Tara clearly loves dogs and loves taking care of them. She was friendly, attentive, and Rogans eye contact when he left her showed us he adored Tara. No higher praise than Rogans own. 5 stars.

I picked Bear up from Debbie’s and as usual he was excited to see me. He was in tip top condition and looked like he was enjoying life. Only thing that would have made it better was saying our goodbyes to Debbie. Thank you for having Bear. I would absolutely use Debbie’s services again if the family were not able as this time. ❤️

Ava had a wonderful time with Grant and Angela during her recent stay. We were nervous as this was Ava’s first time home boarding and she had recently been ill. However after an initial meet and greet at their home we had no worries and were happy to leave Ava in their very capable and caring hands. They have a great set up at home, secure garden and lovely country walks. Grant ensured we had regular updates and videos and we could see how happy Ava was on her holiday. We will definitely be home boarding Ava with them again. She didn’t want to leave! Thank you Grant and Angela for looking after Ava so well.

Julie and Steve provided excellent care for my dog. He came home very happy, well exercised and very well cared for. They had noticed his moods, his needs and coped brilliantly with him. I have no hesitation in recommending them as carers to other dog owners.

We were a bit apprehensive about leaving our rescue staffy for the first time. Rhiannon was really great from the offset. She is quick at responding to communications, and followed Blue’s routine well. She sent some photos during his stay and he looked very settled and happy. He is reactive to other dogs, and can be very excitable so we were a bit worried how he would get on. He was absolutely fine, and we will definitely be asking Rhiannon to look after him again soon.

Abbie and her partner looked after my Snoop for a week, ending today. I was a little concerned as he had only been left once before and can occasionally be wary of men but boy did he make me look like an idiot for worrying 😂 Abbie and her own dog were lovely and put my mind at rest as soon as I met them (before the actual booking) and this week whilst on holiday I received daily updates, photos and videos and each time he looked like he was having the time of his life - on walks, in the river and just chilling out at home. He truly was treated as part of the family and Abbie couldn't have done anything more. 100% will book again with no hesitation!

About: I was raised in a house full of different animals and for the last 20 years I have had dogs, cats, rabbits, gecko & horse. I have experience in looking after small to extra large dogs. I was a fosterer with Thistle Boxer Rescue for 3 years and became a trustee (lead rehomer) matching rescues with their forever family. This was the most rewarding experience ever! I have experience in challenging behaviours and believe in reward based training. My only ask is that any behavioural issues are disclosed before pick up/drop off such as wanting to eat my cat (1 eyed feline who thinks she runs the house) this decreases any risks and helps me to understand the dog better and provide better care. I also like to borrow my friends and family’s dogs just because I like the furry hugs. I like to make sure that all dogs feel loved. I have a variety of walking areas local to me and will work around the needs of the dogs. I am currently not working so will be able to fully focus on any dog that is in my care. Going for walks, playing with toys and snuggling on the couch if that’s what they want. I look after all animals in my care as my own, with love and with lots of fun. I treat others home and property with care and respect.

First time we’ve used Danielle and family and were really impressed. Updates were regular and detailed, which is so important and allows you to enjoy your holiday, took time to understand Theo’s normal routine and clearly given him lots of care, attention and outdoor stimulation. End result is our dog returned happy and tired out (in a good way!). Wouldn’t hesitate to use them in future and thanks again for being great boarders :)

About: Hi! I’m Anastasiia, and animals have always been a very special part of my life. I grew up with my beloved dog, Timmy, who was part of our family for 14 wonderful years. Caring for him taught me patience, responsibility and how important it is for every pet to feel safe, loved and understood. I truly love animals and enjoy spending time with them. Since losing Timmy two years ago, I’ve really missed having a furry companion around, which inspired me to join Rover and care for other people’s wonderful pets. I’m currently completing my MSc dissertation, so I spend most of my time at home. This means your pet will receive plenty of attention, companionship, regular walks and lots of care throughout the day. I only host one family’s pet at a time to provide a calm, safe and loving environment. I’ll follow your pet’s usual routine and keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can enjoy your time away with peace of mind. I’m currently completing my MSc dissertation, which means I spend most of my time at home and have a flexible schedule. Your dog will receive plenty of attention, regular walks, playtime and companionship throughout the day. I’m available for boarding on both weekdays and weekends. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I only host one family’s pet at a time to provide a calm and stress-free environment. I’ll carefully follow your dog’s usual routine, including feeding, walks and any special instructions. Molly had a great 10 days with Abbie, Alex and Juniper. Abbie took great care in finding out about her needs, meeting her a couple of times beforehand and introducing her to the ever-patient Juniper. She sent reassuring photos of Molly on long adventurous walks and looking very much at home on the sofa. Thank you!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
