“Arlo’s first time staying with Megan and he loved it Megan is really lovely Communication was great and so accommodating in extending Arlo’s stay. Hopefully be back soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Gigi loved her time staying with Heather and her family and made herself at home. She especially loved spending time with Heathers daughter and enjoyed her cuddles ! It was great having Heathers dog, little Daisy there too for a little companion for Gigi, I am sure she is missing her lots. Thanks again to Heather for looking after her so well and putting our minds at ease whilst we were on our family holiday.”

“Jennifer looked after our two cocker spaniels overnight. This was her 1st time looking after our girls and she came for a meet and greet a couple of weeks before and learned all about our dogs and their needs. They were treated as part of her family, and walked several times with lots of photos to update us along the way. The dogs seemed very happy and relaxed. I would not hesitate to use Jennifer again or recommend Jennifer to anyone needing dog sitting in the Ayrshire area.”

“We couldn't have asked for more! Koko, Yoyo and family were absolutely impeccable from start to finish. We loved receiving all the regular updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear that our pups were happy, relaxed, and treated like part of the family, they truly felt at home. We picked up two very content dogs, and we're so grateful for the wonderful care they received. Cooper and Lando are very much looking forward to their holiday in October. Thank you so much once again! 🥹🥰🐾🐶”

About: I've had animals my whole life, dogs, cats, small furries & birds. at the moment I have a boxer, ragdoll kitty, tortoise & 2 rats. Your pet will be treated with the same care & love as my own. I want your pets to see me as a friend they love to see, so as much info about what they like as you can give will be appreciated. I'm an auxiliary nurse, working part time, happy to care for pets on my days off, I can be flexible if you need late drop ins etc. I can't offer holiday boarding as I still work part time, but can accommodate 1-2 nights when I'm off, for short trips away, family emergencies etc, or drop in visits if that suits your pet... I have a fenced garden & a friendly dog to keep your dog company, I also have an elderly cat, so any pets would have to be cat friendly.
“Helena looked after my little Chihuahua Poppy for a second time and again I am really pleased with how well the boarding went. Poppy is elderly and Helena and her family take great care of her and give her lots of attention, love and cuddles meaning that I can relax on holiday knowing that Poppy is very happy. Helena is such a lovely kind person and Poppy was happy to see her when I dropped her off, that says it all! I would definitely recommend Helena as a sitter and would have no hesitation in leaving Poppy with her again.”

“Elin and her family were fantastic sitters for Sox. He loved being with them - to the extent he might find being home with me a bit boring now :). No, seriously, Elin sent me lovely pics of Sox getting cuddles from the kids and going on long dog walks. She's a very organised person too, you can just tell. Thank you Elin and will definitely be back.”

“Bowser was really well cared for during his overnight stay. I was kept updated throughout the sta6rt, so I felt really reassured that bowser was doing well and having a great time Orla and Aine will be my first port of call next time I need him looked after”

“This was our first time leaving our dog with anyone out with our immediate family and we’re a little nervous but Cara was excellent and Cassie seemed sad to leave! We got loads of videos and pics of the fun being had and we have now already booked for our summer holidays! Top class and couldn’t ask for anything more”

“KAELAN is great with the dogs and knows what they need. He had my 2 daschunds for a week and they came back happy. He kept in regular contact and sent photos to keep us updated. Definitely recommend him.”

“Our wee boy went to stay with Kirsty for a night while we attended a wedding. She offered a meet and greet before hand which went really well and we knew he would be well looked after. She sent us regular pictures and he was clearly having a fantastic time with his new friends! He chewed through his lead and she replaced it which was very kind but absolutely not needed! He had another one with him and he is a chewy pup so we would have happily replaced it. We will definitely use Kirsty again.”

“I can’t recommend Ching enough. We put our dog Skye to her for 3 nights. Ching was in constant contact sending pictures of Skye out on walks and in the house and interacting with the other dogs and letting us know how she was. She will keep the dog to your schedule that you have at home aswell. When it came time to dropping Skye off she was jumping up to her and wanting to play. You can tell she had the best time staying with Ching.”

“Yum W known as Coco was absolutely wonderful with my little active Jack Russell (pebbles) I was sent regular photos of her relaxing and thoroughly enjoy her stay with Coco and her lovely daughter and this in turn allowed me to relax and enjoy my holiday, will definitely use again”

“Scott was amazing, I was so nervous to leave Nala but I had nothing to worry about. Scott send pictures & videos showing how much fun they were having, could not recommend Scott highly enough.”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Ayrshire
Ebony was a life saver and cared for my dog Daisy for 5 days when i was on holiday, which was a very last minute arrangement. I was a bit apprehensive as i've never used this service or Rover before. I couldn't be happier with the service Daisy received. my mind was put at ease as soon as Ebony collected Daisy and she asked all about our routine, likes and dislikes. I was kept updated through the app and sent photographs which was lovely. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ebony again in the future to care for Daisy. Thank you so much for everything.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
