“My second time booking Hannah in for over a week of cat-sitting, and they were as punctual, professional, communicative, and reliable as ever. You could not ask for a better person to leave your fur babies in the care of. <3”

“Isabel is absolutely amazing! She did a three night long house sitting for my cat. I felt very comfortable and safe leaving my cat with her. I got multiple pictures and updates daily which was lovely, and in each photo my cat looked very content and happy. When I got back the cat was happy, fed, with clean water bowl and litter box, and the flat was spotless. Would absolutely recommend!”

“Daria was great at communicating, providing us with reassuring updates throughout the weekend we were away. She was eager to learn Ottie’s routine and was very patient and understanding towards Ottie’s training needs. We returned to a very tidy home and a happy, tired out dog. Ottie can’t wait for Daria’s next visit 😊”

“Agnieszka was brilliant, quick to respond, friendly and excellent with Elsie. We were kept in the loop at all times, and Elsie seemed to settle really quickly with her. 100% would book again :)”

“Couldn’t be happier with the care Otto received. Otto was well looked after, happy, and relaxed when we returned, which says everything. Communication was excellent throughout, and I felt completely at ease knowing Otto was in such good hands. I would recommend Daniela to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.”

“As always, Ciara was absolutely amazing with Bryce. He’s always so happy to see her and sad when the visit is over. She talks such amazing care of him and sends so many photos. Have already rebooked her for another overnight stay.”

“Giulia was absolutely brilliant with our rescue Dillon and showered him with love and fuss straight away! Her communication with us was second to none, especially when Dillon ate a wasp and she had to sort out his snoot with the stinger - she kept us so well updated and gave him plenty of love even though he 100% did it to himself! He's looking forward to his next sit already 😊”

“Eve is completely dependable, reliable and punctual. She listened carefully to all instructions in her care of Aggie and looked after her very well. She clearly loves dogs and Aggie was totally happy to be with her.”

“Thank you so much for taking care of Mabel 🐾 Caitlin is such a lovely person and my pup had the best day, I was sent lots of updates throughout the day which I really appreciated! If ever I need Mabel looked after again I’d definitely rebook with Caitlin ☺️”

“Thank you Iina, we really appreciated your care and attention when staying with Romi this weekend. It’s good to see her enjoying her time with you and we appreciate your updates throughout the weekend. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.”

“Eirini watched our pets and our home for a week, and we couldn't have been happier. She updated us frequently, and we felt so secure to be away with her there. Will definitely book again.”

“Aimee has looked after Fae overnight for the first time now, after having had her on a couple of walks and an afternoon sit previously. She dealt calmly with Fae’s noisy separation anxiety after my partner and I left the house. Despite the crying which lasted several hours, Aimee stayed calm, took her on a long walk, and then things calmed down for the rest of the weekend. We could see on Fae’s tracker that she was taken on regular walks, and Aimee was sending daily updates too. She also kept our home as tidy as we had left it. We are very thankful to Aimee and hope to book with her again in the near future 😊”

“Eirini, was a joy to have in my home looking after my English Setter. She was always responsive to messages, very prompt in arriving on time and sent lovely photos of my dog enjoying a fun weekend in her care. Thank you so much …..I can 100% recommend Eirini to any other dog owners.”

“Mikaela was amazing with Miso! He’s only 9 weeks old, so I was really nervous about leaving him for the first time, but she put my mind completely at ease. She took such great care of him and sent me lots of lovely photos and updates, which I really appreciated. It was clear he was happy and well looked after. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Mikaela again, thank you so much!”

“Sarah has taken care of Anko for about 3 years now. This month she stayed at ours for one week with the dog and she took impeccable care of the place too. I can’t recommend her enough. Anko loves her and I feel complete peace of mind knowing she is well cared for and gets all the fuss and treats she wants. Sarah is easy to talk to, very transparent and super accommodating. We will continue calling her for as long as she will have Anko ❤️🐶”

Absolutely delighted to have found Gemma! Her communication in the lead up and throughout the stay was great and I could see from the pictures that my dog was happy! She also left the house near and tisy and was really considerate. I know my dog will be excited when she sees her again!

During a recent work trip, Isabelle looked after my cat, Ekko, for 4 nights while staying in my flat. She sent me plenty of updates during my time away showing her bonding with my cat which helped put my mind at ease. Isabelle seemed genuinely interest in caring for Ekko, she listened to & implemented any unique instructions which I am very grateful for. Finally, when I returned home I found a well cared for cat as well as a clean & tidy flat which I am also thankful for. I would be happy to use Isabelle’s services again

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Edinburgh walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edinburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
