“Caity looked after our Cavapoochon Bailey for a week and he had the best time! Lovely walks on the beach and snuggles on the couch - his favourite things to do 😊 Bailey can be a bit anxious and isn't great with other dogs, so having the beach on the doorstep was great for him as he was able to have lovely quiet walks there. Caity was very communicative throughout the week and sent lots of photos of Bailey enjoying himself. Would definitely recommend Caity and hope Bailey will be able to stay with her again”

“This was Tacua’s first ever stay with Rover and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better person than John to take care of him! Tacua was so happy, John was sending daily updates of their walks and you could tell my dog was the happiest and so well taken care of! Can’t recommend John enough and would definitely trust him with Tacua again.”

“Kirsty looked after our two labs overnight when we were holidaying in Edinburgh, to let us attend an event. Kirsty was a fantastic sitter who the girls loved. She kept us updated and sent photos. We would definitely ask Kirsty to look after our girls again! Thank you 🐾”

“Mike and Lorraine are excellent, our dog Baxter is so excited when we drop him off so we know they take great care of him. He also needs medication at set times and Mike always lets us know he’s had it so we don’t have to worry.”

“We left our dog Buddy with Derek and Angela for a few hours and they were fantastic. It was the first time we had left him with anyone and they really made him feel at home and Buddy loved being there. We will definitely use them again.”

“Victoria and her family was fabulous with our dog. They were very attentive and wanting to know everything she needs to stay comfortably. My dog had an operation two weeks before her stay and they truly paid attention as to what will be best for her. The children showered her with love, but were respectful not to overstimulate. The back garden is large, but Rowan was mainly taken for walks, as she was not allow to play too vigorously due to the surgery. She did not want to leave upon my return! Also, I am grateful to Victoria for one favour she did, due to a small mistake I have made.”

“Allison took amazing care of our dog who can sometimes be a little scared and has separation anxiety. We would love to book Allison again to watch over our dog.”

“Rocco had a blast with Anne for the 3 days he was there. Anne loves spending time with your loved dog, and she has great knowledge of fantastic and safe walks for all types of dogs. She also keeps you updated with photos and my Rocco definitely enjoyed his time with Anne. Will be booking again soon. Thanks Anne. Love n licks Rocco And my hoomans Vic and Fiona”

“Thanks again for having Miss Tilly for the weekend. She looks like she had a great time and we got all the story when we got in. We highly recommend Gillian as a wonderful dog minder xxx”

“Vaida was amazing! I have a very shy rescue and she so patient and understanding, both with him and me, (being anxious to leave him with someone new). I have picked up a happy and relaxed pup, will definitely book Vaida again”

“We couldn't be happier with our dogs stay with Kathy and her family. We read the previous reviews which were all positive and we were not disappointed. Callie was made to feel right at home and we were sent photos daily. We wouldn't hesitate booking in with Kathy and her family again!”

About: I grew up with an excitable boxer and love dogs of all shapes and sizes. Ideally would be delighted to look after dogs that are friendly with children as I often look after my niece and nephew. I work full time hybrid-remote. My working hours are between 0700 and 1500. I would be in office on Tuesdays and Fridays, but would be home from 4pm onwards. I have a fenced garden and enjoy going on long walks once I finish work as I regularly take part in walking challenges. I have no others pets at the moment and we are currently child-free though I’m sure my young niece and nephew would love to join us for walks.
“My dog Chloe had a wonderful time staying at Jessicas . She was taken for lovely walks and outings to Dalkeith country park , Longniddry beach and local parks . She had great fun playing with Jessicas two friendly dogs . She was treated as one of the family and allowed freedom of the house and garden . I would definately ask Jessica to look after her again and highly reccomend her to others”

“Bea loved her time with Bronagh and Kathryn! She was delighted to meet them and explore their flat and we actually had to bribe her with treats to leave! They sent us lovely photos and updates so we knew Bea was safe and happy. 10/10 would recommend”

“Clara looked after my dog Chispa very well. Chispa is a rescue dog and can become anxious when left alone. Clara sent photos of Chispa at home and out for a walk where she looked very happy.”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Lothian
First time we've homeboarded our 6year old beagle & he had a fab time! Settled in well with Jess & her 2 dogs and soon made himself at home. We loved getting the daily updates, pic & videos of their walks and home time naps and snuggles. Jess interacted with Skylar, played with him and looked after him very well indeed. There walks were enjoyed in a variety of environments & his off lead time great fun. He responded well to her commands and Jess had a wonderful gentle way with him which he responded to in kind. Reay happy with the care & service Jess provided

We recently left our cocker spaniel, Poppy, with Caity for her first overnight stay, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Caity was warm, friendly and welcoming from the outset, and it was clear she has a great deal of experience with dogs. Poppy settled in really well and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her time there. When we picked her up, she was relaxed, happy and completely at ease, which is always the best indication that she has been well cared for. It gave us real peace of mind knowing that Poppy was in such capable and caring hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Caity to anyone looking for a trustworthy and experienced dog sitter, and we will definitely be booking with her again in the future. 🐾❤️

Victoria and her family were amazing! They took such wonderful care of our dog and applied his medicine. On top of this she was so flexible with my ever changing situation. She was so kind and I very highly recommend her - will definitely use her again should the need arise! Thank you for everything you did.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
