“We have never used a house-sitter before and now we would want no one else but Balbina. On first meeting Balbina we were immediately confident that our dog would be in safe hands while we were away for a week. Despite our dog being camera shy Balbina was able to cleverly catch a few photos here and there to let us know how she was getting on. We think our dog missed Balbina not being here more than she missed us being away! We would definitely book Balbina again.”

“Anoushka was amazing super communicative beforehand and throughout her sit providing lots of updates and pictures and we could tell our cat was very comfortable with her. She gave him supplements to help his gut at our request and updated us on how he was reacting to them which was really appreciated. When we returned our home was left immaculately clean and our cat was very happy and calm. Would absolutely book her again!”

“Ellen took great care of Bailey and was also kind enough to stay longer than scheduled as I experienced delays in returning home- due to travel disruption. I can’t thank her enough and I’ll be booking her again.”

“Grace was a wonderful sitter for our dog, having accepted a late booking and being so accommodating to us. Our dog has separation anxiety so needs the calm presence of a sitter like Grace. We will hope to book her again in the future & highly recommend her as a sitter.”

“Chantelle house sat with my dog Shadow over a long weekend and was an exceptional pet sitter. She was reliable, communicative, caring and responsible. Shadow needs arthritis meds regularly & Chantelle walked him, stayed with him & made sure he received his medication as needed. She even went out of her way to post a Christmas gift that we had left behind. It can be tricky thing when deciding to leave your home and your pet in the hands of someone new. If you’re looking for someone who you can trust to take care of your pets and who you can entrust with your home, look no further! A huge thank you to you Chantelle! We will most definitely be booking you again & again :)”

“Daphne was wonderful with our 4 month old puppy! Sid was very happy in her company and we came home to a very calm and content little puppy! We were super nervous leaving her with someone for such a long time as she can be a handful but Daphne was completely unphased which put us at ease! She also left our house in the same state we left it in, couldn’t even tell someone had been there! Daphne is also just the loveliest person I could not recommend her higher! Absolutely will be reuniting Sid and Daphne in the future!”

“We will definitely have Bronte to dog sit again. We asked her to dog sit last minute and she was happy to help. While we were away Bronte gave us lots of updates and pictures, and it was clear that Bonnie was having the time of her life. The pictures she sent us were just adorable. She also left us the sweetest drawing of Bonnie. You can tell how much she loves animals. I highly recommend Bronte to anyone who wants to know their pet is in safe hands!”

“Jamie was great, we met before and it was clear they were really good with dogs and very knowledgeable. Their communication was excellent. All instructions were followed and the dogs seemed very happy on my return.”

About: I have experience caring for both cats and dogs, including pets who need a calm and quiet environment. I have administered medication to cats and dogs and have experience caring for older pets with individual needs and routines. I’m attentive to each pet’s personality and always take the time to help them feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. Whether your pet needs an energetic walk, gentle companionship, medication, feeding or extra love, I’ll provide reliable and thoughtful care while following your instructions closely. I’m currently on sabbatical, so I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to dog and cat sitting. I’m available throughout the week and can be flexible around each pet’s routine and individual needs. I enjoy spending time with animals and would love to make pet care a regular part of my day. I provide pet care exclusively in the owner’s home, so pets can stay in a familiar and comfortable environment. I follow their usual routines closely, including feeding, walks, medication and any specific care instructions. I’m respectful of each home and take safety seriously, making sure doors, gates and pets are secure. I’ll also keep owners updated with messages and photos so they know their pet is happy and well cared for.
“Ellie looked after our two dogs really well whilst we were away for the weekend. She sent us lots of updates and was very communicative. One of our dogs is nervous and refused to go on a walk but Ellie was very nice to her and didn't force her. When we got back our house was super clean and Ellie had even made us cupcakes!”

“Beth was amazing with Enzo and provided updates throughout. I could tell Beth had a lot of knowledge about dogs, especially caring for dogs in hot weather which was really reassuring.”

“Ting was absolutely fantastic with Bones! She was so caring, thoughtful and attentive throughout the stay, and it was clear from all her updates that Bones was having a brilliant time and getting lots of love and attention. She kept us updated with everything, took him on lovely walks, played with him, and even went the extra mile with little things around the house. Bones seemed so happy and comfortable with her, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We wouldn’t hesitate to have Ting look after Bones again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wonderful pet sitter! ❤️”

“I would definitely recommend Johanna! She was absolutely amazing with my nervous rescue dog, Winter. She gave him all the space and time he needed to feel comfortable and sent me an update later in the day after their walk. Johanna was on time and very respectful of Winter’s needs. I will definitely use her services again. Thank you so much 🥰”

“Toni and their partner did a wonderful job with Sidney! They kept us updated with pics of her throughout the evening and shared updates on what she was up to! They kept our place spotless and even unlocked some sprites on my Fortnite account! 10/10”

“Oliwia was wonderful looking after Frida! My gal isn’t very easy going, but I had great updates all weekend and came home to a very chill and happy dog! Oliwia left my flat so clean and tidy 💓”

“Jamie was available to dogsit for us at short notice, and our dog Sylvia immediately took to him. It is clear how knowledgeable and passionate Jamie is about dogs; he gave us some really useful behavioural tips as Sylvia has recently become scared of the dark. He also didn't mind getting some intense attention from the cat! We will definitely be booking Jamie again.”

“Eddie had such a fantastic stay with Kate, I couldn't have been happier! I know that he received lots of love and cuddles, long walks and ball throwing. Kate updated me with pictures, and Eddie came home a very happy dog. I would highly recommend Kate to everyone.”

About: I have had pets throughout my life and volunteered at an animal refuge. I had my border terrier from being a pup to 15 and have had cats and birds. I have cared for friend's pets, which have included guinea pigs, tropical fish, chinchillas and snakes! I have public liability insurance and recently trained in dog first aid and emergency canine care. I work part-time from home so have plenty of time to care for your pet and could give them as much company as they need I don't currently offer overnight care at my home as it can be difficult for an animal to settle in an unfamiliar environment. But for holiday care I would be happy to stay overnight at your home giving the added bonus of increased security.
About: I grew up on a small farm in Northern Ontario, and I have been caring for and genuinely enjoying spending time with animals for as long as I can remember! I have shared my life with dogs since I was a baby. I had a horse throughout my teen years, and aside from my best girl, Shanti (5.5-year-old Labrador), my most recent animal care was for our geriatric donkey, Eeyore, whilst staying with my family in Canada. In my downtime, I learn a lot about dog behaviour through books and experts online. I know that our pets are our best friends and family members; I will treat yours with utmost respect and kindness - guaranteed! I am currently providing pet care throughout the summer, whilst starting a new business (children's yoga in the park). I am on a sabbatical as an education specialist, and since I love spending time with animals, there is no better way than to spend my summer here in Brighton & Hove. I am open to day services, evenings and weekends. My availability is subject to a pre-booked camping trip and family commitments. I will work with you for bespoke animal care. My Labrador/best friend, Shanti, is excellent around other dogs. Together, owners and I will discuss and decide if our dogs are compatible to socialise together on walks. I live with my retired partner, who is also an animal-lover but the care and responsibility for your pet will be in my trusted hands. While there is no garden here, regular walks to the beach and to Hove Park fill our days. Shanti and I also love longer walks in the countryside/in the woods which we reach by car. Your dog might love to join us! In your home, I will ensure your pet is comfortable and life remains "status quo". If I can welcome your dog to our place, we will discuss all factors to ensure this is what is best for them. On our end, we will ensure they feel right at home. Crating is an option if you think best. Rest assured, I have been caring for animals all my life and when your furry family member is with me, they will be happy, well-cared for and comfortable.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Brighton
Maria was great. Initially she came along to meet us and then popped in just before we left to pick up a key and check final details. She stayed over to look after our big furry maine coon which she did brilliantly. Both the house and cat were in top form when we returned. We will definitely be asking Maria to look after D-Pee again...

Caitlin was absolutely great. We had a dog sitter pull out on us last minute and Caitlin responded very quickly and was so communicative throughout the whole process. She agreed to meet our dogs before her stay so they could get to know her, and checked in with me frequently throughout to check I was okay with where she would walk them/for how long etc. the flat was left immaculate and our dogs were safe, calm and happy. I would highly recommend Caitlin and will be booking her again when we need another sitter.

Ellie was kind, caring and thoughtful. She was able to help me at the last minute and still managed to come and meet my dog before I went away so that they knew each other before she came to look after him. She was patient with him and sent me pics whilst i was away. She is gentle and clearly loves animals and my dog clearly liked her. I will be using Ellie again!

Melina was brilliant in every way. She kept in touch before her stay too make sure she had all the details she needed. She was loving and gentle with our cat and kept us up to date with daily photos and messages. She left the house beautifully clean. I couldn't have asked for a better person to look after our cat while we were away.

Laura was fantastic from the start; she came to be introduced to the cats before the sit and they took to her straight away. Her communications were great and I had lots of lovely pictures and updates over the weekend! She clearly really loves cats and is very confident looking after them; both my cats were super relaxed and happy when I got back. I can recommend Laura very highly!
Jordan was great with our nervous rescue. My dog was difficult at the start and was not an easy customer for Jordan. But Jordan didn't give up and won my dog over! I felt reassured that Jordan was giving my dog space when she needed it, and by the end of the sit we were receiving lots of happy pictures of our dog. The house was kept in great shape too. Thank you Jordan!

Neve is an absolute superstar! When we first met, she immediately put my mind to ease that Rufus and Sully would be in great hands. From the first day, she provided plenty of updates on how they were settling in, and then continued to provide pictures and videos everyday following which was wonderful to receive. Neve was super understanding and accommodating of a few last minute timing changes which I really appreciated too. I can’t recommend Neve highly enough!

Amy was a fabulous sitter, she was so responsive and friendly and came to meet my dog and I before the day of the booking - I had absolutely no reservations in leaving George with her and she kept me updated throughout the time I was away. I’d absolutely book Amy again if I needed another sitter, I think George loved her so 2 very happy customers here! ❤️

Laura was absolutely lovely and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again! Our rather needy little dachshund took to her straight away and was clearly very happy and comfortable in her care. Laura was fantastic from start to finish — she came to meet us and Delores beforehand, was incredibly flexible, and was able to help us at fairly short notice, which we really appreciated. While we were away, she kept us reassured that Delores was happy and well looked after, and she also kept our house wonderfully tidy and in order. We came home to a happy dog and a well-looked-after home — what more could you ask for? Highly recommend Laura and we definitely hope to work with her again. Thank you! 🐶❤️

Anna housesat with my 2 older dogs for a long day, when I was at a wedding. In advance, she was reassuring and communicative about the booking. On the day, she was exactly on time, lovely, sensible and calm. I felt really confident and reassured leaving, although I’d been a bit stressed after my regular dog sitter had a problem and Anna kindly stepped in with about 5 days to go. The dogs liked her straight away and settled well. She checked how often I’d like updates throughout the day and was super professional, trustworthy and competent. Would definitely book Anna again. Thank you so much!

Flora is a true animal lover she went above and beyond in the heatwave to save our geckos while looking after our dog wonderfully and conscientiously . She left the house clean and tidy which was lovely to come back to. She is very friendly and amenable and we would definitely use her again 😊

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Brighton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Brighton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
