“Anna watched our senior dog Austin in our home for a weekend. He settled with her very quickly which we found very reassuring. She sent daily updates and we’ve booked her again. Thanks. ☺️”
“Suet is an absolutely wonderful person and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone who wants their furry babies loved and cared for when they are are away! She is so conscientious and pays such attention to detail, ensuring that she gets the care right for each pet. Our two dogs just loved her and she was very attentive to our elderly cat, who had been unwell recently, and she loved her as well! Suet kept us fully updated every day when we were away with photos and messages, which was so reassuring. Trusting someone to look after your precious fur babies and look after your home is a daunting thought, but I would say that Suet put our minds at rest completely and did the most amazing job and we trust her totally. It's so lovely to know that someone so caring provides such an excellent service. Thank you so much Suet!!”

“A huge thank you to Rhianna for providing my anxious dog with such fantastic care. It was so lovely to receive pictures throughout the day and to hear how they were getting on. I arrived back to a very happy settled dog. Rhianna is lovely, friendly, caring, and communicated really well before and during the day she spent looking after Tyr. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rhianna to others and would love for her to look after Tyr again.”

“Kayla took excellent care of our pets, sending regular information and leaving the house super tidy. Our pets may be complex (Annie has diabetes and Cu is a huge guard dog). They both loved her. I would recommend Kayla - she clearly loves animals and is very conscientious.”

“Fiona was great! She was quick to get back to us when we were hoping to book. She came round for a cup of tea so she could meet the wee pooch and us. This was ideal as it allowed us a chance to get to know Fiona and exchange info about the dog/house. Whilst we were away, she kept in touch to let us know how everything was going. She very kindly bought cheese slices to disguise our dogs daily medication which we had completely forgotten to sort out or explain! In the photos Tilly looked to be having a lovey time cosied up when home with Fiona and she looked delighted when out adventuring on different walks. The house was in perfect condition when we got home- Fiona even stripped the bed! I would definitely recommend her; reliable, great with communication whilst keeping our pooch happy and healthy.”

“Annie was absolutely fantastic with my dog - she was super flexible and accommodating of a very last minute request, and my dog took to her straight away. It was so lovely to know she was being so well looked after! Came home to a very happy dog who clearly had a great time with Annie.”

“Eilis is such a lovely person who really takes the time to understand your dog and their routine, it was clear from their first meeting that Obi adores her! We had peace of mind while leaving Obi for the first time with lots of lovely pupdates and came home to a very contented dog. We've already rebooked with Eilis and would not hesitate to use her services again.”

“Sarah looked after Roman, who suffered complications from his neutering operation. I was nervous about leaving him with someone while I went to work, but I shouldn't have been! Sarah was great; she promptly arrived on time, and the minute she met Roman, I knew she would take good care of him. She kept me up to date throughout the day, and there were no issues at all. I requested that Sarah prevent Roman from licking his incision (which is not an easy task as he has found a way to get to it even wearing two cones of shame!)However, I arrived home to a very happy, content kitty who had not licked his wound all day. I will definitely use Sarah for cat sitting duties again. Roman loved her so much he spent most of last night waiting at the door for her to come back!”

“Would absolutely recommend Sarah! She was so warm and caring and Sadie had a fabulous time with her. Our return time was an hour later than we had anticipated and she was so kind to stay until we got home which was very much appreciated ❤️”

“Really hope Liam comes back. He was a star in every regard, and I can not recommend more highly. Communicative, on-time, trustworthy, respectful, came back to a happy cat and a spotless home. Hope to see you again, Liam, and until then please accept this glowing review!”
“Lea-Anne has looked after our boys in our house twice. She is reliable, communicative and the dogs love her. We have a 3 year old labrador and 1 year old setter, who can both be rambunctious but this is no sweat for Lea-Anne who can confidently handle them and even walk them together.”

“Holly took care of both my cat and my flat, and absolutely nailed it! Gino was clearly living his best life while I was away! I got daily lovely updates, and I came home to a happy cat and a tidy house... honestly not sure I’m needed anymore! Would 100% book again.”

“Melanie and her partner Damien were outstanding from start to finish. Lovely people and very knowledgeable Our Bonnie is a reactive border collie and can be quite hard work but Damien made us feel extremely comfortable to leave her in his hands. 10/10”

About: Giving Your Pets Their Own Little Holiday with Loving Care, Fun Adventures & Plenty of Cuddles I've grown up with dogs and have always been passionate about caring for animals. My pet sitting journey began while I was at school and university, looking after the pets of family and friends. Since then, I've loved giving owners peace of mind while making sure their pets have a wonderful time too. While I have the most experience with dogs, I'm also happy to care for cats. I had a cat for three years, so I'm familiar with their different personalities, routines, and the gentle, patient approach they often appreciate. I like to keep your pet's routine as consistent as possible, so I'll always ask plenty of questions before a booking. I'm also happy to arrange a meet and greet session beforehand to make sure everyone, pets and owners alike, feels comfortable and confident. Whether it's walks, playtime, cuddles, feeding, or simply keeping them company, I'll provide plenty of love, attention, and care while you're away, so your pets can enjoy their own little holiday too! As an avid photographer, I love capturing special moments during our time together. You can expect regular updates, so you'll always know how your pet is getting on. I'll also do my best to capture plenty of adorable moments and maybe even a few fun "selfies" if your pet is happy to pose! I treat every pet as if they were my own and genuinely enjoy getting to know their unique personalities. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! I work full-time, so I’m mainly available for pet care at weekends. During the week, I’m happy to offer cat check-ins, and I have availability on Friday afternoons for dog walks. At weekends, I love getting outdoors and making the most of adventures with dogs, whether that’s exploring a beach, heading up a hill, or discovering new walking routes. I enjoy giving pets plenty of exercise, enrichment, and quality time while they’re in my care. I prefer to care for pets in their own home, as this allows them to stay in a familiar environment where they feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed. Keeping their normal routines, surroundings, and familiar smells helps reduce any stress while their owners are away. I take the time to understand each pet’s needs, habits, and preferences so I can provide care that feels personal and consistent. I also have my own car, which makes it easy to visit, get out and about for walks, adventures, and enrichment while ensuring pets can enjoy plenty of exercise and stimulation.

“Naomi looked after our dogs and house so well. She came before the sit to do a meet and greet, and the dogs were very comfortable around her. Naomi followed their routine and provided enrichment for them, she sent daily updates and photos. The dogs were calm and relaxed when we arrived home, always a good sign! And the house was spotless - we can highly recommend Naomi and will be booking her again before long!”

About: I have grown up with dogs from birth ranging from Jack Russell and German shepherds to rottweilers and now I have a french bulldog. I have 20 years of experience, including medical treatment etc. Looking to make my evening and weekend walks more entertaining by walking a friendly canine at the same time. Often take walks in big parks, on the pentlands or at the beach and also have an SUV to accommodate any breed. I work hybrid and mainly from home so have loads of availability especially evenings and weekends. Love the fresh air and taking a walk. Have no issues with horrid weather either as somebody whom has worked outside often. We have no fence in the garden so therefore have more walks with our dog. Playtime is always available. Can bath if needed and make whatever food required.

“Alexandra was great with our little Chihuahua Floyd. He has never been left with anyone apart from what our family so we were nervous about leaving him. This is the first I’ve used Rover also and happened to come across Alexandra who was close by us and happy to sit in ours to look after him, walk him and sent us pics to update us. We were even running a tiny bit late on our arrival home. We updated her and she was able to hold out until we arrived home. I can’t thank her enough or recommend her any more. Fab sitter, my little guy seems to settle just fine with her also. 5 stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

I cannot thank Ceci enough for taking great care of our cat while we were on holiday for a week. We went for the house sitting option so the cat would have company over night. This worked out great as our cat likes to go outside during the day but be kept in over night. Ceci provided regular updates so we could relax on holiday knowing the cat was safe and happy. Highly recommend Ceci and her pet sitting services!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Midlothian walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Midlothian choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
