Anne was amazing . Our wee dog Maci is a very fussy eater and is also recovering from a back injury. Anne couldn't do enough to make Macis stay comfortable ,puting down extra mats to keep her from slipping and also cooking for her. She kept in touch and allowed us a stress free time away. She brushed her too ! Maci looked great and when we picked her up .. can't thank her enough.

Rudi absolutely loved his stay with Kirsty and the kids who are all amazing with dogs -and in general- thanks to their excellent Mum. He was comfortable from the very first minute and was treated as part of the family. He came home happy and relaxed! Thank you so much! ☺️

About: Ive had 2 dogs for the last 17yrs . Of which we had 2 litters from . I adored the whole journey from puppy to seniors all come with different challenges and demands but Sooo rewarding to have relationships and experiences together. Since my 2 dogs have passed find myself caring for friends and family's pets .. so it seems the natural order to board for those who dont have that facility. I love having the company of dogs in my home. Gets me out exploring our beautiful walks . I am at home most days although I have an art workshop close by so can often be found there. In which case the dogs come with me and have space to raom there securely too. So I am around for enjoying each other's company and there for treats cuddles and toilet breaks . I live in a home with both front and back garden both fully enclosed . Although I do like to make use of our many gorgeous walks locally so aren't stuck in one place all day. I can offer a crate for your dog to sleep in if required although happily have them loose if they prefer.

Marley had a great stay with John and his two dogs, being looked after really well. Communication with John was excellent throughout the whole process, which was really important to us. We had to book a stay for Marley at the last minute and we arranged a meet for us all to confirm if we wanted to go ahead - giving us confidence John was the right person to look after Marley. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend John and we will be using his services again.

Ginevra and Nic were absolutely fabulous from start to finish! Originally, we had booked Bella in for daycare with Ginevra for a few days while we were on holiday (our family members were going to watch Bella overnight), but due to a very last minute change in circumstances, we needed to board her for 5 nights. Ginevra not only accommodated our late change of plans, but she also went out of her way to help us make sure we were able to switch our booking on Rover without incurring any additional fees. Ginevra provided a very helpful checklist to help us pack Bella's overnight bag, and thoughout Bella's stay, she and Nic kept us up to date with plenty of pictures and videos of Bella's adventures with. Bella had such a lovely time with them! When we picked her up at the end of her stay, Ginevra and Nic even gave us an adorable report card with details about Bella's time with them. We are honestly so impressed with the level of love, care, and detail they have shown towards Bella and to us. They really gave us such a peace of mind, and we have no doubt we will be using their boarding service again soon!

Katie and Lorimer were excellent with Alfie. He is quite nervous when meeting new people but they gave him space until he felt comfortable with them. They took him for lots of lovely walks and gave him lots of play time in the garden. They kept us updated with plenty of photos of him which kept our minds at ease as this was the first time we had ever left him with a pet sitter. Would highly recommend them and will be using them again.

Matthew was great with Marty. We know he can be a bit barky with new people and situations, but Matthew was unphased and knew how to keep him calm. From the photos it looked like Marty made himself very much at home and he was a happy boy when I collected him in the morning.

Elizabeth took such incredible care of Daphne. She is very caring and considerate and has a lovely warm energy. Daphne loved her! Daphne also unexpectedly started heat whilst with Elizabeth and she managed it very well. She also went above and beyond, washing/grooming Daphne and bring her to our wedding to be our ring bearer before taking her away again. We will most definitely use Elizabeth again!

About: I’ve been around dogs most of my life starting from watching neighbours furry friends to now enjoying life with my Cocker Spaniel - Rollo. I always try to give every dog a home boarding experience that makes them feel comfortable and like they are in a home away home. Our daily and weekly routine is as follows. 7am - I complete breakfast time and morning walks allowing the doggies to enjoy waking up, enjoying locating sticks, sniffing spots and exploring till 9am. 9am-12 - Working from home I ensure the dogs have constant supervision with the doggies free to enjoy the garden and partioned part of the house until 12. 12-3pm - After the afternoon walk (12-1.30pm) we have rest time where the doggies can enjoy relaxing in the house, watching Bluey or dog TV and the most important things (doggy yoghurt ice lolly and cuddles). If everyone has been good we stop at Starbucks for a well deserved Puppacino. 3-5pm - I usually finish work by 5pm where I organise dinner time and evening adventures (Roslin Glen, Musselburgh Lagoons & Holyrood Park are my favourite evening walks). 8-10pm - Winding down time is where we begin to get settled in for the night with relaxing in the garden and movie night with popcorn. Each dog is different and we make sure to make them feel comfortable and make their stay with us as much as like being at home as possible. For dogs boarding with us my non negotiable is that every dog upon arrival will be checked in and issued with a GPS collar with our contact details

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Cassandra and her family. They were honestly amazing with our dogs and made the whole thing so easy for us. Even when there were a couple of little tummy issues with one of our dogs, she handled it so calmly and kept us updated, which really put our minds at ease. It’s never easy leaving your dogs with someone else, but we felt completely comfortable knowing they were being so well looked after. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for better. Such a lovely family — would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for someone to care for their dogs.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
