“Thank you so much Anne for taking such lovely care of our energetic, adolescent, oddball of a pup! We really appreciated getting updates and he clearly had a lovely weekend going on different adventures!! It’s clear Anne has lots of patience and love for all types of pups, putting in effort to understand their personality 🐶 Would definitely recommend to others!”

“Kirsty is an absolute gem! As a dog sitter, she showed exceptional patience and understanding, always keeping me updated about Charlie's adventures. She made sure Charlie felt comfortable and at ease, even when he had his little tantrums or zoomies! Her ability to manage his energetic outbursts was impressive. The drop-off service was a huge time-saver for me, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches. I'm so grateful to have found Kirsty - she's a trusted and reliable dog sitter who truly cares about the furry friends in her care. Five stars isn't enough - I'd give her ten stars if I could! 🐾❤️”

“What a lovely couple and so nice to get Skye back well exercised and clearly having enjoyed her time. Claire sent me a message daily with an update on how Skye was with a photo or video which meant we could totally relax that she was in good hands. Clare was incredibly accommodating when I had to change details and really quick to reply. In short, I would not hesitate for a second to recommend your dog stayed with Clare, she was amazing.”

“I couldn't recommend Marcela enough! This was the first time I'd left my puppy with a dog sitter, so I was naturally a bit little nervous, but she made the whole experience so easy! She made sure I felt comfortable, kept me updated with lots of photos and videos, and it was clear Picanha was happy and well looked after 😍 Marcela was also really reliable and flexible with timings, which I really appreciated. You can tell she genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after. I'll definitely book with her again in the future, and I'd happily recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy dog sitter. Thanks so much, Marcela ❤️”

“Rocky had the best time with Dani and Dougie. We got regular updates about all his walks and the people he met who all loved him. We got photos and you could see how happy he was everytime. Dont think he was happy about us picking him up from his holiday from home. He was spoiled. Would recommend to everyone and will book again without a doubt. Thank you Dani and Dougie 🐾”

We are so lucky to have found you for our precious boy. Thanks again John x”

Jessica sent updates throughout the day and gave Kipper such a nice day. We could not have asked for more.”

“We couldn’t ask for a better sitter for Loki. Derek looked after him for 4 days while we were away. He kept us updated with pictures and videos on daily basis. It’s clear that both Derek and his wife are great dog sitters. They both made sure Loki was getting his medicine regularly, lots of walks, and even good night sleeps in their own bed. Loki was really happy when we picked him up; looked well fed and brushed. He clearly got all the attention and love he needed, while we could enjoy our holidays.”

“Katie and Lorimer were excellent with Alfie. He is quite nervous when meeting new people but they gave him space until he felt comfortable with them. They took him for lots of lovely walks and gave him lots of play time in the garden. They kept us updated with plenty of photos of him which kept our minds at ease as this was the first time we had ever left him with a pet sitter. Would highly recommend them and will be using them again.”

Absolutely the best dog sitters I have ever met. They went out of their way to make our rescue greyhound feel comfortable and cared for. Nothing was too much trouble. We received regular updates and photos. Our girl had such a good time that she didn’t want to leave them. They both have a wonderful way with dogs. Thank you again, we couldn’t have wished for better sitters.

Anne was great with Baxter. We left Baxter with Anne while we were away on holiday and it was great knowing he was in such good hands. He was really well looked after, happy and clearly had a brilliant time. Anne provided regular updates which gave us real peace of mind while we were away, and we wouldn’t hesitate to leave him with Anne again in the future. Thanks so much for taking such good care of him!

Highly recommend Jemma and Keira. They looked after Freya as if she were their own and despite being timid, she was so comfortable by the end! Also provided plenty of updates for me upon request, and were flexible when I asked for another day of care. Really impressed!

Nicky watched our wee pomeranian Snowy & she is absolutely amazing with him ❤️ Snowy fell in love with Nicky straight away & guarded her with his life 🤣 He wouldn't even allow her husband to go near her🙈🤣 Nicky is so sweet, welcoming & kind, she sent me lots of photos of Snowy & any updates 💕 We will definitely have Nicky watch Snowy again 💕 I highly recommend Nicky 💯💕

My rescue dog Bonnie had the best time with Emer. I got some lovely updates while we were away on their activities which included a trip to an agility dog park and a pup cup... Bonnie seemed disappointed to be leaving them at the end of the weekend, which is a huge testament to the care and attention she would have gotten. Thanks so much to you both for giving Bon such a wonderful weekend 😊

Jo looked after our dog for 2 weeks and was very accommodating of his little quirks. I felt like he was in a really safe pair of hands, as well as having doggy company with Jo’s own dog. Jo has great communication both ahead of the stay and regular updates while we were on holiday.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Cassandra and her family. They were honestly amazing with our dogs and made the whole thing so easy for us. Even when there were a couple of little tummy issues with one of our dogs, she handled it so calmly and kept us updated, which really put our minds at ease. It’s never easy leaving your dogs with someone else, but we felt completely comfortable knowing they were being so well looked after. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for better. Such a lovely family — would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for someone to care for their dogs.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
