“Mike and Lorraine are excellent, our dog Baxter is so excited when we drop him off so we know they take great care of him. He also needs medication at set times and Mike always lets us know he’s had it so we don’t have to worry.”

“Caity is great! Fred seems to have enjoyed himself and Caity sent me daily updates. I felt Fred was very well looked after and very safe with Caity. I will definitely book Caity again!”

“My dog Chloe had a wonderful time staying at Jessicas . She was taken for lovely walks and outings to Dalkeith country park , Longniddry beach and local parks . She had great fun playing with Jessicas two friendly dogs . She was treated as one of the family and allowed freedom of the house and garden . I would definately ask Jessica to look after her again and highly reccomend her to others”

“Anne was amazing . Our wee dog Maci is a very fussy eater and is also recovering from a back injury. Anne couldn't do enough to make Macis stay comfortable ,puting down extra mats to keep her from slipping and also cooking for her. She kept in touch and allowed us a stress free time away. She brushed her too ! Maci looked great and when we picked her up .. can't thank her enough.”

“Rudi absolutely loved his stay with Kirsty and the kids who are all amazing with dogs -and in general- thanks to their excellent Mum. He was comfortable from the very first minute and was treated as part of the family. He came home happy and relaxed! Thank you so much! ☺️”

They made me feel at ease straight away and could see from the minute they met Buddy they were great with him. Buddy had a fantastic day. Would definitely recommend.”

About: Ive had 2 dogs for the last 17yrs . Of which we had 2 litters from . I adored the whole journey from puppy to seniors all come with different challenges and demands but Sooo rewarding to have relationships and experiences together. Since my 2 dogs have passed find myself caring for friends and family's pets .. so it seems the natural order to board for those who dont have that facility. I love having the company of dogs in my home. Gets me out exploring our beautiful walks . I am at home most days although I have an art workshop close by so can often be found there. In which case the dogs come with me and have space to raom there securely too. So I am around for enjoying each other's company and there for treats cuddles and toilet breaks . I live in a home with both front and back garden both fully enclosed . Although I do like to make use of our many gorgeous walks locally so aren't stuck in one place all day. I can offer a crate for your dog to sleep in if required although happily have them loose if they prefer.
“I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. They made me feel completely at ease about leaving my dog in their care. It was clear they genuinely cared about him and took the time to build a real bond with him over the week. They made him feel so welcome that it truly became his home away from home. We received lovely updates, photos, and messages throughout his stay, which gave us so much reassurance and allowed us to relax knowing he was happy, safe, and well looked after. I can’t thank them enough for the love, care, and attention they gave him. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dedicated to looking after their furry family member.”

“Jemma and Keira welcomed our dogs into their home and made it a home from home while we were away. They took them on doggy adventures above and beyond expectations. They were both well looked after.”

“Debbie was professional, caring, and kept me updated throughout Rusty’s stay, giving me complete peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands! I picked up a very happy dog and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Debbie to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy pet sitter. Thank you so much Debbie!!”

“Marcela is a lovely sitter and would highly recommend. Marcela updated me regularly throughout the day with photos and videos. My dog was very comfortable and happy in her home. If you want peace of mind, you won’t go wrong by booking in with Marcela!”

“Shannon was very competent and professional. She was interested in Willows routine and habits. Willow seemed to settle in quite quickly and Shannon sent plenty of photos throughout the stay. I would recommend Shannon as a dog sitter.”

“Victoria and her family was fabulous with our dog. They were very attentive and wanting to know everything she needs to stay comfortably. My dog had an operation two weeks before her stay and they truly paid attention as to what will be best for her. The children showered her with love, but were respectful not to overstimulate. The back garden is large, but Rowan was mainly taken for walks, as she was not allow to play too vigorously due to the surgery. She did not want to leave upon my return! Also, I am grateful to Victoria for one favour she did, due to a small mistake I have made.”

“From our very first contact Beatriz was amazing 🤩 She was so calm and welcoming and took amazing care of Murphy, she sent lots of updates and photos and we could see how happy and loved he was. She made a true home from home for our wee puppy and we would not hesitate to book her again. Thank you Beatriz for taking such good care of our fur boy 🥰”

“Barbara was an excellent dog sitter . My dog spent 6 days at her home whilst I was away last week . She was happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand to get to know about him . Barbara was fast to respond to messages , she sent updates and was genuinely interested in taking care of Neo , He was happy and relaxed when I collected him . I would happily ask Barbara to look after Neo in future .”

We couldn’t have been happier with the care Jessica gave Rocky, our little Pomeranian. She was incredibly friendly, caring and professional from start to finish. Before we left Rocky, she answered all our questions and put our minds at ease. During his stay, she sent daily updates and videos, and was always available on the phone if we had any concerns. After we collected him, it was clear how happy and settled he had been. Rocky became so attached to Jessica, which gave us complete confidence that he was genuinely cared for. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave Rocky with her again and highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable and caring dog sitter.
Mel and Damian were absolutely amazing! This was Juno’s first time staying with someone else than our family, so we were so grateful to find someone who are so knowledgeable about dog behaviour, positive, warm, and communicating really well. We can’t recommend them highly enough :)

Caity looked after our spaniel Rufus for a couple of days whilst my partner and I were working. Unfortunately, Rufus had badly injured his foot just before his stay but Caity was amazing with him. Not only did she do a tremendously good job of looking after him, but she was great at keeping us updated with how Rufus was doing. Thank you, Caity, for being so wonderful in such difficult circumstances.

Victoria and her family were amazing! They took such wonderful care of our dog and applied his medicine. On top of this she was so flexible with my ever changing situation. She was so kind and I very highly recommend her - will definitely use her again should the need arise! Thank you for everything you did.

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Scotland may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
