About: I used to work with a local dog walker/boarder and mixed with plenty of doggos during this time! I’ve also had dogs in my family since I was a child! A Dalmatian, Chihuahuas, Jack Russel x Chihuahua’s, and more recently a lovely Frenchie. However, I currently am unable to have a pet of my own due to the demands of my degree. I love animals, and you can be sure that your pet will be the centre of my attention whilst I am with them! I am a full-time mature BSc student in Brighton, which takes up about 3 days a week and I usually work 1 day at my job during term times. Due to these commitments, I am sadly unable to have a pet of my own. My flexibility will vary depending on my schedule, which from September, I should be aware of at least 5 weeks in advance. I will easily fit in time with your furry friends during these commitments, and maybe they can help me to study! I live in a ground floor flat with access to our own secure outdoor space, however, this is stones and decking but plenty of space for sniffing and roaming around, or lounging in the sun with me when we’re not out on a walk! A well-behaved dog will have access to all spaces, including my bedroom. We live a very short walk from plenty of local dog-friendly parks in Hove, and a little further is the beach! Please note that I am not comfortable with off-lead walks, happy to use long training leads, etc, unless in a very secure area. I want to keep your pet safe and secure the entire time!
“Brilliant. Thank you so much for being surrogate to our lovely old lady. Taking on board and half blind half deaf dog without a break in your stride. So happy we found you. Thanks”

“After a successful couple of meet & greets, Beth’s first one hour visit seemed to go well. Sookie is a nervous rescue and can take time to warm up to new people. Although she wasn’t brave enough to approach Beth that day, she was comfortable and relaxed enough to have a snooze while she was there. Which shows that she isn’t overly worried about Beth, who didn’t try to push things too fast and went at Sookie’s pace, allowing her to feel that relaxed she could close her eyes. Very happy with Beth and her knowledge of handling nervous dogs.”

I have previously house and pet sat via another online dog boarding site. I can provide a link to my reviews on request. I currently have a 14 year old Jack Russell who has been with us since he was a puppy. He's great with other dogs and would love a friend to come and stay. My home has a secure fenced garden. When arranging boarding or walking I am mindful to follow your instructions about what works best for your dog.

I work a hybrid schedule, spending 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week. My work-from-home days are flexible rather than fixed, which allows me to be accommodating where possible. I work Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, and can also offer some evening and weekend availability with advance notice. About: I grew up with 12 dogs at home and countless weekends spent at dog agility shows. This grew into a lifelong love of dogs of all sizes and personalities. I've spent the past 10 years dog sitting and walking, through word-of-mouth recommendation, until someone suggested I join Rover! I am an easy going and naturally active person, so I love to take dogs on long walks, or take them socializing in cafes (if they like to!), and do basic trick training. I've experience with dogs of all sizes, from collies to GSD's and retired greyhounds to Chihuahuas. I'm a freelancer and part-time yoga teacher, so I have lots of time to spend with four legged friends, so you can be sure they get most of my attention! I plan my work around my pups, not the other way around. At mine: I have a dog friendly apartment on ground floor, no garden but quick access to St Annes garden OR Palmeria Square. I have room to set up a crate if that is your preference. I have enrichment toys and a dog bed here too. At yours: I will follow your preferred instructions! Walking: I always stay present with the dog, I don't walk with headphones in and I am mindful of distractions or the dog's personality. I am happy to follow your preference on walk type, length, and location (within radius!) Cafe socializing: if you would like your dog to spend time in cafes and socialise, I love this too! not all dogs enjoy this, some love it, so this is down to preference. Again, the dogs comfort and tolerance is my number one priority!
“Annabel was a fantastic friend to my cat while I was away for a week. Her kindness, understanding and caring nature meant that Blossom was very happy and looked forward to her daily visits. I would not hesitate to recommend Annabel - she really is certainly someone that can be relied on with any pet she is asked to look after. Thank you so much to Annabel!”

“Jo is a god send - she took such good care of my little nugget and went out of her way to give me updates. She showed huge empathy, friendliness and my Lizzy s and seemed to like her a lot. Cannot recommend highly enough!!”

“Caroline was wonderful with my puppy, and I've already booked her again! She came over to meet us the day before and was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I felt totally comfortable leaving my 3 month old puppy in Caroline's hands as I've returned to the office. She sent adorable photos and updates during drop in visits throughout the day, and my puppy was content when I returned home. I'm very happy with Caroline's care and highly recommend her!”

About: My dog is a six year old lovely Cockapoo who loves to chew things and dig holes. I am patient with dogs who may be naughty and I love teaching pets new tricks! I am based in Brighton now after studying in London for the last 5 years and miss my dog who is at home in Wales. I would love to take your dog on long walks in the park! I don’t have anywhere to take care of pets in my own home as I am renting and not allowed pets, but when I was at my parents house we had a big garden where my dog could run around and I took her for 2, hour long walks a day! I am happy to come and look after your dog in your own home while you are away :)

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Hove
Leona was a wonderful sitter to our cat Boots and went above and beyond to make sure he was okay after he managed to find his way out the of the house through a window we’d left cracked open, even to the point of popping in extra times and going over late at night when our neighbour messaged to say that he had escaped. She made sure that he got back safely and communicated everything to us, really putting our minds at ease so we could carry on enjoying our holiday. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Leona again, thank you so much for your time and for going out of your way for our mischievous boy!
We ended up arranging a dog sitting service last minute, but Samuel was so quick to respond that everything was easy to sort out. When he came round to meet our dog he was great with him, and when we were out the arranged visits all went as planned with updates and photos all as expected. We came home to a happy and relaxed dog and we are very pleased to have found Samuel to help out at such short notice!

Kate was absolutely fantastic, and we couldn’t recommend her more highly. She quickly built a wonderful bond with our cat, who can be fickle! She spent real quality time with him, and after we returned home, he was even waiting by the door at the time she usually visited, which says it all. Kate kept us updated with photos, videos and reassuring messages about his feeding, medication and how he was doing. Her communication was excellent and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s clear Kate genuinely loves animals and goes above and beyond. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.

Tegan has been amazing! We had a first visit for JiJi to meet her a couple of weeks before our holiday and Tegan instantly put our slightly anxious minds at ease, she clearly loves animals. Her care for JiJi while we were away was top notch, we had communication daily with photos and videos and we were so pleased to see how quickly JiJi took to her and was coming up for some affection and strokes. Tegan took care of feeding and water, clearing the litter tray and playtime and was really vigilant with keeping an eye on what and how much our cat was eating, as he can be a bit fussy! We came home to a happy cat and wouldn’t hesitate to book Tegan again to look after JiJi.

Oona was happy to meet for a meet and greet before the first sit, and when it came to the actual sit, she was punctual, reliable and communicative and sent photos of the dogs while they played and hung out together. I’d definitely recommend Oona. I knew my dogs were in good hands with her. I’ll hopefully use her services again soon!

Lorna made me feel a lot more relaxed about leaving my cats for a week. She sent me daily video updates and both Rufus and Holly were chilled and happy when I got back. Unlike her brother, Holly always hides from strangers, but by the end of the week was also appearing for video updates at dinner time. My tomato plants were also well cared for! Would certainly use Lorna again.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm.
