Elin is an amazing dog sitter Penny loves going and she always sends regular updates and changes her plans with dogs flexibly depending on the weather when it is too warm and goes forest walks when it is super rainy. This is the second time we have booked with Elin and would definitely book again!

We had never boarded our border collie Kayleigh before but with growing family responsibilities and lack of availability, we decided to give Rover a go and found Kwok Ho L. From day one we were put at total ease. My husband went round to meet the family and to see where Kayleigh would be staying. A very pet friendly home and perfectly secure garden, with lots of space and toys. On the day of the holiday we of course had the normal nerves of leaving her but these concerns were completely unfounded. Koko and her family welcome Kayleigh like part of the family. Daily photo updates, reassuring us that she had settled in with updates on food and activities. Kayleigh was clearly getting so much love and looked so settled and happy. 100% recommend Koko and we will definitely be using their services again. Thank you Koko and family, Kayleigh is already looking forward to seeing you all again. Lisa and Dean x

I can highly recommend Heather as she is very caring and friendly. My dog Millie stayed at Heather's house in August and I received messages and photos from Heather while I was away. Millie had a fantastic stay with Heather and her lovely family and I will definitely use this very dedicated pet sitter again

About: Animal LOVER. Had all kinds of animals growing up. From rabbits, horses, dogs. Currently have a cat (Marley) loves animals also. Taught my own cat to gives paws for treats🤠 I currently own my own business and have my cat Marley. Taught him how to give paws like a dog. Iconic I know. Marley likes other animals :) I have my own business so work from home a lot of the time. Fenced in back garden and close to the beach for walks.

Couldn't ask for a nicer, safer, more caring home to send our dog to. Angus must have remembered how well he was treated the first time he stayed because he settled in straight away. For such an anxious wee dog I didn't think this was possible. Great communication as always! Would give 10 stars if we could.

This was our first time leaving our dog with anyone out with our immediate family and we’re a little nervous but Cara was excellent and Cassie seemed sad to leave! We got loads of videos and pics of the fun being had and we have now already booked for our summer holidays! Top class and couldn’t ask for anything more

Winnie has stayed at Stephanie’s house several times now and I would happily book her in again. She always looks like she has a great time and she really makes herself at home in Stephanie’s house. I really appreciate the photos and videos as well to show me that she’s having a nice time. It gives me peace of mind when I am away on a trip.

Wow! Could not be more grateful impressed or recommend more highly! Kim and her husband Ali took the very best care of my nervous pup and treated her to so much love attention and adventures. They took her to a specialist dog park and were playing and chasing with her going above and beyond! I made the booking with a few hours notice for an overnight stay and Kim was so kind and gracious about every step, very understanding and sent loads of updates. Roxy was spoilt with cuddles affection and attention and had the best sleepover party ever - thank you both I feel so lucky to have found you!

Izzy stayed with Nicola at the weekend and she had an absolute ball! We were quite apprehensive about leaving her as this was the first time she had stayed with anyone without her big sister who we lost recently 🌈😥 There was no need to worry as Nicola looked after her so well, it’s obvious she has a great love of dogs. Thank you so much 🩷🩷

Leilane looked after our fur baby Heidi for just over two weeks. Leilane was great, she kept my husband and I updated every day on Heidi, with pictures or small reels. Heidi settled and relaxed into her company very quickly. I would use Leilane again as she is trustworthy and Heidi loved being with her. If you’re looking for a trustworthy dog sitter, I would highly recommend Leilane.

Nicola and Tom went way beyond what we expected from a dog sitter. Our Cavalier was given the five star treatment with plenty of exercise and a welcome home. We were provided with daily updates via WhatsApp while we were away to reassure us that our dog was settling in to his temporary home. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Nicola and Tom and would thoroughly recommend them - they were a pleasure to deal with.

Ebony was a life saver and cared for my dog Daisy for 5 days when i was on holiday, which was a very last minute arrangement. I was a bit apprehensive as i've never used this service or Rover before. I couldn't be happier with the service Daisy received. my mind was put at ease as soon as Ebony collected Daisy and she asked all about our routine, likes and dislikes. I was kept updated through the app and sent photographs which was lovely. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ebony again in the future to care for Daisy. Thank you so much for everything.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
