It was so lovely to have Isobel take care of our Bruk when we were moving house. She is absolutely brilliant with furry ones, and Bruk enjoyed every moment with her and her family. Thank you for taking such good care of Bruk again! xx

Michelle welcomed our wee 4.5 month old Miniature Schnauzer puppy with open arms. She took note of his medical conditions and medication if it became necessary. She played with him alongside her adorable wee Yorkie boy called Ollie. She fed our boy, let him out at regular intervals and also walked him for 20-25 mins - all this in the space of 6+ hours, so she did so well with him. I would easily hire Michele again to look after our boy. Thanks Michele!! Top marks to you and also wee Ollie too!! ☺️⭐

Sophie was amazing at keeping me updated with photos & messages during George's stay which put my mind at ease. He looked like he was having a great time & slept like a baby when I brought him home so he obviously had a lot of dun dueing his stay. I will definitely use Sophie in the future. 😀

Kirsten was fab with Daisy. We have only had her 8 weeks and so were worried how she would be with someone new. We had pictures of her time with Kirsten and she kept us up to date with how she was doing. Excellent sitter and a lovely person, and wouldn’t hesitate for Daisy to stay with her again.

Another great stay with Alison. Millie can be a bit anxious when first separated from us and Alison knew how to manage that with time in the garden, walks and keeping an eye on how she is eating. We will definitely be back. Thanks Alison, safe hands.

Rachel was looking after my springer spaniel Piper when I went South for work. I received many updates and photos/videos of Piper enjoying her little holiday. Rachel is a caring and very friendly person who will love your dogs as if they were her own. She's quick to respond to the enquiries/messages and even accommodated for the extension to Piper's stay when the need arose. I'm very happy that I found her and will definitely be returning. I highly recommend Rachel for your dog care.

About: I have loved dogs all of my life but unfortunately the time was never right to have one of my own. My love for dogs only grew when my parents decided to get a puppy, Angus, in my early 20s whilst I was still living at home due to being a full time student. Angus’ mum is a working springer spaniel and his dad a miniature poodle which makes him a sproodle! Think high energy, super friendly and fluffy! I trained Angus as a puppy and took him to puppy classes, socialising and walking groups. I continue to support my parents to develop Angus’ training, particularly when out walking as Angus loves to chase leaves! My friends have relied on me in the past to look after and walk their dogs which I have always been grateful to help with! I have also supported a family member to re-home a rescue dog. I have experience administering weekly ear drops as prescribed by vets. I work a hybrid working pattern which means that I am able to work from home part of the week. This means I will be able to look after, play with, and get some extra steps in with furry friends. I am available, particularly at the weekends, for boarding services. I have a fenced back garden and there are lots of pathways and grassy areas nearby for your furry friends to sniff and do their business! I have sufficient space to accommodate your pets crate, if this is their safe place, and best for them to bring with them.

Sophie was an amazing sitter to our Shih Tzu Buena whilst we were away on holiday - from start to finish, we got lots of updates with Buena and Sophie's own dog Mabel which was so lovely. We had a little meet-up in a park before the booking started so that we could be sure that the dogs got on well, they became little besties sunbathing together! 100% recommend:)

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
