I can't thank Heather enough for looking after Peggy so brilliantly. Peggy is 7 and we have never left her with anyone but family before so were anxious she would be unsettled or unhappy but Heather gave us a lot of reassurance beforehand and Peggy loved her time with her. Heather really understood Peggy and we got lots of fabulous updates and photos. I can't recommend Heather more highly and would not hesitate to book again. Thank you 😊

About: I’ve been surrounded by animal since I was 5. I love all animals probably better than people 😀, I love taking care of all a puppy and dog needs. I love spending time with them and make sure they always have fun along with a deserved time off to relax. I’m Working part-time, I am not available the weekends right now but I’m free midweek. I also have a 10 months lab which he is so friendly and full of energy puppy I always make sure I spend time with dogs, going for long adventures, includes normal walks (countryside or beach), playgrounds, feeding dogs accordingly to their diet, making sure they have plenty of space and all the attention & love that they deserve.

Our Australian Labradoodle went for a first stay with Elin for three days and Penny settled well. Elin sent regular updates and videos and took penny to a secure field as well as the coast for a walk. We would recommend Elin.

Jennifer was kind, helpful and efficient at getting back to me, and making quick arrangements for a stay as well as squeezing in a Meet and Greet beforehand. I was impressed with the Meet & Greet, as well as showing us around her home and garden, Jennifer wanted to go for a walk with Digory and ourselves so that she could see firsthand how to handle him. Very reassuring. From the start, it was clear to us that Digory was settled and happy. Regular messages, questions and pictures assured us that he was being carefully and thoughtfully looked after.

About: I’m a reliable, caring dog lover with plenty of experience looking after dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I’ve regularly dog sat for friends and family, including large breeds, reactive dogs, and energetic puppies, so I’m confident adapting to each dog’s individual needs. My home is always fully stocked for furry visitors, with beds, bowls, toys, and treats (with your permission), creating a safe and welcoming environment. I’ll follow your dog’s usual routine, provide plenty of love, exercise, and attention, and I’m happy to administer medication if needed. I work Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, so I’m currently available for weekend boarding and pet sitting, as well as evening walks and drop-in visits during the week. I have a secure, fully fenced garden and plenty of lovely local walking routes to keep them happy and active. My home is fully equipped with everything they might need, including comfortable dog beds, bowls, toys, poop bags, treats (with your permission), and a large crate if they’re crate trained or prefer their own safe space. I’ll follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any special requirements, so they feel relaxed, safe, and right at home during their stay.

Ching was very good at communicating regular updates including photos and honest information. My dog was treated well and went on trips to the beach and park. I was worried as my dog is quite shy but Ching was very reassuring. She was upfront when my dog was being a little unsure, not just telling my dog was absolutely fine. But she also showed me in photos that my dog was happy and feeling more confident with her. It was the first time I've ever left my dog with someone else and I'm so glad I used Ching. I'll definitely go straight to Ching again.

Dora had a lovely stay with Jessica. Jessica is so friendly and Dora was very comfortable with her straight away. Dora went for a walk and a wee visit to meet some of Jessica’s family, and as we picked her up in the morning, they drove by and Dora was delighted to see them again! It was lovely - like Dora had been part of the family for 24 hours! No stress, no drama just a very happy dog. If we are ever in need of a dog sitter again in these we will definitely see if Jessica is available.

Soooo glad we booked through Natalie! Got such a good vibe from the get go. Willow had her first overnight stay with Natalie and it was clear that she enjoyed it. She was quite tentative at first which we were expecting as she’s quite a nervous wee pupster anyway. But Natalie sent plenty of pics and videos which showed Willow having a right good sniff and social time with the other dogs. Her tail was held nice and high. Could tell Natalie really knows her stuff and excellent at making the dogs feel at ease. Paul’s system of introducing each of the dogs to Willow one at a time before them all being together was so effective- was the best way to ease Willow into the environment. I really appreciated how reassuring both Natalie and Paul were throughout Willow’s stay. Will absolutely be booking with Natalie & Paul again!

About: Hi, I'm Alice! I'm a genuine dog lover who enjoys spending quality time with dogs of all ages and personalities. While living in Glasgow, I looked after a lovely Schnauzer once a week for three years, building a great bond through regular walks, playtime, and plenty of cuddles. I've recently moved to a peaceful home just outside Kilmarnock with a large, secure garden that's perfect for playing, exploring, and relaxing outdoors. Whether your dog loves long walks, games of fetch, or simply curling up for some company, I'll make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet, and I'll treat your dog with the same love, care, and attention as if they were my own. If you're looking for a friendly, reliable, and caring sitter, I'd love to meet you and your furry friend. Please feel free to get in touch—I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks, Alice 🐾 Pet care fits easily into my daily routine as I have a flexible schedule and genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs. I make time each day for walks, playtime, feeding, and giving plenty of attention and affection. I also have a large garden where dogs can safely play and burn off energy. Whether your dog needs company during the day, regular walks, or overnight care, I'll make sure they receive the love, exercise, and attention they deserve while keeping to their usual routine as much as possible. Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. In my home, dogs will have a calm, clean, and welcoming environment with plenty of space to relax and a large garden for supervised play and exercise. I'll follow your dog's usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, medication (if needed), and any specific instructions you provide. When caring for dogs in an owner's home, I'll treat both your home and your dog with the utmost respect. I'll ensure your dog receives lots of attention, exercise, companionship, and affection while keeping them comfortable in their familiar surroundings. I'll also keep you updated with regular messages and photos, so you can relax knowing your dog is happy and well cared for.

My dog Summer had a wonderful time at Kirsty’s. She is very knowledgeable about dog behaviour and understanding of their needs. Her pets (cats and dogs) were great around Summer and well-mannered. Summer will definitely be returning for her holidays. We recommend Kirsty from rover to look after your fur baby.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
