“Debbie and her family are really lovely and took great care of Mungo. They were very accommodating to changes in timings. He was a very happy boy when I picked him up and had lots of fun playing with their dog Mabel.”

“Dolly was so excited to be going back to Julie and Steve, and I could see immediately how much she is loved there. It was wonderful to get so much feedback during her stay, and lots of happy photographs. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Julie and Steve again, they are my number one sitters.”

“Grant provides a very thorough approach to his service. He takes it seriously, as he should. It's his reputation and he wants to provide the best. But I hope in time we can trust each other, so he can relax a bit more. Poppy herself had a lovely time. She can come across as being a bit excitable to start with but she settles down quickly. She would have thoroughly enjoyed the walks that Grant provides. Dates already booked in again for further holidays.”

“Abbigael provides consistently great care for my dog. He is always relaxed, calm and happy when he returns to me. She sends brilliant pictures too, showing him on wonderful beach and countryside walks. His paw was a bit tender when I dropped him off this time and she looked after that too. She is a great dog sitter!”

“Tucker loved his holiday with Melia. We had daily photos, videos and updates. Really great communication throughout the booking process and after. Would definitely recommend and will be using her again.”

“We were delighted with our dog's stay at Patricia's house. It was obvious that Patricia has a genuine love and care for all dogs! She went above and beyond to ensure our dog Basil was settled in and happy after we left him and we were extremely grateful for this. Patricia's dog and Basil got on very well enjoying walks together and play. We received regular updates and photos which was very reassuring. We have no hesitation in recommending Patricia as a wonderful sitter for your dog.”

“Lynh was great. Communication was excellent and she took charge of our girl from the moment we dropped her off, which made the handover very easy. Lynh really looked after our girl and sent regular updates and photo's. Our dog seemed very happy and relaxed with her stay.”

“Cristina and her daughter took amazing care of Yuki while I was away over Christmas. The photos and videos I got everyday really showed that he was treated as part of the family which really brought me peace of mind (they even bought him a Christmas present). Yuki seemed so happy with them and I would 100% take him back to stay with Cristina.”

“We were a bit apprehensive about leaving our rescue staffy for the first time. Rhiannon was really great from the offset. She is quick at responding to communications, and followed Blue’s routine well. She sent some photos during his stay and he looked very settled and happy. He is reactive to other dogs, and can be very excitable so we were a bit worried how he would get on. He was absolutely fine, and we will definitely be asking Rhiannon to look after him again soon.”

“Absolutely perfect care for our Olly We we’re kept updated every day with messages photos and videos which made leaving him so much easier.Rachel was happy to treat Olly like her own little dog Cutie and we will definitely have Rachel and Cutie look after him again”

I felt completely comfortable leaving Beau overnight, and he was safe, well looked after and happy to gets lots of cuddles. I'd definitely book again and highly recommend Jennifer!”

What can I say about the service provided to Angus by Abbigael except that it was amazing. From the meet and greet to the daily updates via WhatsApp, this is a service I would very highly recommend. If anyone needs their dog house sat I seriously don't think you can go wrong by booking your dog with Abbigael and Alexander. Top class service by true dog lovers. 10/10.
Molly had a great 10 days with Abbie, Alex and Juniper. Abbie took great care in finding out about her needs, meeting her a couple of times beforehand and introducing her to the ever-patient Juniper. She sent reassuring photos of Molly on long adventurous walks and looking very much at home on the sofa. Thank you!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
