My dog Summer had a wonderful time at Kirsty’s. She is very knowledgeable about dog behaviour and understanding of their needs. Her pets (cats and dogs) were great around Summer and well-mannered. Summer will definitely be returning for her holidays. We recommend Kirsty from rover to look after your fur baby.

About: Over the years I have had 6 cats, 2 dogs, hamsters, parrots and fish so I have always had a love for animals! I have plenty of experience in caring for them and know what they need. I have had pets who have had ongoing medical needs including regular medicine. I’m the go-to contact for friends and family when they need someone to pet-sit! My partner, Huzaifah, will be helping take care of your pet. He’s an animal lover and has looked after cats, dogs, ferrets, fish, and iguana and a tortoise. I work part time and my partner, who also adores animals, works full time from home so your pet will always have company! We don’t work weekends or bank holidays. We currently have 2 gerbils in a cage in our spacious upper cottage flat with an unfenced garden. The gerbils are elevated so there shouldn’t be any issues, they love the company of other animals!

Bethany provided a lovely home for Dexter. He settled quickly and enjoyed his short stay. Bethany took him out for regular walks and kept me updated with how Dexter was and sent plenty of photos. I would definitely use her again in the future.

They took wonderful care of my dog, it was his first time staying overnight outside of my house and away from me. He loved it, their children got on amazingly with him and I received tons of photos of him with the other dogs. Definitely recommend, and have recommended to my friends too.

Brilliant! This was the first time we left our girls Callie and Willow with anyone other than family. Michaela was amazing! She kept us updated with pictures and as soon as the girls walked in the door they were at ease with her. I’m not too sure if they wanted to leave to be honest 😂 Highly recommend!!

Honestly can’t commend Harry highly enough. He looked after our Bailey for 1 week while we were on holiday and Bailey had the best time and was so well looked after. We got photos and updates every day and it felt like Bailey was on holiday too. First time we’ve ever used boarding and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Harry again. If you are boarding for the first time, just book Harry, you’ll have no regrets! Thanks again Harry! :)

Orla and Aine were fantastic sitters for Luna, I can tell that she had such a good time. We met for a meet and greet before her stay so they could get a quick introduction and they made sure to follow Luna’s routine as closely as possible to make her stay comfortable for her. They asked plenty of questions to get things right for Luna and took her to her favourite places for her walks. I would definitely book with them again and recommend to anyone looking for reliable dog sitters!

About: As a child, I never had a dog or cat of my own, despite begging my parents. So, I made up for it by walking my friends’ dogs as I loved animals. My mum then got a greyhound six years ago, and he was the best thing to happen to our family, so I spent my days looking after him. I wish to continue to do so in any way I can, whether it be dog walking or sleepovers. I am more than happy to help. I look forward to seeing the adventures your furry friend and I will go on, whether that be a local walk or taking your dog to the national park local to me. I am really looking forward to hearing from you! - Marina I currently working hybrid/remote from home so I’ll have plenty of time to look after your lovely pets! I have every weekend off too (: I can take your dog for local walks or i can take your dog to Loch Lomond or Balloch castle which is perfect for dog walking, your dog can wander around, play and swim too (: I will always create a route tailored to your dogs needs and abilities. At home, your pet will be allowed to wander the house freely. We have a good back and front garden where they can play and go out whenever they’d like.

About: My partner and I bought our new home back in March and we are so excited to open it up to lots of dog friends! We’ve been the go to dog sitters for our friends and family for years, regularly looking after dogs for anything from quick weekend trips to fortnight long stays. Everyone recommends us as we couldn’t be bigger dog lovers! We’re used to keeping routines consistent, managing different temperaments, and making sure dogs feel completely at home (in the bed and on the furniture!!) We have our own 9 year old boy, Marley, but he actually has joint custody with my parents because they aren't quite ready to let him leave home full time yet! This setup works brilliantly for hosting: if your dog is great with other pets, Marley is happy to be there, but if your dog isn't good with other animals or just needs to be on their own, Marley will happily stay at his "grandparents'" house for the duration of the booking. Your dog will have full access to our house and although we have a flat with no garden it is by the water and full open plan. Plenty of walks, endless affection, and you'll get regular photo updates while you’re away. Both my partner and I work from home with extreme flexibility. We manage our own calendars which means your dog will rarely be left alone and gets company all day long. We have complete flexibility to stick to your dog’s usual daily routine, including regular toilet breaks, play sessions, and walks around our working hours. We live in a new flat open plan flat with a safe, quiet home environment and great local walking routes right on our doorstep. Our 9 year old dog, Marley, shares joint custody with my parents, meaning we can easily host dogs who need to be the only pet in the flat by arranging for Marley to stay with them. Your dog will have full run of our home and constant care while staying with us.

Contacted Anne Marie for home boarding for our 10 year old lhasa apso for our recent trip. A lovely lady who was enthusiastic, caring and affectionate towards our wee dog. She kept us advised of his progress during the 2 weeks we were away, as this was the first time we had left him with someone we didn't know. When we came back he was very happy to see us and we knew that she had cared for him ever so well. I am happy to recommend Anne Marie to anyone who needs their dog looked after.

About: I am a dog loving, animal obsessed and puppy mum! We have brought home a new puppy this year, Haggis and happy to share our home with other friendly pups who need some short stays! Hi! I’m an experienced dog owner and absolutely love having dogs around. Your dog will be treated like part of the family in a safe, loving home alongside our friendly Australian Labradoodle puppy, Haggis, and our 8-year-old son, who has grown up around dogs and is calm and respectful with them. To make sure everyone has a happy and stress-free stay, we do have a few requirements. Dogs staying with us must be friendly and comfortable around other dogs and children. We also ask that they’re happy sleeping in either a crate or their own bed overnight, as we don’t allow dogs to sleep in our beds. Our aim is to provide a fun, safe, and relaxed home-from-home where your dog gets plenty of attention, play, and care while you’re away. We look forward to meeting you and your furry friend! We have an enclosed garden and lots of walks in our area to take your dog on.

Emma & Sandy looked after Willow for 2 nights whilst we were visiting the area for a wedding. We couldn’t have asked for better care, Willow was treated like their own dog, it was like home from home. We received regular updates and photos and it was obvious Willow was very happy. We would definitely recommend.

Julie and her family were fantastic with our boy Chuck. We got regular messages and photos whilst we were away on holiday and was great to see him have fun on his holiday too 🥰 so much so he may have been questioning coming home! I would absolutely recommend Julie to anyone looking for a sitter and would 100% ask Julie to watch Chuck again, it’s not easy finding the right person who will take care of our pets and treat them as their own but Julie and her family did just that ☺️

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
