“Jill was absolutely lovely. Her communication before and during the stay were great. She arrived on time. She was very attentive and responsive throughout the day. She was sincere and followed all the instructions given. She shared a lot of pictures and kept us informed. We loved how she not only managed to give Maya her medicines but also gave us a cool tip on how to orally administer it which was very helpful. Overall, we loved the sitting experience with her and felt very safe leaving our fur babies with her. Looking forward to the next stay.”

“Giulia was absolutely brilliant with our rescue Dillon and showered him with love and fuss straight away! Her communication with us was second to none, especially when Dillon ate a wasp and she had to sort out his snoot with the stinger - she kept us so well updated and gave him plenty of love even though he 100% did it to himself! He's looking forward to his next sit already 😊”

“Agnieszka looked after Obi while we were away abroad for a family wedding, and we were very happy with everything. Obi seems to have had a great time, and we received lots of updates throughout, including photos from their walks and even a trip to the beach. About: Been a dog mum since the age of 6 so I understand how important it is having your dog in the right hands and taken care of. Ive worked with naughty dogs like Beagles to large goofballs like golden retrievers as well as rescue dogs who sometimes need that extra time for them to get used to you. Most of my weekends are free and I love going for walks so having a fluffy companion would be amazing! Weekdays may vary depending on my shifts. I always make sure they have the basic essentials and they are comfortable with my presence. Im aware that not all pets get comfy with someone else straight away so patience is key.
“Mikaela was amazing with Miso! He’s only 9 weeks old, so I was really nervous about leaving him for the first time, but she put my mind completely at ease. She took such great care of him and sent me lots of lovely photos and updates, which I really appreciated. It was clear he was happy and well looked after. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Mikaela again, thank you so much!”

“Sonia was amazing. She kept me updated with plenty of photos and messages, which really put my mind at ease. My dog was clearly very comfortable and well cared for, and I came home to a spotless house. I couldn’t be happier with the experience, and I would absolutely book with her again.”

“Sarah was great and so accommodating when she looked after my 2 husky's Demon and Keiko and my daughters spaniel Bella in our house whilst we were on holiday for 2 weeks. My 2 have never been left and I was a bit apprehensive leaving them as they are a bit demanding but I had nothing at all to worry about, the puppies loved her and everything was great on our return. She kept in touch with us sending pics and texts on a daily basis, really put my mind at ease. Can't say enough good things about Sarah. Would definitely recommend and will be having her back very soon. Thanks Sarah for everything xx”

We can’t speak highly enough about Christina. She gave us daily updates, making sure we knew everything was okay. Remy was clearly having lots of fun with her and when we returned it was obvious that he’d been well looked after. If Christina is available in the future we would most definitely book her.
Jill did a wonderful job looking after my dog and the flat over a long weekend. He is senior who needs daily medication and he can be nervous around strangers. She immediately calmed him down reassured me with regular update, plus the flat was in perfect condition when I returned. I 100% recommend her and will go out of my way to book her again.

Savvas was absolutely wonderful with Enzo. From start to finish, he was attentive, caring, and made sure he felt right at home. It’s always tough leaving your dog, but Savvas gave us complete peace of mind with regular updates and photos. He also administered Enzo’s medication exactly according to our instructions without any issues. Enzo clearly had a fantastic time and was incredibly well looked after. We will definitely be booking with him again. Thank you, Savvas!

Mikaela took beautiful care of our two dogs (two larger rescues who need daily meds and frequent exercise) and our flat. Communication was perfect, and she kindly adjusted the drop off time in order to introduce the dogs to our friend who was staying after her. We will book Mikaela again without hesitation.

Annie was absolutely fantastic, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. She looked after our four dogs brilliantly, which is no small task as they all have their own personalities and little quirks. Annie took everything in her stride, was incredibly attentive, and kept us updated with regular messages and photos throughout our time away, which gave us real peace of mind. It was obvious how well cared for they were, and the best sign of all was coming home to four happy, relaxed dogs. We wouldn’t hesitate to book Annie again. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of them!

This is the second time that Hannah has looked after Milo. She was great at attending to his needs as an indoor cat. The first time Hannah looked after him I was away for two weeks. Hannah gave me daily updates of how Milo was doing and provided him with lots of play to keep him stimulated. I came home to a content cat. I would happily book her again.

This is the second time Fiona has looked after our dog. She is so reliable and calm and our dog loves her. We can really enjoy our holiday knowing that Fiona is looking after both our dog and our house! We came home to an immaculate house and a well cared for dog!

Aimee was wonderful with my 10 month old puppy, Milo. She took such great care of him and kept the house spotless. Everything was just as we left it. She's dependable, responsible, and clearly loves animals. I'd absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring pet sitter.
Estefany was a hit with both cats, as soon as she came in the front door they were trying to be her best friend. She regularly sent updates of the boys, & both seemed happy & content when I arrived home. The house was left clean & tidy, she has definitely taken good care of my home & the boys!

Fraser was an excellent sitter for our large dog and cat. He provided frequent updates and pictures. He made certain he understood both of their schedules and feeding times perfectly. He even went above and beyond and asked for a list of our dog's obedience and behavioral command phrases! Having Fraser with our pets for the weekend helped us feel very safe and made sure we were able to focus on enjoying our vacation. Even better, we came back to a spotless house.

Marie was an absolutely fantastic sitter for Sonya. She took wonderful care of her, and it was clear that Sonya was happy, comfortable, and well looked after throughout her stay. Marie kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me great peace of mind while I was away. She is kind, reliable, and genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Sonya with her again, and I highly recommend Marie to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter. Thank you so much, Marie, for taking such great care of Sonya!

Azalea was great! We have a rescue who is reactive, and Azalea managed her so well. Azalea was very calm and confident in all of her interactions and we felt really safe leaving our dog with her. She also left our flat spotless after staying there for a week. We highly recommend Azalea!

Sarah is a wonderful sitter. We have used her services a few times, and we always come home to happy, relaxed and settled dogs. Our house is clean and well looked after. Sarah is communicative, responsible, experienced and has a warm and friendly manner. Our dogs love her. I can highly recommend Sarah!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Edinburgh walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edinburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
