Genuinely can’t thank Justyna enough for the care provided for our two dogs at short notice , Justyna even fitted in a meet and greet so quickly. Julie is amazing, and clearly very experienced with cats. My cat Loki can be quite shy, but he felt right at home with Julie. She spent quality time with him, which is what he craves most when we’re away, and sent loads of updates. From the videos, it was very clear how much Loki enjoyed her company.

Perfect experience with Steph from start to finish. She was communicative, friendly, and immediately connected with Penny. I had total peace of mind that my little madam was well looked-after - regular updates with pics, plenty of playtime and enrichment. Returned to a clean home, thoughtful gifts, and a happy cat. Will definitely book again!

About: I had a menagerie of pets growing up, from hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits, to two family dogs. Raising a family of my own now, I’d love for my children to experience a live-in dog; from cuddles to walks, poo-bags to slobber. My children are very affectionate but respectful, and would love the opportunity to learn some of the responsibilities attached to having a pet at home. We have a large garden, surrounded by large conifers. Unfortunately it is not entirely fenced off, and we are prone to wildlife such as foxes and hedgehogs frequenting, as well as neighbouring cats, so good recall would be required off-lead. However, we will also include plenty of walks 😊. I work within primary school hours, primarily from home. So could include walks to/from school, alongside a lunch time or evening walk. Being at home all day, your pet would never be alone. They would have plenty of opportunities for cuddles, and play when the kids come home. We can tailor the care of your pet to your individual needs/energy levels. Some of our intended care plans have been described above, but happy to discuss in more detail, on contact.

About: I have taken care of dogs for 15 years, my Dalmatian; Sophie is turning 13 soon, she’s been with me since she was 9 weeks old. I did obedience and tricks training with her. I’m available for boarding in the weekend or during the week after 6 pm. My partner and I work on week days, we are hybrid and work from home half of the time. My partner can also take your dog with himself when he has to go out. He is a sales manager and visits bars, restaurants, dogs’ favourite places! Evenings and weekends are my turn to care for your pup. We have a fenced garden behind our flat. We live on the beach, can provide plenty of long walks as needed. Very quiet place, quiet neighbourhood.

There are many good things i can say about Eilidh. But really its the cats opinions that matter. Trudie likes Eilidh, she likes everyone. Bea, hides when the door goes, Bea does not talk to strangers and takes a while to warm up to my friends. Bea liked Eilidh instantly! Bea was comfortable from the second the met. She came to say hello, she allowed brushing and wanted cuddles. That is very rare and the biggest commendation I can give. Id a better break knowing my girls were happy, fed, brushed and content with eilidh.

About: I’m a lifelong dog lover who has grown up with dogs and cared for a variety of breeds throughout my life. While I don’t have professional dog sitting experience, I have plenty of hands-on experience caring for dogs as part of my family. I live with my husband, two children and our friendly family dog, who are all great with other dogs. Your dog will be welcomed into a loving home environment where they’ll receive lots of attention, affection, exercise, and playtime. We have a good sized, fully enclosed garden where dogs can safely explore and play throughout the day, as well as access to regular walks and plenty of opportunities for enrichment. I understand how important it is to know your dog is happy, safe, and well cared for, and I will treat your pet as if they were one of my own. As I work in education, I am primarily available for dog boarding and daycare during school holidays. During these periods, I am at home throughout the day, allowing me to provide plenty of supervision, companionship, exercise and care for your dog. I have a good-sized, fully enclosed and secure garden where dogs can safely play, explore and enjoy time outdoors throughout the day. I share my home with a friendly, neutered Labrador cross German Wirehaired Pointer who is well socialised with other dogs. She is calm, respectful and understands when another dog would prefer their own space. I also have two dog-savvy children, aged 10 and 14, who have grown up around dogs and understand the importance of treating them gently and respectfully. I appreciate that every dog is different and will work to maintain their usual routine as much as possible. If your dog is crate trained or uses a crate for rest, sleep or downtime, I am happy to accommodate this. I will provide a safe, loving family environment where your dog will receive plenty of attention, exercise, enrichment and care while you’re away.

Anna was fantastic when looking after Apollo and Ares. She even managed to befriend Ares who is usually elusive and doesn't engage with people. Photos and videos were plentiful! We had a difficult situation with a broken lock on the second to last day, which could've happened to anyone, but Anna made sure the cats were fed through their cat flap and got in touch quickly so we could arrange a locksmith to resolve the issue. I'd happily recommend Anna to anyone needing their cats looked after!

About: I don’t own any pets now but I have grown up with dogs all of my life and I always looked after our family and friends pets. I live on a ground floor flat with a garden connection where your dog can play safetly with me between walks in a park. Also I am able to look after your fav in your own home. * I am less flexible now, because my work requires to be in the office more often. Please message me and we can discuss further. * I can only offer boarding, can’t offer stayover in your home. At my home I can offer what the dog would need. * *

We asked Georgia to come to take our dog Cookie for a walk and keep her company as we were at our daughter's wedding. Georgia is a very nice young women. She was there on time. Kept us posted about was she was doing with Cookie and sent us photos, which we didn't ask for, but was reassuring. And Cookie was absolutely fine when we came back. So I can very happily recommend Georgia if you need someone to look after your dog.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Yes, absolutely! Many sitters on Rover are experienced in caring for multiple pets simultaneously, whether you have a pack of dogs, a clowder of cats, or a mix of both.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other East Lothian pet parents with similar pet households.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Lothian choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
