Suet Ching once again demonstrated how caring and attentive she is with animals. Seeing how well she looks after Ziggy, and how excited he gets when she walks through the door, I am certain she would make a wonderful veterinary nurse

About: I have five cats of my own, so caring for pets is a big part of my everyday life. They’re all boys and all very different, so I’m used to different personalities, routines, and giving each pet the care and attention they need. I’m comfortable with automatic litter boxes, pet feeders, and water fountains, and I know how important it is to keep everything clean, topped up, and running properly. Looking after my own cats has made me patient, reliable, and very aware of the little things that help pets feel safe, settled, and cared for while you’re away. I work part-time from home and study Law full-time at Edinburgh Napier, so I’m used to managing my time well and have a fairly flexible schedule. I also have my own car, which means I can be flexible with travel and visit times. I have five cats of my own, so caring for pets is part of my everyday routine. At home, I use fully automatic litter trays and clean them daily, including emptying waste, topping up litter, checking the app, and cleaning the sensors to make sure everything is running properly. I also use automatic water fountains and feeders, so I’m used to topping up water regularly (especially with five boys who drink a lot), keeping everything clean, and making sure food is given on a set schedule with the right portion sizes—not too much and not too little. In a pet owner’s home, I’d follow the same level of care and attention, keeping everything clean, consistent, and comfortable for your pet.

Aimee looked after our two furry family members over a weekend while we were away. We had met a few weeks before and saw that there was an immediate match so when the weekend came we were sure everything was in good hands. Aimee made sure our two were well looked after and we are so happy she helped us! It was great to have Aimee’s support and if she will have us again we will definitely ask her to help out again!

Kayla took great care of Korey. We had to travel because a relative is very ill, but we were very worried about our boy because we lost our other dog just a couple of weeks before traveling. But Kayla was very understanding of our concerns, kept us very well updated and took great care of both our dog and the house.

Annie was an absolutely amazing sitter from the very start. As first-time Rover users we were a little hesitant, but she immediately put our minds at ease. While we were away for over a week, Annie looked after our cat, Cheesecake, with such care and attention. She kept us updated with regular messages and photos, which was so reassuring. We came home to a very happy, relaxed cat and a spotless home — plus Annie had even left us a thoughtful card and treats! We couldn’t recommend her highly enough and will definitely be booking her again in the future!

Eilis is such a lovely person who really takes the time to understand your dog and their routine, it was clear from their first meeting that Obi adores her! We had peace of mind while leaving Obi for the first time with lots of lovely pupdates and came home to a very contented dog. We've already rebooked with Eilis and would not hesitate to use her services again.

Lea-Anne came to visit to get to know daisy the lurcher who can be shy for the first meeting but if daisy leans against you then I know she's happy. Lea-Anne is a really lovely girl and you can tell she loves animals, she sent me pictures and kept me updated despite my not being able to reply right away and coming home to a bouncing tail wagging daisy was amazing. I will always love to have Lea-Anne there to look after and care for daisy. I highly recommend Lea-Anne as someone who will genuinely care for your pet

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, so caring for them has always been second nature to me. In 2021, I welcomed my own golden retriever into my life- she truly is the love of my life. I raised, trained, and cared for her myself, and I genuinely think of her as my child. Being separated from her while I’m in the UK (she’s currently living with my parents) has been incredibly hard. In the meantime, I’ve been filling that little dog-shaped gap through numerous dogs I have met in parks, house sitting and dog walking, caring for a wide range of personalities and breeds, from large, energetic Flat Coat Retrievers to anxious, clingy Dachshunds. I’m confident adapting my care to suit each dog’s individual needs, temperament, and routine. I work from home four days a week, so I have plenty of flexibility for walks, companionship, and attentive care. I genuinely love getting outside for fresh air, and there’s no better company than a happy dog. Your dog’s safety, wellbeing, and emotional comfort are my top priorities. I hold myself to the same standard of care that I expect for my own, loving, patient, attentive, and always putting their needs first. Because I work from home four days a week and have a 3 day weekend, pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. I’m able to offer regular walks, consistent companionship, and detailed check-ins throughout the day rather than just quick visits. I enjoy building my day around walk breaks, outdoor time, and play, and I genuinely look forward to having dogs as part of my normal routine. I always follow each dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, whether they’re staying in my home or I’m caring for them in theirs. This includes feeding schedules, walk times, play, rest, and any specific instructions provided. I believe consistency is key to helping dogs feel safe and settled. In a pet owner’s home, I’m respectful of their space and aim to keep everything just as they left it. I make sure dogs are exercised, fed on time, given plenty of affection, and never left feeling lonely. I’m also happy to water plants, collect mail, or keep the home generally tidy while you’re away. Safety and wellbeing always come first. I’m vigilant on walks, careful with doors and gates, and attentive to any signs of stress or discomfort. I also send regular photo updates so you can relax knowing your dog is happy and well cared for. Every dog is treated with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own.

And the house was spotless - we can highly recommend Naomi and will be booking her again before long!

About: Hello, I'm Ewa I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by them, and in Poland I have three dogs of my own – two small and one medium-sized. Since moving to the UK, I miss them very much, so spending time with dogs here brings me real happiness. Looking after dogs has always been a natural part of my life. I've cared for my own dogs as well as dogs belonging to family and friends. I enjoy long walks, playtime and quiet moments too. Every dog is different, so I always take the time to understand their routine and make them feel safe and comfortable. I offer dog walking, home visits, daycare and care in my own home. I live in a quiet flat with access to a large shared garden. To make sure every dog gets plenty of attention, I only welcome one dog at a time (or two from the same household). I have very flexible working hours, so I can easily find time for walks with your pet. Sometimes I have to go away for a few weeks on business, but I think that everything can be arranged and adjusted. I make sure every pet is safe, comfortable and well cared for. I always follow the owner’s instructions, including feeding and walking routines. I live in a tenement with access to a large garden, where dogs can enjoy fresh air under supervision. I also provide regular walks, attention and a calm, pet-friendly environment. I treat every pet with care and make sure they feel relaxed and secure.

About: I have cared for multiple pets in my life, having owned both a collie and a Labrador. Sadly, my lab passed away in October and I am looking to spend some time with furry friends - I like animals more than people at times! I have trained up puppies and love walking, something I used to do with my lab. I’ve looked after all ages of dogs since having my dogs since they were puppies, and look forward to helping to train, care for and walk your lovely animals. I also have experience with cats and other small animals - I am welcome to everything! I work 9-5 Monday - Friday, but I am happy to do evening walks and pet-sitting at your home if I am working from home. I am also more than happy to do weekends - I am very interested in helping elderly individuals to walk their dogs if they are physically unable to or looking to give their companion(s) a longer walk. If I can help my community and spend time with animals, that is my idea of a perfect day! I am respectful and clean, and have experience as a carer who also had two big Newfoundland dogs. I enjoy being helpful, so if there are things I can help you with around the house while I am caring for your pets this can be done.

Suet is an absolutely wonderful person and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone who wants their furry babies loved and cared for when they are are away! She is so conscientious and pays such attention to detail, ensuring that she gets the care right for each pet. Our two dogs just loved her and she was very attentive to our elderly cat, who had been unwell recently, and she loved her as well! Suet kept us fully updated every day when we were away with photos and messages, which was so reassuring. Trusting someone to look after your precious fur babies and look after your home is a daunting thought, but I would say that Suet put our minds at rest completely and did the most amazing job and we trust her totally. It's so lovely to know that someone so caring provides such an excellent service. Thank you so much Suet!!

Alexandra was great with our little Chihuahua Floyd. He has never been left with anyone apart from what our family so we were nervous about leaving him. This is the first I’ve used Rover also and happened to come across Alexandra who was close by us and happy to sit in ours to look after him, walk him and sent us pics to update us. We were even running a tiny bit late on our arrival home. We updated her and she was able to hold out until we arrived home. I can’t thank her enough or recommend her any more. Fab sitter, my little guy seems to settle just fine with her also. 5 stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well what can we say about Anna, this was our first time leaving our husky pack of 4 for 4 days!! We were concerned it would be overwhelming for someone to do, we were well and truly wrong, we found Anna! Anna was outstanding could not of asked for anything more. She went up and above everything we expected and more. My partner was very anxious about leaving the pack but Anna put her right to ease. Our pack absolutely loved Anna. We will 100% getting Anna to watch our furbabies again. Amazing. Thank you so much Anna x

FAQs for House Sitting - Midlothian

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Midlothian on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,049 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Midlothian. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Midlothian walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Midlothian choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
