Thank you so much Nicky what a lifesaver - she was willing to take a booking quite last minute to help when I needed some doggy day care for Sunny. Got updates through the day, Nicky made sure to ask all the right questions and I felt totally comfortable leaving him with her knowing he’d be well looked after. Will definitely use again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

About: Hi, I’m Gavin. I’m a caring and responsible pet sitter based in Bonnyrigg. I work part-time from home, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to give your pet the attention they deserve. I live in a detached house with my own secure, fenced garden – perfect for playtime and safe outdoor breaks. I share my home with my friendly 2-year-old German Shepherd, who loves company and enjoys making new dog friends. My love for animals started early – as a teenager, I raised two cats and cared for them throughout their lives. That experience taught me patience, responsibility, and how to understand different pet personalities. Now, I’m confident caring for both dogs and cats, from playful pups and kittens to seniors who need gentler care. I’ll treat them like family. I work part-time from home, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to give your pet the attention they deserve. Home most of the day = lots of cuddles, play, and walkies I live in a detached house with my own secure, fenced garden – perfect for playtime and safe outdoor breaks. About: Ive had 2 dogs for the last 17yrs . Of which we had 2 litters from . I adored the whole journey from puppy to seniors all come with different challenges and demands but Sooo rewarding to have relationships and experiences together. Since my 2 dogs have passed find myself caring for friends and family's pets .. so it seems the natural order to board for those who dont have that facility. I love having the company of dogs in my home. Gets me out exploring our beautiful walks . I am at home most days although I have an art workshop close by so can often be found there. In which case the dogs come with me and have space to raom there securely too. So I am around for enjoying each other's company and there for treats cuddles and toilet breaks . I live in a home with both front and back garden both fully enclosed . Although I do like to make use of our many gorgeous walks locally so aren't stuck in one place all day. I can offer a crate for your dog to sleep in if required although happily have them loose if they prefer.

Charles spent the whole day with Naomi and her adorable furry family yesterday. Her calm nature put me at ease as soon as we arrived in the morning, I knew straight away Charles would be in great hands. You can tell she is a dog person and really knows their needs. I highly recommend Naomi’s services. 😊

About: I’ve been around dogs most of my life starting from watching neighbours furry friends to now enjoying life with my Cocker Spaniel - Rollo. I always try to give every dog a home boarding experience that makes them feel comfortable and like they are in a home away home. Our daily and weekly routine is as follows. 7am - I complete breakfast time and morning walks allowing the doggies to enjoy waking up, enjoying locating sticks, sniffing spots and exploring till 9am. 9am-12 - Working from home I ensure the dogs have constant supervision with the doggies free to enjoy the garden and partioned part of the house until 12. 12-3pm - After the afternoon walk (12-1.30pm) we have rest time where the doggies can enjoy relaxing in the house, watching Bluey or dog TV and the most important things (doggy yoghurt ice lolly and cuddles). If everyone has been good we stop at Starbucks for a well deserved Puppacino. 3-5pm - I usually finish work by 5pm where I organise dinner time and evening adventures (Roslin Glen, Musselburgh Lagoons & Holyrood Park are my favourite evening walks). 8-10pm - Winding down time is where we begin to get settled in for the night with relaxing in the garden and movie night with popcorn. Each dog is different and we make sure to make them feel comfortable and make their stay with us as much as like being at home as possible. For dogs boarding with us my non negotiable is that every dog upon arrival will be checked in and issued with a GPS collar with our contact details

Ivy can be nervous in new surroundings so it was very reassuring to receive a mid morning update from Naveen with photos. Ivy seems to have had a great time playing in the big back garden and going on an interesting walk, then quiet time resting back home. Looking forward to more bookings! Thank you Naveen xx

About: I was a dog walker for around 2 years pre covid. I love all breeds and sizes of dogs! My partner and son who I live with share my love for dogs.. thankfully! I am a self employed cleaner in houses around my street, I will always be close to home. We are an outdoor loving family (son goes to outdoor nursery) and are always going on walks in the fields behind us/woods around our town. *please note, we are located in the EH22 postcode area* I have a fenced back garden and I have space for a dog crate if need be. Pets can be fed inside or outside, whichever is preferred. My partner Michael, who can be seen in my profile picture, will be home with myself when caring for your pet. He's also a pet lover who is brilliant at giving ear and belly rubs. If your pet is up to it, they can have a go in his work van!

About: Hello, I'm Ewa I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by them, and in Poland I have three dogs of my own – two small and one medium-sized. Since moving to the UK, I miss them very much, so spending time with dogs here brings me real happiness. Looking after dogs has always been a natural part of my life. I've cared for my own dogs as well as dogs belonging to family and friends. I enjoy long walks, playtime and quiet moments too. Every dog is different, so I always take the time to understand their routine and make them feel safe and comfortable. I offer dog walking, home visits, daycare and care in my own home. I live in a quiet flat with access to a large shared garden. To make sure every dog gets plenty of attention, I only welcome one dog at a time (or two from the same household). I have very flexible working hours, so I can easily find time for walks with your pet. Sometimes I have to go away for a few weeks on business, but I think that everything can be arranged and adjusted. I make sure every pet is safe, comfortable and well cared for. I always follow the owner’s instructions, including feeding and walking routines. I live in a tenement with access to a large garden, where dogs can enjoy fresh air under supervision. I also provide regular walks, attention and a calm, pet-friendly environment. I treat every pet with care and make sure they feel relaxed and secure.

Daisy absolutely thrived with Clara. She is usually a bit shut down the first time she stays at someone new, and I never expect her to eat her food on the first day nor have a poop but she did both! Clara sent me a lot of photos of a very happy Daisy, which, once again, was unusual because Daisy doesn't like her photo taken. I could tell that she felt straight at home and she didn't even want to leave when I came to pick her up, she took a toy and put it in another room to show me she loved it here! She managed a nap in the sun in the garden during the day and Clara updated me on everything exciting that happened that day. We are definitely going to book again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Midlothian on Rover is £26.45 per day (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 904 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in Midlothian. About 86% of Midlothian sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day cover for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Midlothian commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
