“Lea-Anne came to visit to get to know daisy the lurcher who can be shy for the first meeting but if daisy leans against you then I know she's happy. Lea-Anne is a really lovely girl and you can tell she loves animals, she sent me pictures and kept me updated despite my not being able to reply right away and coming home to a bouncing tail wagging daisy was amazing. I will always love to have Lea-Anne there to look after and care for daisy. I highly recommend Lea-Anne as someone who will genuinely care for your pet”

“Melanie and her partner Damien were outstanding from start to finish. Lovely people and very knowledgeable Our Bonnie is a reactive border collie and can be quite hard work but Damien made us feel extremely comfortable to leave her in his hands. 10/10”

About: I’ve been mama to our sausage dog Hamish for seven years. He’s battled IVDD so I’m experienced in caring for IVDD survivors and understand the challenges small dogs face. I’ll give your small dog the care and attention it needs and will care for it as if it’s my own. Contact me for weekend availability as required. I might be able to accommodate some weekend stays / visits. I’m currently freelance and work from home. I set my own hours and totally flexible so I can look after up to two small dogs in my house giving them ample play time and pee breaks as needed. I live near fields and cute walking paths meaning your dog can enjoy all the smells of nature! For cats I can drop into your home for cuddles, comfort and chunkies. I have a secure garden for toilet breaks and plenty blankets and beds for naps. I have ramps up to the sofa and a no stair policy to protect delicate small dog backs - my dog is an IVDD survivor so safety in the home is really important to me.
“Elmira helped us out at the last minute and looked after our cats and dogs for 24 hours. Despite not having much experience of large breed dogs, she did very well and asked questions openly when unsure. Everyone happy upon return. Would recommend!”

“Would absolutely recommend Sarah! She was so warm and caring and Sadie had a fabulous time with her. Our return time was an hour later than we had anticipated and she was so kind to stay until we got home which was very much appreciated ❤️”

About: I've been around animals all my life including 2 dogs and their long list of K9 friends! I also had a tortoise 🐢 who in the end needed additional care in the form or tube feeding. I can manage walks with dogs up to XL size and any additional needs I am capable of managing. I work sociable hours as a chef in a nursery so my working hours are totally consistent and for local client I can easily manage midday walks or letting your pet out. In the morning say around 0730 your pet will go out for a walk and bathroom run about. In the evenings say around say 1730 your pet will go out again for an evening run about before dinner at 1800. Any pets requested a supper or late evening meal will get them at their routine time. I have been in positions of trust in every job I've ever had. Being a key holder, supervisor and role model to a large team. I have developed a quiet and calm maturity that makes me a fantastic person to rely on and out your precious put into the care of.
“Harriet has been super with Tiger and she has done dog walking, day care and a 2 night dog and house sit. Tiger has a NBF in Harriet’s dog, Rufus, and she (yup Tiger’s a female!) can’t wait for me to go away again.”

About: I'm Jess, and dogs are my absolute world. I've always had dogs in my life. As well as agility training, I'm also an experienced obedience handler, skills trainer and Pets as Therapy handler. I am an all-weather dog walker, offering tailored walks to suit your dogs needs. Whether it's a short round-the-block followed by fun and games at home, or a longer run to burn off some excess energy, there really is no walk too big or small. Experienced and confident with reactive dogs, sensitive dogs, high-energy dogs, and everything in between, I pride myself on my ability to understand dog behaviour. I will let your dog get to know me at their own pace, and only ever use positive, motivating, reward-based training. I cannot wait to meet you and your four-legged pals As a teacher my availability is pretty much matched to school term dates, with evenings, weekends and school holidays being the best times for me to visit, walk and look after your dogs. I'm delighted to be able to accommodate dog boarding and house-sitting so that you can provide your dogs with the bespoke care they need while you are away. For those that come to me I offer a lovely house with a secure garden, and a real home-from-home experience. Equally happy coming to you, I am a clean, tidy, quiet and respectful guest.
“Tracey was great. My first booking with Rover and Tracey was calm and professional with our two rather over excited dogs. I would definately ask Tracey to after the dogs in the future.”

About: Hello! I'm Naomi, a freelance illustrator living here in central Edinburgh. I'm just getting started on Rover and am looking forward to making some furry friends. I grew up surrounded by dogs, everything from a pug/poodle cross to spaniels to a massive bull mastiff! When I moved to Edinburgh for university, I lived with a gorgeous staffy who I helped care for and still miss dearly. After that, I spent a few years in North Wales in a house/cat-sitting arrangement, looking after two lovely cats, Kipper and Syd. Now I'm back in Edinburgh and missing having furry friends around, so I'm looking to pick up some dog walking and sitting work (and I'm happy to look after cats too!). I have a flexible schedule and can tailor visits to whatever your pet needs, whether that's a calm cuddle on the sofa or a proper energetic walk. Looking forward to meeting your pets! As I am freelance I am able to be very flexible and can work around your animals needs and am available throughout the week morning to evening I'll take care to chat with you and learn about your animal's needs. I live with my partner (also a huge dog lover!) in a flat very nearby to both holyrood park and smaller local parks, so can cater walks to how social or adventurous or energetic your dog is. If I am in your home I will be very respectful and careful.
“Kayla took excellent care of our pets, sending regular information and leaving the house super tidy. Our pets may be complex (Annie has diabetes and Cu is a huge guard dog). They both loved her. I would recommend Kayla - she clearly loves animals and is very conscientious.”

About: I've had dogs all my life and currently have two friendly small recue dogs who get along well with other dogs. I'm a huge animal lover and genuinely enjoy spending time with pets, making sure they're happy, comfortable and well cared for. I love being outdoors and going for long walks, so your dog can look forward to plenty of exercise, attention and enjoyable adventures. Having recently moved to Edinburgh and taken a break from teaching, I have lots of time and flexibility to dedicate to caring for your pets throughout the day. I understand how important it is to find someone you trust with your furry family members, and I will care for them as if they were my own. My goal is to ensure every pet feels safe, loved and happy while you are away. I will send plenty of updates too. I'm an early riser so befornmy morning coffee I will take the dogs out for a 45 minute walk. When we come back we have a cuddle on the sofa while I have my morning coffee. I will be home with them most of the day and if I am going anywhere my partner works from home so she will be home with them instead. I will take them out again between 3-5 for a longer walk between 1 - 2 hours long depending on what dogs I have an whether they prefer longer or shorter walks. I have a fully fenced garden and two friendly dogs. One can be initially grumpy but he's 9 now so soon gets over it. I will love your pet as if they were my own and they will soon become part of the family.
“Julia took amazing care of our 10 week old puppy. She was also very flexible and responded to my last minute request. Our puppy was relaxed and sound asleep when we got home. Julia also took very good care of our house and left everything spotless. I would absolutely recommend her to others, she is very friendly and responsible :) Thank you so much!”

About: Animals have always been a part of my life and I have extensive experience in caring for them in all shapes and sizes. I am very active and can keep up with the most energetic puppies and playful cats but am also very patient by nature and find caring for elderly or slower animals just as rewarding. All animals are welcome. I have confidence in caring for anxious animals, administering most medications, and supporting training in younger animals who are still learning. As an independent designer I can work from anywhere at any time so can fit my days around what you and your pets need. I enjoy engaging with animals and take their lead on how much play and exercise time they like without needing to rush back to anything. In all things, the animals comfort comes first. When I am sitting or visiting in home, I prefer to match my schedule with whatever your pet is familiar with to make sure there is as little disruption for them as possible.

About: Hello, I'm Ewa I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by them, and in Poland I have three dogs of my own – two small and one medium-sized. Since moving to the UK, I miss them very much, so spending time with dogs here brings me real happiness. Looking after dogs has always been a natural part of my life. I've cared for my own dogs as well as dogs belonging to family and friends. I enjoy long walks, playtime and quiet moments too. Every dog is different, so I always take the time to understand their routine and make them feel safe and comfortable. I offer dog walking, home visits, daycare and care in my own home. I live in a quiet flat with access to a large shared garden. To make sure every dog gets plenty of attention, I only welcome one dog at a time (or two from the same household). I have very flexible working hours, so I can easily find time for walks with your pet. Sometimes I have to go away for a few weeks on business, but I think that everything can be arranged and adjusted. I make sure every pet is safe, comfortable and well cared for. I always follow the owner’s instructions, including feeding and walking routines. I live in a tenement with access to a large garden, where dogs can enjoy fresh air under supervision. I also provide regular walks, attention and a calm, pet-friendly environment. I treat every pet with care and make sure they feel relaxed and secure.
“Fiona was great! She was quick to get back to us when we were hoping to book. She came round for a cup of tea so she could meet the wee pooch and us. This was ideal as it allowed us a chance to get to know Fiona and exchange info about the dog/house. Whilst we were away, she kept in touch to let us know how everything was going. She very kindly bought cheese slices to disguise our dogs daily medication which we had completely forgotten to sort out or explain! In the photos Tilly looked to be having a lovey time cosied up when home with Fiona and she looked delighted when out adventuring on different walks. The house was in perfect condition when we got home- Fiona even stripped the bed! I would definitely recommend her; reliable, great with communication whilst keeping our pooch happy and healthy.”

“Sarah was great and so accommodating when she looked after my 2 husky's Demon and Keiko and my daughters spaniel Bella in our house whilst we were on holiday for 2 weeks. My 2 have never been left and I was a bit apprehensive leaving them as they are a bit demanding but I had nothing at all to worry about, the puppies loved her and everything was great on our return. She kept in touch with us sending pics and texts on a daily basis, really put my mind at ease. Can't say enough good things about Sarah. Would definitely recommend and will be having her back very soon. Thanks Sarah for everything xx”

About: I am a student in the city with a lot of free time on my hands. I have had cats since I have been five and have plenty of experience with young and old cats, cats with medical issues, and I even helped raise a litter of newborn kittens. I come from a farmstead where my family rescues stray cats and dogs and nurses them back to health to rehome them. I have experience with looking after and owning dogs, namely a family dog raised until she passed from cancer. I supported her through her treatment and end-of-life care, ensuring to provide her with nothing but comfort and joy in the winter of her life. As some of my reviews state, I am also comfortable looking after rodents, having plenty of experience with guinea pigs, rabbits and hamsters.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred East Lothian walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Lothian choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
