“Pat was amazing with Willow! Not only did he take care of everything perfectly, but he also came by twice on Christmas Day! Willow was very spoiled with lots of play and cuddles, and Pat kept us updated with plenty of pictures and videos. Honestly, I think Willow was disappointed to see us come home! 100% recommend Pat and would definitely rebook ”

About: I have cared for dogs previously including dog sitting while owners go on holiday. I can deal with all things from cuddles to picking up the goods! I am a chartered accountant who works in a home based role therefore I can be flexible to suit your dogs needs throughout the day I will care for your animal as if it were my own. I pride myself on being a very organised and trustworthy person demonstrated by owners leaving their pets with me during their holidays.
“This was Sarah’s second time looking after our cat, Kyra. She did an amazing job, we were always informed and she sent us loads of pictures. We will definitely ask her to look after Kyra again!”

About: I’ve been walking and caring for dogs for ages. I’ve also worked at an animal rights charity since 2015 because animals have a huge place in my heart and I care deeply for their well-being. If I see a dog at a restaurant or venue who doesn’t have a water dish, I’ll always get them one. I have so much empathy for animals it hurts. With me, your dog will get long walks, lots of attention, and be well cared for and engaged. I take them with me everywhere they can come and make sure they get their own dedicated walks and sniffing time. At home, they get as many cuddles as they want - I always read their cues and follow their lead. I make sure they always have a full water dish, are fed on time, and I can give them medicine, if needed. If dogs like being pet, scratched, or massaged, that's what they get from me until my hands fall off. My flat has a nice size shared garden in the back that gets lots of sunlight, and it’s fenced in. I work from home 9 to 5 Monday to Friday so it’s flexible. I take them out 5 times a day starting at 7:30am and ending at 10pm. I have them settled for sleep by 10:30. In the evenings I go to the gym at 5:30 and am away for about 90 mins total, unless otherwise specified. I leave the music on for them, softly. Other than that I’m with the dog the whole time. I’m very close to lots of green spaces including St Marks park, Eyre st park, and some gorgeous trails. Aside from garden breaks, I do one to two big walks, depending if they pull or can go off lead. My flat has a fenced in garden so we visit frequently and I never have them go more than 4 hours without a potty break. I’m very happy to send you updates however frequently you like. I usually do one midday and another in the evening, but can tailor it depending on length of their stay and your preference.

About: I have taken care of small and medium dogs in my neighborhood for a couple of years now. Love to take a long walk on parks and play with them. Also caring of cats and respecting their space I am a master student currently doing my dissertation! I have flexible hour schedule during week and weekend days! I would be happy to arrange pre-set meetings to get to know the owner and the pet! I work from home so I would make sure the dog will always have company. At the same time I like to take pictures of different moments of the day for the owner to feel comfortable! I believe that knowing basic information about the dog / cat is key. A chat with the owner can make the full caring experience better for all.
“Matthew drops in to see my two excitable Staffies every week. He is very good at dealing with their exuberant natures, and follows our instructions to the letter. He leaves very happy dogs on his way out.”

About: Happy to sit small, well-behaved dogs in my flat. I have access to two nice private gardens. There are many parks and green spaces around my flat. I work from home most of the time. I have two garden attached to my flat that will allow for outdoor time. I live in a central location, very close to bigger parks so happy to take the dog for a longer walk. I have lots of space in my flat for the dog to wonder around and feel homely. I would provide places to sleep and feel cosy. I provide quiet and relaxing environment with only one another family member. No children and no additional pets.

About: I’ve had my little springer spaniel since I was 10 and she’s been my best friend ever since. She’s a little old now but the love is still growing. I’ve always enjoyed the company of dogs and I’ve had some experience by volunteering daily to walk dogs during my university studies. So I’m doing my masters studies at the moment, but I’m busy only on Mondays and Tuesdays and have plenty of time in between that to help daily. My dog is very much the queen of my home so her safety, care and protection is always of the highest concern to me. She has the house and garden to herself during the day, with also a variation of lovely walks each day, and at night, anyone’s bed or room is hers for the choosing.
“Zesna is amazing. My cat adores her and she literally eats out of zesna's hand. As well as looking after candy whilst I was away, zesna trimmed her fur balls which I was having a real problem addressing. I came home to the most chilled out relaxed cat ever. I trust zesna 100 percent. Thank you so much for looking after candy so well zesna. We are lucky to have found you xxxx”

“Ylva provided great care of my cat who I needed to leave for 4 nights, so Ylva was doing two drop in sessions each day to feed/change water bowl & play. That's been second time my cat was left with Ylva and this was a great experience again. I like the updates I was given and I could see my cat wasn't stressed on the pics and enjoyed his play time. I came back to happy cat & clean flat again. Can't recommend Ylva enough!”

About: I’m a devoted dog parent to an 12 year old dachshund and lifelong dog lover. My camera roll is about 98% dogs, so you can count on plenty of adorable “pup”-dates to know your pet it in good hands! Alongside caring for (and admittedly spoiling) my own dog, who is currently back in my home city, I previously worked at Doggy Paddle, a canine leisure swimming and hydrotherapy centre focused on dog wellbeing. Through this role, I gained hands‑on experience supporting dogs of all ages, temperaments, and mobility levels. I also have training in canine first aid and behaviour, which I hope can provide reassurance to you and your furry companion, as it has to many friends I have pet-sat for in the past! As a postgraduate student, I spend a lot of time studying, so getting outdoors with your dog is the perfect balance for me. I love to explore the different green spaces and walks that Edinburgh has to offer, with the beautiful water of Leith on my doorstep and the opportunity to drive to other walks should you and your pet be happy for me to. Whether it’s rain or shine, I’m committed to making sure your pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m currently on summer break from university so have a lot more flexibility! Come September I will be at university 3 days a week so will have weekends and a couple weekdays available which I will be able to confirm/update closer to the time when my schedule is more confirmed. I always find it helpful to have an initial chat with new clients so we can build rapport and trust your pet’s care is something I take seriously, and it’s important that you feel confident entrusting them to me. Before any booking, I ask for clear instructions on your pet’s preferences, routines, likes and dislikes, and any potential risks. Pets are our family, and just like children, they can be wonderfully unpredictable, so the more I know, the better I can support them! I’m committed to creating a calm, safe environment and giving your pet the best experience possible, whether it’s for a quick visit or a longer stay.

About: I’ve been around dogs a lot since finishing university in 2018. I have recently come from my partners family home where I was the main carer for their 2 dogs, a King Charles and a cavashon. I love dogs and have a lot of time and patience’s I’m currently working part times so have lots of available time to go for long walks or have cuddles in the some or outside fun in the garden. They wouldn’t be left alone for too long and they always be fed on time and get let out as and when they need. I have an open communal garden right on my door step as I am a ground floor flat so grassy areas are not too far away. As long as all equipment is provided I can do any training necessary and can meet their needs as required by their owners.
“Charlotte was great with Olive! Olive went on really long walks which was super helpful as she is a very high energy puppy, Charlotte was on time, communicated well and very willing to accomodate olive and her needs :)”

About: Growing up on a farm I have cared for animals and pets most of my life. The majority of experience is with dogs and cats however I have also experience looking after various farm animals/pets. Dogs: At the moment it's mostly dogs (but still open to other animals!). I have looked after lots of dogs during my time in the city here - on a formal and informal basis. I absolutely love dogs and spending time with them is a joy for me. I ensure they don't have too much time alone - especially on their first stay - as want them to see my home as a place of comfort & something to look forward to! I love getting to know a dog's favourite activity and seeing where they like to explore - feel free to share these facts during their stay :) Ps they do get couch / bed privileges here if that's something they are allowed... I currently work part time as an Occupational Therapist within mental health. I am available on days off, evenings and flexible to weekends. I am open for doggy day care, walks, check in/playtime, overnight stays. Not currently available for house sitting. I live in a big flat with 3 other animal lovers and we have current experience pet sitting. We have access to Queen Street Gardens - so lots of SAFE space for pets to be let off lead and run around in a quiet secured area :)

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Edinburgh
We had Daria visit our dogs in an Air bnb on our wedding day. Emotions were high and my mind was going a million times an hour (as can be expected on your wedding day!) but thankfully worrying about the dogs was not one of them thanks to Daria. I have never put my dog into kennels or ever used a sitter before, but rover was recommended to us by a family friend. Daria was amazing! She came to the house the day before to meet the dogs and go over their routine. We had great communication from Daria through out her visits and pictures which put my mind at ease and allowed me to really enjoy our day. Would highly recommend and would use again when we’re back in Edinburgh. Thank you Daria!! Emma x

Annie has been absolutely fantastic with our dog Jazz. Jazz is quite shy and anxious about new people, but Annie has been so patient and gentle with her, she’s really taken the time to build up trust with Jazz. Annie is always very responsive, and gives detailed updates about her visits. We’ll definitely trust Annie to look after Jazz again.

I can’t recommend Elizabeth enough. This was our first time using Rover, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Elizabeth was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared so much about our dogs. She kept us updated throughout the visit, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. It made such a difference knowing our dog was in safe and caring hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and kind sitter.

Leah is just 5 stars, the best sitter you could ask for. She is so enthusiastic about our little pup Kea and treats her like her own. We get loads of thoughtful updates and photos, which completely puts our minds at ease, and it’s obvious how happy and well cared for Kea is with her. Leah is reliable, communicative, and genuinely loves what she does. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and feel incredibly lucky to have found her.

Sandra has been great with Rocky and I’ve always come home to a settled dog once Sandra has popped round and taken him out. Sandra sends on some great pics and is really communicative. Thanks again. Looking forward to R having his next adventures with her. Cheers, Philip

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
