“I was a little anxious about leaving my 2 dachshunds with a sitter for the first time however Daisy (and Scott) are a lovely, friendly couple and they have such an obvious love of dogs. They came to the house and met my dogs and they all took to each other immediately!! She even invited me to go to her home where I was able to advise them on stairs and going out in the garden etc. Daisy asked questions about Henry and Bean's routines and quirks and listened intently when I explained their love of blankies and their various idiosyncrasies, as she wanted to make sure that she was giving them a home from home experience. It certainly put my mind at ease! Also, while I was away, she sent me lots of photos, videos and updates and also arranged for the doggos to go on a walk with a fellow dachshund! She was kind enough to collect them from my home (with a vast amount of their 'necessities') and dropped them back home when I got back too. Doggies are home very happy (and tired) and obviously have enjoyed their new adventure. I feel fortunate to have found Daisy and Scott and I feel confident leaving Henry and Bean with them in the future knowing that they will get the love, care and attention they have at home. Thanks guys X”

“I would highly recommend Nina. Leia had a great time and was well looked after. Nina was very patient with her as she is still young with ongoing training. Nina provided daily updates with photos and videos which put my mind at ease knowing Leia had settled in.”

“After meeting Alexandra I new instantly our Minnie would be well looked after and she was, photos and videos in abundance of her happy holiday, a huge thank you Alexandra, Minnie is missing her new found friend daisy”

“Vilte was great with our Mika! While being in Viltes care, Mika went for lots of adventures and was very well taken care of. She also sent regular updates and photos, keeping us at ease while away! Mika had a blast!”

“Shaimaa was a wonderful host for Tina! She took great care of her. We felt so safe and reassured that she'd be taken well care of in her lovely flat. Tina even took part in a yoga class! Can't recommend enough! Thank you and appreciate your help.”

“Bruna looked after Tilly brilliantly and gave me a good level of updates with daily photos, videos and messages. Bruna’s dog is extremely friendly and was good company for Tilly.”

“Rose and her partner were absolutely wonderful! Our dog Bailey has never been so calm and relaxed. He was taken care of so well and treated like a Prince. Rose gave daily updates with pictures and made us feel so at ease. Thank you so much!!!”

“Zoe is so lovely and took such good care of our boy when we needed a dog-sitter unexpectedly. Not only that, but we have a terrier who takes time to get to know people before being friendly and he took an immediate like to Zoe. That, to me, is the best praise there could be”

About: I have dog sat as a teenager for family friends and now in my adult life I have previously lived with a very nervous rescue dog who needed lots of extra care and attention and have lived with 3 energetic border collies in my last relationship. They were crate trained, 2 F and 1 neutered M. I have had cats, hamsters, dogs, geckos, fish, a python and a bearded dragon! I LOVE all animals and now that I’m at a point of not living in a home with any pets I am really excited to help take care of your little furry family members :) I have experience with reactive dogs and am happy to help with any specific needs your dog has/take into consideration anything that needs to be avoided. I have gave plenty of medications to dogs young and old in different forms, no formal training however I have done it many times and feel confident doing it. I work partially in an office 8-4 and one day a week from home, I am off every weekend. I’d love to spend the spare alone time I have helping other peoples pets :) I have a fenced garden, have no pets currently. I am happy to care for pets in your home or mine. Check ins, overnights etc.
“Honestly cannot praise Eilidh enough! From the minute she had my girls she kept us updated and sent us photos. Lola and Zara quite possibly had a better holiday than us! We 1000% recommend Eilidh for dog sitting. She provides a happy home away from home for your dogs and has two very friendly dogs of her own who quickly accepted my two into their pack. I think Lola is missing her posse already! Thank you so so much.”

“Lu took really good care of my boy, long walks, beach walks and lots of playtime! Lu provided us with lots of pics and videos every day. I always worry when leaving our boy, but he was very happy and taken care of. Will definitely book again!”

“Jack did a great job looking after our crazy young Cocker Spaniel at short notice, though I think he was very glad to hand him back! Thanks for taking good care of him. He was also very accommodating of our last-minute change of times, and that was very much appreciated.”

“Paige and her partner were absolutely great with Freddie. He was completely comfortable with them and I’d be very happy to leave Freddie with them again. Paige took time to find out about Freddie and his habits/routine and took them all onboard - even his not so good ones 😳. Would highly recommend Paige.”

About: From a young age, I have always had a love of animals, especially dogs. My naturally caring nature with animals means they will feel relaxed in my company. I have experience with various dog breeds, ranging from Vizsla to Wire-Haired Dachshunds. I am currently studying at University so I am very flexible with days & times to cater for looking after your pets, although I would like to meet the dog & owner, as I would like to know more about your pet (what needs it has, how many walks is required, how the sleeping pattern may be if staying over for the night etc). This information will help me provide the particular, tailored care needed for your beloved pet, whilst also putting your mind at ease that I am a trusted and safe caretaker. I have been looking after my friends' dogs and cats for 6 years, which has provided the hands-on experience of feeding and taken care of the welfare of the animal. I can also take care of house cats if needed as well. I live very near Hazlehead Park & woods, which provides plenty space to take your dog for a walk to let off energy and relieve stress. There is also the local burn at Kings Gate burn and Maidencraig nature reserve :) I will gladly send picture updates of your dog or kitty to show how they are acclimatising in their new environment & experience with myself. I'm also to happy to play with them with their favourite toys and would enjoy extra time for snuggling sessions whilst looking after your best friend. I have references to provide on this website for your perusal before meeting. I am looking forward to hearing from you and especially meeting your pets. I am currently a full-time furry godmother. I am available Monday-Sunday during this summer period. I am here to give care to your furry family members. I’m fully insured, and have Dog First Aid training, DBS checks. Several parks around us for adventures. Your dog will be mentally stimulated and physically trained with games according to their special needs. I have experience with pups on a special diet and medical condition.
“Jane looked after Archie for a week while we were on out hols. She was fabulous, daily updates and pics plus had him out having lots of walks and fun. Would highly recommend. Will be using her again very soon.”

“Our dog had a great time staying with Carla, he was relaxed and got on well with Carla's dog Billie. This was noticeable from the start when he just walked in without any convincing. Carla gave regular updates and pictures throughout his stay and we were happy enough to already book his next stay.”

About: I’ve basically grown up around animals and honestly just love being around them. Alongside lots of real-life pet sitting, I’m currently studying Animal Behaviour and Welfare at university, so I understand not just how to care for animals, but how they think and feel too. Through my animal care courses, I’ve also been trained in animal first aid, which means I know what to look out for if something isn’t quite right and how to respond calmly in an emergency. I’ve looked after all sorts- from cats and dogs to fish (including my own shrimp and betta!), and even giant breeds like Newfoundlands. I’m really comfortable handling multiple pets and different personalities. I also have experience with pets that need extra care. I regularly look after an older diabetic dog who needs a strict routine, so I’m very confident sticking to schedules, giving medication, and keeping a close eye on health and behaviour. I think what really sets me apart is that I treat every pet like they’re my own- whether that’s playing with energetic puppies, being patient with nervous animals, or giving extra love and attention to senior pets. Pet care fits really naturally into my routine because it’s already a big part of my life. With my university course, I’m used to planning my days around animals and their needs. I’m quite flexible and happy to work around your pet’s normal routine, whether that’s early morning walks, evening feeds, or more structured care for pets who need it. I’m organised and reliable, so you can trust that everything will be done properly and on time. For me, making pets feel safe, relaxed, and happy is the most important thing. I always follow your instructions closely so your pet can stick to the routine they’re used to. Because of my training, I’m confident spotting early signs of illness, stress, or injury, and I know how to respond appropriately if anything were to happen. I pay close attention to behaviour and body language, which helps me keep pets comfortable and settled. I’m very calm and patient, especially with nervous or older animals. I keep everything clean and safe, and I’m more than happy to send updates and photos so you know your pet is happy and doing well. At the end of the day, I just want owners to feel completely at ease knowing their pets are being genuinely cared for and loved.
“Michelle did great taking care of Suki for a long weekend (2 nights). She sent us lots of updates and photos and Suki seemed to get comfortable with her fairly quickly. We'll definitely look to book with Michelle again 😊”

After returning from our holiday, our pet came out as a new dog! Happy, fit and well loved! Our dog generally requires a lot of exercise and Rodger provided plenty of exercise, love, care and attention. The best during the holiday was to receive the updates and photos of Amber! Rodger communicated very well and established a good relationship with Amber! We will be leaving Amber with Rodger in the future! Rita & David

I highly recommend this cat sitter. She took excellent care of my cat while I was away and kept me updated with regular photos and messages, which gave me great peace of mind. It was clear that she genuinely cares about animals, and my cat felt comfortable and relaxed around her. She is reliable, responsible, and attentive to every detail. I would definitely book her services again and recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter

Evelyn has been amazing with both of my dogs both for daycare and boarding. Recently she had my puppy Diana for 2 nights and I can tell she had such a nice time! I got lots of updates and pictures which I really appreciated and Diana came home very happy, thank you Evelyn ☺️

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
