“Setting up a house-sitting session with Beth was a breeze. She sent plenty of updates and both of our pets took to her immediately. Thanks, Beth. We’ll be calling on you again, I’m sure.”

About: I grew up on a small farm in Northern Ontario, and I have been caring for and genuinely enjoying spending time with animals for as long as I can remember! I have shared my life with dogs since I was a baby. I had a horse throughout my teen years, and aside from my best girl, Shanti (5.5-year-old Labrador), my most recent animal care was for our geriatric donkey, Eeyore, whilst staying with my family in Canada. In my downtime, I learn a lot about dog behaviour through books and experts online. I know that our pets are our best friends and family members; I will treat yours with utmost respect and kindness - guaranteed! I am currently providing pet care throughout the summer, whilst starting a new business (children's yoga in the park). I am on a sabbatical as an education specialist, and since I love spending time with animals, there is no better way than to spend my summer here in Brighton & Hove. I am open to day services, evenings and weekends. My availability is subject to a pre-booked camping trip and family commitments. I will work with you for bespoke animal care. My Labrador/best friend, Shanti, is excellent around other dogs. Together, owners and I will discuss and decide if our dogs are compatible to socialise together on walks. I live with my retired partner, who is also an animal-lover but the care and responsibility for your pet will be in my trusted hands. While there is no garden here, regular walks to the beach and to Hove Park fill our days. Shanti and I also love longer walks in the countryside/in the woods which we reach by car. Your dog might love to join us! In your home, I will ensure your pet is comfortable and life remains "status quo". If I can welcome your dog to our place, we will discuss all factors to ensure this is what is best for them. On our end, we will ensure they feel right at home. Crating is an option if you think best. Rest assured, I have been caring for animals all my life and when your furry family member is with me, they will be happy, well-cared for and comfortable.
“Johanna is friendly, reliable and loves dogs! She did an excellent job of caring for my anxious Podenco overnight at my home and left everything extremely tidy. Twigs has terrible separation anxiety but (eventually!) Johanna won him over and he settled down. Thanks Johanna!”

“Reliable , punctual, trustworthy ,personable and good at keeping in touch. Our dog seemed happy and content. No hesitation in having her back again and recommending her unequivocally”

About: I grew up with 12 dogs at home and countless weekends spent at dog agility shows. This grew into a lifelong love of dogs of all sizes and personalities. I've spent the past 10 years dog sitting and walking, through word-of-mouth recommendation, until someone suggested I join Rover! I am an easy going and naturally active person, so I love to take dogs on long walks, or take them socializing in cafes (if they like to!), and do basic trick training. I've experience with dogs of all sizes, from collies to GSD's and retired greyhounds to Chihuahuas. I'm a freelancer and part-time yoga teacher, so I have lots of time to spend with four legged friends, so you can be sure they get most of my attention! I plan my work around my pups, not the other way around. At mine: I have a dog friendly apartment on ground floor, no garden but quick access to St Annes garden OR Palmeria Square. I have room to set up a crate if that is your preference. I have enrichment toys and a dog bed here too. At yours: I will follow your preferred instructions! Walking: I always stay present with the dog, I don't walk with headphones in and I am mindful of distractions or the dog's personality. I am happy to follow your preference on walk type, length, and location (within radius!) Cafe socializing: if you would like your dog to spend time in cafes and socialise, I love this too! not all dogs enjoy this, some love it, so this is down to preference. Again, the dogs comfort and tolerance is my number one priority!
“Inna did a fab job house sitting for us and minding our cavapoo, Reggie. She took time out to arrange a meet and greet beforehand so we could run through everything and made sure Reggie was happy. We will be definitely booking Inna again! 😊”

“Sam and Rebecca are amazing sitters. Stan was really well tended to and their communication is on point. I am booking them in again as I feel so comfortable with them and Stan does too 💙”

“Jordan was great with our nervous rescue. My dog was difficult at the start and was not an easy customer for Jordan. But Jordan didn't give up and won my dog over! I felt reassured that Jordan was giving my dog space when she needed it, and by the end of the sit we were receiving lots of happy pictures of our dog. The house was kept in great shape too. Thank you Jordan!”

“Anoushka was great! It was a relatively short notice booking but Anoushka was lovely about sorting out how best to get to know us and Skye and communicated very well. On the day Anoushka arrived on time, we had a lovely calm handover and she took on board all of Skye’s needs and ways. Both Skye and Anoushka got on amazingly well and we came home to a happy pooch. We had some lovely updates and pictures throughout the day, which was nice and reassuring. Anoushka also respected our house and left everything clean and tidy. We would have no concerns having Anoushka back again.”

“Ellen took great care of Bailey and was also kind enough to stay longer than scheduled as I experienced delays in returning home- due to travel disruption. I can’t thank her enough and I’ll be booking her again.”

“Ting was absolutely fantastic with Bones! She was so caring, thoughtful and attentive throughout the stay, and it was clear from all her updates that Bones was having a brilliant time and getting lots of love and attention. She kept us updated with everything, took him on lovely walks, played with him, and even went the extra mile with little things around the house. Bones seemed so happy and comfortable with her, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We wouldn’t hesitate to have Ting look after Bones again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wonderful pet sitter! ❤️”

“Can’t recommend Emily highly enough! She did a great job of looking after our dog, following care instructions, sending updates, and taking care of the flat. Came home after a long weekend away to a happy dog and tidy home. Thank you, Emily!”

“Jamie was great, we met before and it was clear they were really good with dogs and very knowledgeable. Their communication was excellent. All instructions were followed and the dogs seemed very happy on my return.”

“Kirsty was brilliant with our 4.5 month pup - I was nervous about leaving him and so left her lots of instructions and she was great at keeping me updated and putting my mind at ease. Rollo settled really well with her and I would highly recommend her!”

“Chantelle house sat with my dog Shadow over a long weekend and was an exceptional pet sitter. She was reliable, communicative, caring and responsible. Shadow needs arthritis meds regularly & Chantelle walked him, stayed with him & made sure he received his medication as needed. She even went out of her way to post a Christmas gift that we had left behind. It can be tricky thing when deciding to leave your home and your pet in the hands of someone new. If you’re looking for someone who you can trust to take care of your pets and who you can entrust with your home, look no further! A huge thank you to you Chantelle! We will most definitely be booking you again & again :)”

Tamara was an excellent sitter for our beloved Basil. She kept us fully informed and frequently sent updates on how things were going whilst she stayed at our home for 3 nights. I wouldn’t hesitate in rebooking or recommending her. It’s no wonder Tamara is a star sitter!

Maria was great. Initially she came along to meet us and then popped in just before we left to pick up a key and check final details. She stayed over to look after our big furry maine coon which she did brilliantly. Both the house and cat were in top form when we returned. We will definitely be asking Maria to look after D-Pee again...

Melina was brilliant in every way. She kept in touch before her stay too make sure she had all the details she needed. She was loving and gentle with our cat and kept us up to date with daily photos and messages. She left the house beautifully clean. I couldn't have asked for a better person to look after our cat while we were away.

Jordan was great with our nervous rescue. Thank you Jordan!

Neve is an absolute superstar! When we first met, she immediately put my mind to ease that Rufus and Sully would be in great hands. From the first day, she provided plenty of updates on how they were settling in, and then continued to provide pictures and videos everyday following which was wonderful to receive. Neve was super understanding and accommodating of a few last minute timing changes which I really appreciated too. I can’t recommend Neve highly enough!

Amy was a fabulous sitter, she was so responsive and friendly and came to meet my dog and I before the day of the booking - I had absolutely no reservations in leaving George with her and she kept me updated throughout the time I was away. I’d absolutely book Amy again if I needed another sitter, I think George loved her so 2 very happy customers here! ❤️

Laura was absolutely lovely and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again! Our rather needy little dachshund took to her straight away and was clearly very happy and comfortable in her care. Laura was fantastic from start to finish — she came to meet us and Delores beforehand, was incredibly flexible, and was able to help us at fairly short notice, which we really appreciated. While we were away, she kept us reassured that Delores was happy and well looked after, and she also kept our house wonderfully tidy and in order. We came home to a happy dog and a well-looked-after home — what more could you ask for? Highly recommend Laura and we definitely hope to work with her again. Thank you! 🐶❤️

Anna housesat with my 2 older dogs for a long day, when I was at a wedding. In advance, she was reassuring and communicative about the booking. On the day, she was exactly on time, lovely, sensible and calm. I felt really confident and reassured leaving, although I’d been a bit stressed after my regular dog sitter had a problem and Anna kindly stepped in with about 5 days to go. The dogs liked her straight away and settled well. She checked how often I’d like updates throughout the day and was super professional, trustworthy and competent. Would definitely book Anna again. Thank you so much!

Elena looked after our two dogs while we were away for 5 nights. When we met her we were really happy that she was calm and gentle. She sent us updates and reassured us that our dogs were happy while we were on holiday. She also left the house very clean and tidy. We’d be happy to recommend her to anyone.

Flora is a true animal lover she went above and beyond in the heatwave to save our geckos while looking after our dog wonderfully and conscientiously . She left the house clean and tidy which was lovely to come back to. She is very friendly and amenable and we would definitely use her again 😊

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Hove walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
