“Bonnie had an overnight with Kirsten while we attended a family gathering. Bonnie settled well and seemed to have enjoyed her stay. Kirsten kept in contact and sent photos to let us know she was happy and settled. Would recommend Kirsten and will consider using her again in the future. *****”

“Our first time using the service and Craig surpassed expectations massively. Felt at ease from the first message and at the drop off. Our boy was treated so well and we were kept up to date at all times through WhatsApp. Long walks everyday and he clearly felt very comfortable in there home. Cannot recommend Craig highly enough and it’ll be our first option for any dog sitting needs in the future. Very grateful to them both.”

“Cristina was a lovely host for our boy Monty! She looked after him well and sent lots of photographs to let us see that he was happy and settled. Would definitely use her again for any future holidays 🐾”

“Katie was amazing with Clyde, he was looked after the same way as he does at home. He was a very happy boy during his stay, we would definitely recommend Katie to look after anyone’s dog and feel good about it. Clyde is a very happy boy 💙”

“We had an amazing experience with Sophie. Dakota loved getting out for plenty of walks and also loved enjoying joining them for runs. She was also very understanding of our awkward and late drop off/pick up times. Thank you Sophie!”

“We cannot recommend Harris and Maria highly enough, they have been looking after our Jack Russell for 12 days while we have been on holiday, they kept us updated every day on how he was doing and our we guy was having a ball. He was clearly well looked after and had regular walks and their dog Molly was an amazing friend for him. We will definately be booking with Harris and Maria again. Exceptional dog sitters.”

“I can’t recommend Rhona highly enough! She took exceptional care of Mindy, and it was brilliant that Mindy got to spend time with another Border Collie, Lottie. Receiving so many lovely pictures while we were away was fantastic. Rhona is a wonderful, trustworthy sitter who we will definitely use again. A+”

“Andrew is absolutely 5 star and more and gave nothing but the very best in care and attention for Dora. From the outset with communication and whilst Dora was with him he gave regular updates and I could just tell how passionate he is about providing only the very best for the dogs he looks after. Dora had a ball and has come back very chilled and relaxed. I can't thank Andrew enough for looking after her so well and I most certainly will use Andrew again and would recommend him to anyone. Thanks again Andrew, you have been absolutely first class.”

“Michèle was wonderful and provided a calm, loving and warm home from home for my wee dog. She sent regular updates including videos and photos which I really appreciated too. You can tell that Michèle loves and cares a lot for animals and is a lovely people person too. I would highly recommend her”

“This was our first experience of home boarding our elderly beagle Lexi (age 15). We were understandably nervous due to her age and quirks, however Julie & Steve put us at our ease immediately with their kind, friendly manner. It is clear they are dog lovers and Lexi took to them straight away. They kept us informed of how she was getting on including pics where we could see she had made herself right at home! Could not recommend them highly enough, lovely genuine people who provide a 5 star service ⭐️thanks again! John, Lynn & Lexi”

“Shauni was amazing throughout our booking and couldn’t have been more attentive and loving to our boy. He came back with the biggest tail wags and most excitement. He can’t wait to see her again🫶🏼”

“Rory and moira were amazing with rosco. He settled so well and had the best time. Loved all the updates with pictures and videos. We will definitely be using them again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you both!!”

“First time leaving Kobe with someone other than family and of course you worry that they will be ok. He is 9years old this year and always been with family. But, my goodness we certainly had nothing to worry about. Isobel and John have loved Kobe like he was their own and truly spoiled him! Lots of photos and updates and he has definitely now got a second family!! No hesitation in rebooking with Isobel as I know he has a second Mum in his life! 🩵”

“We had never used Rover before and didn’t know what to expect but after meeting with Stephanie to introduce her to Angus prior to his stay we felt assured that it was the right choice. Stephanie welcomed Angus into her home and done a great job of making sure he was well looked after. She kept in contact daily with messages, photos and videos of his stay with her which reassured us we had made the right choice. Thanks again Stephanie for doing a great job looking after Angus.”

“Lorenzo was a great dog sitter. My dog had a great time with him and his partner. They walked him regularly and sent photos daily. I will now use them as my preferred sitters.”

“I would strongly recommend Avril. She was incredibly supportive and attentive with Locky. I felt rest assured that he was well taken care of. He looked very happy and chilled.”

“Chris was amazing with my energetic lab Ollie and was really understanding of his temperament and needs. Chris helped us out with a last minute booking after we were let down by kennels right before our holiday. I received lots of pictures whilst we were away so was reassured that my dog was doing well and could see he was very well exercised. Would not hesitate to use Chris again in the future!”

“Jessica looked after our working cocker Peggy for the weekend while we were celebrating our son’s 21st birthday. Peggy clearly recognised Jessica’s house and couldn’t wait to get inside (a good sign!). She enjoyed walks, playing in the garden and relaxing in the house. Jessica let us know how Peggy was getting on so we were able to relax. Thank you Jessica!”

Sophie was an amazing sitter to our Shih Tzu Buena whilst we were away on holiday - from start to finish, we got lots of updates with Buena and Sophie's own dog Mabel which was so lovely. We had a little meet-up in a park before the booking started so that we could be sure that the dogs got on well, they became little besties sunbathing together! 100% recommend:)

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
