“This was our first time using Rover intact first time leaving Toby with anyone other than family so I will be honest I was a little anxious. I need not have worried we absolutely hit the jackpot with Steven. Toby had the best time, he was extremely well looked after and had obviously had lots of fun . Steven put me at ease by sending updates along with some photos of Toby . 5 star service.”

“We were nervous leaving our dog, but Julie put us completely at ease. She sent regular updates and photos/videos which gave us so much peace of mind. She is incredibly reliable, caring, and took excellent care of our Frenchie.Would highly recommend Julie to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter!"”

About: I have experience with high energy dogs with my 5 year old border collie, and my friends and family have dogs of various breeds. I have grown up around dogs of all ages, my aunt bred border collies and trained them for shows, and I enjoyed getting involved with their training. Currently on maternity leave and my partner is studying mostly from home, so always someone around for company. We love to get outdoors to walk our 5 year old border collie with our 6 month old daughter (always supervised with dogs and is very respectful), usually over the Kilpatrick Hills or Balloch Country Park. We have a large fenced garden and a 5 year old border collie for your pets to make friends with! We’re always up for a snuggle, dogs welcome on furniture but can hold boundaries if that is preferred. We have multiple crates and can separate dogs in different rooms if required.
“Thank you Rebecca and family for taking care of Mac. Absolutely fabulous service with updates every day. I could see Mac was being well looked after and was so happy. Six star review all round.”

“Kirsty was great with Yogi, I was a little nervous as Yogi hasn’t stayed with anyone other than family before. Kirsty kept me updated with photos regularly which was great as I could see what he was up to. If you’re looking for anyone to mind your dog, I would definitely recommend Kirsty 🥰”

“Bethany provided a lovely home for Dexter. He settled quickly and enjoyed his short stay. Bethany took him out for regular walks and kept me updated with how Dexter was and sent plenty of photos. I would definitely use her again in the future.”

“From start to finish, Claire was brilliant. So warm and caring with our wee old man French Bulldog, Frank, and he had an absolute ball. Her home is lovely and welcoming, and she and her wee daughter were great with him, he settled in straight away. Claire kept in touch while we were away, sending photos and videos, which really put our minds at ease. Frank barely wanted to come home. If you’re looking for someone genuinely caring to look after your pup, Claire’s your girl. Couldn’t recommend her enough.”

“Huge thank you to Jennifer and family for their care and attention of our Labrador. Collected him after 2 nights and he was happy and relaxed and settling back home very quickly. I would definitely approach Jennifer for future stays, with the peace of mind that our dogs is having a lovely holiday too.”

“Brilliant! This was the first time we left our girls Callie and Willow with anyone other than family. Michaela was amazing! She kept us updated with pictures and as soon as the girls walked in the door they were at ease with her. I’m not too sure if they wanted to leave to be honest 😂 Highly recommend!!”

“Bowser was really well cared for during his overnight stay. I was kept updated throughout the sta6rt, so I felt really reassured that bowser was doing well and having a great time Orla and Aine will be my first port of call next time I need him looked after”

“Couldn’t recommend Harry highly enough. A really nice lad & very easy to get on with. Hamish had the best time and was looked after with lots of care. He sent me lots of pictures and kept me updated the whole time. I would definitely use Harry again in future.”

About: Over the years I have had 6 cats, 2 dogs, hamsters, parrots and fish so I have always had a love for animals! I have plenty of experience in caring for them and know what they need. I have had pets who have had ongoing medical needs including regular medicine. I’m the go-to contact for friends and family when they need someone to pet-sit! My partner, Huzaifah, will be helping take care of your pet. He’s an animal lover and has looked after cats, dogs, ferrets, fish, and iguana and a tortoise. I work part time and my partner, who also adores animals, works full time from home so your pet will always have company! We don’t work weekends or bank holidays. We currently have 2 gerbils in a cage in our spacious upper cottage flat with an unfenced garden. The gerbils are elevated so there shouldn’t be any issues, they love the company of other animals!
“Kirsty communicated great from the off and arranged an initial meeting so Desmond could meet and get comfortable in her and her partners home. We received pics throughout his stay and he looked like he had an amazing time - he was exhausted for a couple of days after! A one year old border terrier is not the easiest to deal with and we know Desmond can get overexcited and is full of energy, so we really appreciate the effort that went into looking after him and I’m pretty certain he loved his time.”

“Can’t recommend David enough. David accommodated me very last minute to keep my two nine month old pups overnight. As it was a first time needing to leave them I was very anxious however, David put my mind at ease with updates of how the boys were settling and took them out their walks. I will definitely use again if David is happy to look after the Krays ☺️.”

“Emma & Sandy looked after Willow for 2 nights whilst we were visiting the area for a wedding. We couldn’t have asked for better care, Willow was treated like their own dog, it was like home from home. We received regular updates and photos and it was obvious Willow was very happy. We would definitely recommend.”

“It was a really wonderful stay for my wee dog, Benjy, with Mark. I was very reassured throughout as I received regular updates and photos. Initially, I was worried about leaving him for a week, but Mark and his lovely wife were extremely kind and reassuring. Benjy had a lovely time there. We are already looking forward to his next one-week stay in June again!”

“Gus had a wonderful time with Koko and Yoyo and their lovely family, being treated with kindness and as a family member. He had such fun and we felt reassured all the time as we had so many photos and videos of him during every day of his stay. Thank you for all the care!”

- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
