“Kirsty knew how anxious I was about leaving my boy. She assured me that she would treat him like one of her own and believe me she certainly did. Sadly my boy was old with complex health issues and needed veterinary care. Kirsty was amazing and stayed with my boy throughout for which I will never forget her kindness towards my wee Teddy boy. Kirsty kept me updated daily on how my boy was, sending pictures and messages. I know my boy was well looked after and would like to thank her from the bottom of my heart for the exceptional care she gave to my boy. Sadly my boy passed and I am heartbroken but Kirsty stayed with him to the end and I will be forever thankful for that. Thanks again Kirsty for all your support xxx”

“Contacted Anne Marie for home boarding for our 10 year old lhasa apso for our recent trip. A lovely lady who was enthusiastic, caring and affectionate towards our wee dog. She kept us advised of his progress during the 2 weeks we were away, as this was the first time we had left him with someone we didn't know. When we came back he was very happy to see us and we knew that she had cared for him ever so well. I am happy to recommend Anne Marie to anyone who needs their dog looked after.”

“Cookie didn’t just have a boarder. She has an entire family who was dedicated, kind and went above and beyond to help her settle. Like a lot of German Shepherds cookie is very bonded to me her main owner, and it is difficult to leave her on first visit, but this wonderful family could not have made her more welcome. Incredible communication, pictures, updates. Could not have been more wonderful. How they recommended, wonderful people, and amazing service.”

“Orla and Aine were fantastic sitters for Luna, I can tell that she had such a good time. We met for a meet and greet before her stay so they could get a quick introduction and they made sure to follow Luna’s routine as closely as possible to make her stay comfortable for her. They asked plenty of questions to get things right for Luna and took her to her favourite places for her walks. I would definitely book with them again and recommend to anyone looking for reliable dog sitters!”

“I can’t recommend Alexandra enough. We don’t go away often and Rocky can be anxious when we leave him, but he was so well cared for while we were away that I won’t hesitate to use Alexandra again. She sent us regular updates and really cared about his well being and that we felt ok. She asked lots of questions about his care, feeding times, length of walks etc and kept his routine as much as possible. It was great coming back from holiday to a happy and well cared for boy. Thank you!”

About: I am accustomed to caring for dogs and cats and have often looked after pets for friends and family. I am passionate about animal welfare and would be pleased to offer dependable pet care services to others who need support while away from home ❤️ I am working, but happy to look after the pets who can stay at home when I am at work, also free at the weekends. Due to the size of my flat, I can only accommodate smaller dogs and cats. Larger dogs generally need more space than I can't provide comfortably. I will ensure that any pets in my care receive safe, loving, and attentive environment ❤️

“Thank you for looking after bumble Fiona, we appreciated the photos and message. We have no doubt that she was well looked after and was obviously content in you home. We will be sure you use you again (if you'll have her lol) and wouldn't hesitate in recommending you to others”

“Very pleased with how well Bear was looked after. Kwai and his family treated him very well. I got lots of updates and photos and Bear got lots of walks so was very happy. Thank you”

“Janou did an amazing job looking after our dog. Rocco had a great time staying with Janou, who gave us updates on how Rocco was doing and we felt at ease knowing that our dog was well looked after. Would recommend and thank you Janou!”

“This was our 2nd time using Dane and he was excellent, as expected. Communication was good and Gordon was very happy to see Dane when we dropped her off. Will continue to use him in the future.”

“From start to finish, Claire was brilliant. So warm and caring with our wee old man French Bulldog, Frank, and he had an absolute ball. Her home is lovely and welcoming, and she and her wee daughter were great with him, he settled in straight away. Claire kept in touch while we were away, sending photos and videos, which really put our minds at ease. Frank barely wanted to come home. If you’re looking for someone genuinely caring to look after your pup, Claire’s your girl. Couldn’t recommend her enough.”

“We left Hugo for 2 nights with Federica, and it went soo well!! We got lots of picture updates which is fantastic, so good to see Hugo happy and settled. Will definitely be booking with Federica again!”

About: I'm a caring, reliable pet sitter who genuinely enjoys spending time with animals and looks forward to getting to know each pet's personality. Being an outdoors person, I'm always happy to head out for long walks and explore new routes with energetic dogs, but I'm just as content spending time at home with a pet who prefers a slower pace and a good cuddle. I understand that every pet is different, so I take the time to learn their routine, preferences and little quirks. Whether that's walks, playtime, feeding, medication, or simply keeping them company while you're away, I'll make sure they feel comfortable, safe and well looked after. Friends and family have trusted me with their pets for years, and one of the things I enjoy most about pet sitting is the chance to spend time with animals and build a bond with them. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust, so I'll always keep you updated with photos and messages for peace of mind while you're away. I work from home, which means I can give pets plenty of attention throughout the day and easily adapt my schedule around their needs. I enjoy having animals around and tend to structure my day to include playtime, feeding routines and companionship. I also love getting outdoors, exploring new places and taking long walks, so active pets will have plenty of opportunities for exercise and adventure. I understand that pets are happiest when they feel safe, comfortable and secure. I take the time to learn each pet's routine and personality, ensuring they receive the care and attention they're used to. As I work from home, pets are rarely left alone for long periods and can enjoy a calm environment with plenty of company. I will always treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect that I would expect for my own.
“Riley was so well looked after over Christmas. Anna took great care to meet up twice beforehand to get to know Riley and welcomed him into her home like he was one of her own. We received daily photos and updates of different walking places. Riley really took to Anna. Thanks Anna for taking such great care of Riley. I would definitely recommend Anna to anyone wanting a home from home experience for their dog.”

“Sara was a wonderful host for my dog Frisa for a few days while I visited Glasgow for a hospital procedure. Sara had a strong intuitive grasp of Frisa's needs and wants. Sara's descriptions and photos sent to me during Frisa's time with Sara matched my own experiences of Frisa's behaviour when engaged and contented. Frisa is a medium sized, but strong, dog and Sara paid careful attention to the advice that we gave her about handling Frisa on walks. I thoroughly recommend Sara.”

“Tilda has clearly had a fantastic time with Ioana! We were kept updated with many reports and photos of Tilda in different circumstances whether it be walks in the park, ball throwing or time with her friends. We were so reassured that Tilda was in great hands and was with someone who very clearly loves dogs and looking after them. We can’t recommend Ioana highly enough.”

About: Over the years I have had 6 cats, 2 dogs, hamsters, parrots and fish so I have always had a love for animals! I have plenty of experience in caring for them and know what they need. I have had pets who have had ongoing medical needs including regular medicine. I’m the go-to contact for friends and family when they need someone to pet-sit! My partner, Huzaifah, will be helping take care of your pet. He’s an animal lover and has looked after cats, dogs, ferrets, fish, and iguana and a tortoise. I work part time and my partner, who also adores animals, works full time from home so your pet will always have company! We don’t work weekends or bank holidays. We currently have 2 gerbils in a cage in our spacious upper cottage flat with an unfenced garden. The gerbils are elevated so there shouldn’t be any issues, they love the company of other animals!

Dylan made the booking so easy. He kept me up to date with photos and videos and always replied quickly to any questions. My dogs loved him and he completely spoiled them with lovely long walks and sleeping comfortably anywhere they like. Would definitely use him again and would recommend to anyone.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Mark went above and beyond to make sure Arlo felt comfortable before his stay, meeting us for walks beforehand and taking the time to ask lots of thoughtful questions about Arlo and his routines so he could provide the best possible care. During Arlo’s stay, we received regular photo updates every day, which gave us complete peace of mind. It’s obvious that Mark is a genuine dog lover who truly cares about the dogs he looks after. Arlo was treated like one of the family, and we knew he was in the best hands throughout his stay. We honestly couldn’t have left Arlo with anyone better. We’d recommend Mark without hesitation and will definitely be booking with him again. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Arlo!

Our Miniature Schnauzer [Finn] stayed with Jennifer for 9 nights from 28 August to 6 September 2025 inclusive. As an 8-year-old dog who had only been bordered once before when he was much younger, we were a little apprehensive about how Finn would react during our absence. We needn't have worried as Finn took to Jennifer immediately [at the pre-meeting] and settled in well during his stay. Jennifer is both friendly & professional and someone who is clearly knowledgeable about dogs. We would have no qualms about placing Finn in Jennifer's care again and will do so I'm sure. Highly recommended. Tony and Margaret Cowden Greenock

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
