“Our first time booking Amanda & hopefully one pf many more. We were delighted with her calm, friendly nature and immediate connection with our dog, a somewhat highly strung but lovely little lurcher. Amanda was an excellent sitter for us to get an evening out so we will heartily recommend her services.”

“Phillip was great! Can be awkward meeting someone for the first time and leaving them with your house and dogs! But, Phillip is a really nice guy, friendly, responsible and calming around the dog, so immediately felt at ease. Kept us up to date with how the pups were getting on with message and photo. When we arrived home we got a recap on their evening, which was lovely to hear that they all hung out and had a nice time. Phillip picked up on their individual personalities, so definitely a dog person. Will definitely book Phillip again.”

I have a small, secure back garden for safe outdoor time, plus comfy dog beds, toys, and a calm environment where your dog is welcome anywhere in my home.
“Inna did a fantastic job. Our dog is a bit of a grumpy old man but Inna managed to charm him enough to get him on her side. She sent updates to us every day with photos of him and let us know how he was getting on. We were very happy with the experience.”

“Beth was amazing with Enzo and provided updates throughout. I could tell Beth had a lot of knowledge about dogs, especially caring for dogs in hot weather which was really reassuring.”

“We have used Emily on 4 occasions now and every time our dog is so happy to see her at the door! We know that she is in great care with Emily, and completely trust her with the dog. Emily is a lovely girl and a great sitter, and would highly recommend her”

“Laura took a same-day booking when I had a last minute gap in dog sitting. She was super flexible, helpful and responsive. I was very grateful and reassured. Both dogs really liked her and I came home to everyone settled, sleepy and happy. Would definitely welcome Laura again!”

“Kei was extremely friendly, attentive and respectful to our property. He was very happy to administer medication to our dog which entailed getting up early and going to bed late. Sent us photos and video clips which kept us reassured. Never used this service before but would definitely recommend Kei and will be using him again. Thanks again Kei. Rod & Nicky”

“Jordan was a great sitter for our boxer Woody. He is really great at communicating and was ready to meet us before the sit without any problems at all. He sent several photos of our dog during the stay bc and kept us up to date on a daily basis without us asking for it. We would really recomend Jordan for anyone who wants a friendly and reliable dog sitter.”

“Balbina was great. Really responsive as we were planning our getaway, immediately built a bond with our dogs so that they did not miss us when we left. Cleaned the house before our return and most importantly, sent loads of brilliant dog photos throughout the week as evidence of how well the dogs were doing. Would strongly recommend Balbina. She was great!”

“We are so happy to have found Jess to look after our 3 year old Cockerpoo - Bertie. Jess came to stay at ours last week whilst we were away. It was a last minute arrangement as sadly our regular dog sitter had to cancel a few days before our holiday due to an accident. This meant Bertie had not spent any time with Jess before we went away and we ourselves only had a short amount of time to decide if things would work out. This was a bit if a stressful situation but from the moment I contacted Jess she was very reassuring and a great communicator. Once we met and chatted I felt she was very trust worthy and keen on dogs. She has experience of walking and looking after dogs (and children) and was clearly happy to spend some time with a four legged companion. We received lots of photos and messages whilst we were away and it is fair to say Bertie had some great adventures. I would definitely book Jess again. We even came home to an even tidier house than when we left! Thank you Jess for allowing us to have a break that was made even more relaxing as we knew Bertie would be in safe hands. See you again soon!”

“Johanna is friendly, reliable and loves dogs! She did an excellent job of caring for my anxious Podenco overnight at my home and left everything extremely tidy. Twigs has terrible separation anxiety but (eventually!) Johanna won him over and he settled down. Thanks Johanna!”

“Over the Christmas period our usual house sitting options were unavailable so we used Rover for the first time and were soon put in touch with Abe. Luckily he had availability and we had a meet up beforehand to allow him to meet Lily. Abe is a super friendly guy and you can tell he has a lot of experience around dogs. As he lives nearby he was flexible on start and end timings and he knew all the local walks. Over the time we were away we were kept up to date with activities at home and we got regular photos. When we got back Lily was super calm and relaxed - the sign of a good week! We wouldn’t hesitate to have Abe over again or recommend to others”

“Emma was really great. Responsive, punctual, flexible, professional. But best of all, my puppy Rio was so happy and relaxed when I got back. I have no hesitation in recommending her and have already booked again.”

“James is an amiable guy who cared beautifully for our Labrador Woody when we were out for the day. Woody seemed to love him! He responded promptly to messages and sent us photos, which we appreciated. We would definitely recommend him.”

About: I grew up with 12 dogs at home and countless weekends spent at dog agility shows. This grew into a lifelong love of dogs of all sizes and personalities. I've spent the past 10 years dog sitting and walking, through word-of-mouth recommendation, until someone suggested I join Rover! I am an easy going and naturally active person, so I love to take dogs on long walks, or take them socializing in cafes (if they like to!), and do basic trick training. I've experience with dogs of all sizes, from collies to GSD's and retired greyhounds to Chihuahuas. I'm a freelancer and part-time yoga teacher, so I have lots of time to spend with four legged friends, so you can be sure they get most of my attention! I plan my work around my pups, not the other way around. At mine: I have a dog friendly apartment on ground floor, no garden but quick access to St Annes garden OR Palmeria Square. I have room to set up a crate if that is your preference. I have enrichment toys and a dog bed here too. At yours: I will follow your preferred instructions! Walking: I always stay present with the dog, I don't walk with headphones in and I am mindful of distractions or the dog's personality. I am happy to follow your preference on walk type, length, and location (within radius!) Cafe socializing: if you would like your dog to spend time in cafes and socialise, I love this too! not all dogs enjoy this, some love it, so this is down to preference. Again, the dogs comfort and tolerance is my number one priority!

“Alex was so fantastic with Peggy and made Peggy feel very at home and cared for! I received lots of updates which was lovely and I felt super comfortable that Peggy was being well loved. Alex was all the things you could wish for in a sitter, attentive, punctual, responsive, communicate and with a clear love for animals.”

Melina took great care of our two cats, house plants and our whole flat while we were away. This was the first time we had used a house sitter but she put us at ease from the start. It gave us such peace of mind knowing our cats were in good hands, and they seemed content and relaxed when we got home. Thank you, Melina!

Daphne was wonderful with our 4 month old puppy! Sid was very happy in her company and we came home to a very calm and content little puppy! We were super nervous leaving her with someone for such a long time as she can be a handful but Daphne was completely unphased which put us at ease! She also left our house in the same state we left it in, couldn’t even tell someone had been there! Daphne is also just the loveliest person I could not recommend her higher! Absolutely will be reuniting Sid and Daphne in the future!

Fab!! Amelia is kind, gentle and thoughtful. We had her to spend 4 separate days, sitting with our dog and our daughter's dog. Our daughter was housesitting whilst we were on holiday and Amelia stepped in on the days she had to work in London. It worked so well and our dogs were very happy with their new friend!

Laura is a wonderful pet sitter. She was so lovely with my rescue dog, Peaches! Peaches felt comfortable with her straight away, and it was clear they'd got on really well. When I got home, she was happy and relaxed. I was so glad to find Laura, especially as she was available at such short notice. It made a stressful situation so much easier. I'd love for Laura to look after Peaches again, and my cat, Sharuka, too! Thank you so much! 😊🩷

Annabel is a fantastic sitter!! Fig instantly warmed up to her and was comfortable within seconds. Annabel kept me up to date with plenty of photos and messages throughout the stay. Super thoughtful and attentive to Fig’s needs, ensuring she was always safe (from the heat) and looked after. Highly recommend!

Johanna is just wonderful - very professional, reliable and responsible. She housesat for about a week for us and the whole experience was effortless- she was very responsive the whole time, taking extra care of our precious boy, sending us daily updates with pictures. We’re very grateful and will choose her again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Johanna!

We used Jacob's dog-sitting service over the weekend and had a great experience. He took excellent care of our dog, Jarvis. He kept us updated with regular photos and messages, and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after. We wouldn't hesitate to book with him again and highly recommend his services! Thank you Jacob!

John is a legend and i highly recommend him! Stepped in at late notice from a cancelation and house sat our dog Angus who is very excitable and a bit reactive. Got on like a house on fire and sent us loads of updates. Thanks mate will definitely use you again going forward!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Hove walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
