“After a successful couple of meet & greets, Beth’s first one hour visit seemed to go well. Sookie is a nervous rescue and can take time to warm up to new people. Although she wasn’t brave enough to approach Beth that day, she was comfortable and relaxed enough to have a snooze while she was there. Which shows that she isn’t overly worried about Beth, who didn’t try to push things too fast and went at Sookie’s pace, allowing her to feel that relaxed she could close her eyes. Very happy with Beth and her knowledge of handling nervous dogs.”

“Johanna’s first two one hour visits with Sookie went really well. Sookie is a nervous rescue and can take a bit of time to warm up to new people. But with Johanna, she seemed to get very comfortable very quickly. Approaching her, choosing to lie near her, and having a snooze. And then on the second visit she put her head on her legs! Johanna has taken things at Sookie’s pace and my dog has quickly felt safe and happy with her.”

“Thank you so much for the cats feeding and looking after it meant so much to me and the cleaning out of the world. If I could do, it’s 11 out of 10 super.🙌🙌👍👍”

About: I’ve had dogs in my life since childhood and have spent many years helping care for dogs belonging to friends and family. Over the last 10+ years I’ve regularly helped with walking, feeding, company and general care, and I genuinely love being around animals. I work from home part of the week, which means I can offer dogs plenty of attention, companionship and regular walks throughout the day. I understand how important trust and reliability are when leaving your pet with someone, and I always aim to provide a calm, caring and safe environment where dogs feel comfortable and well looked after. I’m happy to follow your dog’s usual routine closely and can provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind while you’re away. I work a hybrid schedule, spending 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week. My work-from-home days are flexible rather than fixed, which allows me to be accommodating where possible. I work Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, and can also offer some evening and weekend availability with advance notice. While I don’t have a garden, I live in a spacious and comfortable flat in Hove, just a 5-minute walk from Hove Lawns and the beach. This means your pet will still enjoy plenty of fresh air, exercise and lovely walks in a relaxed seaside setting. I always aim to provide a calm, caring and comfortable environment where pets feel safe and well looked after. “We wouldn't hesitate to use Luna again and couldn't recommend her enough. She was wonderful with our cat, Violet. She sent updates and photos after each visit, which we greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!”

“Incredible care and attention to detail! Sophie truly went above and beyond while taking care of our two cats, Rio and Lima. Exceptionally detailed information and communication throughout, and we genuinely couldn't have asked for any more. Can't recommend her enough for anyone in need of their furry friends being taken care of!!!”

About: I grew up with 12 dogs at home and countless weekends spent at dog agility shows. This grew into a lifelong love of dogs of all sizes and personalities. I've spent the past 10 years dog sitting and walking, through word-of-mouth recommendation, until someone suggested I join Rover! I am an easy going and naturally active person, so I love to take dogs on long walks, or take them socializing in cafes (if they like to!), and do basic trick training. I've experience with dogs of all sizes, from collies to GSD's and retired greyhounds to Chihuahuas. I'm a freelancer and part-time yoga teacher, so I have lots of time to spend with four legged friends, so you can be sure they get most of my attention! I plan my work around my pups, not the other way around. At mine: I have a dog friendly apartment on ground floor, no garden but quick access to St Annes garden OR Palmeria Square. I have room to set up a crate if that is your preference. I have enrichment toys and a dog bed here too. At yours: I will follow your preferred instructions! Walking: I always stay present with the dog, I don't walk with headphones in and I am mindful of distractions or the dog's personality. I am happy to follow your preference on walk type, length, and location (within radius!) Cafe socializing: if you would like your dog to spend time in cafes and socialise, I love this too! not all dogs enjoy this, some love it, so this is down to preference. Again, the dogs comfort and tolerance is my number one priority!
“Kate did a superb job checking in on and feeding our cat Oskar while we were away overnight. Oskar is a senior cat and quite shy but he took to Kate straightaway and looked completely relaxed in the video updates Kate shared. Excellent all round.”

“Jo is a god send - she took such good care of my little nugget and went out of her way to give me updates. She showed huge empathy, friendliness and my Lizzy s and seemed to like her a lot. Cannot recommend highly enough!!”

“Annabel was a fantastic friend to my cat while I was away for a week. Her kindness, understanding and caring nature meant that Blossom was very happy and looked forward to her daily visits. I would not hesitate to recommend Annabel - she really is certainly someone that can be relied on with any pet she is asked to look after. Thank you so much to Annabel!”

“Ruta looked after our cat while we were away - she completed daily drop-ins to feed out cat and check she was ok. Everything went smoothly and communication was excellent.”

“Caroline was wonderful with my puppy, and I've already booked her again! She came over to meet us the day before and was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I felt totally comfortable leaving my 3 month old puppy in Caroline's hands as I've returned to the office. She sent adorable photos and updates during drop in visits throughout the day, and my puppy was content when I returned home. I'm very happy with Caroline's care and highly recommend her!”

About: My dog is a six year old lovely Cockapoo who loves to chew things and dig holes. I am patient with dogs who may be naughty and I love teaching pets new tricks! I am based in Brighton now after studying in London for the last 5 years and miss my dog who is at home in Wales. I would love to take your dog on long walks in the park! I don’t have anywhere to take care of pets in my own home as I am renting and not allowed pets, but when I was at my parents house we had a big garden where my dog could run around and I took her for 2, hour long walks a day! I am happy to come and look after your dog in your own home while you are away :)

About: I am used to taking care of friends pets(dogs, cats, rabbits) when they are away over the years! I love doing so. Especially because I live in rented accommodation, so can no longer have one of my own. I currently work part time. Tuesdays to Fridays 9-4:30. I have plenty of time to spend with your lovely fur babies and am so looking forward to. I like going to the beach/in nature for swims and walks! I am happy working with your personal boundaries when it comes to looking after your pet. I know everyone cares for their pets slightly differently and would love to experience that.
About: Hello! My name is Em (Rover keeps the name on my ID unfortunately). I have been looking after family and friends dogs since I was a small child. I love spending time with dogs, ensuring they get the exercise and stimulation needed, and the care they deserve. I mostly grew up around staffies (to this day my favourite breed), so I am used to hyperactive and excitable pups. I also grew up predominantly with cats, so I am well versed in looking after them too. I am a disabled, able-bodied adult (I have autism, so it is difficult to find 'traditional' work, but it also means that I spend a lot more time with animals), so I am available every day needed. Your dog will always be supervised, inside and outside your home. I am able to crate your dog if needed. I will also ask for a list of rules/needs for your pet to ensure the best care and experience for both you and your pet.

About: I will always make sure your dog has a fun experience and you'll get photo evidence! I've taken care of dogs, cats and horses for more than 15 years. I have experience with many pets including a number of medical and behavioural cases so I'm happy to help with anything that's needed. I treat animals with kindness and respect and always make sure they have some fun and calm time with me. When teaching any tricks or helping with behavioural struggles, I use positive training only. I commit to each pets specific needs as they're all individuals. I'm currently working full time, Tuesday and Friday remotely with some weekends off. During the working days I'm available between 7PM and 9AM so please contact me to discuss your preferred schedule. I will follow all your instructions regarding feeding, behavioural training, any pet's preferences or medical needs but most importantly make sure you dog has fun with me. I work with animals professionally on daily basis and treat them all like my own. I'm working full time including some Saturdays, Tuesdays and Fridays remotely. I can take your dog to the woods on a weekend or pet sit during the week. I will follow all the instructions provided to make sure to keep your pet's routine as normal. I care for all pets as if they were my own

Cat owners share their Rover experiences - Hove
Leona was absolutely brilliant. She responded so quickly to my request for care at short notice and came to meet us and our cat Chester. She is truly a cat person and we couldn't have asked for more. He is a very messy boy but everything was spotless on our return and we found a very happy, relaxed cat. We also really appreciated the time she spent messaging and the photos. Thank you so much Leona for looking after our dear old Chester.

Kate was absolutely fantastic, and we couldn’t recommend her more highly. She quickly built a wonderful bond with our cat, who can be fickle! She spent real quality time with him, and after we returned home, he was even waiting by the door at the time she usually visited, which says it all. Kate kept us updated with photos, videos and reassuring messages about his feeding, medication and how he was doing. Her communication was excellent and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s clear Kate genuinely loves animals and goes above and beyond. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.

Tegan has been amazing! We had a first visit for JiJi to meet her a couple of weeks before our holiday and Tegan instantly put our slightly anxious minds at ease, she clearly loves animals. Her care for JiJi while we were away was top notch, we had communication daily with photos and videos and we were so pleased to see how quickly JiJi took to her and was coming up for some affection and strokes. Tegan took care of feeding and water, clearing the litter tray and playtime and was really vigilant with keeping an eye on what and how much our cat was eating, as he can be a bit fussy! We came home to a happy cat and wouldn’t hesitate to book Tegan again to look after JiJi.

Lorna made me feel a lot more relaxed about leaving my cats for a week. She sent me daily video updates and both Rufus and Holly were chilled and happy when I got back. Unlike her brother, Holly always hides from strangers, but by the end of the week was also appearing for video updates at dinner time. My tomato plants were also well cared for! Would certainly use Lorna again.

Excellent all round. Balbina is obviously very good with animals because she forged an immediate connection with our not always overly-friendly cat when she came to collect the keys. She was communicative, reliable and a pleasure to deal with but, most of all, she took the time to make sure the cat was happy. She provided plenty of photos and clips of a very happy cat being stroked and petted. It's reassuring to know that your treasured family member is being cared for by someone who loves animals as much as you. Highly recommended.

Giulia is a wonderful cat carer, who looked after my old cat, Charlotte, brilliantly. I would highly recommend her as she was very kind to Charlotte, who clearly liked her immediately, was very prompt in responding to my texts and gave me very precise feedback about Charlotte, including lovely videos and photos. Giulia was so kind and thoughtful that she even collected some birthday flowers from a local shop that would definitely have died in the heatwave, without her help. Exceptional cat care - many thanks!

We couldn’t be happier with the fantastic service we received Ariana! Communication was absolutely excellent from start to finish, providing us with regular updates and plenty of photos that gave us total peace of mind while we were away. We highly recommend Ariana to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and trustworthy sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
