We were really nervous about leaving our two dogs with someone new as they both suffer from anxiety and they haven’t spent much time away from our family. Allison put us at ease and her communication skills were really good. She clearly has a lot of experience and understands dog behaviour well. Thank you Allison for taking good care of our girls.

About: I’ve been mama to our sausage dog Hamish for seven years. He’s battled IVDD so I’m experienced in caring for IVDD survivors and understand the challenges small dogs face. I’ll give your small dog the care and attention it needs and will care for it as if it’s my own. Contact me for weekend availability as required. I might be able to accommodate some weekend stays / visits. I’m currently freelance and work from home. I set my own hours and totally flexible so I can look after up to two small dogs in my house giving them ample play time and pee breaks as needed. I live near fields and cute walking paths meaning your dog can enjoy all the smells of nature! For cats I can drop into your home for cuddles, comfort and chunkies. I have a secure garden for toilet breaks and plenty blankets and beds for naps. I have ramps up to the sofa and a no stair policy to protect delicate small dog backs - my dog is an IVDD survivor so safety in the home is really important to me.

I am an all-weather dog walker, offering tailored walks to suit your dogs needs. Whether it's a short round-the-block followed by fun and games at home, or a longer run to burn off some excess energy, there really is no walk too big or small. Experienced and confident with reactive dogs, sensitive dogs, high-energy dogs, and everything in between, I pride myself on my ability to understand dog behaviour. I will let your dog get to know me at their own pace, and only ever use positive, motivating, reward-based training. I cannot wait to meet you and your four-legged pals As a teacher my availability is pretty much matched to school term dates, with evenings, weekends and school holidays being the best times for me to visit, walk and look after your dogs. I'm delighted to be able to accommodate dog boarding and house-sitting so that you can provide your dogs with the bespoke care they need while you are away. About: Hello, I'm Caroline, a lifelong dog lover and proud dog mum to three wonderful dogs—two rescued Spanish Galgos and one small Jack Russell. Dogs aren't just pets to me, they're family. My own dogs are at the heart of everything I do, and I know how difficult it can be to leave them in someone else's care. That's why I offer a genuine home-from-home experience where every dog is treated with the same love, patience, and kindness as my own. Having cared for rescue dogs with different personalities and needs, I understand that every dog is unique. Whether they're energetic and playful, a little shy, or simply enjoy a quiet cuddle on the sofa, I'll take the time to get to know them and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I believe dogs thrive in a calm, caring home environment where they receive plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and routine. Your dog's happiness, wellbeing, and safety will always be my top priority, and I'll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax, knowing they're having their own little holiday. When your dog stays with me, they won't just be boarded—they'll become part of the family. As a stay at home Dog Mum, Wife & Mum, your pet will never be alone or feel lonely. I have a laid back home, relaxed & easy going. There are some lovely walks in the area & an enclosed dog park that can be booked at an additional cost if you'd like to include that in your dogs stay. Walks will be on-lead as safety is paramount whilst in my care. A typical day would include up early, breakfast, walk then weather dependent they can come & go in the secure back garden. Afternoon walk, dinner time & an evening stroll before settling down for the night. I have a fully fenced/gated back garden & the dogs just come in & out as they please. When the sun is out the outdoor beds are placed in the shade with ample fresh water & doggy toys.

About: I had a menagerie of pets growing up, from hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits, to two family dogs. Raising a family of my own now, I’d love for my children to experience a live-in dog; from cuddles to walks, poo-bags to slobber. My children are very affectionate but respectful, and would love the opportunity to learn some of the responsibilities attached to having a pet at home. We have a large garden, surrounded by large conifers. Unfortunately it is not entirely fenced off, and we are prone to wildlife such as foxes and hedgehogs frequenting, as well as neighbouring cats, so good recall would be required off-lead. However, we will also include plenty of walks 😊. I work within primary school hours, primarily from home. So could include walks to/from school, alongside a lunch time or evening walk. Being at home all day, your pet would never be alone. They would have plenty of opportunities for cuddles, and play when the kids come home. We can tailor the care of your pet to your individual needs/energy levels. Some of our intended care plans have been described above, but happy to discuss in more detail, on contact.

About: I grew up with an excitable boxer and love dogs of all shapes and sizes. Ideally would be delighted to look after dogs that are friendly with children as I often look after my niece and nephew. I work full time hybrid-remote. My working hours are between 0700 and 1500. I would be in office on Tuesdays and Fridays, but would be home from 4pm onwards. I have a fenced garden and enjoy going on long walks once I finish work as I regularly take part in walking challenges. I have no others pets at the moment and we are currently child-free though I’m sure my young niece and nephew would love to join us for walks.

About: I grew up with a stupidly friendly Rottweiler, and plenty cats. While my family didn't get another dog after Anushka, we did rescue many stray cats, giving them the kind of life their domestic counterparts would have been jealous of. After years of living in rental properties, it was only upon buying our own house that we got the chance to get pets. We picked up sibling kittens, Billie and Weegie, from Glasgow soon after moving in. Then came Cooper, the single most handsome chocolate Labrador in the whole world, and Yakul, a Red Setter with no shortage of character. We raised and trained both dogs, with help from a local professional, to a respectable standard. Neither is going to win Crufts anytime soon, but they have decent recall. It's a bit of a bureaucratic inconvenience, but I tend to go by my middle name, Richard. Rest assured, the Konrad in my profile and the Richard in my testimonies/reviews are the same person, Konrad Richard Taeuber. I work from home several days a week. While the 2 cats come and go as they please, the 2 dogs, Yakul and Cooper, are my co-workers. I generally take the doggos for a walk in the afternoon, and then again in the evening. We have a reasonably small-medium sized garden with plenty of green space to explore. It's more of a racetrack than circuit, but it's a zoomie-friendly space. Walls and fences separate our garden from neighbours. The fence could be jumped by a particularly leggy dog, but we haven't had any issues yet.

Using Rover for the first time was daunting, but I trust our Knuffel’s instinct — and he walked straight into Kirsty and David’s house and immediately flopped over for a belly rub. Communication with Kirsty was easy, and she was wonderfully flexible with pick‑up time, which made the whole experience even smoother. Getting pictures throughout the day of him in his usual happy pose — paws in the air, fast asleep — was reassuring and meant we could enjoy our day without worrying. We’ll definitely rebook with Kirsty and David again.

We feel like the luckiest family ever to have found these two wonderful, caring ladies to look after our baby. They love her as much as we do and we really feel so relieved knowing she is not only being very carefully looked after but being shown the love they show their own beautiful dogs. We absolutely love that we get hand written daily schedules with little cute notes and advice, also a score of how good Orla has been(only ever 10’s so far!) hehe but it’s just another thoughtful thing they do to show us how much the care. We are so lucky they really know how to train dogs too and are helping us massively by training Orla too! We get lots of pics, videos and messages throughout the day to keep us in the loop and it’s brilliant seeing Orla have a great day. We honestly can’t believe how lucky we are having two new aunties and 3 new cousins for our Orla. Highly highly recommend Ginevra & her partner to look after your furry babies.

About: I've had dogs all my life and currently have two friendly small recue dogs who get along well with other dogs. I'm a huge animal lover and genuinely enjoy spending time with pets, making sure they're happy, comfortable and well cared for. I love being outdoors and going for long walks, so your dog can look forward to plenty of exercise, attention and enjoyable adventures. Having recently moved to Edinburgh and taken a break from teaching, I have lots of time and flexibility to dedicate to caring for your pets throughout the day. I understand how important it is to find someone you trust with your furry family members, and I will care for them as if they were my own. My goal is to ensure every pet feels safe, loved and happy while you are away. I will send plenty of updates too. I'm an early riser so befornmy morning coffee I will take the dogs out for a 45 minute walk. When we come back we have a cuddle on the sofa while I have my morning coffee. I will be home with them most of the day and if I am going anywhere my partner works from home so she will be home with them instead. I will take them out again between 3-5 for a longer walk between 1 - 2 hours long depending on what dogs I have an whether they prefer longer or shorter walks. I have a fully fenced garden and two friendly dogs. One can be initially grumpy but he's 9 now so soon gets over it. I will love your pet as if they were my own and they will soon become part of the family.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in East Lothian on Rover is £40.25 per day (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 877 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in East Lothian. About 87% of East Lothian sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day cover for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your East Lothian commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
