“This was our first time using Rover intact first time leaving Toby with anyone other than family so I will be honest I was a little anxious. I need not have worried we absolutely hit the jackpot with Steven. Toby had the best time, he was extremely well looked after and had obviously had lots of fun . Steven put me at ease by sending updates along with some photos of Toby . 5 star service.”

“Julie and her family took wonderful care of our 1 year old lab. It was the first time leaving her with anybody and she can be a wee bit timid. However, it was clear from the outset that Julie and her family were warm and welcoming to her and made her feel very loved and cared for. Lots of pupdates meant we were very reassured whilst away. Would not hesitate to recommend. Thanks Julie”

“Thank you Rebecca and family for taking care of Mac. Absolutely fabulous service with updates every day. I could see Mac was being well looked after and was so happy. Six star review all round.”

“Our wee boy went to stay with Kirsty for a night while we attended a wedding. She offered a meet and greet before hand which went really well and we knew he would be well looked after. She sent us regular pictures and he was clearly having a fantastic time with his new friends! He chewed through his lead and she replaced it which was very kind but absolutely not needed! He had another one with him and he is a chewy pup so we would have happily replaced it. We will definitely use Kirsty again.”

“Brilliant! This was the first time we left our girls Callie and Willow with anyone other than family. Michaela was amazing! She kept us updated with pictures and as soon as the girls walked in the door they were at ease with her. I’m not too sure if they wanted to leave to be honest 😂 Highly recommend!!”

“Contacted Anne Marie for home boarding for our 10 year old lhasa apso for our recent trip. A lovely lady who was enthusiastic, caring and affectionate towards our wee dog. She kept us advised of his progress during the 2 weeks we were away, as this was the first time we had left him with someone we didn't know. When we came back he was very happy to see us and we knew that she had cared for him ever so well. I am happy to recommend Anne Marie to anyone who needs their dog looked after.”

“Bethany provided a lovely home for Dexter. He settled quickly and enjoyed his short stay. Bethany took him out for regular walks and kept me updated with how Dexter was and sent plenty of photos. I would definitely use her again in the future.”

About: I have been a dedicated pet owner my entire life, which he sadly recently passed away, and have a deep love and understanding of animals. My personal experience includes caring for my own beloved dog for 15 years, during which I was responsible for all aspects of his well-being, including daily walks, feeding schedules, medication administration, and regular veterinary visits. This long-term commitment has provided me with practical, hands-on experience in managing a dog's routine and adapting care as they age. I am comfortable with dogs, for I had a Staffie and can provide compassionate, reliable, and attentive care tailored to your pet’s specific needs with lovely walks surrounded my place. Your pet will be well looked after and loved. I am a stay at home person and do things from home apart from on a Thursday I am out 10am-2pm, and on a Friday night I work 6pm-10pm. I am in a smoke free home, one level flat, ground floor with a large back garden that is fenced and many lovely nature walks surrounding me. It's a warm cosy home, and plenty room for cuddles.
“Our Eddie is a return visitor with Jennifer as we know he’s well cared for and happy there. It gives us peace of mind and reassurance when we’re enjoying our holiday, because we know that Eddie is enjoying his holiday too.”

“Honestly can’t commend Harry highly enough. He looked after our Bailey for 1 week while we were on holiday and Bailey had the best time and was so well looked after. We got photos and updates every day and it felt like Bailey was on holiday too. First time we’ve ever used boarding and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Harry again. If you are boarding for the first time, just book Harry, you’ll have no regrets! Thanks again Harry! :)”

“Kirsty and her partner hosted Charlie so well I’m not sure he was that convinced to come home to us 😆 Well looked after and well travelled (kept updated with Charlie’s tourist snaps!) he was knackered when he came home. Thank you Kirsty! Hope to visit again. Highly recommended.”

“Alison looked after our boy Baxter for an overnight stay. She visited us and Baxter beforehand and Baxter took to Alison straight off. It was plain to see she had lots of experience with dogs as he was very happy in her company. While we were away Alison kept us uo to date with messages and photos and we could see he was in very good hands. We will definitely be taking Baxter back to stay with Alison and would 100% recommend her to other.owners.”

“Julie is an amazing experienced sitter who truly looks after your dogs as if they were her own. We are always kept up to date with pictures, videos, and stories of their adventures. Our dog Biscuit adores Julie and her sleepovers, and would absolutely rate higher than 5 stars if she could!”

As it was a first time needing to leave them I was very anxious however, David put my mind at ease with updates of how the boys were settling and took them out their walks. I will definitely use again if David is happy to look after the Krays ☺️.”

“We couldn’t have asked for better people to look after our dog. From the start, they were kind, reliable, and clearly cared deeply about making sure our dog felt comfortable and happy. We received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious our dog was treated like part of the family — well looked after, exercised, and given lots of attention and affection. We came home to a relaxed and happy dog, which says everything. We’re incredibly grateful for the care and love they showed and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy and caring dog sitters.”

Steven managed to squeeze us in last minute for our elderly boy when an emergency cropped up. We were nervous as had never used a service like this before and our old boy is set in his ways but he settled with steven quickly. Steven went at our boys pace and worked around his needs. Would highly recommend Steven and we would definitely use him again

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
