our immediate family and we’re a little nervous but Cara was excellent and Cassie seemed sad to leave! We got loads of videos and pics of the fun being had and we have now already booked for our summer holidays! Top class and couldn’t ask for anything more”

“Thanks for Krzysztof and his wife for looking after Grace, I've been receiving pictures and some videos on a daily basis. It was really reassuring knowing Grace is having lot of fun and that everything is going well!”

“Absolutely amazing again!! Fuego is so comfortable around Alex and clearly had a great time. Alex will always keep you updated and send lots of pics to make sure you know how your fur baby is getting on…. Will definitely be using Alex again and would highly recommend others use him too xx”

“Coco (also known as Yun) was really quick to answer my request to look after our post-op doggo Koda! She sent us messages every morning and every night with pictures and videos, and I felt at ease knowing he was safely able to recover with her. Definitely recommend their services, such sweet sitters and will definitely request them again!”

“Gavin was really helpful and organised a pre sit meet up so he could get to know Ted a little bit and asked lots of questions to make sure he knew his routine which was really reassuring. He kept in touch while I was away with pictures and Ted was happy and relaxed when I got home. :)”

I can't thank Zoe enough for keeping Bella while we were on holiday, she was very attentive and sent lots of lovely photos. I could tell when I picked Bella up she was very happy and content. I would highly recommend Zoe as a dog sitter and will definitely use her again in future.

Katie looked after Miso for a second time this past weekend and everything was great again. He apparently dragged my partner up the stairs to see Katie when he realised where he was! Katie sent us photos and updates, it’s great to know we have such a reliable sitter for Miso.

Wow! Could not be more grateful impressed or recommend more highly! Kim and her husband Ali took the very best care of my nervous pup and treated her to so much love attention and adventures. They took her to a specialist dog park and were playing and chasing with her going above and beyond! I made the booking with a few hours notice for an overnight stay and Kim was so kind and gracious about every step, very understanding and sent loads of updates. Roxy was spoilt with cuddles affection and attention and had the best sleepover party ever - thank you both I feel so lucky to have found you!

Alex took fantastic care of Max and Daisy, we could fully relax knowing they were in great hands. Alex went above and beyond to make our pups feel relaxed and happy during their stay with him. We would highly recommend booking with Alex. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Max and Daisy 😊

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
