“My second time booking Hannah in for over a week of cat-sitting, and they were as punctual, professional, communicative, and reliable as ever. You could not ask for a better person to leave your fur babies in the care of. <3”

“Wow! Daria has just finished looking after my 5 month old puppy and I am so impressed! Plenty of updates throughout my time away, a spotless home to return and a very happy little pup. Daria took the time to come and meet us before her stay so I felt really comfortable that she and my pup would be alright. I’d highly recommend Daria. She’s very professional, prompt, kind and great with communication. I’ll definitely be booking her again! Thank you”

“Giulia was absolutely brilliant with our rescue Dillon and showered him with love and fuss straight away! Her communication with us was second to none, especially when Dillon ate a wasp and she had to sort out his snoot with the stinger - she kept us so well updated and gave him plenty of love even though he 100% did it to himself! He's looking forward to his next sit already 😊”

“Rebecca has been very accommodating, and has genuinely gone above and beyond in supporting Dougal (and me, perhaps even more so!). I felt really at ease and relaxed that he is in good hands. Given Dougal deployed the full body, happy wiggles seeing her again, I think we can safely say we'd both like to rely on her support in the future ☺️”

About: I have experience walking dogs and taking care of and feeding both dogs and rabbits. My family have had a dog for 6 years now and I often take her on walks by myself and am trusted to feed her and look after her overnight sometimes. We also used to have rabbits so I am used to cleaning out hutches and feeding smaller animals too. I'm a University student looking to fit in animal-care around my busy term-time schedule. Weekends and holidays I tend to have lots of availability, whilst weekday evenings also work. At home, my dog is treated as part of our family and I am very familiar with how to look after pets safely, ensuring that they are never in harm's way. However, I am also aware that each owner will have different expectations and house rules so I am willing to be flexible in my approach to suit each individual pet.
“Agnieszka looked after Obi while we were away abroad for a family wedding, and we were very happy with everything. Obi seems to have had a great time, and we received lots of updates throughout, including photos from their walks and even a trip to the beach. It gave us real peace of mind knowing he was well looked after. We would happily book with Agnieszka again and would definitely recommend her.”

“Maymay was a fantastic sitter for our 2 cats and kept us up to date with some funny videos of the cats antics. Our home was also left in pristine condition. We'll definitely book again and highly recommend Maymay as a sitter.”

“Eirini, was a joy to have in my home looking after my English Setter. She was always responsive to messages, very prompt in arriving on time and sent lovely photos of my dog enjoying a fun weekend in her care. Thank you so much …..I can 100% recommend Eirini to any other dog owners.”

“Jill did a wonderful job looking after my dog and the flat over a long weekend. He is senior who needs daily medication and he can be nervous around strangers. She immediately calmed him down reassured me with regular update, plus the flat was in perfect condition when I returned. I 100% recommend her and will go out of my way to book her again.”

“Fabulous caring dog sitter x Highly recommend Ciara - she so genuinely loves and cares for dogs. Nothing was too much trouble and she’s so gentle with my dogs 🥰 My two 🐶🐶 met her and her wonderful partner Joe for a beach walk, and both dogs immediately bonded with them. During the overnight stay Ciara kept me updated how things were going and was attentive and very caring throughout. One of my dogs was unexpectedly very poorly during the stay and Ciara went above and beyond to care for her and treated her as if she was her own. I’m so grateful to have found Ciara & Joe and couldn’t recommend her more highly. Will definitely rebook and will do my best to ensure I don’t have a poorly dog for her to deal with next time! Thank you 😊”

“Isabel was lovely and we felt very safe leaving her with Percy. She took great care of him and made sure he is comfortable and happy. She sent us daily updates and took great care of our house too.”

About: I've loved dogs since I was young, growing up with a beautiful Irish Setter. Since then, I've cared for dogs and cats for friends and neighbours, including an energetic Cocker Spaniel, a Poodle, and a cat. As a keen runner and outdoor enthusiast, I love giving dogs the exercise and attention they need. I have my own car, so I'm happy to take them to parks and scenic walking spots for fun, enriching adventures. I'm currently off for the summer, and my shift work gives me a very flexible schedule. This means I have plenty of time for drop-in visits, walks, and overnight stays. I also have my own car, so I'm able to travel easily and take your dog to great walking spots if needed. Your pet's safety and wellbeing are always my top priority. I'm reliable, responsible, and attentive to each pet's individual needs. I'll follow your routines and instructions carefully to ensure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you're away.
“Annie was easy to communicate with, arrived on time and shared updates when I left. A calm and warm dog sitter who I would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable sit. Billie seemed very happy. Thank you, Annie!”

“Sarah was wonderful, really lovely, asked loads of questions and was really attentive to if my dog had any needs Brian my dog just loved her, especially when seeing him snuggling on her knees which he rarely does with anyone, felt really reassured and Sarah was so accommodating when we were later than our time slot booked. Wouldn’t fail to ask again or recommend”

“Our boys were clearly beautifully looked after while we were away! Lots of updates/pictures minimised any missing! Flat was lovely and clean on our return! She’ll be helping us again!”

“Annie stayed at our flat for a couple of nights and looked after our two doggies again. Annie is clearly wonderful with dogs, and also has taken such good care of our home. There were updates and photos during our time away and it is clear that our dogs are very fond of Annie. We feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful person to take care of Peanut and Bella when we are away.”

“Hope has been an absolutely brilliant sitter for our Collie Kelpie pup Toast (and angry cat Gilbert). She has looked after Toast since he's been a year old - for both one off day sessions and longer 1-2 week periods while we've been away. Over this specific sitting she was really good at keeping us updated and giving Toast a variety of experiences throughout the stay. Toast is a very loveable but anxious soul, and Hope is brilliant with him - she makes sure to not get him too excited when she arrives, will adapt and alter walks if he gets spooked, and keeps us updated of how everything is getting on. Aside of this, she always looks after our home and keeps it in great condition for when we get home. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone needing their pup looked after.”

Lily was an absolutely phenomenal caregiver to our boys. She was easy to contact, had good attention to details, communicated with us regularly, and - most importantly - clearly had an incredibly connection with our two dogs. She went above and beyond in helping coordinate repairs going on in our home while we were out of town, and always did a great job with the dogs (who can be a bit much sometimes!). She sent us lots of pictures and made us feel so happy and comfortable being away from our dogs because they were clearly in great hands! We would rebook with her in an instant, recommend her to anyone, and will use her regularly in the future. Thank you Lily!!

Maymay did an excellent job housesitting my 11 week old puppy for 7 days. Maymay went above and beyond, following instructions on diet, hygiene (teeth brushing, pee pads, grooming - even claw clipping!), training (crate, toilet, commands) and sending me regular photo and video updates throughout the day. With mishaps (as happen with puppies), MayMay communicated immediately with detail and was proactive in implementing preventative solutions. MayMay took care also of the apartment with diligence. I arrived home to a calm, happy pup who had even learned a new command with MayMay! I cannot commend MayMay enough and will certainly engage her again. Thank you, MayMay!

Jillson went above and beyond to make sure Percy was happy and well cared for. He clearly felt very comfortable with her and we received great updates throughout her stay. Jillson followed all our requests and schedule and took great care of our home too. I hope we get a chance to book Jillson again.

Rory was a fabulous cat sitter. He made sure we had absolutely nothing to worry about while we were away, leaving our wee boy for the first time. Rory provided us with lots of detailed updates, photos, and videos to reassure us that Sonic was having the best time. He's definitely made a new pal, and we really appreciate everything he did for us. He left the flat spotless for us getting home, too. Would definitely recommend Rory for all of your cat sitting needs.

Serena looked after are house and Bella. Her communication was always prompt and professional from begging to end. she did an amazing job with our Bella who was poorly and always went that extra mile cooking her different food to encourage to eat and drink when she didn't feel like it. Would certainly recommend her to anyone. Thank you.

Liam was definitely a hit with Bella, as she’s just gone to the spare room to look for him. She even took a toy. What better recommendation can you give! Liam is a good man who knows his dogs. He is a great communicator and I received loads of photos of Bella out and about. She’s had the best time. Thank you.

Katie was absolutely fantastic with our cockapoo Walter. He can be a quite anxious dog at times, but we can tell that Katie made him feel comfortable and cared for. We got regular updates on what Walter was up to (including very cute photos of him on his walkies!), which gave us real peace of mind. On top of that, all of his routines were followed perfectly, and we came back from our trip to a very happy dog. We would absolutely book Katie again. She clearly has a lot of love for dogs, and even made time to visit before the booking so that Walter could get familiarised, which was such a thoughtful touch. Walter clearly had a fantastic time with her. Very very highly recommended!

Rebecca has been very accommodating, and has genuinely gone above and beyond in supporting Dougal (and me, perhaps even more so!). I felt really at ease and relaxed that he is in good hands. Given Dougal deployed the full body, happy wiggles seeing her again, I think we can safely say we'd both like to rely on her support in the future ☺️

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Edinburgh walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edinburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
